Image Capture shows no devices (again)

Hi,
I have a MacBook Air (2012) running Mac OS X 10.9.1, 1.8GHz Intel Core i5, with 4GB ram.
I have a Cannon MP510, it shows up on the list of printers in the System Preferences.
I had a similar problem with the previous operating system (see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5419672)
I now have a Time Capsule and I have tried connecting the printer to my laptop with USB and also via the Airport Time Capsule (both by USB).
The MP510 show up in Printers & Scanners but no Scan, and Image Capture shows no devices as being found.
I have looked at:

But they have no drivers for 10.9.1 but I did try the driver for 10.8 again.
I have made sure that the printer is in Scan mode, I have tried Scan to PC, and Scan to PDF. (There isnt a Scan to Mac)
Any ideas on how I can get my MacBook to detect that the MP510 is also a scanner so that I can use image capture (or any other free software) to get scanned images on to my Mac?

I have downloaded Cannon's MP Navigator and it says that it cannot communicate with the scanner, Scanner driver will be closed, and number 155.0.0

Might be corrupted preferences (.plist)
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.image_Capture.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.image_Capture.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac and your scanner and try scanning an image.

If you manually open iPhoto do you not see the photos?

Yu are trying to impoort photos taken by or saved to the iPod, right? If the photos were synced to the iPod then iPhot does not work.

Want to refresh Image Capture without disconnecting device

I'm using Image Capture to import iPad Screen captures to my iMac. The problem is that it "sees" only those images that were on the iPad when Image Capture started up.
In order to see subsequent images, I have to physically disconnect ("pull the plug") my iPad from my Mac. After I reconnect, Image Capture mounts the iPad anew and the the new images are visible.
Quiting Image Capture and relaunching it does not have the same effect, so it is obviously some OS function that is mounting/unmounting the iPad device.
Is there any OSX command that will do what I want (I'm comfortable using Terminal). I guess it would be something like mounting/ejecting a disk, but for a USB device instead.
I'd welcome info on any alternative ways of getting those new images over to my Mac for processing.

I'm having the same problem with my iphone 4 and was sure that it was possible before updating to iOS 5. I've just checked this theory using my ipod touch which is still running iOS 4 and can confirm that it's something that used to be possible - new photos taken show up immediately in Image Capture as they are taken on the iPod. I'm wondering if this change has anything to do with iCloud.
Bit annoying so I'll be very interested to see if you come up with a work around...

Images captured showing in "All" instead of "captu...

I have an N79. I recently formatted my phone and memory card. I had taken a full back up using Ovi Suite.
However when I restored the contents to the phone, the Images that I had captured and which were showing in "Captured" were not showing in the "Captured" section under photos. Neither was there anything in the "months" section. All the photos went to the "All" section. Is there any way I can restore the Images back to "captured"?
Any help would be apreciated.

I have the same problem. Also I could not back up the phone with Ovi Suite due to an internal error appearing on Ovi Suite's window when I attempted to back up (Seeing this thread made me happy because I was guessing that photos would be restored in an organized way in Months view correctly if I could back up the memory with Ovi Suite). So I connected the phone in "Mass memory" USB mode and copied all the data in a folder in my computer. After formatting the memory, I copied back all the images to the appropriate Images folder in the phone's mass memory. However, all the photos are now displayed only in "All" section. Newly captured photos go to Captured and Months views correctly but I am looking for a way to restore all my old photos taken by this phone organized in Months view. Please find a way and share it with us.

Why does image capture show my phone twice

Its almost as if an older version of the phone with less number of pictures on the camera roll, appears under the correct one. The itunes shows the one with the 14 items.
I've never seen this before until the newest update a few days ago.

Look it shows this in iphoto too!

Image Capturing With LabView 6 (again)

how can I use my digital camera or web cam to get pictures from it?
all my cameras use Twain drivers so are there any support for Twain
in LabView?

You can use your cameras that have Twain drivers with LabVIEW. Although National Instruments does not directly have any tools for Twain drivers, you can make calls to the Twain API directly or you can use a toolkit which has done this for you. Graftek has a Twain toolkit for this type of application. Also, KB 16M8P2QH discusses this issue in more detail.

Add a device to image capture

My Image capture has no device listed, neither the laptop. How do I add the laptop as a device?

A camera or SD card plugged in is a device.

IPhone 4 not recognized by Image Capture

help! so i'm trying to transfer photos i've taken with my iphone to my mac. when i open image capture, the iphone doesn't pop up as a recognizable device. tried to google the issue and to no avail... any help is appreciated! thanks

I'm no computer engineer, so I did about 3 things at once rather than 1 at a time. Thus, I don't know if it was one step or a series of steps that got things working again so I'll tell you what I did and you can take it from there.
I had the iphone 4 connected with the cable. I had image capture running. It listed the proper number of images but I couldn't see the thumbnails and when I downloaded all, the newest ones didn't download.
In image capture, I went to the devices menu and clicked "browse devices" and unchecked iphone. Then I did a hard reset of the iphone by pressing the home and power button at the same time until the apple logo appeared. Image capture said no devices were connected. After the reboot (while still plugged into the USB), image capture showed my phone and all the thumbnails correctly.
I'm guessing it was just the reboot that did the trick.

Canoscan 4400f not recognized by image capture

My imac with lion installed will not recognize my canoscan 4400f scanner. My white macbook is fine.
I have tried using Cannon software and it tells me no driver is found.

ITunes connects, but neither Image Capture, nor Bridge Photo Downloader see iPhone

Hello. When I connect my iPhone (4, running 5.1.1) to my mac (10.8.1), iTunes starts syncing (so I see the connection works in principle), but neither Adobe Bridge CS5 Photo Downloader, nor Image Capture sees the Device. Bridge says: Source – Get Photos from <None Detected>. The <Refresh List> command brings no change. In Image Capture, both the Devices and the Shared menu item remain empty, the message its main window says: No camera or scanner connected. I guess that is no unknown problem, but I somehow can't find anything on it.
I'd be greatful for any idea.

Just checked it. The settings in iPhoto are for "Connecting camera opens: iPhoto"
When I connect the phone, iPhoto will launch, but the iPhone will not show up under devices.

OS X LION Issues with Full-Screen; iPhoto, Image Capture & Mail

I'm experiencing un-Apple-like issues (bugs) with Lion in Full-Screen mode.
For example - iPhoto doesn't seem to like Full-Screen mode. If iPhoto is open and I connect a camera, for which I prefer Image Capture to retrieve my pics... Image Capture opens 'behind' the full-screen iPhoto, but I can't get to it. Image Capture shows as open on the menu bar in iPhoto's full-screen mode. If I go to the desktop (where it should be opening) Image Capture isn't 'on top' and clicking it takes me back to iPhoto full-screen
Similarly, if I get mail and return to the desktop (the only way to see the dock) and I click on the 'Mail' app icon - I am catapulted into Image Capture... or iPhoto. Returning to the Desktop to click the Mail icon from the dock... takes me to Image Capture... or iPhoto. The 3rd try takes me to the Mail.app which is usually always open and in full-screen mode.
While I'm complaining about bugs, I'd like to mention that I am fully dismayed by the loss of control in full-screen mode when using apps such as Mail or iPhoto. The Mail app opens an email to edit (such as a reply) but you can't access any other mail docs to 'cut and paste' info from. I can only click SEND or CANCEL.
What if I don't want to CANCEL? I just want to go to another email and cut a piece to paste.. I have to exit full-screen mode which allows me to open two email documents at once, then cut and paste. Essentially Mail in Full-Screen is only a reader... not a work area. I can only access the document I have open, since it greys out the Message Viewer. You can't click on the message viewer nor access any of the features of Mail.app. You can only write your email and either Cancel or Send. Where is the 'hold on a second while I go cut and paste'? I don't want to cancel.
Can't seem to use Safari since I'm constantly three-finger swiping it away. My cursor hovers over a text field and suddenly it's zooming in and locks text input. I have to iPhone-like swipe to expand to exit this inadvertent partial (very slight) zoom. Sometimes the zoom is so partial that I can't figure out what's going on until I just exit full-screen mode, close the window and start over.
Seems like I'm starting over and over and over... just to do simple things. Inadvertent zooming, inadvertent 3-finger returning to Desktop, inadvertent changing apps... ugh.
I'm willing to let go of the old and embrace the new future but so far it's been pretty uncomfortable for me to constantly monitor my overly sensitive trackpad gesturing combined with constant bugs and glitches. I'll save complaining about iPhoto's over-simplification (apparently for dummies) like the new Edit menu, Export menu, etc.. since it's more iLife than Lion related. Rate Lion: 2 out of 5 stars for ease of use & features complicated by unrefined software issues.

I'm running OSX Mountain Lion, and have verified using serveradmin status postgres that it is up and running.

Tell Image Capture to forget my iPhone

Is there any way to make Image Capture forget a device? It must have a cache since it remebers the folder where I save the photos.
I want to make it forget my iPhone (4) because it keeps deleting everything I import regardless if I uncheck the box or not. What's weird is it works fine with all our other iDevices (4S, 3, iPad, all latest iOS) and card readers, so it must be something it remebers about my phone.
It do not see anything like this in the menu. Here is the Image Capture stuff in ~/Library just in case someone can point me to the culprit.

Image Capture not working anymore

I use Image Capture to get photos off my Canon XSi. Lately, it hasn't been working. Image Capture shows 26 CR2 icons (without the camera even being plugged in), but won't show their thumbnail previews. It won't download them, and I can't delete them, either. It also won't recognize any new photos I've taken with the camera when it is plugged in. The only thing I've done recently that might have caused this is I installed a new scanner (Epson V300). I've tried deleting the Epson scanner driver, deleting Image Capture's preferences, and even deleting Image Capture and reinstalling it using Pacifist. The 26 ghost icons still haunt me. Furthermore, I still have device windows for the Epson scanner (two of them, for some reason) even though I uninstalled all the Epson stuff. Any other ideas?

Yes, I have iPhoto 9.1.5, I also used the prefs and this still is not working. The upgrade to OS X Lion broke my driver and I am not able to do transfer any pics from the camera.
I assume I will now need to buy a card reader.
