Image Black

After printing a file with grayscale images using Abode PDF and properties "black" I then verify the pdf compliance with pdfX-1A:2001 for the printer.
The images are shown as black and not CMYK. Is this regular black or enriched black?

What is the Color Mode of the Image, into which you are Placing the other Image?
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Turning images black (not black & white nor greyscale)

    I want to make a lion's fur black. I've searched tutorials on changing colors, played around with hue/saturation and nothing seems to be working. Does anyone know how to make an image black without making the whole image black and white?

    Since there were no responses to your inquiry I thought I would take a shot at it. I began by putting the unaltered image on its own layer. Used image > Apply image of the Blue channel set to multiply to build density and  contrast. Followed with a Quick Selection of the Lion (and Refine Edge). As the layers panel shows, three adjustment layers were added to modify curves, convert the masked image to B&W and work with Hue/Saturation since the black lion is not a neutral black. Finally I made a composite image for some local dodge, burn to add the shadow under the lion's paw. I did not spend the time the image deserved but primarily to confirm the approach. It's crude in a few places; highlight tone separation needs work, as does the Hue/Saturation adjustment and the eye area of the mask,. Sorry about that.

  • After turning an image black and white, how can I color in a certain area?

    After turning an image black and white, how can I color in a certain area?

    How did you change it? Did you make your B&W on a separate layer? If so, just erase the part of the layer you don't want, or add a layer mask and paint with black over the parts you want to hide.
    If not, then you can copy/paste the original photo (you will need to press ctrl+A/cmd+A to select all before you can copy) into the new image. From there it depends on the relative proportions of B&W. Arrange the two layers so the one with the most area that you want to keep is on top, and either mask out the rest or just erase it away.
    For future reference, an easier way to do this when starting from scratch is to use the smart brush. Choose a black and white conversion style, turn on the inverse checkbox and paint over the part you want in color. The rest of the photo turns black and white, leaving what you paint over in the original colors.

  • How can I turn an image black and white?

    I want to edit an image I have inserted into a pages document. I can't see a way to easily change the colouring of the photo to black and white. Using the bars seems to make the colouring look a little odd. Any suggestions?

    In Pages v5.2.2, the quickest way to transform a photo to b/w is to select the photo, and on the right panel's Image tab — completely desaturate the image. Tweak the Exposure for tonality adjustments.

  • Photoshop cs4 opens images black and only in camera raw

    I'm running Photoshop cs4 on a pc. Recently, it began having 2 issues. First, it started opening everything into Bridge Camera Raw instead of just opening the image itself. Next issue is that when I attempt to open an image from Camera Raw, it opens black. I can see the image is there in a layer, but the working screen is black. Every once in a while it will open normally. This is with all images, no matter what size the are.

    On a Mac I don't know which directory it should be in.
    Camera Raw preferences: Bridge: menu Adobe Bridge/ Camera Raw preferences.
    Inhere you can set the wished behavior for tiff. By default it shows tiffs
    only in ACR when you choose to do so with right mouse click menu (open in
    Camera Raw) or if the Tiff had earlier been altered in ACR, then it opens
    automatically in ACR unless you choose not to do so.

  • How do you make a color image black and white

    I looked at the Adjust Image tool, but I could not see an easy way to make the color picture turn into black and white.
    Yes I realize I could go back into iPhoto and do that. I don't want to do that.
    In Word there is an image control that allows you to do various things with the image, including going to grayscale.

    Thanks Walt. That indeed was easy. I had tride saturation before, but didn't get all the way left, so it just looked washed out. I decided, wrongly it appears, that it would not do as I needed. Thank you. I just wish something like that could have been in the help file or PDF.
    I think once I get the hang of the nuances, this program will really rock. Its just taking longer than I anticipated. I mean, it is an Apple program---so I was counting on a lot more intuitive steps.

  • Why are backgrounds to created images black?

    Dear all,
    In creating a bufferred image (or a volatile image - perhaps this problem exists with all image classes), the background is completely black. Only the painted components (typically small coloured rectangles) appear as they should do, colour wise. I am creating the graphics using a Graphics2D object in the standard way. However, a call to
    g2.setBackground(Color.white) etc still results in a background color black, as does
    g2.setColor(Color.white), before the call that adds the rectangles
    So I thought, I'd first draa one huge white rectangle using something like
    g2.setColor(new Color(255,255,255)), then
    g2.fill3DRect(0,0,600,900,false) // whatever
    and then draw over the rectangles that I need to add. However the resultant background colour is gray rather than white. Whats going on?
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers
    Ben

    Here's a demo of using setColor.Works for me.

            BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(W, H, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
            Graphics2D g = bi.createGraphics();
            g.setColor(Color.WHITE); //!
            g.fillRect(0,0,W,H);    //!
            g.setColor(Color.BLUE);
            g.setFont(new Font("Lucida Bright", Font.PLAIN, 16));
            g.drawString("Hello, World!", 10, 50);
            g.dispose();
            JLabel label = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(bi));
            final JFrame f = new JFrame("ImageBackground");
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            f.getContentPane().add(label);
            f.pack();

  • My image blacks out when usi

    I am unable o use the healing brush, patch tool, etc.  The image keeps blacking out.  This repeats.  It's as if it is "unstable."  The image does not stay on  screen.  I experienced the same problem while using the crop tool, but was able to crop in Raw.  I am an experienced user with PS 5; this is my first week with CC.  Is anyone able to help me?  Thanks.

    Hello Mr. Cox,
    Thanks for your suggestion.  I wopuld like to follow it, and give it a
    try.  But, I am not very computer skilled to do what you recommend
    without further help.  Would you be willing to tell me how I set the
    Photoshop GPU mode to "basic" since I do not know how.  FYI: my computer
    is brand new laptop from Lenovo.
    Many thanks,

  • Problem rotate Image black borders appear??!!

    Hi I'm using a method to rotate an image file (exactly a buffered image inside the rotate method).
    That works fine, i get a new image which has been rotated but black borders appear!!!
    Is there a way with the renderinghints or something else to remove these borders (or put them in white)??
    here is what I use for the moment :
    g.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_INTERPOLATION,
    RenderingHints.VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BICUBIC );
    Any idea would be appreciated...

    I haven't seen that happen. Perhaps your math is off by one? Could you post a minimal program
    that demonstrates this, using a generated image, or an image from an accessible URL?
    To change the color of the "border", you could fillRect() your target image with white first...

  • Save Image - Black Picture

    Previous versions of Acrobat Reader would
    allow you to right click on an image within a PDF and select "Save Image" or "Copy Image" and
    then create a bmp or paste the image into another application.  However version 9 .x multiple sub versions, you get a black square for the image.  Any suggestions how to restore the image in the copy?

  • Can't print image - black rectangle is printed

    Hello to all the java experts
    I try to print an icon (gif file), therefore I draw the image into Graphics2D object. Sometimes when I changes the borders of the image a black rectangle is printed.
    For example:
    Image iisLogo=getToolkit().getImage("\\\\hostname\\TapiTkina\\logoMTI2.gif");
    pg2.drawImage(iisLogo,0,0,400,70,null);
    prints ok, but:
    pg2.drawImage(iisLogo,0,0,400,60,null);
    prints a black rectangle.
    Why is it happen? What can I do to solve it?

    Thanks for your reply - the path is correct but you gave me another idea. The second command drawImage() was performed before the first command (which loaded the image) had finished. Therefore I have loaded the image at the begining of my program (in order to be sure that its loading was finished) and it fixed the problem.
    Thanks a lot again

  • Encore / Images Blacked out with RED line on top

    New at this. I have 1.67gb left in my project. (I have a lot of photos) Any way when I add more (Shift / Ctrl / g ) When I look at the bottom Left where the slides show up I just loaded 2 of the 60 photos I can see but the other 58 are black. All 60 have this red line above them.
    Can anyone teach me what's going on here:)
    THANKS

    Joseph,
    You are possibly (note: "possibly") on the right track with the elimination of each slide show, until you find the one that is "possibly" causing the problem.
    Get a spool of DVD-RWs (rewritables), and do a Project with one of your slide shows, then burn to DVD-RW and test that. Does all work as it should? In that Project, add another slide show, repeat the DVD-RW burn again. Still OK? Add another, and another. If the process hangs, errors out, on one, check it completely to see if you can spot a problem with it. Sometimes, it's some tiny glitch that ruins the whole Project, and you have to spend some time searching through tons of good assets, just to find the offending one, or ones.
    As for the size concern, take a look at the Disc Tab in your Project Panel. There will be a diagram of the DVD with the used portion colored in. Does it show that you still have room? If not, check the CD-ROM area, just below, to see if you accidently added some content there. If you have exceeded the capacity of a 4.7GB DVD, Encore should give you an error message, suggesting that you go with a DVD-9 (Dual Layer), instead of a DVD-5.
    Question: where did you get the info, that you still have 1.38GB of space on this Project, the Disc Tab in the Project Panel? If so, that should tell you that you DO have room, i.e. the Project is not too large. It would then follow, that you likely have some problem and my first statements might help you track these down.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    [EDIT] PS, Harm is only trying to help you explain your problem in enough detail, so that the folk who hang out here, can, in turn, help you solve your problem. As you can see from my response, I'm doing a lot of guessing, and much/all of it might be wrong. With more detail (per Harm's link), others will see what you started with, what you have done so far, and maybe even some hardware issues. The first couple of folk, who responded to you, are some of the best on this board.

  • Merge to HDR pro turns image black

    Hi. When I try to merge to HDR pro, the entire photo becomes black. It is still the same photo because when I increase the exposition I can almost make out the original photo. I tried to work on the exposition of the three photos, but that didn't work. I tried everything that I read on the Adobe Forum, but nothing is working. Up until about a month ago, it was working perfectly. I have photoshop cs6 with the latest upgrades and a Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 with 3.4 GHz and 32 GB ram. Thank you, Leonardo

    Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
    Have you tried both reducing and increasing the Memory Usage in the Performance Prefences?
    I tried to work on the exposition of the three photos, but that didn't work.
    What does this mean?
    Are you using actual bracketed shots?

  • Black and white images appearing sepia online

    While editing i've made images black and white in lightroom. In my catalog they show black and white, in folders on my computer they show black and white.
    However for some reason when I load them online, some of them will show with a sepia/brown tone.
    It's only happening with a select few of the images and I can't figure out why.
    At first I thought it was maybe a problem with blogger, but the images in question are loading sepia toned on Facebook as well.
    I'm not applying any special features during export, adding tints, or changing color tone. And as I said, it's not happening to all of them.
    You can see an example at this link :Rachel Mariesa Photography: Brett & Emma
    The first black and white worked fine, and the rest are sepia looking.
    Any suggestions would be welcomed, as this is very frustrating!

    The problem isn;t that the images are black and white, but more likely that they have a greyscale color profile. iPhoto only supports RGB, so attach an RGB profile to the images and they will display correctly.

  • Aperture 3 - Exporting Photos Results in Black Images

    Hi --
    I'm currently having issues exporting images from my Aperture library (whether thru the Export menu command, or thru the auto-uploading feature [like Flickr]).  Whenever I export images -- they result in totally black photos.  I've tried exporting in other formats (JPEG, TIFF, etc.) with the same results.  Only if I export the Original can I get the photos out of Aperture.
    I switched to another library to see if it was having the same issue -- it was not.  I've repaired permissions and repaired the database -- still having the same issue.  Does this indicate a corrupted Library?  Should I try the (ominous sounding, according to the documentation) "Rebuild Database" option -- or should I try to create a new libary with the same images to see if that fixes things?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I've yet to find any other users with a similar problem.  Been using Aperture for years without issues -- this is the first major problem I've encountered.
    Thanks.

    I switched to another library to see if it was having the same issue -- it was not.  I've repaired permissions and repaired the database -- still having the same issue.  Does this indicate a corrupted Library?
    That does indeed look like something may be wrong with your library.
    Should I try the (ominous sounding, according to the documentation) "Rebuild Database" option -- or should I try to create a new libary with the same images to see if that fixes things?
    If you create a new library with the existing images, you will have to start over and redo all your edits.
    Try first to rebuil the library. That will create new database files inside. But make sure that you have a backup of your library, before you try a rebuild, just in case.
    Have you checked the "Export preset" that you are using, if anything can turn the images black: set the preset to "edit" and look at the options, i.e. color profile or watermark.
