Image button disappears in pdf output

I have converted an image into a clickable button in Indesign, but the image button disappears in the pdf output.
I also noticed that while I was creating the button and in the Button and Foam menu the "appearance" eye icon is greyed out.
Can anybody help? Thanks!

It looks like you used InDesign CS6 (because you called it the Button and Form panel).
It's OK that the appearance eye icon was grayed out. Here's how it should look:
When you export, did you choose File > Export > PDF (Interactive)?

  • CS6 - Hires Bitmap images are pixelated in PDF output

    Hello all,
I am creating Frames and using the Placing high resolution bitmaps into these frames (e.g. 1000 pixel wide .png) and then using the Object/Fitting/Fit Object Proportionally function. I am using the highest resolution practical to ensure good quality when the PDF document is zoomed in.
Unfortunately, what I am observing is that the images only look okay at 100%. Zooming in just displayed a pixilated image.
I have checked for PDF downsampling so that isn't the issue. Any ideas?
    Thank you

    Thanks Peter,
    >Just type a higher number inthe downsample to field in the dialog
I should have explained that I attempted manually changing the value but a dialog box appears... stating that I must use a value between 72 - 300 PPI.
    >You can also set no compression, or Zip compression, which is lossless.
The only options I have are: JPEG, JPEG 2000, and Automatic. BTW, I am using the latest version of InDesign CC CS6.
Nevertheless, Export to PDF wasn't what I needed. All I needed to do was modify the PDF Printer's preferences for High Quality Print. Everything is good now.
    Thanks to everyone.

  • Images are not clear in pdf output

    Hi,
Images are blurred once a pdf file is generated. Don't understand why. Please let me know a solution to get pictures with better clarity after generating a pdf .
I used to shrink the images a bit to set them in the Framemaker area. Once the pdf is generated, the quality is blur.
Please advice how to get images with good clarity and visibility.
    Thanks

  • PDF output file from Image Capture corrupted

This problem occurs only when scanning multiple page documents into image capture, the lower 1/4 of the first 2 pages are unreadable blurs. The page shows up ok in the Image capture preview window, but the PDF output is corrupted. The printer is a Brother MFC-7820N, I am scanning 150 dpi grayscale, US letter, no image correction, to PDF. The problem occurs with both of my computers, Quad G5 10.5.8, and a MacBook 10.5.8, this has happened since I purchased the printer, I was running 10.4 at the time. I have just scanned 1 page at a time with no problem, but now I have a large amount of documents to scan and I get the corrupt files. If anyone has seen this and found a solution, I would appreciate any suggestions.

Ah perfect, you made me aware of a feature kink I didn’t know about! When you import stuff using Image Capture, it goes into /private/tmp/Image Capture_Import.(string of numbers and letters).
You can navigate there by going to the Finder, hitting Command-Shift-G, and typing in /private/tmp—if the folder still exists, as it usually does for some time, sometimes even until the next restart or so—you can see the folders which should include one or more of thoe Image Capture_Import.something folders and find your files.
Incidentally, if you want to find a “system” file, i.e., one that’s in a location normally hidden by the Finder, you can:
    1. Open up a new Spotlight/Find window in the Finder, and start searching by name.
    2. Next to where it says Search: This Mac… etc. there’s a + button. Click that, then
    3. From the dropdown menu choose Other… and look in the list for “System files” and check the “In Menu” checkbox for it.
    4. Hit OK.
    5. Choose “System Files” which is now in the dropdown, choose “are included” from the next dropdown.
Be careful what you do with files you find using this method. It will show everything, including files essential to running your Mac properly, so unless you know exactly what you’re doing, don’t just start dragging files off this window onto your Desktop or anything, try to copy them instead by option-dragging (holding down the option key while dragging)—that way, you’re only making copies, not moving a file from where it’s supposed to be, and your Mac can find it.
Hope this helps! If you can’t find your files this way, there are other programs which can undelete and perform other operations to recover data… this happens to everyone, no matter how long you’ve been a user.

  • Transparent shadow crossing over the image in pdf output

    Hi Folks,
In recent days, we are frequently facing problem in using of tiff format image in InDesign. In pdf output, there is some transparent shadow crossing over the image. The problem occurs in ps to pdf as well as export pdf settings. The issue was not happened for the past 5 years.
If it is a reproducible error, we could find the root cause of the problem. But the same issue does not occur if we create the pdf again. Please see below the differences in viewing of actual image & problematic image and suggest how to resolve this and why it happens.
    Issue 1:
Actual view of image shown in left side; Corrupted view of image shown in right side
    Issue 2:
    Issue 3:
Now I have suggested my team to convert all tiff images to psd image format. I really don't know whether it helps. All I need is to know the root cause of the issue. Anybody please suggest would be really helpful.

    @Tyson:
In Issue 2, horizontal green color shading is crossing above the play/pause icon in right hand side of the image.
In Issue 3, I have displayed the screenshot of the image placed in InDesign to show the original view of the image. But the problem shows in right hand side that is pdf output view. You can see the horizontal green color shading in 1st image and light grey color shading (at the top of "NO" text) in 2nd image.
Actual & Effective PPi of top of the image --> 597
Actual & Eff. PPI of bottom of the image --> 477
    PS to pdf creation:
Crops & bleeds ON, Composite CMYK color output, Image data: All, Postscript: Level3, Data format: Binary, Printer profile: Document CYMK-US. web coated
If you need more details, I'm ready to give you. Please let me know.

  • Problems with image on PDF output.

In my report, I inserted an image (.jpg format) in the margin section. The background of the image is white. In Oracle Reports Builder, the image was just fine. However, when generating the PDF output, it seems like the image in  PDF was mixed with another color, or the background color has been changed. Why?
Due to confidential information, I cannot provide the screenshot here.

Appears to be a case of exceeding the original 100% w/h of the images.
Generally the images should be 'prepped' in size (to match the quality when zoomed). So the starting size of the images/icons on the stage should be scaled smaller - then the zoom will factor to the original size. I hope that made some sense.

  • Dynamic images in reports -- PDF output

In Reports uilder I can link an image object to a URL as described in the product help. This works well with an HTML output but in PDF only the image URL appears.
How could I solve this problem?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The URL method of including images in valid only for HTML output.
The Reports Builder Help on "Images says that:
You can add an image to a report by:
    - selecting a column in the database that contains images
    - importing the image from a file into the report layout
    - linking an image object to a file
    - for HTML output, selecting a column in the database that contains URL links to images or linking an image object to a URL
If you reference a URL for an image, the image is displayed when you format your report for HTML output. For other output formats, the URL text displays in the Paper Design view
The reason for this is that Oracle Reports will only write the URL in the output. In case of HTML output, the browser can understand the URL, so it will fetch the image from the URL and show it. But this cannot be done by Acrobat Reader.
For PDF output you will have to use one of the other methods of inserting an image.
    Navneet.

  • Image issue in PDF output

I am running into an issue that I have narrowed down to the PDF output generated by XML Publisher. I have an image file (JPEG format) that is dynamically loaded from a file in $OA_MEDIA. When the output is PDF and when it is printed, the image is enclosed in a gray rectangle. When the output is RTF, the image is not enclosed. In either case, screen previews do not show any borders around the image. Has anyone encountered this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sunder

make sure when you are printing the document that you are using a postscript printer driver. If you are using pcl it will encase the image with a light grey background

  • Frame artifacts appearing in PDF output

I have a problem with faint artifacts of object frames, rectangle frames and diagonals, etc. appearing in a PDF output when viewed in Acrobat Reader. They are hairline thin and are not visible in the InDesign document on screen.
Here are the circumstances of it occurring:
    I'm using CS5.
The PDF is output for a publication that requires PDF X-1a:2003 standard.
The artwork, and any placed images are in CMYK. Transparency blend space is set to Document CMYK.
The background layer for the ad. is rich black 50:0:0:100 and the artifacts are showing up over a white logo.
Placed near the logo is a transparent background PSD image file with a drop shadow on the subject. (This object frame is one of the artifact sources) If this image is removed, the problem disappears.
Tif files don't seem to cause the same problem, but I'm having difficulty placing tifs and retaining transparency; the background always turns white, which doesn't happen with PSDs.
Be grateful of advice as to preventing this happening; Thanks.

We can confirm with a screen shot, but it sounds like a flattening artifact known as stitching. This shows on screen in the PDF, and often in a low-resolution print, but usually is not a problem on press.
You have to specifically opt to save transparency in the Tiff options dialog. You'll find once you do, though, that the stitching returns -- it's the transparency and flattening that causes this.
You can embed a screen shot using the camera icon on the web page like this:

  • Watermark comes up in PDF output but does not show in RTF

    Hi All,
I am using rtf templates with watermarks (or Background Images). The requirement is to convert these templates to pdf and rtf formats. The watermarks show perfectly when the rtf is converted to pdf format, but when the same template is converted to a rtf, all the formatting disappears and no watermark appears. What may be the issue here? It would be great if someone could help me out on this issue.
The version details are as follows:
The OBIEE and BI Publisher version is 10.1.3.4. We have not applied any patches except for one related (7140673) to presentation services. The OS is windows 2003 Server.
Is there any patch that I need to add to enable this feature? Or is this issue related to something else?

We have applied patch 11846804 (I believe the latest patch) and I only see a fix related to PDF output but no reference to anything for RTF in the readme file.... You may have to check with Oracle by logging an SR.
    Thanks,
    Bipuser

  • PDF output does not refresh data in BI Publisher, XML and HTML do refresh

I just upgraded to BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.0 and I noticed that the PDF format of the reports does not reflect recent changes in data, while XML data and HTML output do reflect changes in data immediately.
I'm using BI Publisher to print APEX applications reports. When I change some data in APEX forms, I click again in the Print button and the data remains unchanged. I made some testing inside Oracle BI Publisher, and noticed that XML data and HTML output do reflect changes, but PDF output remains with the old data for some unknown amount of time. I cannot identify a method to force the PDF to refresh, just un-log and log in again several times until the data appears updated. This is serious because when users change data and print again, they expect the changes to be reflected in the new printable report, and may not notice that the data is the old version.
    OS is Oracle Enterprise Linux.
Any help on this will be very welcome.

Open the report in Edit Mode Click on the reports and in the properties section Uncheck the
Enable Document Cache Property and your issue should be resolved.

  • No data found in report csv or pdf output on first page load

No data found in report csv output on first page load. Report shows up on page, but no data found in csv or pdf output. I always need to submit the page and then it shows data in downloads. The page contains a form (read-only) with a report that references 4 page items by using something like the following:
    and b.employee_no = v('P5_EMPLOYEE_NO')
    and c.fisc_year_pk = v('P5_FISC_YEAR_PK')
    and b.job_class = v('P5_JOB_CLASS')
    and b.organization = v('P5_ORGANIZATION')
Again, report in the page shows up except there is no data in downloads. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I'm running Oracle APEX 4.2.1 in Oracle database 11gR2.
    Thanks.

Sounds like a classic session state issue.
You need to populate you page items using page rendering computations to ensure they're set to session state.
Or if the download is triggered from a button press, you need to ensure those page items are submitted to session state, perhaps via a PL/SQL action.

  • Barcode printing in XML report PDF output

    Hi All,
I want to print barcode of invoice number / purchase order number in the XML report PDF output.
Anyone please suggest me with your ideas and experience.

    Hi Bogdan,
The steps mentioned in the doc is what i did in order.
    I couldn't understand the step # 13 & 14.
Log in as XML Publisher Administrator
Navigate to Administration --> Font Files --> Create Font File
Available fields are Font Name and File
--> for Font Name, choose any descriptive name
--> file will browse your PC to locate the font file
Navigate to Font Mappings -->Create Font Mapping Set
Mapping name is the name you will give to a set of fonts.
Mapping code is the internal name you will give to this set
Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.
Create Font Mapping (this allows you to add fonts to a set)
Font Family is the exact same name you see in MS Word under Font. If you don't use the same name the font will not be picked up at runtime.
Style and weight must also match how you use the font in the RTF or PDF layout template. Normal and Normal are good defaults.
Language and Territory should remain blank (NULL) unless you have a strong business reason, as these fields can cause the font not to be picked up at runtime.
Navigate to Configuration General -> FO Processing -->Font Mapping Set. This can also be done at Data Definition and Template level, via the corresponding Edit Configuration button on those pages. The hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
    Select your new mapping set.
Make sure the font is not referenced under File --> Properties --> Custom in the RTF template file.
Under General, set a Temporary Directory. The font will be stored under a /fonts directory at runtime, initially created the first time the font is used.
Upload a template that uses your special font and test using preview or by submitting a concurrent request.
