Image capture cannot detect Epson 10000XL over network.
I have an Epson Expression 10000XL scanner with an ethernet card, connected to an Airport Express, and then wirelessly to my iMac. The Epson Scan application detects the scanner and allows scanning to take place, but Image Capture does not detect the scanner. How do I also get Image Capture to detect my scanner wirelessly? Thank you.
As promised, I called Apple this morning, and they said that Epson (not Apple) was responsible for providing the drivers for their scanners. Since I can connect my iMac and Epson scanner to all of my scanning applications through a USB connection, and can only connect wirelessly to Epson Scan, it follows that Epson provides only a driver to connect with their proprietary Epson Scan and no drivers for connecting to other scanning software, including Image Capture.
This looks like the end of my efforts to connect wirelessly to Image Capture. Thanks for your help, PAHU.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have. -
Why does Image Capture stop recognizing Epson scanner after scanning several images? I have to stop and start the scanner in order for Image Capture to recognize it again.

Might be corrupted preferences (.plist)
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.image_Capture.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.image_Capture.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac and your scanner and try scanning an image. -
Image Capture not detecting Scanner over Network
I have an Epson Workforce 610 which is installed as a network printer (wired ethernet) in my Home Office. OSX Mavericks will find and load the ppropriate drivers for the printer, and printing is fine. However Image Capture does not show the scanner portion in its window. Devices read as (0).
If I connect via USB cable the Scanner shows up with no problem. Disconnect USB no scanner.
Has anyone got a workforce 610 successfully scanning over ethernet?
Thank,

On the network computer, does System Preferences save it as a Shared Printer?
The reason I ask is that I can't.
I can select and save as follows:
But when I re-open System Preferences, the system has de-selected it: -
Cannot connect to printer over network from Linux
When I run hp-setup, I can get the printer listed but it appears to refuse to communicate with the device. Same problem for wired ethernet as well as wireless.
Please help, I think I have tried everything by now...
Firewall disabled on the workstation does not help. Talking to the printers web interface (:8080) works perfectly. The printer works perfectly via USB. Also works fine from another windows PC (networked)

Help! Image Capture scanning detected images solid black! Screen cap inside.
I know this is not a forum for Image Capture, but there is no dedicated forum for it, and I figure there are smarter people here with regards to images.
Image Capture is scanning ~some~ detected images solid black. It presents an overview scan just fine, but than the final files are black.
Here is a screen capture:iPhoto earlier than iPhoto 9 (11) does not support Grayscale because it adds a color profile name Dot Gain 20%. This profile is not compatible with iPhoto. You can either rescan those photos as color photos or change the profile to sRGB or RGB.
I've created an Automator workflow application, Convert to JPG and Embed sRGB profile, that will convert B/W files to a jpg file with the sRGB profile. However, is doing so it adds an additional jpeg compression level to the file resulting is a smaller file size but not a smaller image size. You can download it from Toad's Cellar.
The conversion will have to be done on the photos outside of iPhoto before they are imported. So you will have to export the original files to a folder on the Desktop, run the application on them and then reimport the new files.

Image capture and detect separate items
I have a Lexmark Genesis S816 multifunction printer and am using Mac OSx 10.7.5. I am trying to scan multiple photos and have an issue with "Detect Separate Items". This feature works, but with odd quirks.
With the details panel open, the initial scan works well. On the second scan, I have multiple boxes on the screen and each picture is scanned multiple times. The Use custom size check box is checked and I am saving the images as .jpeg with a resolution of 300 dpi.
If I close the details panel, the images are scanned a single time, but I have no control over the size or position of the images. If a picture has a light background, the automatic feature cuts off part of the picture, believing the image stopped at that point.
Any suggestions
DaveJohn,
Can you take a look and delete any of these files that exist:
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Image_Capture.<some long number>.plist
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.ImageCapture2.<some long number>.plist
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.ImageCaptureExtension2.<some long number>.plist
~/Library/Preferences/Image_Capture.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ImageCaptureApp.plist
Yes I know a couple of them were already on your list. If they are back, delete them again. Hopefully this will get you to a clean starting point.
Just trying to help.

Cannot detect CFP 2000 on network
Hi
I am trying to detect a CFP 2000 device in the measurement and automation explorer software, the device and PC are on the same subnet and no firewalls are present yet there is nothing to select under remote systems.
When I switch the device on the status LED is continuous, then after 5-10 seconds flashes continuously. I have tried the reset IP switch then resetting but this does not work either.
I am new to using NI equipment but have been informed the device was working fine 4 weeks ago, and no changes have taken place since. Any suggestions to get it working again?
Thanks for the help
AshleyThank you for the quick reply. The status LED is continuously flashing and appears to be in no sequence, looking at the manual (quote below) this seems like there is no IP address assigned although according to the network administrator this should happen automatically.
"After about five seconds, the STATUS LED begins flashing. The cFP-20xx is ready to be configured, and you can install the FieldPoint
software. If you have already assigned an IP address to the cFP-20xx, the STATUS LED turns off, the I/O module READY LEDs come on, and the cFP-20xx
is ready for use. The total boot time for a configured system is 30–45 seconds."
Thanks

My iPhone 5 cannot detect or join any network unless it is 5 inches near any router
Hi,
For more than two weeks now I have this problem & I tried everything from resetting network setting to restoring my iPhone 5.
I bought it one month ago & it was working just fine with my work & home WiFi networks. One day suddenly lost the signal.
Now I came to know after several attempts that it will detect & join any network provided that I stay "literary" beside the router!!!
I Googled the problem & I tried every possible solution but all failed to solve it.
I was waiting for release of the new iOS but it is taking too long. I am thinking to try the beta 6.1! Any ideas??
P.S/ My wife's iPhone 5, which I bought along with mine, is working on iOS 6.1 b3 & there is no problem with WiFi.
ThanksActivation requires a SIM card.
Beyond that, most activation issues are the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken.
If the device has been hacked or jailbroken, no support can be provided here and Apple will not touch the device. -
EPSON NX415: Computer cannot detect scanner at all
I just upgraded to snow leopard and bought this new printer, an Epson NX415 All-in-One printer. The printing and copying works fine, but I cannot use the scanner at all. When I finished installing the scanner driver, I immediately got this pop-up message:
"Unable to create a work folder on the current disk, therefore the work folder will be returned to the default location."
I opened up photoshop and the scanner's name was listed under the import from devices tab. However, when I clicked it the same popup window appeared again. But for some reason, Preview and Image Capture cannot detect the scanner. I then opened up Print/Fax in system prefs and saw the Epson NX415 printer listed in the printer queue. However, there was no scanner tab. Its almost like the computer doesnt know that the scanner exists.
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and upgrading all the drivers per apple and epson's instructions but to no avail. After every reinstall of the scanner driver, i get the same pop-up message i quoted above.
HALP! The printer/copier functions work beautifully. I just cannot figure out why I cant even scan.My problem has been solved by the solution on this thread:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10105981#10105981
I went to Print/Fax, Selected my printer, Printer Setup, Driver, and selected "Epson NX400" from the dropdown list. For some reason, that one unlocked the scanner. When I went to add new printers in the printer queue, i saw the Scanner icon at last -
Image Capture doesn't detect scanner
The scanner of my Epson Stylus Photo RX500 is not detected when Image Capture is launched. Is there a workaround or pref that needs to be changed?
I would like to use Image Capture instead of Epson Scan. Epson Scan doesn't work well in my experience.
Thanks for your help,

Epson scanner and image capture: blank white image
I've been trying to make an epson perfection 1670 scanner work on an iMac running 10.6.4
Since epson no longer specifically supports this model I am going to Image Capture and the epson drivers supplied by Apple. I have downloaded/installed the updated drivers twice (once via software update and once manually from apple support).
I can get image capture to recognize the scanner and perform preview and full scans.
The frustrating thing is that the image generated is completely blank; a white page. I have tried using the scanner and image capture on two other mac's (macBook pro, macBook) both running 10.6.4 and both of these produce the same white page (although they do recognize the scanner).
I thought the scanner may have finally broken so i tested it on another (old) iMac G3 running os x 10.4.11 and epson's scanning utility; it worked fine and made a nice scan.
I have tried to get epson's scanning utility to work under 10.6.4 by reinstalling it; I can get it to startup and run the scanner but it too produces a blank white image!
I conclude there is some basic software incompatibility between the drivers and os x 10.6.4. Its odd that the drivers and image capture can run the scanner but cannot send an image to the computer.
The epson driver in the latest apple update is version 5.2.5 (Copyright 2003 ???) while the latest driver on the epson site (for image capture) is 5.3. Tried to download the epson driver and got file not found (*!%#?&).
done what I can; any suggestions?I had the same problem with my Epson 1260 scanner. The "updated" drivers provided by both Apple and Epson produced the exact same result - blank white pages, or if anything showed up at all, it would be all chopped up and skewed, like it had gone through a shredder. Trying to adjust the brightness and other slider settings made no difference.
After wrestling with it for a week, I finally found a solution. First make sure Rosetta is installed. Use the old PowerPC Epson TWAIN driver from 2003; with the filename EPSON TWAIN 5.ds. Put it in the folder /Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources/.
Then, don't use Image Capture. Download Graphic Converter. Set it to open in Rosetta mode. Then you can use Graphic Converter's File -> Acquire -> TWAIN Acquire... menu command to scan using the old EPSON TWAIN driver. -
Problems with Image Capture for Epson Scanner
When using image capture for my Epson scanner, at the Image Correction, when I select Manual I get no menu options.
There is no Epson scanner utility for Mountain Lion, it appears. Even Epson's FAQ defers to Image Capture and says it only provides software for image modification.
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&info Type=FAQ&oid=207953&foid=214278&cat=214269&subcat=214264
Unfortunately Image Capture completely fails to provide the service it should be expected to. The 3rd party software VueScan seems like it would be adequate once I learned how to manipulate it a little more, but ultimately the only decision I can justify is to hook up the scanner to my Windows PC and use the TWAIN-based scan utility there.
If there's anywhere I can make an official plea to Apple to get Image Capture in a workable state, feel free to point the way. -
I deleted photos from my iPhone but still see them in Image Capture app
I am running iOS 8 and I have a problem with my photo library. I deleted all the photos form my phone, and went into "recently deleted" and made sure I permanently deleted them, however when I plug my phone into my Mac and look in image capture, I still see over 400 photos in there. Does anybody know if there's any way to figure out where these photos reside on my iPhone? They aren't viewable through the photos app and seem to be taking up space but are not usable.
I currently have all iCloud photo related functions turned off.Hello J-a-x,
It sounds like you are seeing photos in Image Capture that you have removed from the Photos app by deleting them from the Recently Deleted album. It seems to me that the Photos app is going to be the linchpin here so thats where I would troubleshoot. Start by closing all the apps that are running on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the iPhone:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Then see if the photos are showing anywhere in the Photos app. If so delete them once more, in the same way you had before, also removing them from Recently Deleted and see if Image Capture is detecting them or not.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the best,
Sterling
