Imac under guarantee was swapped with refurbished iMac

Hello ,
to make a long story short : On the 18 th of november I bought a new imac 27 inch in our local apple store . After about two weeks I got some hardware issue's with the imac . Since it was covered under guarantee I took it back to the store . They checked it and there seemed to be some problems . The salesperson swapped my imac with a new one . So far , so good . I registred this new imac on my personal profile page on apple . When checking the technical telephone support it was already over date . I thought there is a three month telephone support on the date of purchase ? So when I buy a new imac on the 14th of december , I should get technical phone support untill the 14th of march ?
Also , when checking my one year guarantee the date states 1 september , very strange when you buy a imac on the 14th of december . So, the only thing I can imagine is that the swapped mac they gave me is a refurbished model and not a new one . Is this the policy that apple follows when swapping a mac under guarantee ? Is there anyway to check if the swapped imac is a refurbished model looking to the serial number ?

Most companies will repair or replace with a refurbished unit; occasionally, you will get a new unit. That is up to Apple. Did you take the first one back within 2 weeks? If there are problems right away, you could have claimed DOA (dead on arrival) and then gotten a new unit.
As for when the warranty date starts on a replacement unit (refurbished or new)  - the best thing would be to call Apple and find out; unless there is an official Apple policy published, we (as users) probably would not be able to give a definitive answer.

    I tightened all HD screws and it didn't help. With the machine running and side of the case off, I physically stopped both the video card fan and the front case fan with my finger for a couple seconds and the noise continued. I also took all hard drives out one by one and rebooted each time. Again, the noise continued until I took out the Mac HD in Bay 1, rebooted, and I had a very quiet, silent machine. The issue is the hard drive in bay 1 that shipped with the computer, it's without a doubt causing the hum/woosh sound. I still need to know if I can safely swap the Mac HD from bay 1 to bay 4 without any issues to the operating system. I would like to try that to see if it dampens the noise but I also want to make sure this swap won't screw up my machine at all.

    Yep, just install iDVD (plus sounds and jingles) and iWeb if you want it (but note that iWeb apparently won't work if you upgrade to Mountain Lion).
    Then use Software Update to get any late iDVD updates.

    The backup saves many settings, but it copies photos and other files from the computer back to the iPad after IOS5 wipes the disk.   Plugging it into her computer will re-sync it.

    How is the C6200 connected to the iMac, is it via USB or Wi-Fi? If it's via Wi-Fi please make sure it's connected to the router using the printer's Network Wizard. Then click System Preferences - Print & Scan and assuming the iMac is on the same network as the printer, if it is the printer should be seen. If it's not then click the + sign and add the printer.     Hello, sounds like Video card  and/or heat problems.
    Have you blown the dust out lately? Let it cool for an hour or so.

    One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
    PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
    If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode).

I was primary using my IMac but now I must use my Windows Machine and when I try to sync my iTunes library it wants to reformat my IPod. The library on my Windows machine is a old copy of my music and if I reformat my Ipod I will lose over 400 songs that are on my IPod and not on my Windows machine. Is there anyway I can get my IPod to again work with my IMac without reformatting it?

    No. A Mac formatted iPod, cannot be read or written to on a Windows Machine. If you want to make that possible, you'll need the help of some third party software such as [XPlay|http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay]. If you go that route, you'll need to copy the music from the iPod Nano over to your iTunes library on your Vista computer.
    If you can't or are unwilling to go that route, your only other option is to salvage the music off your iMac's hard drive and copy it over to your Windows computer.

    Another problem is that in Bridge (version 2.0.0.975) I can no longer see thumbnails of RAW files from my Canon 40D that I saw before.
    Should I upgrade ACR? which is the latest version supported on my Mac?

    Our enterprise has it's own WSUS server we have to sync from. The problem may be at that end, not mine. A sync will start and will fail about 4 minutes later. Our network guy watched the traffic leave our compound but saw only a trickle of traffic coming

    Yesterday I worked on a inumbers document on my mac mini. No problem. 3 hours later I would open the same document on my ipad. It told me that there were 2 versions and I had to choose one (surprisingly bouth had the same time/date). Since then I can't open this document anymore (regardless if iphone, ipad, mac mini): "The sheet can't be imported. The document was created with an unsupported application version." I worked on this document more than 1 year only on my ipad, iphone, imac... how can i get it worked or back? Other documents are still working properly.

    The first part of the warning message was in german, so it's probably not translated as it really appears in englisch:
    Massage on IPad and IPhone: "Tabelle kann nicht importiert werden. The document was created with an unsupported application version.
    Message on mac mini: ""Verbrauch.numbers" kann nicht geöffnet werden"
    What changed since is also, that the mini privew for this document no more exist; it shows just the inumbers icon in the sheet. The other documents around this one appears with preview and can be open, e.g. are working fine.

    Development box is hosting ASM and 3 rdbms instances. databases are at 11.2.0.1, ASM was upgraded to 11.2.0.2 before I inherited it.
    Prod box is hosting ASM and 2 rdbms instances. Databases and ASM/GI are at 11.2.0.1.
    Started upgrade of GI to 11.2.0.2 and it failed the prereq check, stating there was insufficient swap. Machine has 21.5gb ram, 11.1875gb swap.
    Going back installation guide for base level I see that it also recommends 16gb of swap for that amount of ram, but I don't recall seeing that in the guides that came with the upgrade. If so, I must have glossed over, thinking that since the base level was installed we should be good on any fundamental prereqs like that.
    The dev box - where GI was upgraded before I started this job - has 23.5gb ram and 15.6gb swap.
    On the prod boxe the ram was upgraded after the current software installtions. I believe the same happened on the dev box.
    I'm waiting on a response from the SA on the feasability of upping the swap but in the mean time wondered about the expected fall-out of overriding the pre-req check and proceeding with the upgrade.

    About 5 months ago I purchased an Apply iPhone 5 from Verizon with a contract, and was feeling good about it. All was well with the device, and looked completely brand new when I opened the packaging.
    However, yesterday, following about 5 months of joy from the iPhone the screen started going black for extended periods of time. Then after awhile it would come back on. I have never dropped the phone or allowed it any water damage or anything, so I decided to call Apple to get it looked at. However, they told me there was no warranty on the device, as it had previously been replaced. My initial reaction was, "What? I've never gotten this replaced? I mean, I bought it brand new, or so I thought." I talked to a guy at Apple and he said that sometimes carriers give out refurbished phones on accident or purpose, to customers, who assume they are buying a brand new product. The only time you are guaranteed to get an 100% brand new phone, is when you buy it from an Apple store.
    So, I'm a little upset, because now there is no warranty for the phone and I'm stuck with one, which does not work.
    What do I do? I feel if I call Verizon they will say "SOL." Nothing we can do.

    The iPhone 5 is a great phone, but I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with the device. We absolutely want to make sure we get you back up and running.
    I can assure you that the phone is brand new.  If the phone was Certified Pre-Owned it would have been marked as such on the box that it came in.
    Does the screen go black when you perform a specific function?  Please try a soft reset,http://vz.to/RfHijN.
    Every device we sell comes with a one year manufactures warranty, so if you're still within that time frame we can replace it at no cost to you as long as there is no physical or water damage.

    I'm running an application that receive some messages (mail)
    I'm running under server 2012.
    For some reason the messages are stop to being received due to the session that is being closed.
    i can read the log saying:
    HTTPS ReceiveProcess(): Null segement received
    Closing session, dispatch Timer: 60000 ms.
    The underlying connection was closed: A connection that was expected to be kept alive was closed by the
    server
    Changing session Thread Time from 60 000ms to 2000ms.
    BatapWebService socket closed.
    Can anyone tell me how to fix that it's very annoyin that is closing the connexion and my messages are not
    being received.
    I need to restart the server each time to be able to receive all messages.
    is that a parameter i have to change?

    What exactly is the application?
    What is giving you the error? Is there a specific Event ID number and Source name?
    I haven't seen a segmentation error in quite some time. The last time I saw one it was due to an app trying to do something on the OS side that the OS didn't like. I believe DEP protected it, but it was long ago and I don't fully remember the details. It
    was a custom written app and the programmers corrected it.
    I'm not a dev, so I can't help with the app itself.

  • Is apple providing ipads under iOS 6? Even refurbished?

    Hi,
    My iPad 3 started to show strange behavior yesterday, pretending to "download" apps when I was trying to launch them, then failing to download them.
    No way to close them, only delete them.
    Thus I decided to restore the latest backup, not an update. I was under iOS 6 and don't want iOS 7 (aka Android).
    Despite the fact I said NO to all update request, and to stop asking me about updating, it did.
    Now I'm left with that 7.1.1 tablet.  I'm very upset to say the least.
    Since there is no way to go back to iOS 6.n, does anybody know whether Apple still provides iPads under iOS 6 in the refurbished program or are they forcing that iOS7 on each of them now?
    Any link? I'm not willing to buy from eBay, only an official refurbished iPad under iOS 6.

    I found a Wifi64Gb with iOS 6.1.2 and will remain with this, just as I won't move out of Maverick for the same reasons (next OS/X is likely to get the same iOS7 "design").
    No, Win95/7 did not excite me at all. Windows products are no OS to me, even though 90% of my developments are targeted at them (I have no choice).
    No I never changed the interface of my software in a manner that the end user finds something totally different. The only adjustments were what was requested by my users, like menus, functionalities, but not the look and organizational flow.
    I changed designs and/or way of using the software only for new products that started with an empty user base.
    Yes, if I toss Apple in the future for Android or Windows it's because at least I would buy the "real thing", not an OS that then changes to be a pale copy of an already bad product, without questions asked, imposed and no way to get back.
    At least when MicrobeSoft released the "ribbons" instead of the menus, you still could use previous Office versions and buy them, you were not forced to get the Ribbons.
