IMac suddenly freezes with Little green stripes! What's the problem?
Was working and suddenly had this problem: whole screen and additional monitor was covered with little signs - 3 little stripes. No reaction on mouse or keyboard. After cold reset same problem
I suspect a hardware problem. I'd recommend taking it to your local Apple Store or AASP. You can try to run Apple Hardware Test though in Extended Mode.

It took all night to encode my video files into proress 422 using compressor.
I used compressor because FCPX would not even run or simply crash. Im using an Intel Mac 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 OSX 10.6.8
After the encode I'm able to work on FCPX but it's running like a snail, the video and audio will not play smooth and the windows or event library will not update after clicking the next folder. And if I use an effect or transition FCPX will crash.
Now if I use FCP7 everything runs so smooth and it runs light years over FCPX
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? I'm trying my best to like FCPX and really work on this project but I have lost two days of work, just by watching this application run so slow.your in the wrong discussion, go here:

I have not been able to copy and paste in firefox for the last two months. My research on the topic has led me to try the disabling all plugins, creating a new profile in safe startup, I removed appInit_dlls from my registry, could not find pushowxx adware, installed lastest version and updates of firefox, etc. All to no avail.

I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please heck if the following reg key exists:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.
Please check the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Note the location for: OutlookSecureTempFolder key
Check if the same folder exists in the following location and if not create a corresponding folder in the location on C:\Users\<User account name>\Appdata\Local\Software\Microsoft\Windows\......

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

When I had iOS 5, both FaceTime and iMessage would work great. Since I have upgraded to iOS 6, it says that there is a problem verifying my apple ID and then says that there was a problem activating. I have tried everything I can think of and none of it seems to work. I have restord my iPhone, I have used a different ID, I have tried it over a different wi-fi connection, and I have signed in and out of my apple ID Nothing seems to work. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have an IMac and I tried to get on it this morning, but it wouldn't start when I touched the mouse pad. I tried this a couple more times, and then I tried it with the keyboard. I got the same results. I know there are fresh batteries in there so I didn't see what the problem was, so I tried turning it on, and I got no reaction. My IMac is plugged in and everything so what's the problem?
Make sure the outlet is OK. could have tripped circuit breaker.
Then try resetting the SMC
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
If it still fails to turn on you need to make a Genisu Bar appointment at an Apple Store or contact Apple Support. -

Your original thought is correct - it's not a virus, and seeking an "anti-virus" solution will not help. It will, however, lead you down a well-worn path to misery.
From what you describe, you may have inadvertently installed adware. Eradicating it is simple and you don't have to download or install anything to fix it. For an explanation or how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for one possible solution read How to install adware. -
My Apple TV controller stopped working with my tv box. I changed battery. But the remote controller works in the store and it controles my iMac . What is the problem?

Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen. -
My July 2009 iMac with OSX Mavericks "iMac is not supported" when I tried to perform bluetooth with my iPhone 5. What is the problem. thanks

What is the problem with my imac, that ical has frequent pop ups that indicate I am not connected to the server. Gives me an option of going offline. This seems to have started when I began using icloud with all of my devices.
I discovered a simple work-around that is successful (at this point in time anyways) on my IMAC/Maverick when sending attachments (not inline or embedded) to PC users.
There are several threads in here on why attachments embed in mac mail when sending to PCs, and I have had similar issues. Not sure where the fault lies, but other than purchasing an additional program to make mac mail work as other mail programs work when it comes to attachments, I found no real solution that worked for my business PC folks. I did all the right things - sent my attachments in mac mail "windows friendly," "plain text," and "attachments at the end" and still got complaints when sending to my pc workmates using Outlook. I tried another suggestion I found here - zipping the files and sending the zipped file, but my workmates did not like that either and still asked why?
By trial and error I discovered that when I attach any pdf to the email as well as the questionable jpgs, the attachments arrive in their PC inbox as attachments that can be used as needed. I don't know why this works, but it has made sending attachments a happier task for my business group.
I would be interested to see if this works for others. -
If I try to send attachments on my Yahoo email, my iMac freezes up. I don't have the problem with my MacBook Pro.
The file format used by the iOS versions of the iWork apps can only be read by the new iWork apps on your Mac - i.e. Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Those versions for the Mac require Mavericks, OS X 10.9. The "too old" error on a Mac comes if you are trying to open an iWork '08 or earlier file in the newest apps. If you do have the newest apps you can open the files from your iPad.
If you can't or don't want to upgrade to Mavericks & the newest iWork apps your best option would be to export/share the files from the iPad to a type an older version of iWork can read such as Word, text, Excel, etc.
Or contact AppleCare. They made this mess, let them fix it. -

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

After installing the latest version on Itunes from System Update all my videos play covered with little green dots... Whats up with that??? Also I usually down load two epesodes of LOST before watching because one just isn't enough. Well aside from having little green dots all over the screen one of my Lost episode wont play at all... "Par Avion". It shows up in my Lost folder under TV SHows but it doesn't show up in my Purchased items. When I click on it it wont open either... However the lastest LOST, "The Man From Tallahassee" shows up and will play?? Itunes Store says I have all my down loads but I have not seen and can not open episode "Par Avion"..... Damm So this is a two part problem. Little green dots and the episode that wont open... HELP!@!!!only way I found to fix it it is selecting each episode 1 at a time in order and syncing after each one.
