Imac to ipad 3 rearranged photo order

Each time I try to export an album from my iMac  to my iPad (created in iPhoto after uploading from pixs from 2 camera's memory cards) it will not export it in the photo order that it was created in the album.  Even if it export the album back to a memory card-and insert in the iPad, it does the same.  I did transferred it to a flash drive and it was in the correct order. Thank you and thanks to the board, I did create a DCIM file to transfer the pixs.
Also, why cannot I not drag the photos from the iMAC to the camera chip instead of using the  export button.

Because you've bought an iPad 3, it contains the same amount of pixels, in fact possibly higher, with that of your iMac. I don't believe that the quality would diminish if this is the case.
You could check if the quality's still okay, send it as an e-mail attachment and check the file size. Compare to that of the photo on your iMac.

  • How to transfer old photos from iMac to iPad using iCloud Photo Library

iMac with Yosemite, iPad with iOS 8.1.  New photos taken on any device are shared automatically with all other devices.  But, older photos on iMac are not being shared with iPad or iPhone.  The options to synch selected photos on iMac with iPad don't seem to be there any more now that iCloud Photo Library is enabled on iPad.
I imagine that iCloud Photo Library's capabilities only apply to new photos.  Is there a way to move old photos over for viewing on other devices?

    John,
You can share selected photos to your Photo Stream, if you enable the iCloud features, or create an album of the selected photos and transfer them using iTunes Photo sync.
For iCloud see: iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ, iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams
For iTunes see: iTunes: Syncing photos
Or, simply mail them in high quality and save them from your Mail to your camera roll, if it are only a few photos.
    Regards

  • In iPhoto 11, on my iMac,I want to rearrange photos manually. However, when I go to view sort by, the 'manually' choice is gray. Is there a way to manually rearrange my photos?

In iPhoto 11, I want to rearrange photos within Events, however, when I go to view>sort by the 'Manual' option is gray. What do I need to do to be able to manually rearrange photos?
    thank you

Photos cannot be arranged manually in Events.  Create an album of the Event and do the manual arrangement there.

  • I cannot sync my events from iMac onto iPad in the same order since IOS 8.1.1

On my iMac ( OS X 10.6.8 ) I have in iPhoto 129 events with 19.000 pictures , organized in alphabetical order. I sync on a daily base with my iPad 2 , until 3 months no problem . I use the library as a working device also on spots without WiFi . Since IOS 8 my sync is f***** up . It is impossible to organize my pictures on iPad as they are organized on my iMac . Could someone please advice me on this.
    tnx

There have been many reports about this problem, but no solution. You can sort albums you create on iPad, but there is no support at all to sort the synced albums, faces, and events. The results are random.
You may want to send feedback to Apple, that syncing is no longer working as expected. Use one of these links:

  • Iweb rearranges photo order when making galleries

Every time I drag a group of photos to iweb to create a gallery it scrambles the alphabetical and or numerical order. How can I fix this? Help!
I'm using a macbook pro with 2.4 ghtz chip, Mac OS X (10.5.5), iweb 2.0.4. I do not use iphoto.
    Thanks

Are you just dragging the photos from the Finder into the photo's placeholder section? Set the folder to *icon view,* select all the photos and drag into the iWeb photo page. That should maintain the alphanumerical order that was in the folder/Finder.
However if you have sequential numbering I suggest you pad zeros to the sequential number if they already don't have them. By that I mean -001, -002, 010, etc. If you have just -1, -2 -10, they will not import correctly. You'll get -1, -10, -2, -20, etc. If you don't have sequential numbers tacked on the end of the file name then it should be a straight alphanumerical import.

  • I have a different Apple id on my PowerBook from that on my iMac and iPad. Photo Stream does not connect to my Powerbook. How do I change the Apple id in iCloud on my PowerBook? Will this link all 3 machines to PhotoStream?

You can't simply change the details.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

  • How do i rearrange photos in an album on an ipad

Can anyone tell me how to rearrange the photos in an album i have on my ipad?  is there a way to drag them to a new spot/order?

You cannot rearrange the order of photos in iPhoto for iOS.
You can rearrange the order of albums in the Photos app but this rearrangement does not transfer over to iPhoto for iOS.

  • How to export photos from iMac to iPad.

I have a 3 year old iMac & iPad 4. I have read the discussions and the very limited iPad manual. These pictures are in my iMac not on an SD card or in my camera. They were imported to my iMac from a CD. I read about syncing and starting iTunes etc. I need STEPS & what device you start iTunes on etc. None of the discussions state this. So getting my pics from my iMac to iPad I need to do .........? Thanks

Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Click on "Sync Photos from" and then select the folder where your pictures are located - usually on the Mac in iPhoto. However, you can choose any folder from the drop down menu in the Sync Photos From heading that you want to use.
Click on any albums within that main photos folder that you want to sync.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If all of your photos are in one folder on the Mac, you will not have any sub folders to sync.

The iPad and related software is designed to sync with only one computer. I suggest transferring the photos from one of your iMacs to the other so that all photos are on one Mac. Same for all other files you want to sync over.
To get those AppleWorks files to the iPad you'll have to determine if Pages will open them. If it will then use the file sharing feature of iTunes to copy them to Pages on your pad.
If Pages will not open the AppleWorks files directly you'll have to save them in some format that Pages will read. These include but may not be limited to Pages and Word formats.

You can transfer photos outside of iTunes. I do it all the time. THat said, i have a 50/50 success rate with them. I'd avoid sandisk and kingston, their bundled software triggers the 'too much power' warning.
I've had mixed luck with lexar, some work, some don't.
I did have good luck with an older 4 gig geek squad one.
Look for drives without software on them, without bright LED lights and I haven't gotten any larger than 4 gig to work, but that may just be me.
For a less troublesome way? h onestly, I use a SD card that I've formatted with the DCIM folder. I've never had one of them trigger the 'too much power' warning. Just make sure they're not SDXC. those don't work.

  • How do you rearrange photos in iPhoto's on iPad.

In the help drop down in iPhoto it says that you can drag to rearrange photos.  I can't get this to work and I want to reorder my photos.

That help item is only telling you that you can drag the top bar to make it larger or narrower. This rearranges the photos into one, two or three columns. I wish we could drag photos to put them into a different order but it seems one cannot.

  • Photo transfer IMac to IPad

When syncing my photo albums from the IMac to the IPad, the vertical photos rotate to the horizontal. I had 260 photos on the album. I also have 17000 photos on the IPad, but I have 11.1 gb space remaining. How do I prevent this from happening?

With iTunes. Go to your iPad>Photos and check "Sync Photos" and either select all or select the ones you want.

  • How to make imac recognise iPad photos

I previously started a discussion which got marked as solved when it isn't.
I want to delete photos on iPad .   iMac recognises iPad but not the photos on it .  I have tried iPhoto and the application Image Capture b ut the result is the same.
Can anyone tell me how to delete the photos?

It seems those photos are corrupted in some way. You mentioned that they were put there with the iPad camera connection kit

Are you able to interact with these photos at all on your iPad. Open them, Zoom, etc... If so will the share button work?

  • HT4972 How can i download a folder of photos from my computer and have them appear on my ipad in the same order as they were in on my computer

How can I download a photo folder from my computer and have them appear on my ipad in the same order as they were on my computer

The sort order on iOS 5+ is by the photos 'date modified' field, on iOS 4 it's the 'date taken' - so you will need to modify that field on your photos.
Or you could consider using a third-party photo management app such as Photo Manager Pro which allows you to change the sort order within the app e.g. by date, size, type or you can drag them into your own sort order.
