Image autoflow -contact sheet

Hi all hope you can help I am looking for something like the contact sheet on indesign. I need something that lays out my images on a sized set page that keeps the proportions of the images.
Contact sheet from bridge is good only it resizes my pics to fill the page. Is there some sort of plugin or addon that I can get for indesign that will layout the images automatically filling your page for best fit?
Ages ago at an old workplace they had the exact thing that I am after. I think it was called Auto flow or something like that.
Please let me know if you can.
Thanks

There are numerous scripts that can do this, I believe some are installed with ID itself, though you may have to look on your drive or install disks for them. I also sell "ID Image Catalog" which will do the same and has a UI for all your options.

Just to expand JimHess reply. This are all the EXIF data you can include on a print. As far as I know, WB is not written to any standard EXIF fields.

  • CS4 Bridge - Image and Contact Sheet Problems (Windoze)

Problem #1: Out of shear chance, the first directory that I picked on that contains press images, resulted in Bridge not displaying thumbnails, or even being able to work with the image, because Bridge declares that the JPEG file is not a JPEG image. But, here is the kicker, when creating the thumbnails, it does briefly display a thumbnail before replacing it with the JPEG icon. There is nothing wrong with the images as Photoshop CS4 has no problem working with the same images. Double-clicking on the JPEG icon in Bridge results is it calling Photoshop to display the image. Lastly the images were created with Photoshop CS3 on a MAC, as indicated in the EXIF data. I haven't tracked down a pattern yet, as I just installed the software last night. Even so, there is no way that Bridge should have trouble reading CS3 produced JPEG images, but it does.
Problem #2: With the old contact sheet method, one could tell the plugin to include all sub-directories. I can't find a way to get Bridge to do the same thing. If it is there, it certainly is not user friendly. There was nothing online, or in the manual, about how to do that. While I like the idea of producing a PDF of the contact sheets, getting there is not so simple. I'm new to Bridge, having never having the need to use it prior to this release.
Any help with these two problems will be appreciated.

If Bridge can not show the thumbnail, Output workspace can not generate the PDF or web gallery for this image. Because it use the Bridge's DOM to process those images.
For the subfolder issue, you could use the Bridge's 'Show Items from sub-folder'. You could find this option from the directly path list at the tool bar, or from Menu View->Show Items from submenu.

  • I cannot find images for contact sheet printing.

I have been printing hundreds of contact sheets and from time to time when I add pictures for contact sheet, I am unable to find the images I want even though they are open and in the project bin and in the same folder.  I may find two but not the other two and so on.  They all are the same size.  Thanks.

You need to go into more detail about your problem. Perhaps you can provide screenshots of your dilemma with the software and provide more information that may help people answer your question. If not, you can always try reading the manual.

  • Creating Contact Sheets by selecting images in sub-folders

I'm new to scripting, so not sure whether this is within the realms of possiblity, but hope that there's an expert out there up to the challenge!
My goal is to develop a script to automate the process of creating contact sheets for each pupil of a school photoshoot.  The folder structure being used presently is:
1st level folder:     School name (e.g. "Southbridge School")
2nd level folders:     Class teachers name (e.g. "Smith")
In each 2nd level folder (i.e. representing each class) there are always 3 images per child (post processed, so ready to convert to contact sheets).  The image numbers run sequentially, so the first 3 image numbers in the folder are of the 1st child, the next 3 are of the 2nd child, and so on....
The script I'm looking for would allow me to point Photoshop to the 1st level folder and then automatically create a contact sheet for all children 'found' in the sub-folders.  To do this the script would need to do the following:
Taking each 2nd level folder in turn, recognise each 'child' is represented by 3 consecutive images - and starting with the 1st 3 images in the folder create a contact sheet.  Then, move on to the next 3 images in sequence and create the next contact sheet, and finish after it completes the final 3 images in the folder.  Then, move on to the next 2nd level folder...
Create each contact sheet with the 3 images in colour and then the same 3 images in black and white (so 6 images per contact sheet), including the image number under each and a copyright watermark
Save all contact sheets generated from all of the classes all together in 1 new folder at the 2nd level called "Contact Sheets"
Give each contact sheet a unique name in the format "<Class teachers name> - xxx"   (e.g. "Smith-1", "Smith-2" etc...)
So, are there any Photoshop masters out there up to this challenge?!  Your help would be greatly appreciated because the learning curve on this one looks v. steep!
Alternatively, if you can think of a better way of doing this I would also be keen to hear!
    Thanks

Awesome! I didnt even know aperture could do that
Now another quick question on this topic, if im using RAW files, does aperture need to convert the file to jpeg or tiff (like it does if you export version as jpeg)?
If it does, that may be a problem as it takes forever for aperture on my macbook to convert raws and save as jpegs, like a good minute or two per photo, and if i have 200odd photos....not good, people will crack it waiting and leave.
Or does it print as raw? Cause im pretty sure my printer (or any printer) can not print raw files. Will try it tonight on my printer but a heads up will be useful.
I could just shoot in hi-res jpeg, but id rather shoot raw incase they want a large poster size print etc.
    Thanks.

  • How can I print multiple images on one sheet:  PSE 10/Mac?

When printing, I can have all of my images in the dialoug box - but cannot figure out how to get more than one image on a sheet!  For example, I am printing several photos a 2x2, and want to put as many as possilble on 1 sheet instead of using a seperate sheet for each image.  I am on a Mac.
Any ideas??  I can't seem to find the answer.  Thanks!

    Barbara B.
Thanks for the reply to wdwpartners question.
I am new to PSE 10 (on Windows 7) and having the same problem with printing multiple photos on one sheet.  With 14-20  images both contact sheet and picture package force you into 2x2 prints, not the image's original HxW ratio thus loosing some of the image on paper.  Am I missing something?
My old version of PSE gave me an option to "print multiple photos" and custom select the image dimentions which was very useful to me.  Please let the powers that be know this user asked for that option back!!
    Thanks for a reply.

  • HELP! Different colors in Single print vs Contact Sheet print

Aperture 1.5.1, G5, 10.4.8, Apple 30" display, Kodak 1400 Dye Sub printer, Canon 350D, shooting RAW.
I have a few pictures and I want to print them. They are baby pictures so picture a little baby in standard issue baby yellow tee shirt and wrapped in baby yellow blanket.
I select four pix and go to print images. In Single Images I set it up as Kodak 1400, Color sync profile Kodak 1400 Glossy, no color correction and changes in printer settings. I then do a preview and the images are prepared and displayed in Preview and they look fine.
With the same four images, in Contact Sheet I set it up as Kodak 1400, Color sync profile Kodak 1400 Glossy, no color correction and changes in printer settings. I then do a preview and the images are prepared and displayed in Preview and they look like ****. Baby's yellow cloths are blown out to almost white. The off white wall behind mother and baby is blue.
I've tried several setups and tweaks and I always get the same result. One print on a page looks great, contact sheets look like ****. It's like the contact sheet setup is using completely different color settings than the single sheet setup.
Unfortunately you can't morph a working single sheet into a contact sheet. They have to start from different places (create new single vs create new contact)

  • Add exposure info to ea shot in contact sheet

Is there a way in Bridge to add exposure info., I would like to add focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and lens used,  below the image in a contact sheet, in addition to the image name, into a Bridge contact sheet? I see no way to do it now in Bridge. (Using Bridge CS5 and Photoshop CS5; presently using PhotoMechanic 4.6.5 for my contact sheets which does allow custom listing of exif info below images in contact sheets).
    Thanks for any help,
    Debra Gillilan

    What's odd is that
    File > Automation Tools...
    is GRAYED OUT,
    even though the folder
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 4.0\Plug-Ins\Automate
has several items in it (not just the one I just added).
    Any ideas?

  • Image sequence for contact sheets in Bridge CS4

I have been used to Contact Sheet in Photoshop but am now trying the Output option in Bridge. How can I change the order the photos appear on the sheet? Most are landscape format but a few are portrait and I would like to have the portrait format images all together and I don't see a way to effect what photos go where on the sheet. Is there a way? I also could only see the first of the two contact sheets. I'm sure there is an obvious way to review all but I haven't discovered how.
    Thanks.

The preview in Bridge is limited to conserve resources. To see the whole thing, save the file and look at it.
You can always quickly redo it if you want to make changes.
Drag the thumbnails in the content pane to change the order.

  • How to create a Contact Sheet with Adobe Photoshop CS5 from a disc with images in different folders

I got a disc with images files (mainly ai and psd files) in different folders and subfolders, how can I create a contact sheet including all the image files in different folders. (It seems that Adobe Bridge can only create a contact sheet by clicking the image files directly but not a folder including the images files)
    thx!

Use the optional Contact Sheet II plugin which is found in Adobe's Downloads:
    1) search for contact sheet in PS CS5 help
    2) choose the first result and read carefully about the Photoshop Optional Plug-In Picture Packager
    3) follow the instructions to download the zip file and note the location that you download it to.
    4) follow the instructions to install the files.
I'm not sure how PS CS5 will handle ai vector image files or if you have to batch convert them to raster images first before using Contact Sheet II.  Contact Sheet II allows you to choose a folder and Include All SubFolders as an option so you could create a Contact Sheet folder and copy all of your desired folders into that folder which will become subfolders of the main folder you choose for your contact sheet.

  • Image rotation in contact sheet

    Hi
I've just come accross a problem when creating a contact sheet with images that were organised and rotated using Bridge.
When creating contact sheets I like to have the thumbnails rotated the correct way up. So I deselect 'rotate for best fit' but after the process is finished I realise that the sheet has been created with the thumbnails in landscape view regardless of the images that are portrait.
I've also tried selecting the 'rotate for best fit' but the same thing happens.
    Can anyone help me?

Based on your post, you're using the InDesign contact sheet.
Bridge does not rotate the image. It sets a metadata flag. Photoshop recognizes this flag, InDesign CS3 does not (I haven't tried it in CS4 yet).
I will be writing a new version of the contact sheet script over the next few weeks.
The features I will be adding:
Ability to save multiple dialog settings
    Improved dialogs
    Heed rotation metadata
Bring back the ability to include subfolders
    Regards
    Bob

  • Optimum number of images per sheet for contact sheet?

what is the optimum number of images per sheet (like 5x5, 10x10 etc) for a contact sheet on the latest photoshop. optimum meaning the largest number of images per page so that you can still see what the image is of and the image number.
    thanks

How are you going to use the Contact Sheet?  If you are not printing, but using your screen or website, you can use your file browser to simulate the Contact Sheet.  In Windows > File Explorer, choose large icons, and zoom in or out with Ctrl Mouse Wheel.

  • How can I print a contact sheet with a repeated row of images?

    Hi there,
I am hoping that it is possible with my version of iPhoto to print a contact sheet on which I need to have a row of 8 pictures that then repeat down the entire page.
I understand how to set the slider for the number of "rows" across the page. But, how do I then get these 8 pictures to repeat on the same piece of paper?
I am an art teacher...need to do this for a project for my class!
thanks for any help that may lead me to success...
    peace,
    Robin

A contact sheet can only put each photo once on the page. I can't think of a way to do it in iPhoto.
I was able to do what you describe in Photoshop Elements. If you have access to that program you can give it a try.
In Photoshop Elements, open all 8 photos.
    Choose File->Contact Sheet II
Source Images Use: Current Open Documents
Thumbnails: Place across first, Columns: 8, Rows 1 (Use Auto Spacing)
Uncheck "Use Filename as Caption" unless you want the names.
    Click OK.
You then need to move the row of photos to the top of the page with the move tool. Then while holding down the option and shift keys, use the move tool to drag copies repeatedly until you've filled the page.

  • Bridge to InDesign contact sheets (CS3) creating frames around the images

Forgive me if this topic should not be here.
We use the contact sheets to ID from Bridge script quite a lot at work (when it works -> CS2). Since upgrading to CS3 it works (hooray) however, it creates two boxes with a black stroke around each image. Removing them manually is a schlep (I was reading this forum in the hopes of finding a script to run that will remove them faster).
Is there a way I could edit the script to stop it creating the boxes in the first place?
Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hi Bob,
we found your script (I think it was yours) but it only removes one of the boxes I think.
    Hi Robert,
We are mostly working on Macs, but scripting directly in ID would be great.
    Thanks!

  • Printing one image on a contact sheet with different gamma settings

    Hi,
I am currently using Aperture 1.1, and I would like to print out a contact sheet of one image (each with a different gamma setting) to my Epson R800 printer. Any idea on how to do this? Also, I seem to be somewhat limited in my printing options, is it possible to print out say two or three images on one sheet?

Not without actually duplicating the intended images for the print.
