Image capture app

Hi guys
I have a bit of a problem. I have 1 CanoScan LiDE60 scanner
This is on my G4 mini Mac I can have access to it through my network from my iBook G4. But I do not seem to be able to see it with my Intel iMac.
Can it be done between a G4 and Intel? And if so how do I do it. I use the app Image Capture in applications across the network
iMac g3, iBook12", 'Minimac superdrive', intel iMac 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   all have 1 gig ram

Hi, shaka.
Very strange. Unfortunately, I don't have an Intel-based Mac on hand at the moment to test this issue. You might want to search or post on one of the iMac (Intel Core Duo) Discussions to see if someone else with a mixed environment of PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs can reproduce the problem you are seeing with Image Capture. It may be a bug.
Another possibility would be to post to the Networking and the Web Discussion, though I'd try the Intel-based iMac Discussions first.
If you post on the Intel-based iMac Discussion, include a link to this topic so those responding can also see what you've already tried.
Good luck!

  • Image Capture.app is missing.  How can I replace it

I cannot find Image Capture.app on my Mac (OS 10.5).  I assume it should be in the Applications folder.  Can I replace it and how?

Use Pacifist to extract it from your Mac OS X 10.5 DVD and then run the Mac OS X 10.5.8 combo updater.

  • Image Capture app not working since migrating to Lion.

Image Capture app isn't working so well since migrating to 10.7 Lion. Now when I try to scan, Image Capture hangs with a "Crop and Rotate" message. It doesn't import into iPhoto. Anyone else run into this type of problem?

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Image Capture app: wont recog iPhone 3Gs

my iPhone 3gs has been working fine with Snow Leopard's Image Capture app
today when I connected it - SL wont recognize the iPhone at all
    tried:
    restarting Macbook Pro
    restarting iPhone
all I get is from Image Capture is "no camera or scanner connected".
When I launch ITunes I can sync the phone normally.
    What gives ?

Recently had the exact same problem. All of a sudden neither my MacBook nor my PC would recognize the iPhone as a camera device. Image Capture wouldn't work for me either. I used iDrive Lite to back up some photos online from my phone, and then followed the directions posted in this forum.
I deleted all the photos from my Camera Roll. Rebooted iPhone.
After rebooting, I took a picture, hooked my iPhone up to the Mac, and iPhoto opened up again.
I tried it on the PC, and the PC also now recognizes the iPhone as well.
I had screenshots and saved photos from emails, as well as shots taken with the iPhone itself, and I didn't progressively delete them, so I cannot attest as to which photos were the culprit. I just mass deleted them all.
They should fix this problem ... it's a pain. But iDrive Lite is free and you can at least back up your pics.

  • Image Capture doesn't recognize my Canon device camera (it has before). I made a copy of the Image Capture app by mistake.  What do I do?

My Macbook doesn't have iPhoto installed. ??  I don't know why, because it used to be installed.
I have been able to download photos from my camera using Image Capture, but now Image Capture doesn't show my camera in the Devices window.  It did yesterday.
Ideally, I would like to install iPhoto again, but how do I do it without having to purchase the app again?
    This might also be relevant:
I wanted to add an Image Capture icon to my dock, but I inadvertently made a copy of the app (called Image Capture copy).  When I tried to erase the copy, I couldn't.  Image Capture copy is in my Trash and the Image Capture app is in my Applications folder.  I tried opening the app from both the Trash version and the app version, but it doesn't help.
    Please help!
    Sue

Use the disks that came with your Mac to do a custom install of the software you need, i.e. iPhoto.  The disk should look like #4 in this screenshot:

  • Disable Image Capture app

Since I can't delete the Image Capture App, how do I disable, break, maim or otherwise stop it from starting when I plug in a Compact Flash card?
    Bill

Start Image capture and highlight the CF card.  Click on the little triangle in the lower left.  Select No application in the drop down box.

  • Image Capture App fails in Mavericks

I have just recently downloaded Mavericks, and the one app that does not function is Image Capture so no camera is functioning. I ahve looked very widely at the net and it seems to be a widespread problem. It is a perfectly functionning app in my previous setup. I can find it back in Time machnine, but I can not seem to get it to work in Maverick.
It is not available in the App Store. It is native to Apple and will not stand any interference.
Surely this is a glitch that Apple should fix with an update, and not expect amateur computer people to fiddle around with NVRAM etc etc.
Why would a perfectly good app (from Apple) stop working in a new installation. It does not make sense!!!!

What happens when you try to use it?

  • I deleted photos from my iPhone but still see them in Image Capture app

I am running iOS 8 and I have a problem with my photo library. I deleted all the photos form my phone, and went into "recently deleted" and made sure I permanently deleted them, however when I plug my phone into my Mac and look in image capture, I still see over 400 photos in there. Does anybody know if there's any way to figure out where these photos reside on my iPhone? They aren't viewable through the photos app and seem to be taking up space but are not usable.
I currently have all iCloud photo related functions turned off.

    Hello J-a-x,
It sounds like you are seeing photos in Image Capture that you have removed from the Photos app by deleting them from the Recently Deleted album. It seems to me that the Photos app is going to be the linchpin here so thats where I would troubleshoot. Start by closing all the apps that are running on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the iPhone:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Then see if the photos are showing anywhere in the Photos app. If so delete them once more, in the same way you had before, also removing them from Recently Deleted and see if Image Capture is detecting them or not.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Image Capture App Not recognizing Iphone

Using a MBP with 10.5 with most recent updates. Running iphone 1.14
Iphoto does not import my pictures from my iphone. This is because image capture doesn't recognize it.
I have read many posts about this and will let you know what I have tried so far.
    - Disabled auto syncing in itunes and image capture
    - deleted the plist for iphoto, image capture, and preview.
    - reinstalled image capture from original leopard cd using pacifist.
    - reset and rebooted both devices many times.
I have an alternate install of OS X Leopard on an external USB drive which works well with my iphone and image capture, shows up right away.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be. I have given up, tried everything I could think of, but I know the problem lies with image capture not recognizing the iphone.

Already tried a connection without a hub, on both usb ports on the macbook.
As for secondary software that might interfere, none installed to my knowledge.
Well it looks like the mac quote of "it just works" doesnt work in my situation, I dont feel like booting to my second hard drive just to sync the photos. So I guess I will have to wait until my new macbook for a fresh install because I dont want to erase everything currently on my book.
might try and install and archive next time I have some serious software issues and hopefully that will solve my problems.

  • "Scan" button grayed out in Image Capture.app

Two days ago my scanner was working fine with Image Capture. Just now when I tried to scan again, Image Capture sees the scanner and does the "Overview" scan just fine, however when I go to do the actual scan, the SCAN button is grayed out and I can't scan my documents. Does anyone know what might be going on?

I reselected the scanner and that seemed to do the trick.

  • Image Capture App quits before it even starts

I'm trying to download some video clips from my Fuji FinePix digital camera and need to use Image Capture... but the darn thing won't even open! How do I find out what's wrong and get it to work again??
    Thanks

Hello AgnieszkaW, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    Might try this...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Trash any all of these files & reboot...

    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ImageCapture?.plist
    /Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.ImageCapture?.anything.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.ImageCapture?.plist

  • You cannot open "Image Capture.app" because it may be damaged or incomplete

Any ideas how to deal with this.
I figured I could download a version of it, but cannot find a Mac OS download site

I have the identical problem. I tried re-installing the bundled software from the OSX install discs, but that didn't help. I don't really want to re-install and then update the entire OS, and I'd rather not spend $20 for shareware. Is there any other way to fix this non-functioning application?

  • Warning: iOS 8 Resized My Images When Exporting Via Image Capture

I have an iPad Air and I take lots of pictures. I installed iOS 8 last night. I don't like the lack of a Photo Stream and a Camera Roll, but I am willing to try new things, so I decided to clear out all the images from my iPad and start from scratch. Unfortunately, I've run into a pretty bad reproducible bug.
First I copied all the Moments (i.e. Camera Roll) Photos on the iPad to my Mac using the Image Capture app. I've been doing this for years. Everything came out fine with those photos.
I also had several iCloud shared albums so I decided to start over with them as well. Hmm, how to copy them over to my Mac? I tapped one picture and tapped "Share -> Save Image". OK that worked! So to save some time I tapped "Select" and then tapped all the pictures in the folder. Once again I tapped "Share -> Save 20 Images". Worked fine. Deleted the shared album. Did this with five other albums. Now everything is clean and I can start figuring out how this works from scratch.
OR SO I THOUGHT. Once the pictures were on my Mac, I realized the pictures I exported one at a time were fine, but the ones I exported in groups came out at odd low resolutions - 257 x 342, 256 x 384, 268 x 332, instead of the full resolution of the original pictures.
Luckily I had copies of all these pictures backed up, but this is not appropriate behavior. There was no warning that the pictures would be saved at a lower resolution. I'm not even sure the Photos app "meant" to do this. Why weren't the full sized images exported? Has anyone else had this experience? Could someone check and see if this is happening on their iPad?

The photos in this thread are the same exported files that are in the slideshow. As you advance through the slideshow(try looking at the shadows to right of the subject and his sunglasses), you'll see a change in tone/saturation that, however subtle, is quite alarming for a consistent workflow.
I always work with calibrated display profiles, and was told by Aperture Pro support to try the export with a standard, device independent profile to rule out a display profile related issue. I told them on the phone that while I'd try it, that would not be a viable solution long term for me, or any other professional, as different screens need to have independent, calibrated profiles for a consistent working environment.
That said, regardless of the display profile(I tried multiple scenarios - including calibrated profiles), the exported file is always the same on the same machines - and as I said before, distinctly unique to each machine. The display profile should have nothing to do with it anyways, as that is simple a translation of the the 'static' data onto a specific screen. I'm not saying the screens look different to me, I'm saying that the exported files are different when viewed together on any one screen.
These are all fresh installs of the same download; no settings in the software have been changed, except for what I've detailed above. The processing of the color/export should be the same from the same file in the same library with the same adjustments and the same software settings, but it's not.
Can anyone try this same test in another environment? Or does anyone know how Aperture might leverage hardware perhaps in it's processing of color?

  • I can print to a Lexmark X4550, but not scan (with Image Capture)

Following tips (by "Lexmark Listens" and others) I succeded in printing (via USB and wifi) to a Lexmark X4550.
But when scanning (via USB) using the Image Capture app (included in Mac OS), Image Capture sees the scanner a couple of seconds, then complains that no scanner is connected (although it still is).
This happens with a MacBook (Pro), but not with another MacBook (white).
I tried (not necessarily in this order):
    - reboot
    - repair disk permissions
    - re-installing drivers (both printer driver and "Image Capture Application Scan Driver for for 10.6.8 and later Mac OS") from Lexmark support site.
    - running Mac OS software update (which updated the printer driver to version 2.8]
    - resetting the printing system: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341
How can I completely remove all files related to Lexmark printers&scanners and try again installing from a clean state?
(I see in other posts that a Lexmark Uninstaller is sometimes located in HD/Library/Printers/Lexmark/YEAR/ ; I used to have one here, but it was removed during previous attempts at getting the scanner working ; and anyway when I run this Uninstaller at the time, it did not completely clean the /Printer/Lexmark)
My problem is very similar to this one described in this bug report in Lexmark knowledge base:
    http://bit.ly/MOR9bd
But the patch proposed is "For Mac OS X 10.6 only" and titled "LexmarkPro800-Pro900SeriesQFE1.0.0.dmg" so I don't think it would work for a Lexmark X4550. (Indeed I installed this patch and the problem is still there).
As for the workaround suggested, "When using Apple's Image Capture application, do not use the "Show Details" option [...]", I can't get it to work: as soon as I launch Image Capture, it starts scanning (a preview) and the "Show Details" bouton is grayed out.
I've already spent many hours trying to get this printer-scanner to work with my Mac.
Any suggestion would be very helpful!

Same issue, sort of.  After ML upgrade, Lexmark x264dn fails to register as a printer & scanner, there is no scan tab anymore.   Also, image capture application is stuck in a crash loop until I disable mDNS (bonjour) on the printer.   Still, it does not register as a scanner anywhere (protoshop, image capture, preview...)
I have installed all the package scripts from Lexmark's Mountain Lion support page.   No dice.

  • Image Capture- Canon Scanner no longer appears

I had been using my old Canon Canoscan LiDE 60 with Snow Leopard's "Image Capture" app.
I then got "creative" and installed the driver and scan app from the Canon web site which I discovered will not work with Snow Leopard. When I went back to "Image Capture" it now would not see the scanner either.  So I ran the Canon "Uninstall Driver" (from their site) and downloaded and installed that latest Printer/Scanner Canon drivers from Apple. Image Capture still will not "see" the scanner.
    Any suggestions?
    OSX 10.6.7

Solved my own problem... the CanoScan Toolbox software needs to be installed PRIOR TO the CanoScan driver install, just the opposite of what I would expect.
