I just wanted to back up my photos since I haven't done so since October 5th. I plugged in my iPhone and let Image Capture transfer the selected photos to the designated folder. Accidently I hit 'Import All but that's not the biggest problem. Apparently I had "Delete all after transfer" on AND 427 photos apparently "failed to transfer" as it said. I didn't think it was such a big problem, but then I noticed : what the ****.The delete all option was ON and now ALL my photos are gone, from the iPhone and NOT on the computer. Except a list of some old pictures I already have three backups and from the new ones between Oct 5 and this day I have a random selection >><!!!
So please help me! How do I get my pictures back? iPhone Data recovery? Please please help. There are so many nice memories of this month and I'm so ****** that this just happened!

If you have iCloud backup turned on or if you have recently backed up via iTunes you could restore the phone from either of those sources. Camera Roll photos are included in those backups. Be aware that doing a restore will replace the contents of the phone with the contents of the backup so you would lose anything new on the phone since the last backup. The transfer of photos from an iPhone to a Mac is an import. It is very similar to what happens when you move photos from any camera to the Mac (if you have ever done that). Instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

Did you add or change your credit card details on your iTunes account when downloading them ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

Apple's Image Capture deleted all my iPhone Videos

I found out that because I have been using Image Capture to import all my pictures and videos from my 3GS to Aperture 3, with the setting "delete after finishing import" I have actually LOST ALL THE VIDEOS I took in the last months. Including those of family I only get to see once a year.
What happens is that it does NOT import the Video to Aperture 3, yet deletes it from my iPhone.
Is there any way I can recover these lost pictures? And how can a bug this serious still be around? This is AWFUL!

I also thought of restoring my iPhone to the date I still had the video's in my Camera roll, but sadly I did not connect my Time Machine drive to my Mac in those days so no iPhone backups are available.
Please help if you can, it would make me so happy to find back these videos.

I don't post alot on these forums but when I went searching for a solution to this problem and found this, I felt compelled.
I, too, tried to use Image Capture to import into Aperture 3 after migrating from iPhoto. I used IC because it offers the very handing "Delete After Import" feature that Aperture does not. After my first import, and selecting that delete option, I closed Aperture without verifying the import. The second import session I did look to verify and discovered an empty project called Imported Project and Imported Project(1). I tried to search the entire Aperture Library, but all photos and videos of my child from those two import sessions are gone. Poof.
Apple products have had some bugs in the past, but this is the first that causes loss of important data.

Image Capture can no longer download from iPhone

For some time - I think since Yosemite upgrade, I can no longer download photos from my iPhone 5. (I do not use iCloud, and there are some other issues with iPhoto so I haven't tried. iTunes can still perform backup.)
Back when, I was using Google Picasa as main tool to download from iOS to MacOS. For some time, maybe since a certain iOS (8?) update, Picasa would simply begin a download, and spill out an error upon the simplest job - like a single picture. As such, I went back to Apple's Image Capture and found it still worked. Until recently, that is. Now, Image Capture simply starts an "Import", shows a progress bar, but makes no progress whatsoever. When I retried Picasa, Picasa does the same, i.e., the error message is no more, replaced by a no-progress progress bar.
I usually only perform import when iPhone is filling up. So this is a devastating problem. Please help.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with importing photos to your Mac. Now I am not sure what the communication problem is with Picasa, I can say that there are other alternatives to import your photos in, like using iPhoto or Image Capture. With iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled the full sized photos will be stored in iCloud, and on your iPhone you will have smaller sized photos, so you can browse and share them. This save space on your device, and you can access your photos also from the the iCloud web page. https://www.icloud.com/
But be aware, that turning on iCloud Photo Library Beta will essentially stop all easy ways to upload photos from a Mac to your iPhone. iTunes Photo sync will no longer work, and you will not be able to stream photos from a Mac to your iPhone with "My Photo Stream". Only "My Photo Stream" from the iPhone to a Mac or other devices will still work.

Is there a way to select all and delete them at one time? You have a point, but you're just helping exposing the misery a little more: I actually DO delete the emails in WebMail, very easily. Thanks, Allan. Actually, I prefer to sync my calendar via iTunes because I refresh Outlook and sync via iTunes much more frequently than I fire up VPN to get directly to exchange. But I did use your tip the other way - I turn ON Exchange Calendars to blow away my current iPhone content, then turned it back off to delete the Exchange content. That left me with an empty iPhone calendar that I could then load via iTunes sync.

I downloaded Firefox 18.0.1, had a problem with a file that wouldn't close ("something".ini), rebooted the Mac, tried to open Firefox, couldn't and had to download it again. Now, no profile.
