IMac won't shut down or go to sleep - keeps rebooting or turning display back on. Is there any way to fix this?

A friend's iMac (2010 - Snow Lepord - 27" display) won't allow them to shut it down or put it into sleep mode. The system continually reboots itself when using the Apple > "Shut Down..." command. Similarly, it continually turns the display back on when using the Apple > "Sleep" command (even when no additional movement or action has taken place).
The only way to turn this monster off is to press and hold the power button behind the screen (lower-left). Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening and how to fix it?

Plugins usually are installed externally to Firefox. However, you can disable them in Firefox so that Firefox does not use them.
SearchReset is supposed to automate the task of resetting certain preferences, but you still can edit them manually if necessary.

Usually it works to choose your preferred search engine from the drop-down. To remove an unwanted search engine plugin, usually the Manage Search Engines... choice at the bottom of the drop-down takes care of it.

There might be another way to hijack that search box; I think some of the other frequent responders probably are more familiar with it than I am.

Make sure the headphones are plugged ALL the way in, meaning the white part of the headset is flush with the body of the Nano and no silver from the headphone's plug can still be seen.

I updated to Firefox 4 and ever since it won't open. It says the process is running but no matter how long I wait it won't open the browser and restarting or ending the process and trying again doesn't work either. Is there any way to fix this?

I thought it might be a compatibility issue with Windows Vista but the same problem happened on a computer with Windows 7. I'm not sure if the Windows 7 problem was resolved, though.

You probably have other problems but for a start right click on your task bar and click on Start Task Manager. In "Applications" if Firefox is shown, click on "End Task". In "Processes" if Firefox.exe is shown, click on "End Process" and ignore the warning and click"End Process" again. Wait for a few seconds then start Firefox in the usual way. There is a chance that this may solve your problems.
If not, you probably will need to do a complete uninstall and re-install. If you can't start Firefox you could try starting in Safe Mode - Hold down Shift key as you double click on the Firefox icon>ignore the page that opens>and Continue. If you've been able to open Firefox you could work through this Troubleshooting Procedure -

If at any stage you are not making progress, report back here for best advice on an Uninstall/Re-install which is quite likely to be necessary.

Hi, I've seen a few other forum discusions on this issue, and it seems to have been a recurring problem, I'm wondering if Apple have a software patch available for this issue. Its a vertical yellow line that runs from the top to the bottom of the monitor, other people have spoken about how multiple lines can start appearing once the problem has begun, so I'm concerned that this is going to degenerate. I recently upgraded the OS to Snow Leopard, so I'm wondering is it possible that this may have been one of the issues that people have come across when updating the OS.

How is it connected? Have you tried different port? How about logging in as a different user then trying to mount the drive.

I've been making my iTunes music purchases on my iPhone for over a year now. I bought a new one so I relied on iCloud to keep my purchases on record. When downloading my songs, I saw that some of them were missing. When I logged into the iTunes store, it said that the albums (yes entire albums are missing) have been "PURCHASED", therefore I can't buy them again. And they don't have that iCloud icon on them to download them (since I have already purchased them). I checked my iTunes account on both my PC and my iPhone and still nothing. I've tried deleting firefox and re-downloading and installing it but it's no help.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

II've tried putting in my number on the snapchat app however it says its invalid is this because I'm using an iPhone app on an ipad ? I've never had issues with this before and it says its compatible with ipad :/ . Is there any way of fixing this as without your number you are unable to use the app

Did you choose the right router to connect to in settings, wifi? Is there a password you need to enter (or did you already try)? Just because there's a signal doesn't mean it's connected to the router. I'm not sure what you mean by "service".

I recently switched to Verizon. In some areas it goes down to 3G, but then moving to an area I know has good 4G, it remains stuck in 3G until I turn airplane mode on then off again. Is there any way to fix this without having to cycle through airplane mod

Phone is LG G3. I find it odd that I have to cycle through airplane mode to fix this particular issue.

There has been no improvement thus far.
I recently switched from AT&T for a cheaper price, but so far my experience connection-wise across Chicago has been absolutely terrible. Where I used to get 4-5 bars 4GLTE in my apartment at 60640, I now get 3G if I'm lucky (have NEVER seen 1X before on AT&T even in the most remote of locations).
I also have poor connections near my work at 60611. Had (again) a bar of 1X and the person next to me had 3 bars 4G LTE with AT&T again.
So far plenty of regrets... and doing my research, I see many complaints in Chicago LTE services. Hoping there is a fix out there soon.

can not believe it but did a system restor on windows vister and got it all back you can chose the date you want to restore you computer too and it worked sooooooo happy love it.

When I try and change the camera to face front it acts like it's going to change then kind of freezes and won't let me change back to the back camera for several minutes.

Try:

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
