IMac spakers shift audio volume up and down...

I play a song through iTunes and through the iMac's speakers, the volume sort of cuts out and shifts between volumes. Almost like it's hitting its limit in terms of volume. This only happens when the iMac's volume is at its peak, same with iTunes' built-in volume. I've never had this problem before, but could it be possible the speakers may have been somewhat damaged before I bought it? It was a Refreshed (open box) item from an Apple Store in San Francisco, CA.

Thanks.

    Hello @voicewizard,
I understand that you are having audio issues with your audio having to ramp up before it hits the normal output range. I would be happy to assist you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer as there are numerous HP ENVY 810 All-In-One Desktop PC variations. And whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit as with this and the product number I can provide you with accurate information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Please re-post with the requested information and I would be happy to provide you with assistance. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Sound is unstable. Volume up and down?

&Sound is unstable. Volume up and down?y Hi guys. I'm completely at a loss with my PCI Express X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Champion Series.
Recently I formatted my computer and installed all of the latest drivers for my card with WinXP Pro 32, problem now is that the volume is up and down like strippers knickers!
The volume goes up and down?with everything. Doesn't matter if I'm playing a game, listening to music or watching movies both from DVD and AVI.
I've tried to resolve this in all 3 settings (Game, Entertainment, Audio Creation modes) with CMSS and Crystalizer turned on and off.....no difference.
The SMV (Smart Volume Management) is disabled. I've even disconnected the front panel.
The speakers are connected via the analogue connections.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Brett

    Hi jmacguire.
I've checked the global speaker volume as suggested and they are all set to max.
As far as keyboard goes, I've got the Logitech g5 keyboard (without drivers installed for it).
How very interesting..... I've just installed the drivers for it and it's fixed the problem. Typically I looked for the hardest way to fix this when the answer was so simple.
Thank you for your fast reply to my problem.
    Regards

If you want to get a little more "exotic" you can try remapping the function keys.  I did a little google searching and the hits that looked promising are,

    1. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

My ipod 3 generation,Keys of volume up and down are not working..What can i do?

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • I found a solution!! so go into your settings - where it says "use side switch to:" click mute instead of lock rotation. Seems that somehow it was locked on mute (eventhough my buttons were showing me turning volume up and down) now its all working perfec

Try restarting your device. If that doesn't work, take it to an Apple store. If it is less than a year old and just stopped working, they will replace it for free (be sure to back it up to iTunes first). If you dropped it, you will have to pay because Apple will not replace a device due to "Human Error." If it is more than a year old, you will either have to pay to get it fixed, or have to pay to get it replaced.

  • Audio goes up and down

I created my first DVD with iDVD. I added a slideshow with background music.
When I play the DVD on my DVD player (a Goodmans connected to my TV) I realize that every time the player skips from one photo to another the background music volume goes down then up again.
The audio is low when the previous photo fade in transition then goes loud again when the next photo is fully displayed on the TV.
    It's awful.
When I play the same DVD right on my Mac everything is right. The photos flow separated by transitions and the audio volume is always on the same level.
I think this strange audio problem is due to the poor technology of my external DVD player. Is there any step I can apply to remove this anomaly?

It's a DVD reader fault, not a Mac fault

  • Audio fading up and down

When I am playing track through Itunes my audio is fading up and down while playing it through my house amp. It use to work perfect before but don't know what's up. I did a upgrade that that my computer alerted me to do. Really need my music.

Are you sure you are posting in the right Forum? This is the Soundtrack Forum. It sounds like an iTunes problem you're having… in which case, you will get more & better answers posting over there.
(For what it's worth, this sounds like a problem with your audio system rather than iTunes. Does it affect other applications or devices, e.g., CD players?)

    Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall HP Quick Launch Buttons - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • Audio volume rising and falling

    Hi everyone,
I'm recording voice overs for my tutorial project, created in
CP3. I'm using an external mic that's designed for VO's. However,
I've noticed in some of my published projects that the volume will
rise and fall from slide to slide. I'm recording in a small office
so I don't think I'm moving my head too much. I'm stumped--has this
happened to anyone else? Are there any workarounds?
    Thanks!
    Krista

It doesn't take much head movement to make the volume bounce
around. I record and edit my audio with SoundForge (producing WAV
files). Then I use GoldWave to batch process the files (Noise
Reduction: Clipboard noise print, Equalizer: Reduce mid [for my
voice], and Maximize Volume; Full dynamic range, in that order.
(GoldWave is inexpensiv and its batch processor great.)
The extra processing is well worth it, I think, unless your
    projects are absolutely quick-and-dirty.

  • HELP!!! new iMac. screen shifts side to side and i can't use mouse when this happens.

i bought this imac back in january and have had nothing but problems since then with it. first my OS (lion 10.7.4) crashed or some **** where i got extremely slow and would give me the colored wheel of death so i take it to worst but where i bought it and they say its a corupt hard drive so its sent out. get it back, they say it whats the os system so they re-boot the os on to it. mean while i was having the same problem ive have from the beginning which was the screen would shake side to side when ever i would be doing something and the mouse locks up and i would have to wait for it to stop. this is VERY ANOYING!!! i took it to apple and they ran a series of stress tests on it and they couldnt even get it to produce it once while they had it. so now its STILL doing it!  can anyone please help me. im ready to go to apple and demand a new computer or punch someone in the face...

    I'm speaking from experience.
You're using a wireless Magic Mouse right?  Yeah, thought so.
I first noticed the problem on Lion (10.7.5) but that was also the time my Mighty Mouse or whatever that thing was called crapped out and I upgraded to the Magic Mouse.  I always thought the problem was with the OS.  My system is not supported by Mountain Lion (late 2006 model, the white one) so I did a system reinstall and stil had the issue.  Being stupid, I still attributed it to the OS but had my doubts about the mouse with all the silly swipes here and there and everywhere.  Until today.  I said enough of this garbage and switched off the mouse and plugged in a beat up wired Logitech.  Going on 4 hours now and not one screen shake.
The "iMac screen shake".  Not very well documented.  But **** if that isn't one frustrating mofo.  Seriously, how did I use this thing for many moons with the screen shaking every 3-5 minutes.  ***??   And by the way, to stop the screen from shaking while it's doing it, madly swipe back and forth on the magic mouse shell to take control back.  Man, I'm getting upset just thinking about this problem.  And the waste of $70 for the mouse.
And for what it's worth, I bought an iMac (2010) for my folks and I've noticed the problem on their machine too.  Yep, Magic Mouse.

  • ITunes changes my playing song, creates a remote playlist automatically, and volume ups and downs?

    Any one can help?

    Well, I'm stumped (for now!).
If you've turned off the Shuffle feature, then the Skip when shuffling cannot be a problem, so we've successfully eliminated that as the issue. (For your information, this feature is set for each song; highlight a song and select right-click/Get Info/Options>Skip when shuffling.)
    Let's start from scratch.
Close iTunes, and then re-start it.
Select (but do not start) one of your Playlists. It should look like this, The Now Playing area should be blank, apart from the Apple logo.:
I'm looking at my Playlist, named Radio Ultima. The Now Playing area is empty. Note that the first song in my Playlist is Masar.
Click on the Play icon. The first song in your Playlist should start playing.
You should now have a screen similar to this. Sure enough, the song Masar is now playing in my iTunes. Note that neither the Shuffle nor the Repeat icons are blue, so they're switched off. Don't touch them.
Click on the List icon (ringed in red in my screenshot) and you should see a list similar to mine:
The first song in that drop-down list is second in the main window. It will play next. Do not select the Clear button, it will empty the "Play Next" list, which we don't want to do.
When Masar finishes playing, the Now Playing window changes, to look like this:
The Next Up song from the drop-down menu is now playing. In my screenshot, you'll notice that the song Masar has disappeared. This is because this particular Playlist removes songs after they have been played. In your view, the first song should still be visible.
If this doesn't happen, at what point do you see anything different to my screenshots?
As I'm writing this, I have had another idea, but let's look at the results of this experiment first.
