IMac with Matte display?

I don't see any matte display options on the new iMacs and that makes me sad.
Is there any rumor that will get one in the near future or apple have turned it's back to matte displays for ever?
Are there other ways to have a matte display?

There are no iMacs with matte displays and per the terms and conditions of this forum we cannot speculate on future products or reasons for Apple's decisions. New iMacs were just released today so I doubt you will any changes for many months to come.
Someone may pipe up with options for a matte display but in the 4 years the aluminum Macs have been available I haven't seen a good option for one yet.

No one but Apple would know that.  Per the Terms of Use for these forums, we are discouraged from discussing possible new Apple products or changes.

    None from a practical standpoint.

  • When support After Effects Ray-traced 3D the GPU of the new iMac with retina display (GPU: AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB)?

I would like to know whether After Effects CC Ray-traced 3D support the GPU of the new iMac with retina display.

It never will. This is nVidia-exclusive technology and the whole things is deprecated, anyway. You better learn to use Cineware, buy a 3D program like Pro Animator or Element 3D or learn a proper 3D program.

  • Are there any new 17 " MBPs with matte display out which run properly?

    Hallo,
I am about to buy one 17 MBP with matte display. But now I ve read all these posts and
I hesitate to order one. I don't want to have all the trouble to send it back and then wait
again. So, are there any guys who can not report these graphic issues?
    Yours
    Matthias

CD = Core Duo, the 1st generation of 17" MBP from way back in 2006. It was flawless when I got it. It's still running perfectly 3 years later. Only issue was a bad battery, and that was a known manufacturing problem at Sony that affected Macs as well as PC laptops. Apple extended the warranty to cover the issue, and replaced mine for free ~3 months after my one-year warranty expired. Two colleagues have the new 17" unibody MBP, one with glossy and one with matte, both are flawless.

  • New iMac with Retina display has attracted a group of ants. Why?

New iMac with Retina Display has attracted a group of ants to nest in it, while they ignore my old Macbook Pro. What is in the new laptop that attracts the ants? The Apple Support set me up with an appointment at an Apple Store and the Apple Store says it is Apple policy not to touch it with the Ants in it. Wasted 2.5 hours in travel time and in the store with no solution.

Its the electrical charges that attract them, they sense them as other critters to eat / talk with
the swarm of tiny DC power fields inside a computer, and the charges across the screen attract insects that have EM sensors on their exoskeletons. Its a come hither spotlight for insect critters.

If you want them out, which of course you do.......make a sugar trap for them.... a trail from the computer to a little pile.  One screams the treasure to the others, .....they all come running, then you brush them away, or some other insidious method.

  • Is there a mbpro 15 retina with matte display?

I wanted to know if the new MBPro 15 retina are arriving also with matte display.....?

Not to be found.  The retinas are not as glossy as the glossy MBPs but are not as 'matte' as the as the glare MBPs.  Neither chicken nor fowl.

  • 20 inch 2.4Ghz iMac with 2nd Display

Is there anyone out there using a 20 or 24 inch 2.4Ghz iMac with a 2nd Display with Aperture?
I'm interested to know if Aperture 2 will perform adequately, or whether the demanding graphics requirements of Aperture will be over-extending the iMac graphics card with a second display.
My dilemma is that my G5 with Radeon 9600 graphics doesn't really cut the mustard, and the display of my 20 inch iMac isn't suitable for critical image editing applications due to the graduation in screen brightness from top to bottom; so until I can justify the move to a Mac Pro, my options are either getting the (increasingly hard to get) x800 XT card for the G5, or (and maybe the better option?) a second display for the iMac.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Forrest Smyth

Thanks Mark - yes I have an iMac as well as a G5 with AGP graphics and the 9600 card, so it's a toss up between buying a second display for the iMac, or a x800 XT card for the G5. My iMac also has 4Gb of ram compared to the G5's 3Gb.
My thinking is that by going the iMac with a second display route, I will have the advantage of two displays for not a lot more than the cost of an x800 XT card (if I can find one), in a system that is [possibly] snappier running Aperture. The fly in the ointment could be the extra overhead of a second display on the iMac - so I'm hoping someone who is running Aperture with dual displays on an iMac might read this and provide some feedback.

  • 2010 iMac with thunderbolt display

    Guys,
I'd like to extend my 2010 iMac with a second 27" display. Initially I was considering going for a 27" thunderbolt display as this is the only display type that us still for sale. However, from browsing the forum, I understand that the 2010 iMacs have a mini display port which is unable to drive a thunderbolt display, is this correct? If so, what are my options for a matching 27" monitor?
I was thinking of the following options but I would like to have someone confirm the possibility.
    1) use a mini display port to thunderbolt adapter: does this exist? Would it work? If not I would say apple removes additional sales because people are not going to update their iMac just for a thunderbolt port, they will get a non apple monitor to play nicely with their iMac.
    2) more expensive, but use a new thunderbolt iMac and use the old iMac *** an external display: I read on the forum somewhere that thunderbolt devices can output to mini display port displays using mini display port cables. Is this true? If so, would I be able to expend my desktop this way?
    3) can I still buy a new mini display port 27" cinema display to match my 2010 iMac?
    Thanks

The 27" Cinema Display is still available new from the online store, would be perfect for you.  Also, don't be afraid of the refurb models available as well.  Good way to save some money and get the same warranty coverage as new.  Typing this on a 27" refurb iMac.  Love it and saved a ton.

  • IMac with LED display rather than LCD?

I was in the Apple Store checking out the new LED display and I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about the iMacs being updated with LED displays in the near future. Thanks.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
no one except Apple does know when and what models they will release.
And the Tems of Use http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa here do not allow to speculate of future Apple products.
MacRumours http://www.macrumors.com/ is a better place for it.

  • Anyone else having trouble connecting MBP with thunderbolt port (TBp) and 27"iMac with mini display port (MDp)

I have a 27" Imac.i7 with mini displayport and MBP13 i5 with thunderbolt port. Some time ago I tried to connect my old MBP with miniDP  to The 27"iMac I Failed so did the apple centre they refunded cable costs and said I'd be contacted by Cupertino. That was 9 months ago, now replaced MBP with 13 inch(**** I can use my iMac as display!). Does not work phoned Fast Lane very helpful guy called JIM emailed me some software/firmware update links.  Still no display linking. One of the links was for a couple of updates for a TBp equiped 27" iMac mine is only MDp equiped. Failing to find any MDp updates in apple support.  Anyone have any Ideas!  My lad has a later 27"i5 he uses Xbox 360 no problem on his but it wont look at my MBP.
Beginning to feel like some of the kit that went with a fully loaded 5500 worked eventually. Computer and FM radio, Photography kit fine, video capture audio capture forget it.  Too many crashes and resets made it impractical.

  • 24" imac with second display that flickers on and off randomly

Hi, I'm a n00b here, I've read a handful of threads before posting this a I cant seem to find a definitive answer.
I have a 24" 2.4Ghz aluminium iMac and I've recently purchased a HP zr24w 24" IPS panel as a second display, connected with an apple miniDVI - DVI connector.
The screen flickers off, to totaly black every time the mac seems to be having a hard time doing something, be it fast scrolling, flash video, but someimes randomly.
I have boot camp installed with winblows vista (for work) the screen does EXACTLY the same thing, all be it less frequently. This for me rules out the Mac OS, i think it must be something video card/driver related.
Was there ever a fix for this? most of the threads seem to just die with no official answer, it would appear that MBP users were ok until the last 10.6.3 update, when the problem seems to have returned, although i think thats a different issue with the same net effect.
I have spoken to apple care and the very helpful girl I spoke to send me some logging software which I've run and sent the logs back, that may help them out someway.
Any help would be GREAT !!
    many thanks
    Michael

well, some time has passed, here's where I'm at so far.
I tried a friend's samsung 24" screen and all was good with the world, no flickering on and off, no black outs nothing, for days it was all fine. I swapped the HP monitor back on and it went right back to its old ways. I called HP tech support, they decided that the monitor was faulty, i returned it to where I got it from and they have sent me a new one. Which was fine, for about 7 hours!!
So, to recap, the mini-DVI to DVI adapter is fine as it worked on the samsung screen, the HP screen is brand new and exhibiting the exact same issue as the first one (cant be 2 faulty ones surely) The samsung screen was fine.
This leads me to think that there is some compatibility issue between the 24" imac and this particular (hp zr24w) monitor.
I have followed apple support's requests for data logging but they cant find anything wrong there.
I'm out of ideas, any help would be GREATLY appreciated !!!
    thanks

  • Help with installing OSX Lion on iMac with broken display

    Hi,
Having some trouble installing OSX Lion on my 5 year old iMac which has a broken display.
The display has been dead for a couple of years now and I've been using an external monitor without any problems. Today I decided to upgrade to Lion - I downloaded the installer from the App Store and started the install which rebooted the machine. After reboot I'm presented with a grey 'thatched' background image on the external display and nothing else, no menu bar, installation menu etc.
I presume the internal display is showing the menu I need but I can't see it as that screen is broken. Is there a way to turn on mirroring during the install process so I can use my external display? I've tried various shortcuts held down during startup - OPTION-F14, CMD-F1, CMD-F2 - but none have worked.
If this isn't possible, is there a way to abort the Lion install process and go back to using my Snow Leopard install? Whenever I boot the machine I am taken to the OS X Lion installer and don't know how to get back to my Snow Leopard install. I tried holding down OPTION key on startup to choose the list of available OS installs, but again, the internal display is being used so I can't see what to do.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Genius idea, thank you. Was able to step through the install procedure using voiceover and the screenshots on this page http://www.macstories.net/mac/os-x-lion-installation-guide-boot-discs-and-qa/
Definitely a first for me, installing an OS with voice only

  • Installing OSX on 24" iMac with broken Display

    Hi,
I have a 24" iMac but the Screen is broken. It still worked with a external Display connected via MiniDVI but now i would like to install OSX 10.6. The problem is that I can't get the Installation to show on the external Display and I can't see what I'm (supposed to be) doing on the iMac's screen. With the DVD inserted it boots up like this (I can't even get the DVD out now):
Is there a working Shortcut (I tried cmd+F7 and cmd+F1) or other way to install without the main screen or is there at least a way to retrieve the DVD?

If you had another Mac you could do a remote install to the iMac 24".

  • My new iMac with Yosemite displays photo icons with a white border.  How can I remove this border?

How can I remove the white border/'frame' around the photo icons, which I store in folders other than iPhoto?
My computer is an iMac 27" (Late 2014 5K Retina display) with Yosemite 10.10.3.
The border does not exist on any photos /images created on my MacbookPro (Lion) or any earlier computers.  It appears after importing to the iMac and only then after saving in either Preview or Photoshop Elements.
I have looked in all "Preferences" but could not find how to remove the border.
Any advice will be gratefully received.

Thank you for the reply. I wanted to wait awhile in order to ensure that this corrected the issue. For a brief while, it did! However, it did not take long before the screen began once again hijacking my home button presses. This occurs even with Firefox removed from default applications ( triple-checked ).
This never happened before version 35.
