Image Capture - Doesn't Launch Mail

Been using Image Capture for ever.... Always just works. Now it doesn't. Not much hood to get under.
Set source: flatbed or Doc feed. pick .PDF Set Scan to: Mail - hit scan and the scanner scans.... but nothing happens. It used to open a new massage in Mail. Now nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Image Capture doesn't recognize iPhone and Camera anymore

Image Capture doesn't recognize my iPhone or my Fujifilm camera. I am pretty sure this happened after updating to Safari 4.0.2 and having to restart which I did today. Yesterday I was able to to browse through my devices.

I'm adding that iTunes has no problem reading the iPhone.

  • Image Capture won't launch

I went to try to turn OFF the iPhoto auto launching feature today and Image Capture will not launch.
The 184k app is right there in my Apps folder, but nothing.
Any clues other than a system restore?
I've never looked, but is there a custom incremental restore that allow me to grab just that app off the original system disks? (if needed)

Did you read this part of the article
If you’d like to reinstall applications that aren’t offered in the Custom Install screen—applications in the Utilities folder, for example—you can use Charles Srstka’s $20 Pacifist. It works this way:
Insert your Mac OS X Installer disc. Download Pacifist and launch it. In the window that appears click the Open Apple Install Discs button. A window will appear offering you the single choice to look at the OSInstall package. Click OK.
Pacifist will churn away for a bit and then you’ll see a window titled OSInstall.mpkg. In this window you can dig down through the hierarchy of folders to find what you seek or you can enter the name of what you’re after in the Find field and press Return. A drawer appears that lists the names of matching files.
To install an item click the Install button in the upper-left corner of the window. You’ll be prompted for your administrator’s password. Enter it, click OK, and the item will be installed into its proper location on your Mac’s hard drive.
There is no preference for Image Capture in iPhoto v5.
Sorry - my error - in iPhoto 5 that preference is in image capture to select image capture, iPhoto or no application - so you can't deal with that until you restore image capture

  • Image Capture doesn't recognize my Built-in iSight Camera

I'm trying to use Image Capture but when I open the application is shows the following message:
    "No scanner or camera connected".
It's supposed the camera is connected because I'm also using Skype video call (not at the same time I'm trying to use Image Capture) and there's no problem with it.
Image Capture was working perfectly couple months ago, now it isn't.
Does somebody know what the problem might be?
Thanks for your comments and opinions.
    Sebastian.

image capture doesn't use the isight, it's for other digital cameras & scanners. use the screen capture ability. hold, command shift, press 4 & tap spacebar to see a camera icon. click on an open / active window when it's lighted in blue, click the mouse. saves the pic as a png on your desktop.

  • Image Capture doesn't recognize my Canon device camera (it has before). I made a copy of the Image Capture app by mistake.  What do I do?

My Macbook doesn't have iPhoto installed. ??  I don't know why, because it used to be installed.
I have been able to download photos from my camera using Image Capture, but now Image Capture doesn't show my camera in the Devices window.  It did yesterday.
Ideally, I would like to install iPhoto again, but how do I do it without having to purchase the app again?
    This might also be relevant:
I wanted to add an Image Capture icon to my dock, but I inadvertently made a copy of the app (called Image Capture copy).  When I tried to erase the copy, I couldn't.  Image Capture copy is in my Trash and the Image Capture app is in my Applications folder.  I tried opening the app from both the Trash version and the app version, but it doesn't help.
    Please help!

Use the disks that came with your Mac to do a custom install of the software you need, i.e. iPhoto.  The disk should look like #4 in this screenshot:

It's generally recommended not to use a USB hub with the iPhone. I've used one with no problems but many have reported solving sync problems just by eliminating the hub and plugging directly into a USB2.0 port.
    I'm sure.
The trouble is that there are too many bits of hardware that are recommended not to use a hub with. I have a PhoneValet (which won't work at all with a hub) and a set of first generation Harman-Kardon speakers (ditto). Then I need a USB port to plug the hub itself into, and that's my three USB ports used up.

  • TS1501 Image Capture does not launch when I connect my iPhone to my iMac and open iPhoto. No "Prefernces" is offered under Image Capture.  I cannot import photos to iPhoto.

Can't import photos from iPhone to iPhoto.  Image Capture does not launch when iPhone is connected to my iMac and iPhoto is open.  There is no "Preferences" option offered to click when in Image Capture.

This helped me. It is advice I found from a user named Carlosmara. First make sure iPhoto is closed and your iPhone is not connected. Then, as Carlosmara stated in his post,
"Go to your Library/preferences and delete the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist
IPhoto should recognized the iPhone again."
The file in question is under your user folder.
I then restarted my mac and plugged in the iPhone so that it would sync. After the sync, when I opened iPhoto, my iPhone was recognized and I could download the photos perfectly.
Hopefully this will help you as it helped me

  • Image Capture doesn't recognize SD card

In Tiger I would pop in my SD card into a reader in my pcmcia slot and image capture would read it as a device and I could then use it to embed color profiles etc. as it downloaded to the correct folder.
Leopard's Image Capture won't recognize the card as a device. It will mount and I can pull from it like a flash drive in the finder window, but I would love to use Image Capture again.
    Anybody know what happened?

I have filed a bug report with Apple.
I spoke on the phone with an Apple Developer Connection representative and have communicated with Apple via e-mail on a couple occasions now about this issue. They have had me follow some troubleshooting procedures and send them the results.
The bug report is still considered open, so they must be working on fixing the problem. Otherwise I would think they would have close the bug report by now. Maybe we'll see a fix in 10.5.2?
Also, I noticed the following interesting phenomenon: I made a disk image of my SD card and then ejected SD card. Upon mounting the disk image of the SD card, iPhoto launched, just as it used to under Mac OS X Tiger when I inserted my SD card. Intriguing!

  • Image Capture doesn't detect scanner

The scanner of my Epson Stylus Photo RX500 is not detected when Image Capture is launched. Is there a workaround or pref that needs to be changed?
I would like to use Image Capture instead of Epson Scan. Epson Scan doesn't work well in my experience.
    Thanks for your help,
    Eaglepeak

    I installed Epson Scan again.

  • Image capture doesn't recognize iphone

    OS X 10.7.4, iphoto 11, iphone 4, ios 5.xx
-I have photos on iphone that are not in photo stream, and videos as well, that I want to download
-image capture does not recognize the iphone as a device when I launch it. It does not autostart even though I set the IMAGECAPTURE option in iPhoto preferences
    -itunes does see the phone
-iphoto does not see the phone and does not have the missing images - I cannot manually import anything from any device
-Activity monitor shows a new copy of ptpcamera each time I plug in the iPhone to the USB cable
    -restarting iPhone/iTUnes/iPhoto/Mac have no effect
Something changed with the latest iPhoto/iTunes combination

Found the resolution in another thread. Have to go to iPhoto preferences and set Image Capture to open when a camera is plugged in. Then it should auto start.

  • Image Capture doesn't recogonize camera

Up until today, iPhoto 2.01 would automatically see and import photos from my Nikon CoolPix 4800. After trying all the iPhoto fixes, rebuild library, removing preferences, etc. I even used a new interface cable, and different USB ports, but nothing. I then tried Image Capture 2.1.0 (v183) and it doesn't see the camera. This leads me to believe it's the camera, however I can connect the camera to a TV with an audio/video cable and see the photos.

    Thomas:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Some cameras have two selectable protocols for conntecting to other devices. I don't remember what they are called but check the menu's in the camera or, heaven forbid the manual-but don't let anyone see you reading it, to see if your camera has that option. If so then change to the the other one and see if that won't fix it.
Also, with the camera connected open the System Profiler (select About this Mac in the Apple menu and click the More Info button) and see it it can recognize the camera in the USB section.

  • Image Capture doesn't see my printer/scanner

    iMac 27 / OSX 10.9 (Tried updating and there aren't any available) / HP 6500 e709a printer all-in-one 9USB connected)
I went to scan something this evening, clicked Image Capture and it open but didn't show any devices or option to add one. System preferences sees the device pius an additional printer I have connected. They both print or at least did. It was suggested that I delete the 6500 and re-add it. When I do that it says there isn't any software available at this time. Ugh!
    Any thoughts? Thank you, CJOB

    Install drivers from this link:
    HP_Lion_Ink_SW_v12.13.2.dmg
Then one labelled HP from Apple:
    HP
If that doesn't work, look at Image Capture's preferences and enable TWAIN.
    If that doesn't work, try
    Vuescan
    Silverfast

  • Image Capture doesn't work over WiFi

I've got an HP Printer connected via USB to an AirPort Express. I can print to it without any problems. However, if I open the Image Capture app native to OS X it doesn't show the printer, so I can't scan documents. Is there any way to get Image Capture (or any other app which from which I can scan) to recognize the printer when it's connected via the AirPort Express?
    Thanks

Is there any way to get Image Capture (or any other app which from which I can scan) to recognize the printer when it's connected via the AirPort Express?
Sorry, but no. Printers connected to the AirPort's USB port are supported only for printing. Advanced printer functions like copying, faxing, or scanning (as in this case) are not supported.

  • Image Capture Doesn't Always Scan

I have an Epson 810 printer/scanner.  I use Image Capture on my MacBook to scan documents from it.  It's weird but most of the time it scans just fine but once in a blue moon, it will recognize the scanner in "Devices" but it will not scan the document.  If I wait a couple of days, it will be alright magically.  What could possible be causing this?  Here is what I get when it's not working:

    Some additional thoughts.
Does the Preferences have the option to open the Scanner window ticked ?
Does the Scanner appear in the Browse Menu when you Browse for Devices ?
My Epson CX6400 which is of some age now does not show Scanner Ablities in th System Profiler for OS X 10.5.8
The Printer part uses the OS X installed Cups + Gutenprint driver.
I have also installed the Epson stuff that came on the CD which I am sure installed a Twain Driver for the scanner part.
It seems this is what the Browse info tells me is being used.
In Hard Drive/Library/Image Capture/Devices the Epson Scanner.app has been added.
In the same Image Capture folder a Twain Data Source folder is also present and the Scanner .ds file is in there.
