Imac suddenly dropping ISP/INTERNET/SERVER all the time

Since adding a new Macbook Pro to my home setup my iMac continually drops ISP/INTERNET/SERVER once its connected. All other devices are absolutely fine and connected to BT Home Hub with BT Infinity. When I perform Network Diagnostics it tells NETWORK CHANGE DETECTED - I click OK and its fine for 30 seconds then drops out again. The WIFI light is always green and I've tried 2 other computes and iPhone in the same location and they are fine too. I have also tried resetting the Home Hub but this doesn't help.
I can't help thinking its a device problem rather than a BT problem but wanted to check here first before calling them.
All help much appreciated - as I said this has only just started happening and the only difference to the setup is that I've added a new laptop into the setup.
Thanks
S

Ok, so when you say you lose internet connection, is it disconnecting from your wireless network so there are no bars?
And are there usually full bars?

  • SharePoint TempDB.mdf growing too large? I have to restart SQL Server all the time. Please help

    Hi there,
    On our DEV SharePoint farm > SQL server
    The tempdb.mdf size grows too quickly and too much. I am tired of increasing the space and cannot do that anymore.
    All the time I have to reboot the SQL server to get tempdb to normal size.
    The Live farm is okay (with similar data) so it must be something wrong with our
    DEV environment.
    Any idea how to fix this please?
    Thanks so much.

    How do you get the tempdb to 'normal size'? How large is large and how small is normal.
    Have you put the databases in simple recovery mode? It's normal for dev environments to not have the required transaction log backups to keep the ldf files in check. That won't affect the tempdb but if you've got bigger issues then that might be a symptom.
    Have you turned off autogrowth for the temp DB?

  • Loosing battery from internet traffic all the time

    4 days ago i have bought an iphone 5
    previous one was an iphone 4
    my problem is the iphone 5 all the time spending my internet traffic, but i turned off all the push notification and etc apps whiches use the inernet....
    because of that my iphone loses battery for 2-3 hours
    HELP ME PLEASE !

    I have another computer connected
    to this network in another part of the house
    If that is a Windows XP computer make sure it is not trying to do an 802.1x authentication since that will cause those interruptions:
    http://www.efelix.co.uk/tech/1010.html
    Ensure that the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network check box is not checked.
    Also, upgrading to Service Pack 2 should take care of that problem.
    Otherwise, Airports are a reliable product so perhaps you are in an area of interference? Pick a different channel - like 9?

  • IMac Fans running at maximum speed all the time

    Hi Appleians!
    I have an iMac 20inch with 8GB RAM and its an i3 intel processor. I purchased it from a friend of mine who had replaced the original hard drive with another that amounts to a terabyte. Now the fans are running at full speed all the time making it way too noisy to work with. It however works smoothly with no problems except the fans are irritating, it does not heat up though. Anyone with a solution? I tried resseting the SMC it didnt work.
    `Oh and the computer is running on Mavericks.
    Please help!

  • WRT54G2 V1 drops wired PC connection all the time

    I have a WRT54G2 Ver 1.0 unit with 1.02 firmware - I connect via a Linksys CM-100 cable modem to Comcast (in Houston - was Time Warner). My PC is wired to the router and is running 32-bit Vista Home Premium.  The internet connection drops on a regular basis (several times per day) and the router has to be power cycled to recover. Power cycling the modem or the PC makes no difference - it has to be the router. Seems like it does it mostly when my PC goes to sleep mode. After reading the postings on this site I have set the MTU = 1350 and also cloned the MAC address of my PC - no significant improvement.  I only used the router briefly in Ver 1.01 firmware after I purchased it in January, but I think it ran OK with that (at least it seemed better).  Any suggestions welcome. Can I reloaded the 1.01 firmware without causing any isssues?  If I can't get any success I'll drop a brick on the darned thing - I bought it to upgrade a wireless B Linksys unit that was 5+ years old - slow but ran like a charm!

    Try to hard reset the router and then re-configure it...
    Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...Set the MTU to 1350 and see if you still loose the connection...
    Also test the connection by connecting a PC straight to the modem...

  • Safari suddenly quits....all the time

    Using Safari 1.3.2(v312.6)
    Haven't used it much for quite some time. Been using Firefox, but...
    today when I accepted Mozilla's invatation to upgrade to Firefox 3.0, I did. Went through the four presumably easy steps and everything was downloaded correctly. However, I cannot open Firefox at all. Tried everything again. And again. Firefox 3.0 will not open.
    So, went back to using Safari. Whenever I do, it crashes. Simply by going to different, commonly used ... for me at least ... web sites. Things like news and sports pages, googling various things. Safari always quits.
    Any thoughts? Also, any thoughts on what has happened with Firefox?

    Hi,
    As Mulder has already explained, Firefox 3 is for OS X 10.4 and higher. You can download Firefox 2 from [here|http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
    As for your crashing with Safari, usually Safari 1.3.2 has problems with some JavaScript on various sites, but in your case the crash doesn't seem to be related to JavaScript. There's a chance it could be more related to Flash. The most recent version of Flash Player for OS X 10.3 can be downloaded from [here|http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb406791&sliceI d=1].
    Personally, in your shoes I'd follow Mulder's advice to use the Camino browser. It's essentially the same engine as Firefox but in a more Mac-like interface.

  • Why is my iMac running so slow and crashing all the time?

    My iMac is last years model, running on Lion OS X. It's one year old, I had it Christmas 2011. It's 1TB with 4GB RAM. It's partitioned with Bootcamp, Windows 7, so it's 100GB Win7 and 900GB OS X. I'm only using 350GB of RAM altogether.
    It's started running ridiuclously slow. Firstly, it was just when I started to work with large files in Photoshop (CS5.1). I was attempting to work on a piece for college which size is A2 (594 x 420), but it was painfully slow, so I literally stopped working and started researching into how to improve performance. I deleted a lot of software that I didn't need, verified and repaired discs, nothing seemed to work.
    Now Photoshop isn't the only problem. Certain websites aren't loading when they're working fine on my iPhone and on my iMac, such as Facebook, Google, but websites like Twitter and Gmail are working? I downloaded Avast and started to scan for a virus, but then the deadly annoying pop up saying "You need to restart you Mac, hold down the power button etc" popped up... I dunno what I'm supposed to do now, and I dunno why it's acting like this. It's been fine. Think it's a virus? I'm scanning now but nothing found as of yet.
    If anybody knows what's going on, or if this has happened to them, please let me know! I know I could just book a Genius appointment and take it to the Apple store, but I have university interviews in a couple of days, no external hard drives to put my work on, and it's 27" which is hard to lug around town...
    Thank-you.

    If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the entire contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post shutdownStall, spin, or hang reports.

  • Can't order book...internet crashes all the time

    I am using Snow Leopard and iLife 08 version of iphoto. I now want to print a book of 14.5mb file size. every time I try my internet crashes at different stages of the file transfer to Apple. Tried this several times now and at different times of the day and by using both wireless and ethernet...but it still crashes my internet connection....anyone got any clues ?

    1 - It is best to post iPhoto '08 questions in the iPhoto '08 forum rather than the iPhoto 5 forum you posted in - I have requested that your thread be moved.
    2 - have you talked to your internet provider?
    3 - have you previewed your book - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040
    4 - have you read the Apple suggestions - http://www.apple.com/uk/support/photoservices/account_troubleshooting/
    5 - do you get any error message?

  • Old I mac 2006 version, safari fails to open or drops have to restart all the time.  Firefox does the same thing.

    I have an Old I Mac using OS X 10.6.8 recently I have noticed that safari fails to open, quits then refused to reload.  The samthing happens to fiefox as well.  The only way I get around this issue so far is to restart my computer.  Any solutions, or is it time to buy a new mac??

    I have an old iMac 2006 with Snow Leopard as well. The monitor is shot and I have to screen share on my newer iMac to even use it, but it's still chugging away.
    I do know that at some point it's going to die. I make sure I have backups of my data so when that day comes my data will be safe on my clone backup.
    Both of these applications can be used to create a clone.

  • How to keep internet PPPoe On all the time?

    Ok so here is the low down, right now every time i turn on my IMac and want to get the internet. I have to do it manually. as in go to system preference and select network and turn on PPPoe directly from the menu every time i turn on the computer.
    Is there anyway to keep the internet on all the time and have it connect automatically without going into menu settings every time.
    Thanks

    Here, you can study this - its pretty simple code that I wrote for one of my own students to develop;-import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Baller extends JFrame implements Runnable{

       boolean down=true, forwd=true;
       public Baller(){
          JPanel pan = new JPanel(){
             public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
                super.paintComponent(g);
                g.fillOval(x,y,30,30);
          pan.setOpaque(false);
          getContentPane().add(pan);
          setSize(290, 310);
          setDefaultCloseOperation( EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
          new Thread(this).start();
       public void run() {
          while (true) {
          if(down) y++;
          else y--;
          if(forwd) x++;
          else x--;
          repaint();
             if(x > bottom) down =false;
             if(x < top)    down =true;
             if(y > right)  forwd=false;
             if(y < left)   forwd=true;
             try {
                Thread.sleep(10);

    All of a sudden, emesene makes X restarts all the time. I can start the application with no problem. Logging in isn't a problem either but when I click on a contact or click on a menu like File, X restarts and I have to log back in. It happens with emesene from community, with abs and the latest svn version. When I run it from the console, all I see is a warning about the usage of a deprecated md5 module. Any idea how to resolve this issue?
    edit: Additionaly I found this in /var/log/daemon.log
    gdm-binary[1071]: WARNING: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X-error - :0 restarted

    After trying out everything there is to try, I decided to simply remove  ~/.config/emesene  which solved the problem. Odd, but you won't see me complaining
