Image Capture can't see Epson v700 scanner in Lion:

Never Mind. Fixed It.  I re-installed the scanner software (dated July 2009) and everything is fine now.  I don't know how Drivers from before Lion, and the same version # as I was already using, could fix this... but it did.  Maybe someone in the same boat will find it useful.  The drivers are here :   http://www.epson.co.uk/Store/Scanners/Epson-Perfection-V700-Photo/Drivers-Suppor t?supportLandingPage=true
Hello
I've recently upgraded my OS X 10.6.8 to Lion... currently at 10.7.4.  I have an Epson v700 scanner, connected via USB, that works with the Epson Scan application and with VueScan.  But Image Capture can't see it.  I installed the ICA driver update from Epson.  I've done the OS X Software Update.  No help so far.
I can't install the Epson v700 in the Print & Scan preferences pane as well because it just seem to "see" any scanners. I had earlier deleted the scanner because an Epson KB article had said to delete the scanner, then do the OS X Software Update, then to re-add the scanner.  But the scanner is not being seen by OS X directly so I can't add it back... though Epson Scan and VueScan seem to be able to scan.  Very odd.
Any other suggestions?
Yes, I've restarted the system... though I may try it again.
Thanks...

Canon Australia is hosting a scanner driver for 10.8 and MP Navigator v3.0.5 for your MP180. Install the scanner driver first and then MP Navigator.
Note that Canon is not hosting an ICA driver for this model, which is used by Image Capture and Preview. So this would explain the lack of the scanner entry in the KB article that Clinton has mentioned (the vendors make the drivers - Apple just hosts them).

  • Image Capture can't see scanner

I upgraded to Mountain Lion and while the printer function of my Canon MP 180 is working, the scanner is not working now. Image Capture doesn't see the scanner. Following advice on this forum, I deleted the printer in system preferences > print&scan and the reinstalled it a few times. I also downloaded the 2 available (but old) drivers from Canon. Still nothing works. Can anyone help?

  • Image Capture doesn't see my printer/scanner

    iMac 27 / OSX 10.9 (Tried updating and there aren't any available) / HP 6500 e709a printer all-in-one 9USB connected)
I went to scan something this evening, clicked Image Capture and it open but didn't show any devices or option to add one. System preferences sees the device pius an additional printer I have connected. They both print or at least did. It was suggested that I delete the 6500 and re-add it. When I do that it says there isn't any software available at this time. Ugh!
    Any thoughts? Thank you, CJOB

    Install drivers from this link:
    HP_Lion_Ink_SW_v12.13.2.dmg
Then one labelled HP from Apple:
    HP
If that doesn't work, look at Image Capture's preferences and enable TWAIN.
    If that doesn't work, try
    Vuescan
    Silverfast

It's generally recommended not to use a USB hub with the iPhone. I've used one with no problems but many have reported solving sync problems just by eliminating the hub and plugging directly into a USB2.0 port.
    I'm sure.
The trouble is that there are too many bits of hardware that are recommended not to use a hub with. I have a PhoneValet (which won't work at all with a hub) and a set of first generation Harman-Kardon speakers (ditto). Then I need a USB port to plug the hub itself into, and that's my three USB ports used up.

  • Image capture, can't scan

I have an epson 2480 scanner that worked with image capture in tiger. After upgrading to Leopard, it seems that I can no longer scan. Image Capture speaks to the scanner (the scanner will scan a preview when I launch image capture), but the scan button is greyed out.
This ***** because I would use image capture to share the scanner with other users in my group. Now, the only way to scan is to sit at the computer that is hooked up to the scanner and scan there using the epson scan software.
If anyone has any ideas as to how to re-enable image capture scanning, I would love to hear it.
On another note, image capture does not work on any local account on the machine, whether admin or standard.
    Thanks for any advice...

As far as sharing the scanner using image capture, browse to the scanner (devices > browse devices), then click on the sharing button on the bottom left of the window...You can share the device from there, and add a password if necessary...
    Cool when it works!
However, you cannot have more than 1 computer at a time using the scanner, so if another person has image capture open (but isn't using the scanner), you need to make them quit....
Still, this works pretty well (well, at least it did work pretty well
BTW-I thought I had installed the latest driver, but I will try again and see.....

  • Acrobat X doesn't recognize my EPSON V700 scanner (Mac OS X 10.7)

Due to the restiction that TWAIN drivers usually don't support 64bit I had given up to see my EPSON V700 appearing in any of the CS5 application. With the recent installation of CS6 i was positively surprised that Photoshop recognizes the scanner. However, Acrobat X doesn't and I would appreciate any tips how to proceed.
My configuration: Intel MacPro (2007) with Mac OS X 10.7 with all latest patches, Adobe CS6

After reading a few other articles in this forum  about smilar problems I found the answer myself: While Photoshop uses the ICA driver provided by Apple Acrobat doesn't. Acrobat requires the installation of the drivers and software provided by EPSON. This package can be found on the EPSON web site, but only when searching for drivers for Mac OS X.6 that also run on OS X.7.

  • Image Capture and Preview have trouble finding scanner. Photoshop no problem.

Image Capture and Preview have trouble finding the scanner wirelessly unless it is on when the Mac starts up. Photoshop finds the scanner no problem. Any suggestions for Image Capture or Preview?
The scanner is Canon MP620. Mac is MBP, running 10.8.2
I have done all the uninstall, reinstall, update drivers, etc. Please don't bother suggesting that stuff.
    Thanks.

As for the scanner - so is this new one wireless? When I hooked up my Epson All-in-One, I had to install it via USB first before I could install the wireless (per their instructions).  With Snow Leopard, I simply installed the driver and it covered and recognized both the print and scan function - not so in Lion; I had to go through hoops with the scanner part and it finally showed up as a separate unit. I thought that is silly, but - as long as it works.....  I'm trying to think of possibilities since I'm about out of ideas, so you might want to consider that (if it applies). The other troubleshooting suggestions usually include redoing the "add" function after a reboot.
As for Image Capture, I am out of ideas. FWIW, I never use it - in my workflow, there is no need for it. Not sure if this would have an impact, but make sure that you choose Image Capture in the CDs&DVDs Preference Pane (mine is set to ignore or ask purposely):
If that does not work, I'd suggest reinstalling the OS over the top of what you have.

  • Image Capture doesn't see or download my photos taken since update to iOS4

    Hi!
I updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS4 a couple of days ago. Since then, Image Capture stopped seeing (and therefore can't download either!) the photos I've been taking, which are stored in my camera roll. It can still see those taken before the update.
    Any idea...?
    Help would be much appreciated!

@august1851 -- I had the same issue: took 84 photos on the iPod Touch but couldn't get ImageCapture.app or iPhoto.app to recognize that there were images on the device.
My solution was to (a) install Dropbox on the iPod, (b) log in to Dropbox using my existing account, and (c) telling Dropbox to sync photos from my iPod to my Dropbox account.
The entire upload process took about an hour, but now I have access to my photos!

  • Preview/Image Capture/Printer Utility cannot recognize Canon scanner

    Hey forum,
I have a Canon MP500 all-in-one. It communicates well enough with my 2006 Macbook to print, but upon attempting to scan via Preview>Import from Scanner, Image Capture, or Printer Utility, it doesn't even recognize that the scanner even exists.
    I have...
    1) Restarted both the Canon and the Macbook
    2) Installed the latest drivers from the Canon website
    3) Deleted and re-added the printer via System Preferences
Does anyone have any other suggestions??

Do you have the MP500 connected to the USB port of an Airport device, such as an Express? If yes, then this is a known limitation of the Airport devices, in that they only support printing - not scanning.
If the MP500 is connected directly to the Mac via USB, then the scanner should be listed with the printer. If you open Print & Fax and select the MP500 in the list, the right pane should show two buttons for the device - Print and Scan, as shown towards the bottom of [this|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3771] article. If you only see Print then ensure you have downloaded this version of the [scanner driver for the MP500|http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0900217401.html] from Canon.

  • Image Capture can no longer download from iPhone

For some time - I think since Yosemite upgrade, I can no longer download photos from my iPhone 5. (I do not use iCloud, and there are some other issues with iPhoto so I haven't tried.  iTunes can still perform backup.)
Back when, I was using Google Picasa as main tool to download from iOS to MacOS.  For some time, maybe since a certain iOS (8?) update, Picasa would simply begin a download, and spill out an error upon the simplest job - like a single picture.  As such, I went back to Apple's Image Capture and found it still worked.  Until recently, that is.  Now, Image Capture simply starts an "Import", shows a progress bar, but makes no progress whatsoever.  When I retried Picasa, Picasa does the same, i.e., the error message is no more, replaced by a no-progress progress bar.
I usually only perform import when iPhone is filling up.  So this is a devastating problem.  Please help.

    Hello sillyvalley,
Sorry to hear that you are having issues with importing photos to your Mac. Now I am not sure what the communication problem is with Picasa, I can say that there are other alternatives to import your photos in, like using iPhoto or Image Capture. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • IPhoto 9.6 and Image Capture can't import from iPhoto, don't recognize devices or SD cards

I'm running the latest version of Yosemite on a recent MacBook Pro, with iPhoto 9.6. I recently noted when trying to import photos from an SD card that iPhoto didn't recognize the SD card automatically, and ask whether I wanted to import my photos. I was able to manually tell iPhoto to import, and find the photos by navigating to the SD card on the desktop and finding the right directories on it, so I figured it was just a hiccup and went on with my life. But now I've hooked up my iPhone 5S via USB to my Mac, and iPhoto neither recognizes that it's connected nor imports photos from it. Image Capture doesn't recognize it, either.
    A few further notes:
    - I'm running iOS 8.1 on the phone.
    - My phone is unlocked when I'm trying to import photos.
    - iTunes 12 can recognize and connect with the phone just fine.
Anyone having similar problems? Is there any help for this issue? Thanks much!

  • Image Capture can't save to Network Server

I have a Canon MX860 connected via wireless to my network. I'm running 10.6.6 on the mac. When I scan an image, Image Capture only allows to save to the local hard drive. It shows my Network Server (in the Scan To | Other ... dialog box), but it's grayed out, so I can't select it to save to. Is there a way to save to a network drive?

I am having this same problem when I try to upload photos from my camera. To add to the mystery, Image Capture will allow me to import from a camera and save to my NAS using my MacBook Pro, but not with my iMac - even though both are running the latest OS X. Has anyone figured out why this happens? I spent an hour on the phone with Apple tech support and they couldn't figure it out.

  • Image Capture won't see my iPhone 4s running iOS 6.1

I use Image Capture to pull images off my phone since I don't have iPhoto and I like to have more control of where my photos go. However today I plugged my iPhone 4s running iOS 6.1 into my MacBook Pro 2010 running Lion 10.7.4 and the iPhone will popup in Image Capture, load pics and then dissapear. This was never an issue with iOS 6.0
    Does anyone know what happened?
