IMac won't search for trackpad and keyboard after restart

I've recently experienced problems using the trackpad and keyboard to wake up my iMac. Twice in the last 2 months we have been unable to wake the mac, so we would use the power button to restart it, and when it came back on again the keyboard and trackpad would be fine.
However, the same thing happened yesterday and when we restarted the mac it refused to search for the bluetooth trackpad and keyboard. normally if we have an issue we'd get the "connection lost" then "connected' message, but none of that is happening. Both devices are on, and the batteries are fine. I've tried using a usb mouse but there's no response with that either. We're stuck on the log in screen

The classic turn off and on (disconnect power cable etc)? Just gave that a try, didn't work I'm afraid. Thanks for your reply though Barry.

Having to wait for Trackpad and Keyboard to work when waking from sleep, any solutions?

I have a 2012 MBP 13" base model (OSX 10.8.2) and when I first brought it was really fast at waking from sleep (lid being closed) and the trackpad and keyboard would work instantly. I'm having exactly this issue. I have a 15" MacBook Pro SR as well. It's happened four or five times since I installed Leopard yesterday. The trackpad works but the keyboard is completely dead. Also, choosing "Restart..." from the Apple menu doesn't work, as other apps fail to quit and (if I quit them with the trackpad) I get an error that the finder has failed to quit. As with JGB5, this happens after the MBP wakes from sleep -- sometimes resleeping/reawakening it fixes it, but sometimes the keyboard dies a couple of minutes afterwards anyway, and a restart is required.

My iPad2 quit connecting to wireless network. Won't turn on, won't search for networks, no connection

A couple of days ago, my 1 month old iPad2 quit searching for wireless networks, won't recognize my home network, and the wi-fi connection won't stay on. I can switch it on, but it doesn't do anything (won't search for wifi) and as soon as I move away from that window, it switches back to "OFF". Anyone have a fix for that, or is it a problem that can only be resolved with returning the product for repair or replacement?

If no change after resetting network settings on your iPad and/or after restoring your iPad with iTunes as a new iPad or not from the iPad's backup, your iPad has a hardware problem.

Macbook Air Trackpad And Keyboard Unresponsive!! PLEASE HELP!

Hello everyone, a while ago (about 2 months) my Macbook air started having troubles with its trackpack and keyboard. At random times they would become unresponsive and just stop working. They would work for like 1 second when the computer turns on but then it would stop. A couple weeks ago the problem stopped occuring the keyboard and trackpad were working fine and dandy. Of course until last night, I open the computer and the trackpad and keyboard won't work.. The keyboard lights are on and the power button works but nothing else does it is extremely frustrating! I did an SMC reset which worked for like 5 minutes until it stopped working again. I have done a NVRAM reset nothing, I have done everything that I have seen but I need a fix for this! The mac is running OS X 10.9.3 and I am pretty sure that is the latest. Please help me guys I am really getting frustrated with this undying problem ;/

Trackpad and Keyboard intermittent Freezing

My trackpad and keyboard are freezing at random intervals for random spans of time (usually for a few seconds). I havent downloaded any recent software that has cause this to my knowledge. Any help would be wonderful because even typing this is frustrating.

I just took delivery of a new MacBook a couple of days ago. When I started it up I let it restore all of my user files, applications, and everything from a Time Machine backup. That worked fine, but now Time Machine wants to perform the initial, lengthy backup on a new machine. I find that when that is running, the trackpad and keyboard both freeze and I can't do anything. Strangely, if I plug a Logitech travel mouse into one of the USB ports, that is able to drive the mouse cursor. The keyboard is still frozen until I turn the backup off though.
I'm going to plug the MacBook directly into the Time Capsule to get the backup to go faster, but I still wonder: is there a way to reduce the priority of the Time Machine process so I can use the MacBook while the backup is running?

I bought this computer on April 2008. It has the latest OS X 10.5.6 and it did not accept the trackpad firmware. I tried to install and the software said "this computer does not need this update".
This has been happening a lot when I am using Skype while talking to someone with video and sound. The computer tries to go on sleep mode because I am not typing or touching it - it thinks I am away because I am just talking and watching the person on the other side.
I have to keep touching the computer to avoid getting on sleep mode. If it attempts to sleep, it freezes and stops the trackpad and keyboard. I continue to listen and see the other person on Skype with no problems, and they continue to see me and hear me, but I cannot move the "mouse"/trackpad cursor on the screen or type anything. Neither can I force to quit anything. The only thing that works is to close the computer and open again, that forces the computer to go into sleep mode then I can make it wake up again by opening it and touching any key on the keyboard. But that interrupts the Skype call and the video and the internet connection. It is a very frustrating interruption.
This have been interrupting Skype calls and my website usability study I am conducting. I have to keep touching the computer trackpad to not let it go on sleep mode ever, but I forget sometimes when I focused on the study.
I am concerned is something with the battery or maybe it needs some kind of firmware. I am also concerned that if I never let it sleep it will shorten the battery's life span.

1. The phone call will at the very least get you a case number and they can advise you if this is a current issue.
2. Making an appointment with the genius will at the very least cut down your wait time.

My iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) won't search for wireless networks. At all. It's irritating because I can't backup or sync without being on a wireless network.
If I go to Settings > Wi-Fi, I show that it's on but the wheel just spins and spins on "Choose a Network" but none show up, even though I know there are at least 5 in my immediate area.
I've tried turning off the Wi-Fi, then on again.
I've tried resetting the Network Settings.
I've tried turning the phone off then on again.
So far, nothing has worked.
Any suggestions?

OK, I see you indicated that you turned the phone off and back on again, but did you do a soft reset? Hold down the Home button and the Sleep button at the same time and hold them down until you see the silver Apple (ignore the red slider if it appears). This will restart your iPhone but you won't lose any settings or anything.

Frozen trackpad and keyboard

I have a MBP 2.0 10.5.3 which over the past couple of months has been intermittently freezing. This usually happens with internet use (wireless and on battery). The trackpad and keyboard completely freeze and don't wake up. It has to be restarted to work again. There is no rhyme or reason for the activity. Everything is up to date with the software updates.

Does rebooting always work? In my case it didn't. Same problem though, keyboard and trackpad "losing contact" with the OS, but externals working fine. The only solution I've found thus far that actually works 99% percent is to apply slight pressure to the area above the trackpad. This fixes my problem for a while. Sometimes just while it is pressed, and sometimes a while after. I'm getting it checked out, but I assume some cable is getting cut because of heat generation. In my case it never happens to a "cold" computer, not yet anyway.

I changed my Apple ID to my new email and now cannot find any way to access icloud. Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access. If Join was on then your home wi-fi must be set to Non-Broadcast. If you did not set this up (maybe your provider did) then you will need to find the Network Name they used, and any password they used. The SSID is Security Set ID and to see more try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSID . Basically it is the name used to identify your router/network. A lot of times the installer will leave it set as LinkSys, or Broadcom or whatever the manufacturer set it as for default. Your best bet is to get whoever installed it to walk you through how they set it up, giving you id's and passwords so you can get in. HOWEVER, if you are not comfortable with this (if you set security wrong, etc.) you would be well ahead of the game to hire a local computer tech (networking) to get this working for you. You can also contact the vendor of your router and get help (if it is still in warranty), or at least get copies of the manuals as pdf files. Sorry I can't give you more help, I hope this gives you an idea where to go from here to find more.

Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition 32 bits Service Pack 2 never finishes searching for updates and use 100% of CPU.

Hi everyone, I am having issues updating a clean Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition 32 bits Service Pack 2, so any help with be appreciated cause I've already tried all my cards for the past 5 days in this particular issue without success.
All I did so far is installing Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise with Service Pack 2, open IE to update, it keeps searching for updates and never stop, after 20mn to 30mn the process svchost.exe start using 100% of my CPU.
I already tried the following scenarios:
1- Install IE8, install the update KB927891 and the Windows Update Agent 3.0 (I already had this one installed). Reboot and run windows update trough IE8 and the problem did not solved.
2- Install those 2 software "MicrosoftFixit.wu.MATSKB.Run" and "MicrosoftFixit50777", open IE to update, it still hangs and continues eating my CPU. This is the output of "MicrosoftFixit".
Windows Update error 0x8007000D(2014-01-06-T-06_06_34A) --> Not Fixed
Cryptographic service components are not registered (This service is actually running successfully) --> Not Fixed
3- I found the following script that would register some DLL, deleting the "SoftwareDistribution" and forcing windows update to solve the problem and nothing happened either.

Herein is the root cause of your issue. A topic that's been discussed in several blogs, forums, and even in the media since September regards a known issue with attempting to patch IE6 RTM via Windows Update.
Aside from that particular issue... browsing the Internet with an unpatched instance of IE6, especially from a Windows Server system, is also asking for a world of hurt.
Might I suggest the following:
Download the IE8 for Windows Server 2003 installer to a thumb drive.
Download the latest Cumulative Security Update for IE8 for Windows Server 2003 to a thumb drive.
Reinstall Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2.
Upgrade to IE8 from the thumb drive installer and apply the
Cumulative Security Update.
Now your machine is capable of safely browsing to Windows Update to install the rest of the updates (well, maybe, there's also all those other Security Updates from the past seven years that your machine still has vulnerabilites for -- even those seven
years of updates are going to take a Very Long Time to scan for, download, and install).
Why don't you have a WSUS server? -- noting, wryly, that you've posted in the *WSUS* forum.
