Image Capture does not recognize my CanoScan LiDE 700F after downloading pix via iPhoto.
My scanner was working fine. I downloaded some photos using iPhoto. My computer now does not recognize my scanner when I use ImageCapture. I think this happened once before but I can't remember how I remedied the situation. In researching the scanner before purchase, I discovered many reviews that indicated "don't download the software; it doesn't work: just use ImageCapture. That has worked well....until now. Any suggestions?
Try resetting the printing system. It can also affect the scanner.

Image capture does not recognize Canon Scanner
I have two Canon Scanners, a Canoscan 8800F and a Canoscan LiDE 60. Image Capture does not recognize either of these. Both worked with Mountain Lion.

Image Capture does not recognize my Canon Pixma MP150 printer since I upgraded to Mavericks.
To scan with Image Capture you need an ICA driver. Looking through the CanonDevices list in the /Library/Image Capture folder I cannot see an entry for the MP150. And I checked Canon Australia's web site and there is no ICA driver for the MP150. There is a scanner driver and MP Navigator for OS X 10.7. You may be able to install and use the driver and application on 10.9, although you will have to get past Gatekeeper to install both items as they are not digitally signed. To do this, you can hold down the Control key and click on the installer. A pop-up menu will appear and you can select Open. You will then be able to install the driver and then the application. If they do install then see if you can open MP Navigator and scan from the MP150.

Image Capture does not recognize RAW files from Panasonic Lumix G1
I'm in the process of buying a Lumix G1 camera, but while uploading images from the camera in the store via Image Capture, said app did not recognize its RAW files, only the JPEGs. It works fine with other new cameras such as Nikon D5000, etc. Any ideas?

Image Capture does not recognize scanner with latest update of Mavericks 10.9.4
Since last week (8-5-14) after updating to OS 10.9.4 (13E28) Image Capture and Printers and Scanner (in System Prefs.) do not recognize my scanner. What the hay! Yes, my scanner is elderly but like me is in perfect working condition. Until now. I've spent hours trouble shooting, i. e., downloading EPSONPrintDriver2.18.dmg and reinstalling, a waste of time. Changing usb/firewire cables, switching usb ports, deleting pref files and cussing. The Epson web site was useless it just tells me to download updates via Apple software updates. I hate the idea of being so dammed dependant on any one organization (Apple). I've been an Apple user since the Apple 2C but I do believe that will change soon.
Anyone with a solution or replacement app for Image Capture? I don't want to spend my Social Security money on VueScan which dose work for me unless I have to.Try resetting the printing system. It can also affect the scanner.

Based on this information, this is an issue isolated to the User Account #2. Recreating User Account #2 is not an option.

Thanks.I am having the identical error. I have an iPhone 4 and 2 macs, the phone is managed from an old G5 PowerMac and images are saved from it to Aperture for photos and videos go to iPhoto 11. The Mac is running 10.5.8. I last appear to have downloaded movies from iPhone4 to mac in December , the oldest video being 10 Dec 2010.
This week I was going to back up a handful of images on the phone but after connecting it to the mac, something that happens several times a week to sync to itunes for app updates etc I found it did not list for import options in iPhoto nor in Aperture. I looked at Image Capture and that tells me no device is connected.
I have no problems taking images off the phone using a MBP which has 10.6 and Image Capture recognises the phone.
I have tried the following after reading through all the discussions on the topic of which there appear to be many with this problem.
Restore the iphone then update settings from archive. - did nothing
Closed apps reconnected iPhone started apps... - did nothing
Switched phone off then on then connected to mac then opened apps - nothing
This Mac seems happy to communicate t othe phone though iTunes but appears to have lost the way when it comes to getting images off the iPhone. Any help keenly appreciated.

Can't import photos from iPhone to iPhoto. Image Capture does not launch when iPhone is connected to my iMac and iPhoto is open. There is no "Preferences" option offered to click when in Image Capture.
This helped me. It is advice I found from a user named Carlosmara. First make sure iPhoto is closed and your iPhone is not connected. Then, as Carlosmara stated in his post,
"Go to your Library/preferences and delete the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist
IPhoto should recognized the iPhone again."
The file in question is under your user folder.
I then restarted my mac and plugged in the iPhone so that it would sync. After the sync, when I opened iPhoto, my iPhone was recognized and I could download the photos perfectly.

Image Capture will not recognize my Epson Workforce 615. It would not recognize my HP 4280 either.
I can print but I cannot scan using Image Capture. Scanning through Epson scan or HPScan Pro works.
What am I doing wrong? I have searched all over the net for an answer and there does not seem to be a solution. Only other people searching for the same answer.
And no I do not want to use VueScan.

After upgrading to Lion, Image Capture does not work, even though it is intel software. Gives error 9931. What gives?
Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS. -

Sometimes the device will appear; but import is not an option to select.
EVEN if I change the parameters down on the bottom left to Image Capture, iPhoto, etc.
Usually, my phone will appear on the left hand side and I am able to click Import.
However; this time NOTHING happens.

It sounds like there is an issue importing photos with multiple devices and applications on your Mac. The article linked below provides a lot of great tips that may resolve the issue, like taking a screenshot to ensure there is a new photo to be imported since the previous import.

Image Capture does not have a 'Devices' option
I have a new scanner and I installed the drivers. It's showing fine in Photoshop CS3 but the window for it is awkward and small and barely has any features to it (there is no selection to for Advanced either). I figured I should try to use Image Capture instead, hoping to have better luck and more features. However Image Capture is not allowing me to go to 'Devices > Browse Devices' because there is no 'Devices' menu listed at all. I've restarted, unplugged things, plugged devices back in. It just says 'No Camera or Scanner Selected' ... the Command B is not even working either.
Has anyone ever had this happen, should I try reinstalling Image Capture?As for the scanner - so is this new one wireless? When I hooked up my Epson All-in-One, I had to install it via USB first before I could install the wireless (per their instructions). With Snow Leopard, I simply installed the driver and it covered and recognized both the print and scan function - not so in Lion; I had to go through hoops with the scanner part and it finally showed up as a separate unit. I thought that is silly, but - as long as it works..... I'm trying to think of possibilities since I'm about out of ideas, so you might want to consider that (if it applies). The other troubleshooting suggestions usually include redoing the "add" function after a reboot.
As for Image Capture, I am out of ideas. FWIW, I never use it - in my workflow, there is no need for it. Not sure if this would have an impact, but make sure that you choose Image Capture in the CDs&DVDs Preference Pane (mine is set to ignore or ask purposely):

Website does not recognize my email or password when signing in via firefox
When I try to sign onto a specific website, it does not recognize my email address or password. This only happens when I sign in through Firefox. How do I correct this?
Some sites use JavaScript to copy the name and password to another (hidden) field or use separate hint input fields for the name and password that can make Firefox store the wrong data (the password field and the input field with the Password hint text). In such a case there probably is nothing that you can do as Firefox may overwrite the name and password stored by the password editor extension immediately on the next visit.

Since I upgraded to Yosemite, Image Capture does not combine pages in to one PDF document
Ever since I upgraded my OS to Yosemite, in my Intel iMac, I have not been able to combine the scanned multiple pages of a document into one PDF file using Image Capture, even though the option to combine pages is checked off. It makes multiple PDF files of these pages. Furthermore, I have even tried to use Preview to combine these individual pages into one document and save it into one file but it will only save one page. Is anyone else having the same problem? If so has anyone found a solution to this problem? Please help. It was wonderful to be able to do this in Maverick. Thanks.

10.8 System Image Utility does not recognize anything 10.7 or below
I just installed Mountain Lion server and was excited to start using system restore to make images of some Lion Minis we have. However, SIU 10.8 does not seem to recognize a 10.7 volume. I tried booting the machine I planned to image in target disk mode and I tried making an image using disk utility and mounting it. Neither worked. Can someone please confirm or deny whether this works. If 10.8 Server SIU does not support older verisons (If you can really call Lion that much older for **** sake). It willbe infuriating to me if this can't be done because this would just be another example of Apple taking a good idea and just royally tanking on the execution side.
I did go ahead and install Server Admin tools on one of the other Lion minis and am making a Netrestore image of the master mini as we speak; so far so good. But I am skeptical of whether my Mountain Lion Server will even accept and deploy this image considering my less than stellar experience so far.
Any thoughts, suggestions, shared frustrations are all appreciated.SIU has never supported anything but the OS that it comes on. So you need Server running on Mountain Lion to build Mountain Lion images, and Server running on Lion to build Lion images - etc for Snow Leopard, and Leopard, and Tiger...
