Image Borders

When my page loads in IE, I get small dark blue lines between
the images(I'm talking about the top banner). In FF, it looks
seamless, but for some reason in IE, there are small gaps, almost
like a border. I went though and set the border equal to 0for the
images, yet it didn't help at all. The top of the image on the
right(Donations, Contact Us, Newsletter) lines up fine, but the
bottom and the image on the left(Spokane County United Way), has
the gaps.
I tried validating my page, since last time I had a problem
with gaps and tables, that was it. It is fully validated.
Any help would be wonderful.

Looks like the different way IE handles the box model - with
padding,
margin width etc.
Looking at it with Firefox / web developer toobar - with
Outline block
elements on - I can see the margin

Occasionally,  some of the image borders turn dark grey (medium grey is the default) and then random other  images cannot be opened with a double click.  They only open when selected using the arrows on the keyboard.  They also cannot be moved to collections.  Anyone have a solution for this?

When you say  "could not be opened"- what are you referring to?  A double click of the mouse should view the clicked image in Loupe view- the same as pressing [E] on the keyboard for an enlarged view. (And a second double-click will take you back to library grid view.)
To "open" an image in the Development module requires you to select the image then press [D] or click on the [Develop] button.
When you say "could not be ...moved" -what are you referring to?  Are you trying to move an image file from its place in a folder to another folder? Are you just wanting it in a collection? When you drag an image to a collection you are only placing a link to the image in the collection- not actually moving any file. The image will stay exactly where it is in its original folder and will remain as a thumbnail preview in the Library Grid view.
Are you having any "mouse" problems that may be changing its actions in LR ?
Do you see an exclamation mark on any image borders ?
Let's keep working on this. I am curious to see you find an answer.

  • Creating jagged image borders

Hello, I am creating an image border using the rectangle marquee, and making it jagged by applying a Stylize > Wind filter to it.
Using Wind there is no way to adjust the jagged edges, is there any kind of third party plugin that gives me more editing features?

I have used auto-fx edges to do what you want. there are literally hundreds of edge effects, but it is not the fastest software i have ever used. large files take a while to render the effect, but they may have gotten better. here is a link.

  • Why are image borders inconsistent

Borders of images display okay in Word 10; however, after converting to PDF using Acrobat 8, the borders display inconsistently and partially disappear. What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks!

  • Scanned images, borders, cropping and "auto enhance"

    Afternoon.
I'm converting old slides / negatives to digital, and am aiming to store the results in aperture.
I'm still fighting through the manuals etc. and trying to work out a workflow that works for me between Silverfast and Aperture. One of the decisions to make is where / how to do the first pass "auto improve" steps. I'm keeping the "raw" scan (HDRi, 64bTIFF etc.) to reprocess the ones I'm really interested in later, but I'd like as automatic / quick a process as possible to actually get the images into Aperture, and looking OK, first.
Many of the images have some black or white borders from the edge of the slide holder / curved corner of the slide being included in the original scan (the "autocropping" in Silverfast is kind of rubbish).
How does "auto enhance" work with regard to this non-photo information? Do I need to crop before hitting "auto enhance" (so it's not factoring in the edges?)? Can it be automatically "refreshed" after cropping? Any other advice?
I know some of the manuals on silverfast mention needing to crop this stuff out before using their "auto enhance" like features, but it's another time consuming process, and something I'd rather be able to undo (i.e. uncrop if I decide later I want the original curved corners / edge detail back).
    Hope that made some sense.
    Thanks.

I'll correct my answer.  It's simpler than I thought and works well.
In Acrobat X I can use Tools/Recognize Text/ Aa In This File which will deskew and process page(s) for OCR, i.e. make it a searchable document.  When I do this on a multiple manually scanned document which has pages upside down,
the deskew rotates them 180 degrees, that is corrects the manual scan orientation.
This worked with pages of both landscape and portrait, but haven't tried with 'sideways' manual scan.
All the incorrect pages were upside down.  There's also a selection to do this with Aa Multiple files, which I haven't tried.
The deskewing in the others I've tried with this menu choice have all been accurately straightened and the text of all kinds remarkably is not only searchable but can be copied and pasted into other documents/applications with Control C and Control V.

  • Remove image borders from Wiki's

I feel silly even asking this but how can I remove borders from images I upload into Wiki's served on OS X Lion Server? The Wiki homepage has a number of large icons that don't have borders. I am looking to put together my own index page with a few custom images but they all get added with borders.
Any help locating the tick box or button I need will be greatly appreciated! Thank you all.

I'd love to know about that as well...

  • How does image borders affect calculation of "center of mass" of particles?

    Hi!
I have a question about how borders in the images affect calculation of "center of mass".
My original image (0) is a 640x480 grayscale image with border of 3.
I make a binarized image (1) of the original image (0) to search for particles. For each particle I find, I use the ROI for the particle to extract a third image (2) from the original image (0).
All of the images have borders of 3.
When using the ROI from particles in image (1), are the boundingBox-coordinates related to the outer edges of the image (which makes the image actually 646x486), or is it related to the original origo of the image (making the image "logically" 640x480)?
The same question goes for calculation of
center of mass for the particle, when using image (2). After running a particle filter on image (2), I use imaqCalcCoeff() to calculate IMAQ_CENTER_MASS_X and IMAQ_CENTER_MASS_Y, stored in local_x and local_y. To get the global_x and global_y, which is the center point of the particle related to the origo of image (0), I say that:
    global_x = local_x + boundingBox.left;
    global_y = local_y + boundingBox.top;
Do I need to make further adjustments since I am using borders, e.g. adding/extracting 3 from the global_x and global_y to have a correct answer, or is IMAQ vision taking care of this for me?
Do I have to actually define that:
    global_x = local_y + boundingBox.left - borderSize;
    or
    global_x = local_y + boundingBox.left - 2*borderSize;
I guess (and hope) that the answer is no, that I can use:
    global_x = local_x + boundingBox.left;
    -but I need it confirmed...
    Thanks,
    Torbjørn

The image border is only used for processing (filters, etc.) It is not included in any coordinates or measurements. Therefore, don't include it in any calculations.

  • Full Frame Images/Borders

I am using Photoshop Elements 6.0. I've shot an image which is horizontal, and am an trying to get the image to be full frame (square). I need to have the entire image shown so I know this needs to have a border on the top and bottom of the image. My image background is black so the border needs to be black to blend in; similar to a letter box format on a Cinemascope ratio move. Can someone please help me understand how I can get this border so that I can make a rectangular image look square? Ultimately this image will be posted to a website that requires only square images.

    Tom,
I only have PE 3 so there may be some differences in 6. Perhaps someone will correct me if I'm wrong. You need to change the "Canvas" size.
Open the picture in Editor. Click on Image/Resize/Canvas size.
Leave the Anchor centered. Set the Height to the same as the Width. Select Black for the Canvas extension color. Click OK.

  • Extending image borders/canvas?

Im not even sure if this is possible in a simple fashion, i have an image and i want to extend it to a higher resolution whilst keeping the image in proportion...
So, essentially what im hoping to do is to extend the top/bottom/left/right of the image to allow room for text etc... so far ive been trying just using a clone brush in another paint program... but as the light is a gradient etc.. its not looking uniform..
im really needing help with this... please help. Yes im a noob and very new to all this.
    thanks in advance .

You could simply change the focal length of the camera and up-rez the output. If the camera position doesn't change the perspective won't change. A wider lens will give you more image bleed for final positioning. Then change the rendering options to set the frame to something significantly larger than your comp. 3000 X 5000 pixels for example. Now you'll have all the image you need for your project.

  • What is the best practice for using portrait and landscape images within a slideshow light box?

I am trying to create an online portfolio and want to incorporate different sized images in my work. I have watched almost all of the tutorials I can find and no one really seems to address this at all.
Each demonstration I have watched uses the same size of image (eg. all landscape close ups) to fill the enlarged viewing space of the image. But what if all images are varied?
Friends have gone down the Wix path, where images, borders, descriptive text and arrows are  resized to suit each individual image automatically.
Is there any way around this though?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

Not sure what exactly you are asking but Muse handles the different orientations nicely without having to do anything.

  • HTML hovering over thumbnail to bring up larger image on top of it. How?

I am new to site and first question. So hope not too silly.    I wish to have lots of small thumbnails on page and when mouse hovers over each individual thumbnail it will enlarge into a larger image - on top of the thumbnail mouse is over.   Thanks to Nancy O answering Bravats question on this, I found the following HTML from Nancy,  however..... am darned if I am able to have the image hover exactly over the thumbnail.    Not to left, not to right, etc etc,   but over top of thumbnail.    Can someone please tell me what to put in where to make this happen?  Thank you.

  • One Pixel Borders Print Fine But Only Display At Magnification

I've looked around at some other posts on image borders and haven't seen any posts about image borders that print fine but do not predictably display in the PDF. For example, I add one-pixel borders to PNG images I create in SnagIt. I then use FrameMaker (8 and 11) to generate PDFs. When I view the PDFs in Acrobat Standard or Adobe Reader, the various sides of the rectangular border appear differently (some missing, some fat, some thin) until I magnify way over 100 %.
My document reviewers are routinely telling me I've neglected to add the 1 px border to every side if the images, but they are there--just only visible when the document is printed or when it's enlarged on the screen.
Are there any tricks for getting Adobe Acrobat/Reader to display these 1 px borders consistenly on screen? I should mention that this is also the case if I generate PDFs from MadCap Flare.

    Vincenzo
By all means, blog. But I'm wondering if something along the lines of a petition / open letter format might be more effective in affecting the corporate decision-making process. Those of us affected should discuss and, if possible, get help on who and how to get this addressed. That's why I've asked for advice on who the relevant person is who I should contact. If you've ever worked in a bureaucracy you know that sometimes talking to the right person can save a lot of time and trouble.
BTW, if the Apple moderators are following this thread, I'd be pleased to know what your thoughts are on this issue. This problem seems fairly common, but only among users of the 1.67 iteration of the 17" PB (as far as I know). We are users who invested a lot of money in the best (& most expensive) mobile hardware that Apple had to offer at the time of purchase. We're probably faithful customers who, in time, will spend a lot more money on Apple hardware in the future. Why squander goodwill over a matter like this?
It just seems to make sense that Apple would institute a limited recall to fix this known and obvious fault. It's a good idea for us and for them.

  • Strange image border / bright edges on full screen preview

    Hi,
I'm getting strange image borders on full screen preview. I've taken a photo to show this effect. Its noticebly wider on the left and right edges compared to top and bottom. Anyone know how to turn this border off?
    http://www.oriontransfer.co.nz/Projector/IMG_2307.jpg
I've often noticed it, but its become more of a problem because I've just bought a 720p projector to display some photographs. I think the low resolution exacerbates the problem.
    Regards,
    Samuel

I've added one more image of the top right hand corner. I've boosted the contrast to clearly show the problem. This problem is not just on the projector, it can also be seen on my new MacBook Pro LCD screen.
