IMac to Win7 PC -- Help please!

Hello to all,
I have iTunes 11.0.1.12 (x64) on my iMac and iTunes 11.0.1.12 (x86) on my Win7 PC and i am trying to setup Home Sharing...the problem is that my Mac's iTunes can see the WinPC's Library, both in normal sharing and Home Sharing but the WinPC cant see the Library from my Mac!!
I have tried turing off the Win firewall, Mac firewall and rebooting both PC's but the problem remains the same, anybody help please????

What we have met is exactly opposite!
I can see the Mac's library on Win7,but I can't see the Win7 PC's library on my Mac.
I've down all the things I can do,such as turning off the firewall, rebooting, etc , which made me mad!
I consider that maybe we could have a communication so that we can both solve our problem .

Hi All, thank you for you suggestions. I have been unable to find any website for the maker, but have looked at several Thai/cambodian sites incl <http://www.buycoms.com/Article/8435/index.asp> which mentions the keyboard being suitable for tablet or windows. No mention of iMac! although the box is branded to indicate Mac compatable.
I'm thinking that maybe it just will not pair with an iMac.
Ill keep looking for the maker website, which might come on later in the future? maybe?

Imac 1.8 problem help please?

I have a imac g5 17" 1.8 ghz, i have already had the mainboard replaced (under apple care) I upgraded the ram to 2gigs... my problem is that my processor maxes out doing the simplest things like just surfing the web, it never used to do that could it be my hard drive or anything else.... I have the istat menues thats how i know its maxed.... just recently it stated to shut down randomly.. also when i put the computer to sleep it shuts down.. please help thank you thank you....

Ah! The old Safari bastardry , eh!
Safari can , indeed, be something of a memory hog, especially in its earlier incarnations, and , annoyingly , especially when accessing Apple's own pages! Who would have thunk it!. Some versions suffered from some very nasty memory leaks under Tiger.
What happens if you restart your computer and check activity monitor again?
I'd guess that there isn't much wrong with your Mac's hardware, but you do have some software problems. You might want to try getting rid of any Safari plug-ins that you are using, and also 'resetting" it by using "Reset Safari" in the "Safari" menu, with ticks ONLY next to "Empty the cache" and "remove all website icons".
My bet is that you will find that the amount of CPU it is using will decrease substantially.

I am looking to buy a new iMac....help please.

I am looking to buy a new iMac, and I started a search on Craigslist for fun, and it seems as if some people have some really good deals on the model mb325ll/a. It is the 2.8 ghz version with 2 gigs of ram and a 320gb hard drive.
This is not a model sold in the Apple Retail store, so I am a little hesitant, but the guy said it is the business model. Is this true?
What kind of warranty would it come with if I am an individual user and not a business? Do I miss out on anything? Please give any advice you may have. Thanks.

There is no such thing as a "business" Mac, versus one for an individual consumers. You should look at this list, and find your model and complete specifications.

If it is being sold as used, the standard warranty is in effect for one year after its original sale. If it is being sold as new, the standard warranty is for one year. You can check the warranty status using the iMac's serial number.

Setting up 4 iMacs in retail store - help, please

Greetings, all.
I am in the retail cellular phone business. Opening a new store soon, this one a Cingular authorized dealership.
I'd like to use Intel iMacs throughout the store, and am looking for some advice on how to best set things up, as I am still a relative rookie with Mac products (though I am now a dedicated convert).
Here's the situation:
1 iMac - manager's office, should serve as the host of the stores network
1 iMac - Point of Sale counter, to ring up sales via register software and for inventory tracking
2 iMacs - 1 each at 2 different stations, at which credit checks and web-based activations will be done
I also use a core duo intel imac at home as my primary home computer.
Here's what I need to do:
1. access the stores network from home, to remotely check sales and monitor usage (snooping on my employees, more or less)
2. if possible, remoteley access the isight camers on each store imac from either the imac in the managers office, or from home (ive read a little on this, but would appriciate tips)
3. have all store imacs use the same idisk, for storage of basic store related files, documents, etc., and also for storing the data file from the register software, so that i may access it from home to check and crunch daily sales
4. set up email and ichat accounts for each employee, so that employees may message each other and me from this store, and later from my other 3 retail locations.
i think this is a good start... im sure ill come up with more later.

my advise is to go to a local Apple retail shop with soem knwoledge above selling macs and let them help you.
Your questions respectively the answers may easily get more complicated than average topics here and you will want to have your business runnng without coming here on a daily base for further questions.
To give you a quick overview:
1. Get broadband network in you shop, then you should be able to log into the computers from home, if remote login is set up. You might consider buying Apple remote Desktop. Even so monitoring "Monitor usage" might be illegal. It can be done many ways with free software that takes screenshots now and then...
2. No ideas.
3. Broadband network... but I would consider to set up one local iMac as server and let the others use this one remotely...
4. Look for someone who can set up a mail server on one of your macs or buy .Mac accounts for each employe ... helps with iCat and allows the Groups feature of .Mac to be used.

CS5 Win7 Networking Help Please

I'm a home-based designer who needs nework help. I have CS5 Master Collection on a Win7 (Home Prem) computer which is peer-to-peer networked with 2 other Win computers (98 & XP). Win Exporer has no problem navigating anywhere on the network from any computer. However, Bridge CS5 on the Win7 computer (i5 cpu, 2.7GHX, 8GB Ram) shows "Lock" icons on all network locations; hangs when any network location is selected. Also hangs when launched from within Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign. I've searched these forums and tried various fixes having to do with security, permissions, firewall rules, clearing caches, etc. No luck. Adobe Support won't help me as it doesn't cover "network issues" such as mine. Their enlightened suggestion was to "move the files you want to browse onto the computer where CS5 is installed." Any real suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I'm not a programmer but I can usually doink my way to understanding.

Steve— Thanks for your suggestion. I didn't think to remap shared network folders, duh. (And even after Win7 Explorer forced me to do it to become part of network!) Previous versions of Windows allowed me as "owner" (administrator) to see, read, and write out of the root directory and all the other hard drives installed on networked computers. Win7 apparently doesn't or discourages it, even on the older computers, it seems (at least for amateur net administrators like myself). From Win7 Explorer I can and did remap target directories on the remote drives located on my Win98 and Win XP computers. Unfortunately now BridgeCS5 (on my Win7 computer) shows these remapped icons with big red "X"s through them. But these remote directories can be browsed and files manipulated. I still can't get BridgeCS5 on the Win7 computer to open from within PS, AI, or ID. But MiniBridge now works from within PS. If you have suggestions for fixing this BridgeCS5 functionality in AI or ID I'd appreciate it. I'll revisit your knowledge base and forums for this info because I'm spoiled by the way BridegeCS3 works on my WinXP computer. Otherwise I'll find ways to use Bridge outside of AI, ID, and the rest. My iMac keeps freezing. Help please?

I have about a 6 year old iMac w/iSight 1.9GHz Power PC G5 with 1 Gig DDR2SDRAM of memory. It is currently running 10.4.11 Tiger OS. It seems about every other day no it is locking up. I can't do anything other than shut it down to remedy the problem.
The only diagnostic thing I've done is reset the PRAM and repair disk permissions. This hasn't seemed to help the situation.
Any ideas? Would an update to Leopard solve any of the issues or is there something else I can do? I talked with one of the local apple stores and they said that they don't really do diagnostic type work. Is this true? I've got another local Mac type store that I can take it to to see if they can help?
I also need to update to iLife 08 to support a HD Sony video camera that I received last Christmas.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I'd like to just get a new iMac but I just can't right now.

This sounds awfully familiar--a lot like my friend's iMac that was doing the same thing. We added more RAM so it had 2.5 GB and ran SMART Utility, which passed the hard drive with no errors found:

We then reinstalled and updated the OS and all seemed to be well.
However, some months later the iMac made a "whirly clicky sound" and froze. My friend shut it down, and then it booted up to a flashing question mark. I had her boot from the install disc and navigate to Disk Utility, but Disk Utility could not see the drive at all, so it had obviously failed.
Based on this experience, there's a good chance that your hard drive could be ready to fail, even if the SMART status shows as verified. So your first order of business is to make a good up to date backup so your data will be safe.
Once you have a good backup, boot from your install disc and choose your language and then navigate to Disk Utility. Select your boot drive by brand name and repair it. Also check the SMART status.
Also run SMART Utility, which is a bit more critical than Disk Utility. If you get any indication that your hard drive is failing, believe it. Even if SMART is verified and the drive passes, it could still fail without notice.
What we did with my friend's iMac was to install the OS and other software onto an external FireWire Drive and migrated her data from a fairly recent backup. So far the iMac is running perfectly from the external FW drive, and this might be a possible solution for you if the internal drive is on its way out.
I have a related topic in this forum with some additional questions that might be of interest to you--at least if I ever get any answers to them.
Do all you can to check out your hard drive, as I suspect that it may be the underlying problem. If so, you need to address the drive before installing any other software.

2005 iMac G5 Startup Error- HELP PLEASE!

I'm new at this, so if I'm doing something wrong or posting this in the wrong community, I'm sorry. I'm just trying to get some answers.
I have a 2005 17 inch iMac G5- non iSight model. When i start up the computer the apple icon appears and then it changes to a completely grey screen and the fans start going at full speed. I have to hold the power button down to get it to stop. When I start it up again it changes to a screen that says:
"invalid memory access at %SRR0: 00000000.06610b84 %SRR1: 10000000.00003030"
It also says:
"to continue booting, type "mac-boot" and press return" (which does nothing)
and under that it says:
"to shut down, type "shut-down" and press return" (which shuts down the computer).
I'm not sure what is wrong with my computer, but I am really committed to trying to fix it myself. If anyone out there has any suggestions for me or ideas as to what might be the cause of the problem, and help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If this doesn't work: can you boot from the cd?
If this works, it means your software on the HD got scrambled, or your HD got damaged.
If it works, i would try to do an "Archive and INstall" (see here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh1103.html)
I hope you have backed up all the files you want to keep??

IMac Printer recommendations and help please...

I am looking for an all-in-one printer for my iMac 24. I have an older printer that i used to use with my old Windows PC, but have had issues with it on my Mac.
Any good recommendations are most welcome. Also, I used to scan stuff into Photoshop via WIA support. I am lead to believe that Mac does not support WIA so how do you scan into photoshop / Adobe acrobat etc fomr these types of All-in-one printers????

I am a fan of HP printers, currently using a Officejet 7410 all in one. One of the reasons I like the HP's is they have several models with wireless functionality meaning using Airport I can print, scan, copy and even fax wirelessly. This gives me the freedom to put the printer where I want as well as having fewer wires. The 7410 is an older design now however you can get the 7280, L7760 and others with wi-fi build in. Setting them up is extremely easy too, I was up and running within a few minutes.
You can go to www.hpshopping.com and do comparisons on a variety of printers and I'm sure be able to find one that meets your needs.

Brian - The batteries are fine and there has only every been one keyboard paired with it. We have tried my MacPro keyboard as well, and it will not even recognise that there is a discoverable keyboard nearby.

I got my artwork and saved it to my Desktop
Opened up Microsoft Paint and clicked on "File" and "Open" and found it to get it on the screen to resize it
Clicked "resize" and a box for changing it opened up
Checked the box "Pixels" and "Unchecked maintain aspect ratio"
Set Horizontal for 640 and Vertical for 480
Clicked on "OK" and went back to "File" and did a "Save As" and chose JPEG Picture
It came up "File Already Existed" and clicked "OK" (really did not care about the original artwork I found because wrong size)
Went to iTunes and on the movie right clicked on "Get Info", clicked on "Details", then "Artwork"
Go to the little box on the top left that shows your old artwork and click on it to get the little blue border to appear around it and hit "Delete" to make it gone
Click on "Add Artwork" and find it where you put the one from above on your Desktop and hit "Open" and OK and your new artwork is now there and all good.
Sounds like a lot of steps to follow but after around 5 or so you will fly through it. This worked perfect on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have artwork on my Home Videos now.

They don't even seem to have my correc date of birth so I can't progress the reinstallation. I'm currently abroad and have my iMac with me but with no way of contacting Apple that I can find, I'm at a loss and very reluctant to pay £35 to try and get my ID and pasword sorted out given that their system recognises my current details. can anyone help please?

when they gifted me the mountain Lion software several years ago.
Mountain Lion was introduced in July 2012. Did the people who gifted you possibly use their Apple ID for the purchase of your OS? If you used your own Apple ID, you should have simply used the one you use for all things app store. The problem with any purchase at the app store is: whatever Apple ID was used to purchase, it willl stay tied to that Apple ID forever. And, purchases from the app store are not transferable.
So, you can check with the person(s) who gifted you or spend $20 to buy it - or, if your hardware is compatible with the new OS Mavericks, you could download it and associate it with your Apple ID.
FWIW, according to the licensing agreement, the OS remains the property of Apple and you are only granted a license to run it.

It looks like that the installation process of one of the applications have caused some trouble. One of them may have changed or added kext files.
For that, the Window server crashed if you try to open a non Apple application like Firefox
Start the system in safe mode by holding the shift key on power on.
If save mode is reached, perform a permissions repair with the Disk Utility.
Don't bother about upcoming warnings like "could not repair file xy" as that occur cause you use the tool on a running system and opened files can not get touched by the tool.
After repair is done reboot system to normal and try to open Firefox.
If the problem persits, please report back here.
