Image Capture tool buttons

Image Capture appears to be pretty messed up. None of the buttons along the bottom of the window work. Also, I have yet to enable the Toolbar items in the View menu.
It this application broken?

Do the Toolbar menu items and the toolbar buttons themselves also work if you import some images from a card reader?
This is driving me slightly nuts!

Scan button in image capture is greyed out

I have an Epson Workforce 545 connected wirelessly to my network and had been using Image Capture for scanning. When I went to use Image Capture today the "scan" button is greyed out.. I have all the newest software updates.
Using MacBook Air I get an error message w Iage Capture although printing works fine.

I found another thread suggesting drawing a box around the scan field. That seems to work.

Image Capture-Where is the take picture button?

Hey everyone. I was going to try out the "Take Picture" feature in Image Capture, but for some reason, the button is not there. Nor is it under the customize buttons option. Does it only let you put it there if you are using a supported camera? Thanks for your help.

I quite honestly can't verify this, so take it with a grain of salt. Is your situation similar to mine, where you cannot see the button at all, or is yours dimmed?
If the former, please do me a favor. I believe that the C-3000 and C-3020 are essentialy the same camera. Please open automator, select Image Capture, select Take Picture, and plug in your C-3000. Then under Camera status, it should say if it compatible or not, and you will then solve 2 problems for us. Whether the C-3000Z is compatible with Take Picture, and if your and my version of Image Capture is broken!

Encore button thumbnail image capture - then disable

Hi all
One of the good features of encore, that is most useful for inexperienced users
is the button thumbnail image/video extraction
however the facility to retain the image capture seems locked with the functional button presence on the dvd menu
have i overlooked a method of disabling of this within encore without loss of image capture, or is it a photoshop requirement

your solution seems like the most workable solution so far for video display in this button thumbnail, this does work quite effectively although the button is still present.
thanks for this, heres some further solutions/info we have
PHOTO ONLY DISPLAY after firstly setting the link of the button to the relevant imported image timeline to complete thumbnail capture choose - convert the button to an object
this effectively traps the image capture and resolves the issues of navigation and retains the auto button route.
VIDEO DISPLAY
The preview feature - render motion menus may be a good solution for the video thumbnail however it is exported in mpg and the quality may be reduced
the render motion menus facility will compile a video from the items visible at any time.
example
Hide from view all non required items in the motion background ie other buttons and text items
excluding the thumbnail button and background
then by setting the link of the button to the relevant chapter or video to complete video capture
choose - render motion menus
encore compiles a video background with the video thumb nail included and saves it in the respective project sources/menus folder named Video_Bpgc_Asf.mpg
by importing a copy of this into your project (must be a copy)
and using this as the motion background to the menu, all navigation issues and auto button routing are solved
after of course deleting or disabling the respective button from the menu and reactivating all hidden buttons and text etc.
or am i being lazy and trying to avoid a jump to another software to do this ?

"Scan" button grayed out in Image Capture.app

Two days ago my scanner was working fine with Image Capture. Just now when I tried to scan again, Image Capture sees the scanner and does the "Overview" scan just fine, however when I go to do the actual scan, the SCAN button is grayed out and I can't scan my documents. Does anyone know what might be going on?
20" Intel Core 2 Duo iMac Mac OS X (10.4.9) 2GB RAM, 256 Graphics card

I reselected the scanner and that seemed to do the trick.

Can you change the default image capture program in RH8?

Can you change the default image capture program in RH8? I have used Snagit for sooo many years and I would like to use it by clicking the Caputre button. I know how to change it to edit pictures with Snagit (Tools > Options > Associations), but not to capture.

Looks like a feature request.

Image Capture downloads pictures and creates .aae file

Using Image Capture 6.6 to download pictures from my iPhone 5S to Macbook Air w/ OSX Yosemite.
When I go to the folder where I download the files on my computer, it shows a .JPG file and an .AAE file.
I cannot find preferences for Image Capture to turn the additional download off.
It is doubling file size storage on my computer as each picture has a .JPG @ 600KB and an .AAE @ 600K
I have bulk deleted the .AAE files using Spotlight and searching the file type, but do not wish to continue doing this if there is way to turn this off.

Until a better idea comes along use a card-reader to put the files into a folder, then load them into Apex as a second step. This is not as conveneint as loading directly from the camera, but if the interface won't work you'll have to do somethiing else.
I don't have immediate access to Apex - can you load off a card-reader instead of the camera by specifying the drive to load the files from?
It sounds like more of a Windows problem than Apex. Have you tried browser searches on Logitech and Twain to see if anyone has encountered similar problems?

Unable to delete photos from iPad with Image Capture or PhoneView

I recently downloaded about 50GB of photos to my iPad. They are RAW+JPG. Some of the RAWs are from a new camera that does not have RAW support on the Mac yet.
Using Image Capture I downloaded all the photos to my Mac. They all have the green check-mark next to them indicating they have been downloaded.
After confirming that the images transferred without becoming corrupted, I went back to Image Capture and selected all, then hit the Delete button. I confirmed that I really want to delete them all permanently.
Then a little floating window appears that says "Deleting..." and it stays like that for a long time. Eventually Image Capture simply loses its connection with the Mac and simply leaves this console message:
5/22/12 10:58:38.494 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.503: ([0x0-0x91091].com.apple.PTPCamera[9744]) Exited with code: 255
Back on the iPad, I see that some of the JPEG-format photos have been deleted while the RAWs that went with them are still there. Meanwhile for many others, both the RAW & JPEG both still remain.
Any ideas what might cause this? Is it because the Mac doesn't yet have support for the RAW file and therefore doesn't recognize it as an "image" file?

hello apple guys, after installing OS X Mavericks, i can't open app store, reminders, contacts, mail(crash), maps, Image Capture, and other apps that comes with Mavericks OS, how i can solve this problem?

So is this the way Apple works now? Not solving customers problems? I'm sure so many users have had this problem. I've had, and I reinstalled Mavericks 3 times. Works fine for some days and then several Apple Apps stop working. Is that a way to force us ti update to Yosemite? (I don't want to) and then pay to update some third party programs (i.e. Pro Tools). Also, there are so many 15" MacBooks Pro with graphic problems and of course the guys at the Apple Service Centers always say: "It's the logic board, you can have it replaced, but it's so expensive I would recommend a new Mac". I really, really miss Steve Jobs!

How to automatically crop images in Image Capture for import into iPhoto?

On my PowerBook G4 / Mac OS X 10.4.2, I'm using the Image Capture 3.0.3 application to capture images coming from scanning photographs with a CanoScan 8400F.
Can I get the Image Capture application to automatically set the crop frame on the overview? Other applications do that, but with Image Capture it seems that after I do the Overview (preview), I have to manually set the crop frame by clicking and dragging, before I can click the Scan button to do the scan?
P.S. It seems that iPhoto does not handle scanning, and you do have to use a different application to scan photos before importing them into iPhoto.

If you hide the details pane Image Capture will scan immediately to a specified folder. Other way is to open printers and faxing from the system preferences , select the scanning tab of your printer and click Open scanner. It will start scanning immediately without opening Image Capture. To set other software as default you should open Image Capture, select your printer/scanner and click the scanner buttons. It will then let you chose which program should be launched when you scan a document.

IPhone 4 not recognized by Image Capture

help! so i'm trying to transfer photos i've taken with my iphone to my mac. when i open image capture, the iphone doesn't pop up as a recognizable device. tried to google the issue and to no avail... any help is appreciated! thanks

I had the same issue and when I searched for a solution, all I found was your question. So I messed around a bit and got it working.
I'm no computer engineer, so I did about 3 things at once rather than 1 at a time. Thus, I don't know if it was one step or a series of steps that got things working again so I'll tell you what I did and you can take it from there.
I had the iphone 4 connected with the cable. I had image capture running. It listed the proper number of images but I couldn't see the thumbnails and when I downloaded all, the newest ones didn't download.
In image capture, I went to the devices menu and clicked "browse devices" and unchecked iphone. Then I did a hard reset of the iphone by pressing the home and power button at the same time until the apple logo appeared. Image capture said no devices were connected. After the reboot (while still plugged into the USB), image capture showed my phone and all the thumbnails correctly.
I'm guessing it was just the reboot that did the trick.

Why can I no longer import EDITED photo from my iPad to my Mac using Image Capture? This is farcical and a real problem having to email them individually to myself and is totally inefficient time wise compared to previously using image capture! Why change this when it was working well and very quickly until the latest change. Now I have to move files from downloads into an appropriate folder, after emailing each individual edited image to myself, then I have to open in Photoshop and rename the file. This is ludicrous and takes forever to do!

Thank you! I suppected it would be in the settings somewhere. I' ve much to learn...get myself into trouble pushing buttons I don't really understand.

Image Capture can no longer download from iPhone

For some time - I think since Yosemite upgrade, I can no longer download photos from my iPhone 5. (I do not use iCloud, and there are some other issues with iPhoto so I haven't tried. iTunes can still perform backup.)
Back when, I was using Google Picasa as main tool to download from iOS to MacOS. For some time, maybe since a certain iOS (8?) update, Picasa would simply begin a download, and spill out an error upon the simplest job - like a single picture. As such, I went back to Apple's Image Capture and found it still worked. Until recently, that is. Now, Image Capture simply starts an "Import", shows a progress bar, but makes no progress whatsoever. When I retried Picasa, Picasa does the same, i.e., the error message is no more, replaced by a no-progress progress bar.
I usually only perform import when iPhone is filling up. So this is a devastating problem. Please help.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with importing photos to your Mac. Now I am not sure what the communication problem is with Picasa, I can say that there are other alternatives to import your photos in, like using iPhoto or Image Capture. Canoscan 4400f not recognized by image capture

My imac with lion installed will not recognize my canoscan 4400f scanner. My white macbook is fine.
I have tried using Cannon software and it tells me no driver is found.

Epson Photo RX600 no longer recognized by Image Capture but still prints

Recently my Epson Photo RX600 disappeared from Image Capture (in between doing an overview and final scan) and I can no longer seem to find/assign it. I am still able to print to the device through my Mac and to scan/copy using the buttons on the device, but no luck on scanning through the Mac. Any advice?

If nothing has been changed on the computer itself, you may want to re-install the ICA scanner driver and restart. If this does not work and the RX600 is connected directly to your Mac USB port, we would recommend contacting tech support to more quickly determine the issue as there are variables involved.
