Image across 2 pages

I have a 2 page spread in InDesign. I want an image to go across both pages. For production purposes, must I break that image up into two pieces with half on one page and the other half on the second page? I have noticed that If I run a sigle graphic container across the two pages and then make a PDF, it will make the image into two that goes with the page. Is that something that it does just visually? Or would that work to have that file sent to production?

Thanks for your quick repy and help. I was concerned about preparing the pages that way when they are intended to end up in a signature in a publication. The pages of the spread may not end up on the same physical piece of paper.

  • How to print large image across several pages?

    After using Appleworks for years I finally got Pages 09. In AW I used to be able to use drawing app to print large (36 x 36) images over several pieces of paper, simply by adding pages to the document. I would then tape the pages together to form the large poster. I can't see anyway to do this in Pages. It won't let you print any larger than 11x17, nor let you add pages to a layout to print a large image. Anybody know how to do this, or did I just waste my money?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    Yvan Koenig discovered with iWork '08 that you can span images across pages in a Numbers document as a substitute. Select & delete any tables & then treat the Numbers document as a draw document. You shouldn't need to add pages like in AppleWorks as Numbers adds them as needed to display all of the content.

  • How do I spread one image across 2 pages?

    How do I spread one image across 2 pages?

    You can't with a single image, but you can "fake" it. Duplicate the image & then line up the two halves. It's easier if you are viewing facing pages two-up.

  • Need to select and move images across multiple pages...

    Hi,
    I am using Indesign CS2 on a Windows machine and have a 25 page document with 4-up photos (4"X6") on individual pages. I used the ImageCatalog javascript to load these images so I don't seem to have any control from the Master page. I would like to group and move these images to a different location on their own pages.
    Do you know how to select these images across multiple pages? Or can a simple script be written to process this task?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    -Greg

    Hi Greg,
    A script can certainly do what you want to do--but you have to be a bit more specific. Do you want to move them to different pages in some predefined way, or do you just want to adjust them a bit on the pages they're already on?
    Thanks,
    Ole

    I'm trying to create a large poster to be put on a bulletin board. I've mangaed to spread the image across multiple pages but I can't figure how to be able to print the pages have the edges line up successfully after cropping. I've been playing with the bleed settings but can't figure it out. Here a shot of what im working with:

  • Spread image across two pages and print the full pages

    Hi there,
    Im having a bit of trouble with InDesign CS3.
    I want to place an image across two facing pages but can't seem to make it go further than one page.
    Also I want to figure out how to print full pages, currently I am only able to print what is contained in the pruple bounding box on the page, any part of the image outwith this is cropped off leaving a white border on the page - this isn't an issue for all but my title page and this two page image I require.
    Any tips.
    Cheers

    I don't understand the inability to place an image that spans two pages (not that I necessarily think this is a good thing to do under most circumstances, but that's a different discussion). Can you see both pages in the same spread? How about providing some details about what you are doing, and maybe a screen shot showing what's happening. Perhaps you're using a frame on the master page?
    The second part sounds like a printer issue, but that's hard to know without knowing what your "purple" guides (presumably the page margins) are set to. Most printers are not able to print to the edge of the sheet of paper, regardless of what might be included on the page, so you get a white border that will vary in size depending on the printer model. Generally speaking, to print a bleed you must extend the items beyond the page edge (to insure there is no white edge left fom misaligment in the cutter) and print on a larger sheet, then trim to finished size.

  • Double spreads - can I place an image across two pages in facing page mode?

    Hi, I'm just getting into Pages to be able to create custom wedding album designs easily (I use Aperture). I'd really like to be able to place an image across two facing pages and I noticed that there is a 'facing page' mode, but this looks like it only applies to the view.
    I tried laying an image across two 10x13 inch pages, but of course this doesn't work. I also tried to insert a 10x26 inch page as an alternative so that I can treat it as a double page. However, when I try to do this, every page resets to that size.
    Is there a way of creating two page sizes (one normal, the other double width) in the same document so I can do this, or is there a way of spreading an image across two facing pages?
    Thanks

    brown,
    You've bumped into one of Pages' limitations -- it won't allow one image across a spread. I've heard rumors of people kludging it by cutting the image in half, and putting each half on the spread pages.

  • How can I place image across outside of booklet?

    I am currently engaged in my annual task of designing a 24 page A5 booklet using folded A4 paper. All the internal portrait mode A5 pages (pages 2 - 23) are monochrome and have been created in InDesign CS6, while the colour outer cover (pages 1 and 24) has been designed as a single landscape A4 page in Adobe Illustrator CS6. This allows graphic images to flow seamlessly between the front cover and the back cover.
    My normal practice has been to print this booklet myself, using an inkjet printer for the colour content and a mono laser printer for everything else. I print directly from Illustrator for the double-spread outer cover and use InDesign's 'Print Booklet' facility for all the internal pages.
    This year, I am seriously considering getting the booklet produced by a commercial printer, who would use a colour laser printer for the entire booklet. I therefore want to merge the Illustrator artwork into my Indesign file so that I can generate a single PDF for sending to the print shop.
    I'm guessing that there is a simple way to import the cover artwork into InDesign but, so far, I have been unable to find a way to place a file across pages 1 and 24. Any help would be much appreciated.
    David

    Yes, I confused my left with my right. I am indeed sticking with a conventional booklet reading direction!
    On reflection, our processes are slightly different but both may have advantages in different situations. Unless there is some clever trick for placing an image in a specific place, your process would always require careful repositioning of the cover artwork on Page 1 before copying and Pasting in Place on Page 24. My method used Paste in Place on both Page 1 and Page 24 and no position adjustment was necessary. The disadvantage of my process (which I forgot when I claimed it was more efficient) is the necessity of the prior step required to copy the cover artwork image into the Windows clipboard.
    I suspect you are now going to tell me an easy way to Place the image on Page 1 so that it preserves the same X/Y co-ordinates as it had in Illustrator ...

  • Is it possible to datamerge more than one image per page?

    I am building a product catalogue using datamerge.  Is it possible to data merge more than one image per page? (ie I have a logo, product image and dimensioned drawing to go with each product page)
    What would the coding be for the Data Field Name?
    Would it be
    @Logo
    @Product Image
    @Dimension Drawing
    Add image fields in the data source file
    By adding image fields to the data source file, you can allow a different image to appear on each merged record. For example, when you merge documents that include information from various companies, you may want to include an image of each company’s logo as part of the merge.
    Open the data source file.
    At the beginning of the data field name, type an “at” symbol (@) to insert text or paths that refer to image files.The @ symbol is required only in the first line; subsequent lines should include the image paths. Paths, which are case-sensitive, must follow the naming conventions of the operating system in which they’re stored.
    If you get an error message when you type the @ symbol at the beginning of the field, type an apostrophe (') before the @ symbol (such as '@Photos) to validate the function. Some applications, such as Microsoft Excel, reserve the @ symbol for functions.
    (Windows) Example of image references in data source file
    Bill Tucker

    C:\Photos\BillTucker.jpg
    Dat Nguyen

    C:\MyDocuments\dat.gif

    You can use InDesign to view the path of an image on your operating system. Insert an image in an InDesign document, and then use the Links panel to view the image’s location. With the image selected, choose Copy Info > Copy Full Path from the Links panel menu. You may need to edit the path after you paste it in your data source. This technique is especially useful for images on a server.

    Yes, pretty much exactly as you describe. You would then just add those fields to the boxes in your page. I tend to add an apostrophe before the @ symbol in Excel so it doesn't think it's a function - as per text you quoted above.

  • Auto-update of figure/images in Pages

    Dear all,
    I'm just wondering whether Pages has a feature allowing it to auto-update images you import into it, i.e., if I insert an image in pages and then decide I need to edit it some-more in Photoshop, can you make it update by itself in Pages? I know this feature is available in Microsoft Word for mac.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Neil

    Neil,
    Yet again, Pages is no clone of Word. Pages' graphics are embedded, not linked, and that might be why there's no auto-update. I can see where auto update would be nice if many documents use the same graphic and you want it updated in all of them.
    Whatever your reasons, it wouldn't hurt to Provide Feedback to Apple from the Pages menu.

  • Help needed in row selection in Tabular form across pages

    Hi,
    I have a tabular form report similar to http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:95. I want to select some rows from first page and then use the pagination to get to the next page, select some more rows and hit the submit button for processing. The rows selected in the last page alone are picked up for processing, and the ones selected in the earlier pages are lost. I see the same behaviour in Denes' example as well. I picked a row in the first page and a row in the next page, and then click "Pick Records", i see only the record i picked on the second page.
    I did play around with "partial page refresh" setting for the tabular form region, but that does not help.
    Is there a way to select across pages in a tabular form?
    thanks,
    Rams

    Okay. I could make this work, but this seems to be a roundabout way for me. In my case I dont have any database related query to get the values, hence the Application level process may not be needed.
    When I select the checkbox, i get the value. I am hoping that I should be able to send the value to a javascript function and update the filed value in the function itself. Please see the function below..
    function setFileID(pThis) {
    var chkvals=pThis.value;
    var fldValue = new $x('f_FILELIST').value ;
    if (fldValue != 0)
    { $x('f_FILELIST').value= fldValue+'-'+chkvals;}
    else
    { $x('f_FILELIST').value = chkvals ;}
    This function works fine in making up the list. The issue is, when an already selected row is unselected, the value of the checkbox gets added one more time :) If I detect the checkbox status and subtract the corresponding value, this will be perfect..
    Thanks for the link anyway. I am marking this question answered.
    regards,
    Rams.

  • How to keep together Title + table's line across pages

    Hi all, I have a question.
    I'm trying to create a .rtf template where I have a table with 4 lines and a title <PROJ_NAME>
    I need to repeat this table (with all the necessary information - 4 lines) as many times as the projects' names are stored on the DB.
    For example: if the employee has 4 projects, on the report I will see 4 times these table and the relative project name as title.
    So, the repeating group mechanism works perfectly, but I am not able to control how the table's lines are splitted across pages....
    In other words if I have two pages in my .rtf template and I am at the end of the first page:
    1) I don't want to see the title on the bottom of the first page and the relative table above on the second page (title and table splitted on two differents pages)
    2) I don't want to see the title and a portion of the table on the bottom of the first page and the rest of the table (1,2 or 3 lines) above on the second page (table splitted on two differents pages)
    At the end I'd like to see always title and table together even if the page finishes. If the title + table exced the table's vertical border, it has not be splitted, but rewrite entirely (title + table) on the next page.
    The syntax is this:
    <?for-each-group:G_PROJ;./PROJ_NAME?><?PROJ_NAME?>
    TABLE WITH 4 LINES
    <?end for-each-group?>Page break
    I tried also, reading the forum, to use the paragraph properties (Keep lines together), but nothing.....
    Anyone can suggest me something ?
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

    After the for loop,
    take a table (suppose A) with one row and one column. In that table insert the Project name tag. Below that tag, insert an inner table(suppose B) in table A with 4 rows and columns you wish. Now select the outer table A(select the whole table), and in the table properties/Row , in the options , uncheck the 'Allow row to break across pages' property.
    end the for loop.

  • How can I create a one image per page caption sheet that includes the description in Bridge?

    I am trying to find a way to create a one-image-per-page caption sheet for my workflow. I currently place each image into Word and copy the description onto the document, then repeat for each image. I am hoping that there is a way to automate this process using Bridge. I know that it can be done using Lightroom, however, that is not currently an option for me. Is this something that can be done or am I bound, like Sisyphus to Microsoft Word? I have a very limited grasp of scripting, but I feel like this is possible.
    Thanks for any help.

    To create a NetBoot image, you could just put the cluster node in target mode and attach it to your PowerBook. Then use SIU to create the NetBoot image.
    If you're trying to create a backup image of the disk, use hdiutil, or put in in target mode and create the image with Disk Utility.

    You need to do the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide, Appendix B.
    Restart phone
    Reset phone
    Restore in iTunes using a backup
    Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup
    If restoring as new doesn't help, there is a hardware failure in the phone that needs evaluation by Apple.
