IMAC will no longer boot into Windows 7 with Boot camp

I can see the partition on the Mac destop and can access it.
The windows options is available when I hold down the option key when booting but the computer appears to just hang.
I have been unable to get the Imac to boot off the Windows 7 dvd or a repair disk.  I just get a white screen.
I could sure use some help trying to get the computer to boot back in Windows.
Thanks in advance.

Oddly enough I turned off the computer for a bit and turned it back on and it boot right into windows.......
I did have my Samsung phone plugged into the usb hub.....I wonder if that was causing some issues...weird.

The last line in your post says "I've just re-partitioned and restored to Mac full partition again so I need to reboot and see if that works"
Rebooting should take you to OSX provided you removed the BC partition correctly (using Boot Camp Assistant)
I am not sure what you mean by the rest of the post "So I restored" restored what?
It sounds as though XP was either not installed or not installed correctly, what happens now when you reboot?

  • Booting into Windows with Unsupported Video Card

I'm looking to buy a Windows-only video card. I'm currently using the Apple branded 8800GT and want to use an nVidia GTX 290. If I change my target drive to my Windows partition, will the system boot normally into Windows if I only have the GTX 290 installed or will I still be required to have the 8800GT in place in order for the EFI to launch normally?

Set your sits on PC 285 maybe? Your 295 will require more power than available and has been a stumbling block for all that tried.

  • X79A GD45 Slow start and slow boot into windows with SSD

Im having some major issues with my X79A GD45 board, When I start the system it takes about 30 seconds sometimes more for something to appear on the screen and from cold boot it starts stops and then starts again before loading.
Once its loaded it is taking forever to get into windows Im running 2 6gb/s SSD's in raid and the windows logo is able to appear and flash 3 or 4 times before I even get into windows.
Ive tried it with just a single drive and re installations of windows but get exacly the same thing its driving me mad as Ive spent so much money on this machine. Details of my system are below:
    MSI X79A GD45 v1.0 Bios 1.6
    Intel I7 3820
    Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1600 Cl9
    2 x GTX 680 in SLi
Creative Soundblaster 3D Recon Fatality Sound Card
    2 x Sandisk Extreme 240gb in Raid 0
    Silvertone Strider 850w PSU
    LG Bluray Writer

Updated the SSD Firmwares and it made no difference. Ive already tried single drives and the same. The drives are installed into SATA 1 and SATA2 ports the 6gb/s ones. The hang time is atleast 20 seconds at the splash screen alone before loading into windows. I checked the event log for booting and this is what it showed:

  • Boot Back Into Windows With Boot Camp

    Hello,
I am running Boot Camp on a Mac Book Pro. It runs extremely well except for one issue. When the mac goes to sleep for a short time minutes to a few hours, and I click a button, the Windows screen is there ready to use. But, if it sleeps over night, I can not click a button to wake it, I have to click the power button and wait for the boot cycle again holding down the option button so I can choose the Windows drive again. Am I missing something is settings so no matter how long the system sleeps it will wake back into the last running operating system?
    Thanks Jr

Check on the hibernate settings by going to the advanced power options as posted by Loner T above. Look under the sleep heading, see pic.
While sleep puts your work and settings in memory and draws a small amount of power, hibernation puts your open documents and programs on your hard disk, and then turns off your computer.
    It can be disabled.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920730

  • IMac with bootcamp and parallel boots into windows 7 but won't boot intoxc lion.

IMac with bootcamp and parallel boots into windows 7 but won't boot into Mac OS lion?

    Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. Actually that was not the problem, because I had the Mcintosh drive set as my boot drive. The answer was that my Lion Os got somehow corrupted and I had to reinstalll Lion. This was all after I discussed the situation with the Apple Support people.

  • Can I install Windows on my iMac 27, 3TB Fusion Drive, late-2012 with Boot Camp 5?

Hello. When I first opened the Boot Camp Assistant app, it said it could not work with the 3TB fusion drive. With the updated version of Boot Camp, the option to install Windows appeared. I tried to install Windows 8, but the loading bar stopped moving. I waited for hours, but it still did not move. I decided to quit the app, and re-open it, in order to try again. It crashed, and would not open. So I restarted my system and when I did that I noticed that I had about 1GB or so left of storage. This shocked me, because the disk was just suddenly filled for some reason. In hopes of fixing this I used an app called 'CleanMyMac' to try and recover the disk space. And as I thought the disk space returned to normal. However when I went to Disk Utility and clicked 'repair disk' it said this...
There is only 1 partition, so the Boot Camp process did fail.
I don't know whats wrong with my system though? I would like to install Windows, but I'm worried that I might recieve errors again. I have not got Apple Care, but I'm playing on buying it soon, due to it being almost a year since I bought the system.
Maybe I did something wrong when trying to install Windows with Boot Camp? I don't know, but if possible can someone please tell me if I can install Windows and if something is wrong with my system.
Here is some additional screen shots of the type of system I have.
Thank you for your help with this issue!

Which copy or version of Windows? and how where was it purchased?
my window installed itself perfectly on another computer.
One copy and you want to activate on two computers?
With 16GB, it will try to create 16GB hibernation file, 24GB page file, and need 20-30GB for the OS, plus room for temp, cache, applications, 9GB just temp to install SP1 update(s).
did you create 80GB or larger partition?
also, some macs with ssd + hard drive have issues, and of course you need Windows 7 64-bit home premium (Pro to use more).
OWC has up to 32GB, not cheap.

  • If I want to run OSX Server and also want to run Windows 8 on Boot Camp, will server still run when I boot into windows?

I want to set up OSX Server on my iMAC running Mavericks and also install Windows 8 on Boot Camp.  If I do this and boot into Windows, will that prevent server from running while I'm in Windows?

No.  Bootcamp, as you've described, requires rebooting into your chosen operating system.  If you want to run both OS X and Windows at the same time from your hardware, look at virtualization tools like Parrallels or VMWare.

  • Can't get past gray screen for OS X but will boot into Windows partition.

Hi- I am really desperate for help here.
Restarted my computer this evening when Front Row wasn't able to find the files on my external HD. When it booted it went directly in to my Windows Boot Camp partition. So I restarted, held down 'option', choose my OS X disk and just got the spinning sun icon on the gray screen for several minutes. It then booted into Windows again. If I hold down 'option' again I can cut it off before it gets to Windows.
I've tried booting into a cloned HD via FireWire and same results.
I've tried booting with the install disk (c key held down) and it won't recognize it.
I've tried Safe Mode (shift key) - same.
I've booted into Single User and done fsck and and it says everything is ok.
    - BUT I did notice it says further up- "BSD: rootdisk0s2, major 14, minor 2". Are these errors? If so why didn't fsck find and fix them.
I've tried resetting PRAM and SMC.
The only thing I have done out of the ordinary was an hour before I was trying to get some of my files on my wife's laptop and went into permissions on my HD and changed "Everyone" Priviledges to Read (or maybe it was Read and Write) then chose "apply to enclosed items". This change took about 20 minutes.
The computer is, of course, just over a year old and has worked perfectly up until now.
    Someone-Please!!!

Tried that and it just doesn't read the disk. I've booted it with the disc already in and held Shift and also tried it with "C". The same for putting the disc in just as it boots up.
I went into Single User mode again and compared the text against what shows up on the laptop. Their are a few differences. At the very beginning of the iMac text there is:
    npvhash=4095
    hi mem tramps at 0xffe00000
    PAE Enabled
    64 bit mode enabled
    -then-
Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpicomponents; use only one style.
Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpicomponents; use only one style.
-then- after "MAC Framework successfully initialized" comes this three times...
Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpicomponents; use only one style.
These are really the only major differences that I can see in the Single Mode screen.
I also have tried booting from the Firewire drive clone on the laptop but it is not an available option for booting. The disk partitions mount but have a lock in the corner and say they cannot be opened because I have insufficient access privileges.

  • FreeBSD didn't install, i can no longer boot into Windows

I unsuccessfully installed FreeBSD and I can no longer boot into an OS from the HD.  I attempted to install BSD onto the "G" drive below however the the install gave me some kind of storage error and I can no longer boot into Windows.  While going through the BSD installation process I opted to NOT install a boot manager (I incorrectly assumed that this would leave my existing boot manager intact).
Here's how I was partitioned pre-FreeBSD (these are all partitions on the same SATA 80GB drive):
    C:\ Windows ME
    D:\ Windows XP sp1a
    E:\ Windows XP-64 beta
    F:\ Longhorn 64 preview
    [G]:\ unpartitioned 4GB
    [F]:\ uformatted 4GB
    H:\ NTFS Storage
    I:\ FAT32 Storage
Before I attempted to install BSD, I used c:\boot.ini as my boot manager.
Now when I try to boot it says:
    Code: [Select]
    Invalid Partition
    Invalid Partition
    No /boot/loader
    FreeBSD/i386 boot
    Default: 0:ad(0,a)/kernel
    boot:
    Invalid Partition
    No /kernel
    FreeBSD/i386 boot
    Default: 0:ad(0,a)/kernel
    boot: _
Has anyone else ever had this happen to them?  If so how can I reenable booting into Windows?

    Hi
You got a prob I think, if you can boot a windows, MSconfig, startup options might restore the boot files.Only other thing is to try and either load a new windows and let it setup a boot file, or perhaps a win98 startup disk, and fdisk, then set active partiton, which will set an MBR.  But that would leave a load of work to do, I think I'd opt for an install of XP, and let it repair existing installation, and make a new boot file.
Hope you don't need the info on disks.  If you do, I would install another HDD, load XP, then copy original Disk to save place.
    Good luck

  • Will MSI Z87 MPOWER Motherboard boot into Bios with Devils Canyon?

    Hey guys !
I decided to take the plunge and update to a Devils Canyon i5 4690k and purchased a MSI Z87 MPOWER motherboard which was on special. I know I need to update the bios for this cpu.
I forgot to check something crucial !
Will i be able to boot into UEFI Bios and update the Bios with this CPU ???? I have only used ASUS Mobo's and they have the bios flashback feature. I'm worried i'll have this great mobo and cpu and not be able to update !!! I don't have a standard haswell cpu to use just to update the bios to support Devils Canyon.
Could someone confirm if it will boot allowing me to update via the MSI Bios flash method.
I still have time to cancel the order if need be.
    Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not quite automatically. It will recognise the CPU but may not properly work or boot. You can try booting into Windows/other OS, but you might need to update BIOS.
Once you have the updated BIOS prepared on the USB stick, you just boot from the USB stick and it will give you some instructions etc to follow, and that's all about updating.
As last resort if it won't let you do it, you can take motherboard to some PC repair center where they have SPI programming tool and they'll update BIOS even without the CPU inside

    Hi,
If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD.  Download the relevant ISO from the links below.
    Windows 7 32bit
    Windows 7 64bit
You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  Once created, or if you already have this, tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Insert the Rescue CD.  Select Boot options ( usually f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and hit enter.  You may also get a prompt to 'Press any key to continue' - do this if asked.
When loaded, select Repair Your Computer and choose the Command Prompt.  When this loads, enter the following commands and hit enter after each one - include spaces as shown.
    Bootrec.exe
    bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
    c:
    cd boot
    attrib bcd -s -h -r
    ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
    bootrec /RebuildBcd
    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
Remove the Rescue CD and try rebooting the notebook.
