Imac try to change resolution

Hi! I've an Imac G5 17" iSight... I've a strange problem... display sometimes became blue, like if I try to change resolution and in about 2 second all come back normal.. other times it happens the same thing but it changes resolution, and I see a very low resolution for about 3-4 seconds..then it changes again resolution to normal resolution (1440x900)
When the display visualize low resolution I can see in the menu display on the top a very long list of resolution, like if it could see an external monitor I think...
I've already try to reinstall Tiger but nothing...

Hi,
When you set your monitor to a screen resolution that it won't support, the screen will go black for a few seconds while the monitor reverts back to the original resolution.
Regarding screen resolution, we may follow the below two articles to change it:

Follow the steps below:
1. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking
Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.
2.Click the drop-down list next to Resolution. Check for the resolution marked (recommended). This is your LCD monitor's native resolution—usually the highest resolution your monitor can support.
And if the monitor is LCD monitor, The monitor's manufacturer or reseller should also be able to tell you the native resolution for your LCD monitor. Or we may check the monitor's manual to adjust.

I can't change video resolution on youtube. When I try to change it, it goes to 240p and the screen is black and the vid doesnt play.

Hello, I have this problem.
Recently I noticed, that when I try to change the quality of the video from the default 360p to whatever one, the quality will jump to 240p and the video wont run. There will be just black screen.
I tried resetting the browser and it did not fix my problem.
I tried the same video in internet explorer and the quality change worked normally.
How could I fix this?

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

External Monitor changing resolutions on Macbook

I have seen several people ask this question, but I haven't found a suitable answer. I have a MacBook running 10.6.8 at school. I teach and move from room to room hooking up to different projectors and monitors. The set up is just very unstable. Despite its supposed ability to remember settings, it rarely does and the resolutions are messed up as well as the display callibrations. I have an external monitor on my desk. Yesterday, I set the resolution to the native 1280x1024, when I plugged back in, it was back to 1024x768. For some reason, the higher resolution wasn't even appearing on the list until I fiddled with it.
Why is this so buggy on this MacBook running this OS? Is there a way to force it to remember display settings better? Any tips?
I know that other teachers have more problems than I do because they don't even know how to change resolutions or anything like that.

Try doing a Parameter RAM reset - hold down command/option/p/r keys at start up and wait for three chimes before releasing the keys.

Why can't I enlarge safari bar and bookmarks bar so the print is larger. I can only do this if I change resolution on display. I do not want to make my 27" smaller. Any comments?

After just installing Mountain Lion on mid 2011 iMac 27" I find it does not allow increasing size of font for Safari bar and Bookmarks bar. The print is so small it is difficult to see. I can change resolution of screen but the the size of the screen becomes smaller. Not what I had in mind when I bought this iMac. Is there any fix out there and is Apple working on this problem? Imac only has 2 resolutions

My wife's Mac changed resolutions - possibly as a result of running a full-screen game.   She says it has happened before.   I told her to reboot and let me know if that helped.
It didn't, so I went to settings to change its resolution, seeing only 2 options, 1920 x 1200 or 960 x 600.
I told her tonight to turn her computer all the way off, meanwhile I would see what I could find out.
What should I look at to trace down her problem?

The genius did two things I should have thought about:
1.   Boot to an external drive - this showed all of the expected resolutions, indicating a software, not hardware error.
2.   Ran a permissions repair.
So after that did your system show the proper resolutions when you boot from it? I ask because if it did it would be one of the few instances I've heard of where repair permissions actually fixed something! Or...
While the permissions repair was being run, she checked databases and discovered that this problem gets fixed by reinstalling Lion.
...is this the "solution" the "genius" came up with because you still didn't get all the resolutions after the repair permissions?
So I went home and prepared to reinstall Lion.    In a couple of days her computer room will be painted and re-carpeted.   So I set it up in the basement, tested the access to the Internet, and rebooted with my OSX memory card pluged in (pressing option).    I started to run Recover, but my computer says it needs to be connected to the Internet.    I could not find anything to set up from this boot, so I will take the computer upstairs and plug the Ethernet cable in it and try again.
Meanwhile, how do I fix it so that next time I don't need the Ethernet cable?
Without an installer disk (or flash drive) I think you must have an internet connection to reinstall Lion.

Changing dpi changes resolution

Does changing the dpi of an image change the resolution of the image without changing the size?
I have an image that is 300 dpi that I need to enlarge 400% changing the dpi to 75.
I don't think manually changing the dpi to 600 will actually change the clarity of the image when enlarged 400%.
Is that correct?

First, DPI (dots per inch) is different to PPI (pixels per inch) despite the terms very often being wrongly interchanged. Photoshop works with pixels, not printer output dots.

Changing resolution with "Resample" enabled will result in changed pixels, but no change in the physical size (inches/cm/etc.) of the document.
Changing resolution with "Resample" disabled will result in unchanged pixels, but there will be a change to the physical size of the document.
You will not increase the clarity of an image by enlarging it.
The best way to learn what happens is to try things and observe the results.

Tried to change resolution in gnome, now cant run it

I seem to have gotten into the increasingly unpleasant habit of screwing up a desktop environment within the first hour of installing it....
I just installed gnome, was playing around with it, and I tried to change my resolution (silly me). The screen then went blank, returning me to gnome login manager. Any further attempts to run gnome were greeted with similar incidents, forcing me to run KDE instead.
So,
1. Anyone know how/where I can edit my gnome resolution via the shell? Searchs mostly returned suggestions to modify xorg.conf, though I doubt this is the problem, since kde runs just fine (well, I suppose that depends on how loosely you want to define "fine". anyway....)
2. Why does gnome get angry when I try to change my resolution?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Not really sure what gconf file needs to be edited for you, but you could try using this cli tool:
gconftool-2 -s /desktop/gnome/screen/default/0/resolution --type=string 1024x768
use man gconftool-2 for more info. Hope this helps.

Changing Resolution of webcam video capture: The captfoss method.

*'captfoss'* proposed a method to change the resolution of video captured using webcam in [this post|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10596731#10596731] . Then I posted a working example in the same thread which used the same method to change resolution to 640x480. Here in this post I just want to post the actual method which makes the resolution ( infact format) changing possible. This method takes the DataSource and the target Format as parameters and returns true/false on the success/failure of format change. The method is as follows:

Using that method, I have made a small utility which allows you to capture in all the supported formats (of webcam). That is meant for demonstration only and I am going to post it in next post (maybe next 2 posts if it exceeds character limit).
Any suggestions to improve the utility would be appreciated. I confess that it is not the best and requires improvements. But it serves its purpose, i.e. demonstration, successfully.

Well, I only buy my RAM from one of the two most recommended RAM vendors here: OWC (macsales.com) or Crucial; not sure if the dual channel would have something to do with your problem, but I'd test with the old RAM - if it works, then it appears to be the RAM or try the Apple hardware test (run that in extended mode at least twice).
FWIW, I've not seen a positive post about Corsair; Macs have always been extremely finicky about their RAM.

My Excel with PowerPivots acts weird, it hangs when i try to change font color

I am facing a weird issue using PowerPivot in my workbook, there is a worksheet named Charts in my workbook and all the charts i am using resides in that worksheet. Whenever i try to change the font color in that sheet, my excel's color palette goes blur
and then everything just freezes and turns black. This problem is happening only with Charts worksheet, when i try to change the color in other sheets, it works just, the problem is only with Charts sheet. File
size is 16 MB, there are just 10 pivot tables with some calculations and some calculated fields. There are no add-ins other than PowerPivot.

Do you receive any error message?
Which Excel version are you using? Excel 2013 or other?
Which workbook format are you using? XLS or XLSX?
Are you performing any specific task?
According to your description, this issue seems only occur with the special worksheet "Charts".
Firstly, I recommend we copy all of the content to a new/blank Excel file to test.
If it works fine, this issue might be caused by the "Charts" workbook itself. We'd better check the "Charts" workbook. Or re-build the file with a new workbook.
If it still makes Excel hang with a new file, this issue might due to the content. Please check the content first.

Did any body try to change Oracle 10g SSO login page with custom login Page as we used to do in 902 and 1022 versions by changing wwsso_ls_configuration_info_t table entries?
It seems that there is now other file policy.properties that has entry for login page.
Is there any documentation provided by Oracle on this?
I checked metalink and SSO admin guide?
Any clue or glue....??
