IMac will no longer accept password...

Hi everyone,
Had an issue with my Mid 2011 iMac model recently. I am selling it so I attempted to erase my hard disk. I was told I can only do this once I have reinstalled the Snow Leopard operating system in which I received in disc form when I publshed the original iMac. So I reinstalled Snow Leopard (and it appeared to work) but before the desktopcame up a blue screen appeared asking me to log-in to my account. I done this, but it is not acceping my password, it is completley rejecting me. The correct password hint appears and that is correct, but aside from that it is not accepting my password.
Does anyone have the idea what the problem is? I would grealty appeciate the help!
Calum.

It appears that you did not erase your hard drive before installing Snow Leopard.

  • My iMac will no longer accept and download updates?

I have not been able to install updates for some months now - time is tight and knowledge is poor!  But I think I really need to address this problem now.  Can anyone help please?

You show as running Tiger 10.4.6, is that correct?
The final version of Tiger is 10.4.11:
The 10.4.11 Combo Updater for PPC Macs is here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL170
And for Intel Macs here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL172
As Tiger is now obsolete and no longer supported by Apple, there will be no further updates.

  • IMac will no longer connect to my Airport wireless network

I set up a wireless network at home using Airport Express some time ago, but as of yesterday my iMac will no longer connect to it. The name of the wireless network still appears in the list of visible networks but when I try to connect it just times out. The iMac is only about 12 feet away from the Airport Express access point, and both my MBP and my iPhone are both able to connect as normal without a problem, but the iMac will no longer connect. I have made no changes at all to the network, or the iMac - it just no longer connects. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Jason.

If everything else is connecting with no issues, I would go into the wifi setting on the iPad and redo the info there, user, password and anything else related to your wifi at your house.
It is possible whatever he reset may have reset something to default setting which will not allow it to connect. If you need too then verify the wifi setting by comparing it with another device setting that works on your home network.
    Good luck

  • My iMac will no longer go to sleep on its own!

    Help!
My iMac will no longer go to sleep on its own! No matter what my settings are under 'Energy Saver', the computer will NOT go to sleep. Rather, the monitor will just turn off and the white light on the front of the computer will come on. The white light does not 'throb', so I know it isn't sleeping.
I'm not running any weird applications preventing it from sleeping, I've tried booting in safe mode, and I've tried resetting the SMC.
This is a RECENT problem - I think it started occurring after installing the 1.0.1 firmware OR Mac OS 10.4.6 update. Does anyone else have this problem??
    AHH! Thanks for your help!
    Jonathan

    Hey everyone -
    Thanks for your suggestions.
David.Austin - yes, my power LED does not fluctuate, so I know the computer isn't sleeping, the display is just 'off'. I do have all my disks set to go to sleep. This is a recent problem - everything used to work just fine.
joejoe - I haven't yet tried zapping the PRAM (or NVRAM), but I give that a shot and reset the SMC (SMU) again. If that doesn't work I'm going to have to do a... re-install.
I'll report back with my results. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem.
Agreed - there is something wrong with one of those two updates.

  • ITunes will no longer accept my password

The same password I have used previously will no longer get accepted so I changed it and that will not get accepted either.  Any suggestions?

First, I made sure on the Apple site that I could sign into the iTunes Store to make sure I was using the right password for iTunes and it was.  However, when I went to redeem a gift card on iTunes, the box kept popping up asking me to enter my password over and over again and I could not get past it.  I am on my MacBook Pro, OSX 10.6.8 and my iTunes version is 11.1.3.  I shut down my laptop, restarted, made sure in Safari pop ups were not blocked, private browsing off and preferences set to Never deny cookies and I emptied the cache.  I forced quit iTunes and then relaunched it.  This worked.

  • Mail will no longer save passwords

Mail suddenly eliminated the passwords for all of my mail accounts, and now it will no longer save any password that I type into the account panes. After increasingly slow performance, I figured that defragmenting and optimizing my startup drive might help, so I did so (via TechTools 4). Unfortunately, after doing so, I have had many Mail problems, including the problem started here.
What must I do in order to get Mail to again save passwords I type into my accounts?

  • Mail will no longer accept my password

I recently upgraded to Lion and moved my MobileMe account to iCloud. After experiencing problems with some of my apps, I switched back to Snow Leopard (10.6.8, Clean install). I'm now having issues logging in to Mail from my Mac, as my password is being rejected. This problem didn't exist when I set up my account after moving back down to Snow Leopard. Rather, it started a couple weeks ago. I can still login to iCloud via Safari and all of my mail continues to come in on my iPhone 4S just fine, but not on my MacBook Pro. I tried deleting the account in Mail and adding it again, but I can't continue the account setup, as the password is getting rejected from the setup window.
Not sure if this is the issue, but since switching back, I can no longer upload (Share) photos or videos to my Gallery via iMovie or Aperture, since iCloud doesn't work with apps running in Snow Leopard. It's a minor inconvenience that I can live with, since those services will be dropped in June anyway, but is the problem with Mail the exact same same issue? Because System Preferences in Snow Leopard wants to sync with MobileMe, which, as I mentioned before, I am no longer a part of, since upgrading to iCloud.
Am I on the right track here? Do I need to give up using Mail on my laptop, until I can upgrade back to Lion and iCloud?

Cannot get G Mail to accept my password, even after changing it.  Cannot get on-line to send or retrieve messages.  Help?  Roger1289

    Hi Roger,
Does gMail's WebMail work with the same login & password?
Here are two steps that have come in handy in related situations
    1) login to gmail on your computer or device via a web browser
    2) once logged in successfully, go to this URL to unlock:

  • My iMac will no longer boot after half installing Maverick (only the essentials package was opened). How can I reboot it back to 10.8.5?

I was able to get a copy of OS X 10.9, but it wasn't the one straight from the App Store (which is free and I wish I knew before I got this other copy, but oh well). There is nothing wrong with the copy, it just simply doesn't initiate the install when you double click on it.
I installed one of the packages (essentials) off file, but not all the rest of them. For some reason the other packages weren't opening because it wasn't accepting my password, so I restarted the computer to see if that would make anything better.
It didn't. It now boots to the grey apple screen and stays stuck loading. I assume because only some of the install disk was installed, it doesn't really know what to do. But how do I fix this? How do I unistall the essentials package so that it goes back to normal?
I tried booting it whilst holding down "Command+Option+P+R" and it takes me to a limbo area where you can access disk utility. Within disk utility I can see that everything is still there.
What is the process to get it back to normal (I previously had 10.8.5).
    Please help!

    Thanks for checking in, BDAQua.
    Problem solved.
In the docs that came with my Powerlogix accelerator card, I found this sentence buried:
"If you reset the PRAM, the NVRAM code for OS9 compatibility is cleared, so you will have to boot from the Firmawre Update CD and perform this process again in order to boot in OS9."
The "process" it's referring to is the process of setting up the NVRAM for booting into OS9 from the CD.
Fortunately, I was able to find the disk, and it worked as expected. I can now, once again boot into OS9.
Conclusion: My (unadvised) attempt to load Leopard on this old machine apparently reset the PRAM on the accelerator card and cleared the NVRAM code for OS9 boot. Although I did attempt to reset the NVRAM via Open Firmware, it did not reset it on the accelerator card.
So, thank you BDAQua, for your "Ah yes" . . . that's all I needed to steer me in the right direction.
    Gratefully,
    tupester

    Hi All,
When I put in a audio cd in my Imac slot-loading it doesn't reconize the cd and says: 'You have placed a cd in the computer that can not be read by MAC OSX..........'
(I've translated it from Dutch into English, so I hope it is still understandable...)
I really don't understand why this suddenly happens, because it has always run well... other cd's like blank ones and the ones with other media still work.. Help! What to do? I want some music
