Image Capture didn't import photos to iPhoto and now pictures are deleted

I went to import photos from my camera like I normally do.  Image Capture opens up and I hit "import all" and always have "delete after import" checked.  The pictures imported and then it's supposed to open up iPhoto (which it did) and then import the photos into there, but it didn't.  iPhoto opened and then sat there with a blank page, nothing happened, my photos weren't uploaded and now my camera is empty and the photos are gone.  How did this happen? And how do I get my pictures back?? Please help!!

-This is iphoto '09 version 8.1.2
And what is your MacOS X version?
BUT! I used "Find Any File" demo software and it helped me find the "photos" but they weren't in iphoto, but on my mac(still not too sure where it was found.)
Do you have "Find Any File" still open?
If you click one of the found images, it will show you the path to the image files.Could you post what you are seeing then?
Does the path start with your Home folder or outside? Desrcibe exactly the the names of the nested folders.
Now my new problem is that the photos that were uploaded(or found) are tiny and pixelated. What i'm hoping is that I found a cheap version of the photos that were uploaded or something,
Perhaps you found the thumbnails folder - if you can give us the path there, we may be able to find the matching Masters or Originals folder.

I was importing photos to iphoto and somehow lost access to my iTunes library. when i open iPhoto, it asks me to select a library, but there are no photo libraries present for me to select. I cant find my pictures and have no access to my iPhoto.

somehow lost access to my iTunes library.
What does iTunes have to do with this?   Also more specific information might be helpful.
What system and iPhoto versions are you running?
Where are you being asked to select a library?  What kind of library, iPhoto or iTunes?
What do you see when you first launch iPhoto?

  • How do I find lost photos after Image Capture failed to import them to iPhoto?

im having this problem exactly .... http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20101215095521610
i chose to delete after import, like a wise guy, thinking nothing was going to happen and now my photos are not in my iPhoto libary... ive gone through all my images and i cant find them...
i used image capture to put all my photos into iphoto from my iphone 4 before i bought my 4S and i didnt back anything up, thinking i was fine...
when i went to iphoto they werent there, so i tried to quit iphoto and, as i did, it said my library was updating about 300+ photos, so i was like 'oh all i needed to do was restart iphoto'... but it was still a no-go, they still werent there...
i restarted my computer, looked at other peoples answers, and i just cant find them in any folder or anywhere....... and i cant find the folder from the link i posted... very tired and fustrated. i need help please : (

    I don't think it can be done from within iPhoto but there's a way you can do it from outside. First download and launch QPict. Then do the following;
1 - open your iPhoto Library folder and type Command-F.
2 - in the search window create these two search criteria:
    a - Kind is Folder
    b - Name contains Original
3 - In the search results window click on the size column to separate the empty folders from those with files in them.
4 - select all of the folder that are not empty and drag into the open window of QPict.
That will open the original files in QPict so you can view them there and compare to those in iPhoto. Just remember do not move any of those folders out of the iPhoto Library folder. Just move them into the open window of QPict.

  • Custom Image Capture that Auto Imports the OS WIM and Creates a New Task Sequence

We just finished a consulting project where our customer requested an easy solution to capture thick images.  After hearing their reasoning it made sense for their circumstances.  The people that
will be managing the system will be non-technical and all they wanted was a very, very simple method of capturing and deploying images with no learning curve.   They wanted the ability to Deploy the images via PXE.
This quickly became both our easiest scope project but making MDT simple for non-technical users can be challenging.   The MDT capture and staging steps are pretty easy for tech savvy person but for non-technical people it presented a learning
curve that the customer wanted simplified. They didn’t want to understand sysprep, capture, importing an OS and then creating a Task Sequence to reference that new image.
So we changed the scope of our project to automate MDT to perform additional steps following the capture that would:
Automatically Import the Captured OS into the MDT Deployment Share
Automatically Create a new Task Sequence that references the newly imported image
Auto Name the Task Sequence with the Model Name, Date and Time of Capture
    The Final Solution:
Customer will setup a Windows PC Thick Image (All software and drivers)
The customer will Kick-off the Sysprep and Capture Task Sequence
The customized Task Sequence will capture, import the new image, and create a new TS with the new image
Customer can then PXE boot a new computer and Deploy the image or stage to media and deploy the image
We were able to remove the import OS and create new task sequence steps and this simplified it for our customer considerably.  If anyone is interested in this functionality
let me know and I can send you instructions.  We used Vbscript, Powershell and PSExec.exe from PowerShell.  It seems to being working pretty good so far

  • I imported photos to iPhoto and unplugged my phone and now they're gone?

I tried clearing up space on my iPhone my importing some old photos onto my mac in iPhoto. After erasing the ones which needed to be erased, I unplugged my iphone without ejecting it. Now there are only photos up to January 2014 on my iPhone. I lost probably 500+ new photos because of this but they have to be somewhere, they can't just be gone? I would appreciate help quickly. Thanks.

If they are not on your phone and they are not on your Mac, they are gone. Sorry.

Hi! I just uploaded thousands of photos from my ipad to my iphoto on my macbook pro and when it notified me that it uploaded successfully and asked if I wanted to delete the photos on my ipad...I stupidly deleted them. But my main problem is that I cannot find these photos ANYWHERE! I searched every event and latest import and there was no luck. It's as if they were never imported in the first place. These photos are dear to me, please help!!!

  • Unable to view photos in iPhoto, although all pictures are still accessible via Finder?

Last week, I was trying to import some pictures from a USB flash drive. During the import, I got an error that some of the pictures were corrupt and iPhoto '08 7.1.5 stopped the process. At that time, iPhoto still showed all my events and pictures correctly.
The next day however, iPhoto was completely empty and did not show any event/picture. It simply says 'no photos' at the bottom (in Dutch):
None of the rebuilding features solve the problem (iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library).
Via Finder, I'm able to access the iPhoto library (and I only see 1 library at the location) and view the master files all sorted per year. All pictures open perfectly when I double click them in preview.
If I simply try to drag these pictures to iPhoto, I get an error saying that they are unrecognised/unreadable:
How do I get these events/pictures back in iPhoto?
    Thanks for your help!

It appears you'll haver to do the following:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • HT203167 The My locked Folder app is missing! I had all of my important files in here and now they are gone where did the app go?

I had all of my important file in my locked folder and now the app is missing and it is no longer available on the App Store.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    TD

  • Managing Photos in iPhoto and Folders

So I am embarrassed. I have been deleting photos in iPhoto and ASSuming they are deleted in their 'home' folder - nope. Is there any way to force iPhoto to be a file manager and any photos that are not in the app are deleted? For the future, is there a method of deleting the photo in iPhoto that will also delete it off the computer?
    Thanks!

    No
iPhoto is a database and manages the photos in its library - deleting photos and emptying the iPhoto trash will totally delete the photo from the iPhoto library
iPhoto will not do anything with any photos outside the iPhoto library - either un-imported or imported to iPhoto using a referenced library (which is not recommended for many reasons)

  • Import Photos from IPhoto into 3rd party Photo Book Maker?

Using BookSmart from Blurb, to make a photo book, this a GREAT piece of software BTW, I need to import photos from IPhoto and can't seem to see how do it? Not sure I even can. Any help??

Assuming the program has an Import option that brings up an Open/Save/Attach file browser window, look in the left hand sidebar for Photos, under the Media heading at the bottom. It will show you your iPhoto library. Probably easiest if you first create an album in iPhoto for the photos you think you are likely to use.
Alternatively, browse the Blurb site for an FAQ and find:
    http://blurb.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/blurb.cfg/php/enduser/stdadp.php?p_faqid=74&p_sid=44cbAnHj&purl=
How do I use iPhoto pictures with BookSmart?
To view JPGs and PNGs that are stored in iPhoto, click the My iPhoto Images bar in the left content column of BookSmart. Choose which album you’d like to view via the dropdown menu, and then drag and drop the images into your book. BookSmart will only make copies of images you actually drag (or autoflow) to pages of your book.

  • My iPhone 4s is super slow to import photos into iPhoto???

As said in the title my iphone is extremely slow to import photos to iphoto and keeps importing the same photos even though they are already in iPhoto??? Whats going on?? Anyone know a fix to this??

I would expect nothing less. even importing videos from my standards camera takes a while...thats not the issue here.
importing 50 Photos can take 10 minutes with the iPhone. Meanwhile the same number of photos from a standard camera would take less than a minute.
Its either a problem with the iphone and slow transfer through the dock connector, or somethings up with how iPhoto imports from the iPhone.
