Imac turns off itself

I just bought my iMac 27'inch 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 and occasionally it turns off itself, i have checked the PCU and it is fine, not sure if there is a deficiency in this particular machine. Please advise.
Thanks.

Hello, i have an iphone 5 and it turns off itself. happened many times since i got it replaced from apple bar. i tried to re install the software but still no solution. any idea what can be wrong?

Mine it's the same! Did you solve this already? Right before it turns off, it has a fade away screen or shows stripes! Then automatically turns back on! Now this problem happens more often!
I've reboot the iphone and restore it but still does the same.
How can I resolve this please?
    Thanks!

3.- I disconected the computer form the wall and wait for some minutes, and it did no do anything.
4.- After about 20 minutes i tried again and turned on by pessing the on and off button.
5.- The imac turned off again and disconected form the wall and conected to another electrical contact at the wall, adn it did not turned on.  i wait for some minutes and turned on again, but after about five minutes it turned off again.
6.- I left the imac connected to the wall for a couple hours and i tried to turned onn by pessing the on/off button and it did not turned on.
7.- I left all night connected form the wall and tried to turn it on this morning and it did not turn on.

    Any suggestions

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • IPhone4 keeps turning off itself

I don't know what trigger this. my iphone4 is previously on iOS 5.0.1 and it keeps turning off itself.
but when i plug it to the power, the phone turns on, BUT when i pull the plug off it turns itselff off.
it's like the phone has no power left.
yesterday i connect my "dead" iphone4 to itunes and enter the recovery mode and restore it to the newest firmware (5.1.1) but still the same problem happened.
anyone could tell me what should i do ?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  If all of these troubleshooting steps have been done and the issue still occurs it is time to take the device to Apple for evaluation.

  • Ipod turns off itself ( full battery)

    Hi
My ipod turns off itself every 20-30 minitues..because "no battery power" (its fully charged, really). It works again if I turn it on. What's wrong with my ipod?
    Thanks
    ipod mini   Windows XP

It may be that the battery needs replacing. You shouldn't rely on the battery meter, it's well known for being inaccurate.
Try this test, and if it's a poor performance, get the battery replaced (especially if it's still under warranty).

  • When I click sleep, Imac turns off not just sleep

When I click sleep, Imac turns off not just sleep. Any fix?

    Hi Hank,
    Some things to try...
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
(SMC reset=  Shut down, disconnect power cord for 10 seconds, reconnect power cord, wait 5 more seconds, turn computer back on)
but it is slightly different:   (PMU REST = Shut computer down, disconnect power cord for 10+ seconds, reconnect power cord WHILE SIMULTANEOOUSLY PRESSING POWER BUTTON, let off power button for a few seconds, then press power button again to restart the mac mini.)
Can also be caused by USB or Firewire devices.

  • IMac turns off spontaneously during start up

My iMac turns off during startup any suggestions as to why?

Try running Apple Hardware Test on your computer. Also repair the hard drive with disk utility.

  • IMac turn off by itself

    Hi everybody
My iMac has been turning off repeateadly in the middle of a job. When it does it, I cannot turn it on again inmediately. I have to wait to next day, some times even longer. If the cable is plugged in, I cannot turned it on. I've tried everything. Changing the cable, changing the power font, etc. Some people say the problem is with the mother board. As a consequence of this, my disk drive didn't work anymore.
I have been told this is a factory problem and that Apple is recognizing it. Does anyone know abot it?
    Thank in advance

T update; I get the blackout without the restarts and tried all the suggested remedies on these forums with no relief. I can see light from the grill covering the ram access port so I do not think it is fully shutdown but will not respond to any wireless input devices so I must press the power bottom on the back to restart It which it does in a normal fashion. The machine does not seem to be running hot (much cooler than my black Mackbook) . I guess I will be bringing it in but I do not feel optimistic given the posts by users who did so and did not get a fix. I think this issue will take some time to resolve. I just wanted to add my two cents.

  • IMac Turns off by itself!!!

If I leave my iMac on for more than a day, it turns off by itself! After you turn it back on, the date always says it's December 31, 1969 and the time is always many hours ahead, even when it's set to use a network time server. Is there anything I can do about this?
    iMac G3   Mac OS X (10.1.x)

It sounds as if your CMOS backup battery has failed. I don't know if there's anything you can do except arrange to send the unit back to Apple for repair, but you may get a much better answer if you repost the question in the proper forum: this one is for the new Intel based iMacs.

  • Imac turning on itself and shutting down randomly

My 2011 iMac started having this weird problem today. Basically, when i turned it off in the morning and left for work, it started turning itself on and off multiple times while i was away. When i got home, I tried turning it off, and it would turn itself on after anywhere between 1-2mins.
The boot screen shows up and i would get the booting sound, then it would restart itself and do the same thing over again.
I unplugged the power and waited for a while, then the imac turned on correctly, but as soon as i set it to sleep, it would fail to wake up. Now i can't even switch it on; the keyboard and mouse would lightup(third party ones) but nothing shows up on the screen and no boot sound. 2 seconds later the lights go off and it would try to restart again.
Again, I have the 2011 i5 imac, with a samsung 830 SSD installed not long ago. Please help!

holding D doesn't work, the computer just boots up for 2 seconds, you can hear the fans turn on, but shut itself off right after that and tries to boot up again.
I installed the SSD like 6months ago too, if there was something that i forgot to connect back it should had happened long time ago no?

  • Imac turns off, no apparent reason

my imac suddenly turns off, completely, no apparent reason and intermittently

I'm experiencing similar issues. The iMac will just power down as if the power were pulled from the wall. Screen goes blank and you hear the fan slow and stop. Worried that this will cause problems on the disk. Ever since snow leopard was installed there have been a few issues. This one has been manifesting itself in the last year or so... The console just shows a timestamp for when I turned the machine on but nothing is logged right before the shut down.

  • Iphone 5S ramdomly restarts, turns off itself, screen shows blue screen sometimes

I am having problem with my iPhone 5S since Tuesday. The phone restarts itself while using like during making calls or surfing internet, the phone turns off automatically and sometimes shows blue screen. I called apple support and they told me to connect my iPhone to iTunes and they had me reset everything like factory resetting and stuff like that. After we did that the phone started working but very next day again I started having same problem, my phone completely turned off by itself and I couldn’t turned it on by pressing power button so I went to apple store at Grand Central made an appointment and I waited there like 45 minutes for my turn. I explained everything and the guy from genius bar he pressed menu button and the power button together and boom… the phone was back on. He checked the phone and says nothing wrong with the phone and I told him everything about the issues. He said if problem happens again come back and we will replace your phone as I recently bought this IPhone and is still under warranty. I came back home and again my phone started acting up…same problem you never know when your phones gonna be turned off….somebody calls you don’t hear nothing funny part is those people who are calling me says phone keeps ringing you don’t pick up. So I made an appointment today I went back to Grand Central apple store, I explained everything today in detail and told them I am using I phone since the time when Iphone 3G came in and I have other iphones too at home and none of them had this kind of problem before. I am really upset with my phone, it's giving me hard time. The guy checked the phone and said phone is working fine nothing wrong with it. Now what I am gonna do? I said please give me replacement phone ‘cause I think there is something wrong with this phone hardware, firmware whatever…He said he can’t, he thinks I am lying. Why should I waste my time going there back and forth after work when you are so tired from your job? Can anyone please suggest what could be the problem?? How to deal with this problem? Thank you

Call in again and explain the situation.  Ask to speak with a supervisor.  There are things they can do to document and confirm your issue that way you can get it serviced.  Just be sure before returning to the store, you have a case number from the call where they documented to service the device.  This process sometimes takes a few days as domes the supervisors need to escalate your information to ensure an outcome in your interest.  That would be my recommendation.
