IMac won't save data to an SD card that has lots of free space

I have an intel iMac running Tiger (10.4.7) and I bought an SD card reader at Radioshack. I used it with a 2 GB SD card that I got as a gift. After saving some picture and music files to it, it stopped accepting new files. Anything that I try to copy to the card will just give me a window in the Finder that says there is no more space on the card, but on the "get info" screen and on the SD card's Finder window, it says that it has 1.61 GB free! I also tried it in my Nintendo Wii, and it wouldn't copy any files to the card. What should I do? Is there a way to format the card and start over? Or do I have to return the card and the card reader. This happened before I ejected the card, so it wasn't that I didn't remove the card. I made sure I was careful when removing the reader+card from the computer anyway.

Please accept my apology for leaving you hanging (family member with broken down car) here are a couple of article's that will help explain what you now have found.

What do you mean it won't save date?  What exactly are you pressing and what happens or doesn't happen?
    Try this:
Open the Calendar App and Tap Calendar at the bottom of the screen. Make sure all calendars have checkmarks, then Tap Done.  Do your events show up now?

No, it won't work.. the Airports are not media devices.. they have no brains .. no media extensions.. and itunes must be running on a computer.
You can however watch movies from storage but not with itunes..
See how people use tools like VLC to get around Apple's built in iTunes limitations.

  • Form created in ES4 won't save data entered in acrobat readerXI

I have created a large form in Live Cycle Designer ES4. If I save the form as a pdf and open it in Acrobat Reader XI I get the message that I cannot save data entered in the form only print it. All I want to do is to put the form on our web site for people to download, complete, save and e-mail it back to me. I did consider an alternative method which is if I distribute the form and take the distributed pdf and save it locally, when it is opened in Reader you get the submit button on teh purple bar on teh right hand side. This will confuse a lot of our users so if there is a way to not have the submit button then that would work but how do I stop the submit button appearing on the purple bar?

You have to Reader-enable the form. You can do this in Acrobat 11 by opening the form in Acrobat and selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
Reader 11 can save non-enabled AcroForms (forms created in Acrobat), but not non-enabled XFA forms (forms created in LiveCycle Designer).

You'll have to watch the video and buy a few tools to extract the driive.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/
Then use something like this to connect to the other Mac or PC with MacDrive installed.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/U3NVSPATA/
You also can get the same adapter elsewhere online for as low as $12 I've seen.
Likely it's a USB 2,1 which your Mac's can only accept USB 2,1 anyway, no need to pay more for a USB 3 unless you want too.
No compensation for site or product mention
You likely should be having a professional or Apple tech attempt to bypass the firmware password if you forgot it, it's the best way to go about things.
Just because the Mac has a spinning wheel gray screen at boot doesn't mean it's ruined, you just need to bypass the firmware password and then from there fix the machine's cause for not booting, which is likely a software issue from a third party kernel extension file.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
You should know that opening the iMac could likely ruin it and will ruin any warranty or AppleCare, and if it's a Early 2011 model or later you can't replace the hard drive yourself as Apple has proprietary software installed on the drive that needs to "talk" to OS X to control the fans speeds.
    Good Luck.

  • Form won't save dates

    Hi all,
I am using Adobe Acrobat 6 Standard at work.  We have our time cards on acrobat forms.  My problem is that every time I open up the form and enter the dates, then close it, then re-open it, the dates all revert back to an earlier form.  They will not save no matter what I have tried.  I am guessing that it might have something to do with Javascript or Automatic form updating.  ???  Could anyone help with this problem?
    Thanks!

Sorry, I did not mean to insult you. A lot of the problems we tackle are just that simple. We do not know where folks are coming from and have to make guesses on what they might have done, often starting with the obvious. Actually, the Save As is not that obvious since most folks start with the Save. For the dates they should do the same thing. I won't bother asking the other obvious questions since it sounds like you already have tried what might be suggested. Good luck.

  • Net Config Assistant won't save data?

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem, but whenever I run Net Configuration Assistant (10G), I can add a service name and test it sucessfully, but it never saves it to the tns_names.ora file. I have tried deleting this file and recreating it from the sample, but it still won't read. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Best Regards,

You have to hit "Finish" (or whatever the button is labled at the moment) once you've tested the service name before it will be saved. 99% of the time people have this problem, it's because they just exit once the test is successful.

  • 27" i7 iMac Won't Turn On (or when it does, it has taken at least 15mins)

Performed a search and did not come up with power issues regarding the new iMacs.
Mine does not turn on immediately upon pushing a power button.
It took about 10 to 15 minutes yesterday when I turned on for the very first time. This morning, powering on for the first time after turning off the unit at the end of the evening, it has been over 30 minutes and still nothing.
The unit is receiving power, however, and when I put my ear near the unit I can hear the HDD trying to start (sounds like a lawn mower not starting after pulling a starter cord - though obviously much quieter than that). This is confirmed by attaching a USB external drive that does the same thing.
Once it's on, there were absolutely no issues with the machine.
I did speak with Apple over the phone but no resolution - will have to schedule a trip to one of the Apple stores.
    Anyone experiencing similar issues?

Since posting this thread, I noticed that there are a few more DOA iMac threads popping up. Loose RAM enclosure is an interesting take. I did make sure the screws are tight, but in my particular case, I can hear the hard drive repeatedly trying to start and then stop. The fans come on together with the drive as I feel a whiff of air when I put my hand close to the top vent.
The fact that the machine eventually turns on and the operation during that time has no problems, I figure it's purely a power issue in my case.
Unfortunately, this particular issue for me will remain unresolved as Apple Rep I spoke with this morning and I have decided it's best to send the unit back.
I hear others' frustration too, but give Apple phone reps a break - it's not exactly their fault, but they have been taking the blunt of your frustrations. The particular rep I spoke with actually thanked me for being so reasonable and relaxed - I figure he had been screamed at yelled at plenty enough already. Just be patient and let them do their jobs - in fact, if they appreciate your reasonableness, they will go extra mile for you. (this coming from a person who had his post deleted from this forum due to unacceptable tone and language regarding FedEx last week, lol). iMacs are still in demand and production cannot keep up with the order influx - there is no way around it.
The conventional wisdom regarding avoiding autos from the model year when they have been launched or have undergone major model change applies to computers as well. There will always be some issues and kinks to be straightened out; it's a price one has to pay for being an early adopter. That reason, and the fact I have come to believe that my needs are better served by expandable MacPro despite macrumor recommendations, made me go for a refurb MacPro instead that will be delivered tomorrow with almost zero downtime (with a 26" NEC monitor).
For those who insist on having their iMacs replaced, keep your fingers crossed and be patient.
One thing I have learned from this experience is that Apple (and FedEx) have very good customer service and in Apple's case, the quality of their support has won me over - to me, the Apple pricing is akin to paying an extra for professional-grade equipment (such as appliances and retail lighting fixtures) that ensures one's business suffers minimal loss thanks to their impeccable support when something goes wrong.

  • Is there any way to save data from a broken Iphone that still turns on but computer wont recognise it?

My iphone 4 was thrown at the floor and smashed. It charges still, and switches between showing the apple logo on screen, to blank, and then sometimes to the initial start up screen where it asks me to connect it to itunes. When plugged into the computer however the computer doesn't show it in Devices, and it doesn't appear in Itunes. I am wondering if there are any options to try and get all my photos and contacts off it in particular.  I am not sure if itunes backed up the data when i updated the phone previously... Thank you so much for any help, i appreciate it so much!

If a repairer was too look at it and they are not with Apple, you would void your warranty entirely.
To check previous backups, go into Edit>Preferences>Devices on Windows, and iTunes>Preferences>Devices for Mac, that will show a list of backups

  • Can I recover data from a hard drive that has crashed?

My computer had frozen up so I had to restart it by holding down the power button. After I had done this, I kept getting a recurring kernel panic error. I had taken my MacBook the Apple Store and the tech who looked at it said that my hard drive was no longer good and that I would either have to replace it or purchase a new laptop. Regardless of whether I replace my hard drive or just purchase a new laptop, would there be any way to get my data that I lost off my old hard drive. I have some stuff backed up, but not recent data.
    I appreciate any advice. Thanks

You could try putting the old hard drive into an external hard drive case since it sounds like the drive isn't completely dead.
Here's a cheap SATA external hard drive case on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/SATA-Hard-Drive-Case-Enclosure/dp/B001AAVA08/ref=pd_cp_e_0

  • Can you recover saved data on a Time Capsule that has died?

I came home today to find that the green light to my Time Capsule was off.  Did all the usual fixers...and after going to the several posts on a DEAD TC...I guess I have latest one.  In addition to backing up my PC...I had a bunch of saved documents also.....can these be recovered or should I just can the TC?
    Thanks for any responses!

With power supplies on ebay for $25 it is just as cheap and easy to unplug the power supply as it is to remove the hard disk and buy a cradle for it.
Power supply. Replacement left sitting next to the old one right. The covers have been removed and replaced.. Just make sure you get the 34W supply for the 2TB drive. The early supply was 30W and could not handle it.
Pull out the supply.. 3 plugs.. Mains in, Sata power and board.. and plug the new one in.
Only because these are fairly plentiful and much cheaper now.. it might not even last long.. but at least to recover your data and erase and sell as a working unit that is fair enough.
(not sure how long the post will last with pics of open TC??)

  • OSX - When I 'save all' attachments the resultant file name has %20 instead of spaces.

When I choose save all attachments from an Email the attachments are saved in the required directory but all files that have a space in the filename end up with a %20 instead of the space.
eg. attachment received "My new file.pdf" becomes "My%20new%20file.pdf" when saved into a directory.
This does not happen when I save each file individually. Which is my current workaround.
Any thoughts on how to solve this?
    Running Thunderbird 31.2.0 with Exquilla
I just checked whether it is something to do with Exquilla/Exchange. The problem I am seeing is with Emails to an Exchange account. I just forwarded an Email to another of my Email accounts and when I did 'save all' on the received attachments they saved without the %20. Which gives me another work around but...

I might be able to experiment with this a little.
Are you running a recent version of Outlook Web App (i.e., Exchange 2010)?
When you save files using IE, what format are they in (e.g., EML, RTF, HTML)?
