IMac wont run CD game ... just shows me the files
I had successfully installed the game Sims2 on my iMac quite some time ago but then I wanted a different game to play. So, instead of just installing the new game one my computer I deleted the old one so I would have more room on my computer and nothing would slow down or be frustrating. It worked just fine ... then I started to miss sims
SOOOO my dilemma now .... I tried to re-install my sims game but my computer won't run it. Nothing pops up. I double click the CD that shows up on my desktop but it just opens the file to the game... there is a bunch of autorun files but they just open up quicktime and wont play or they open up a text screen and show me a bunch of mumbo jumbo computer lingo .... it won't let me install my game ... help???
Yeha it's the mac version. I have played it on my computer before, too. Then I uninstalled it and tried to install it again... but it won't. When I put the CD into the superdrive the CD icon does pop up on my desktop. Then when I double click on it, it opens up completely.... meaning there are not just two files that I see ... I see ALL of the files... the autorun files, the setup files, the ... oh my gosh everything! Everything that makes up the Sims I can see right there. My computer just stopped letting me play it.
I'm wondering if I uninstalled it properly. If I didn't, could that be the problem? I didn't know how to uninstall it. There wasn't anything that said "uninstall" so I just dragged all the Sims stuff into the trash .... did I make a huge mistake???

Version 5.0 on a MAC will not let me switch between tabs. I can open a new tab, but when I try to go to a different tab, it just shows me the contents of the tab most recently opened. Help!
Also, pop up blocker works for some time and then just stops working. I have to close and restart Firefox to get it to work again. Help!I had the same problem, but with Firefox 4.0. My first thought was to update Firefox (after of course restarting FF), but that didn't help it and I had the same problem.
Among others, I had an extension installed and enabled called Tile Tabs 4.10 that I thought could feasibly creating this problem. So I went into my add-ons manager and disabled it, restarted Firefox and the tabs worked properly again. Unfortunately, the Tile Tabs extension is my favorite Firefox add-on and I use it almost every day for managing my web work tasks. I went to the add-on page for Tile Tabs and saw that there was a notice that version 4.10 didn't work properly on Mac OS, and to install version 4.9 of the extension. I saw they had a new, not-yet-reviewed version 4.11 that addressed the Mac OS problem, installed it, and everything seems to be working properly.
I have no idea why all of a sudden I had this problem, as I hadn't updated Firefox or the Tile Tabs extension recently. Also, obviously this might not address your problem, especially if you don't have that add-on installed and enabled. But our problem started at the same time for both of us it appears based on your post time, so its probably not coincidence.
But its worth a look, and you might want to check out other extensions if you don't have Tile Tabs that could be causing the problem. -

What is the extra slot at the top of the white phone? Is it the proximity sensor and just shows thru the white face?
Perhaps I used that screen name 18 months ago before the iPhone 4 came out and just forgot it. It does show my email address in the profile. I kind a like it so I'll keeping using it. What 18 months can do for your mind.

From your Apple menu at the left end of the menubar, select "About this Mac." You get a window similar to this:
1) The Mac OS version is just under the big "MAC OS X" line. Post what that says.
2) We can start to figure out what iMac you have if you post what that the "Processor" line says.
We need to find out because Apple's poor labling choices for this forum, intended for iMacs made before 2006, causes people with newer and much more capable Macs to post here by mistake.
Without some info from you, it's much like your calling an auto mechanic and asking if you can use a certain part without telling him the make, model, or year of your car. Quess what his first question will be? Works the same here. -
I have Windows XP operating system. I have never installed any version of mozilla firefox. When I try to install and run version 3.6.13, it says the file is corrupted. I have tried just running it. It said it was corrupted. Then I saved it to my computer and tried running it and it still said the file was corrupted.
It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading and installing work. -
Hi, 80 % of my itunes files are located on a 3tb external drives; the remainder on a 4TB drive as I ran pout of space. ALL my files are on copied on to the 4TB drive . How do I get iTunes just to use the files on the 4tb drive so I can use the 3tb for other purposes THX .

Hi, I downloaded the Keynote from the App store. I shoudl be able to save the presentation as a powerpoint, but the 'Save as" option is not showing in the file menu. Please help with a solution.

If you are using Lion, there is no Save As in iWork apps. It is no longer a menu item. -
I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional that I want to migrate to my newer laptop running Windows 7. I downloaded the file 22020134.exe to reinstall it on my new computer and I go through the hops and when I put in the Serial Number it tells me its invalid.
22020134.exe is the file Adobe say you must download and run to instal Acrobat 7.0 Pro. I went through the process, the one described in your link, I downloaded the file, ran it, it runs well, except it tells me my serial number is invalid. Now what? Does this mean I now have to discard my Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and start again with a $500 purchase? All I want to do is transfer what I have to another computer.

My iWeb Account wont update it says Can’t create the file “mwmac_white.png.” The disk may be damaged or full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges... This has never happend I deleted other sources on website and still wont work? Suggestions?

This is the image contained in the file causing the problem...
I certain the original is contained in the Combo updates and on the OS disks.
As a temporary fix, click on the image above to open it.
Use Screen capture (Shift+Command+4) and click on the opposite corners of the image.
It will be saved as a Screen shot 2011-mm-dd at hh:mm.png
Right click on the filename in Finder and rename it to mwmac_white.png
I'm not certain, but the file might need to be moved into the Documents directory in the Subdirectory named for the website name you are editing. That's where it is on my system, but I moved a bunch of files when I restored from Time Machine about 18 months ago.
I also have many copies of mwmac.png, a separate copy one for each web page where the image appears in my website. -
All My Files doesnt show all the files on the computer
All My Files didn's show all the files on the Computer. I downloaded Mountain Lion yesterday. After the download, it began to show all the files. Now again from this morning, it doesn't show all the files. It shows only a few word docs and nothing else. Please help.

iPad2 won't sync with iMac and only my iphone4 shows in the devices window on my iMac. For some reason it will not detect my iPad via my wireless network! The iPad will sync when plugged into the Mac however looses connection and disappears from the device window when unplugged.

You already have a wireless router or have just bought one, or do you have an ad hoc connection from iMac to AppleTV?
If things worked in the other location this all point to poor network performance/connectivity. It may be the connection is intermittently lost - small files transfer ok, but interruptions during longer transfers scupper the process.
Interference from cordless phone bases or microwaves (and neighbours devices) might also cause connectivity issues.
Signal strength bars are often not that useful, but will indicate connection to the main wireless device they connect to - so AppleTv may have a good connection to the router but a poor iMac connection to router is not displayed by AppleTV which only shows the connection to the first device in the chain.
You could consider some home mains newtorking plugs such as those made by Devolo but they usually have to be on the same mains ring.
