Image Capturing With LabView 6 (again)

how can I use my digital camera or web cam to get pictures from it?
all my cameras use Twain drivers so are there any support for Twain
in LabView?
My cameras are:

Michal,
You can use your cameras that have Twain drivers with LabVIEW. Although National Instruments does not directly have any tools for Twain drivers, you can make calls to the Twain API directly or you can use a toolkit which has done this for you. Graftek has a Twain toolkit for this type of application. Also, KB 16M8P2QH discusses this issue in more detail.

  • Issue with Image Capture with Lion

I have a Lion.   My camera is a Nikon D700
    I have Lightroom 3 and Lightroom 4
Recently downloaded Lightroom 4.1 connected my memory card reader to upload photos .  Lightroom 3 opens and not Lightroom 4  to import the photos.
Checked Image capture application  to change preferences - there is no preferences in image capture (Lion)  My scanner is the only device that is shown.
Please advise how I change for image capture to  open the correct Lightroom version.

    Hi Frank
I have a Lexar card reader - being using it for years no problem -
I have again gone into image capture have notice the camera import process.  I never had previously hat to worry about Image capture as my photo import ran smoothly with Lightroom 3 opening up automatically.
In Image capture there are options to where the photos need to be imported to.  Only iPhoto option provided no Lightroom - Under "other" I typed in Lightroom 4.
However, the import process began without Lightroom 4 opening and the photos started to be imported in to the pictures folder ( this I do not want to happen) as I want Lightroom 4 to open .
However, there is no option to change  from pictures folder - there is no option for Lightroom 4 , were it says "other: can I change to Lightroom 4?
As Lightroom option is not given , I chose "other" and inserted Lightroom 4 .  When attaching  my card reader , Lightroom 4 did not open to import only the pictures folder.  Please confirm that I need to change to import to Lightroom 4 instead of the pictures folder.  _
If this is so must I change the option from other to Lightroom 4 , even though I have already indicated " connecting this camera to.......  see attachment.
Also I see there is an option to tick " delete after import"  must this be checked?
    See attachment
I have not attached the screen shot as in the reply window there is no option to do this

  • How can I make a projection of an image (diaporama) with LabView?

Hi, I would like to project an image (or better a matrix stored in a table) on a second screen (or videoprojector, or whatever) connected to the computer. In two words I would like to do what PowerPoint does by pressing on "diaporama".
Does somebody knows if that is possible with LabView (without scrolling the LabView window on the second screen since that doesn't make a FULL SCREEN projection of the image)?
    Hope somebody can help
    Thanks
    TonyMontana

    Tony,
I am not sure I understand exactly what you are trying to do as I never use PowerPoint.
At NIWeek in 1999 (if I recall correctly) David Moore gave a presentation that used a program he wrote entirely in LV.
I have a program which runs a slide show on a second monitor (projector). All the controls are on the main screen and the display on the second monitor consists of a simple subVI with a picture indicator sized to fit the projector window. The subVI keeps its front panel open and gets called every time the image updates.
This is a work in progress and has not yet been used in public.

  • IMac applications see my iPhone 5s but cannot display the photos.  Last week I was using Image Capture with no problem.

I have an iMac 10.8.4 and an iPhone 5s. I recently downloaded 110 photos and 10 very short videos using Image Capture v.6.2.  I plugged the phone into the iMac, all of the photos appeared in Image Capture, I selected all and sent them along to a folder on an external hd.
However, this week, attempting the same procedure, I get nothing.  Image Capture sees my phone but does not display any photos, just a big blank window.  Same response from iPhoto, Aperture, and Lightroom; they all recognize the phone but none of the photos appear.  Insight would be appreciated!  Thanks.

    Hello WellShoot,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with importing photos from your Camera Roll using Image Capture.  You have taken some really good steps already to troubleshoot this issue.  The article below has a few additional troubleshooting steps you can take:

  • Problem:Image capture with Nokia 6020

    Hi,
i want an idea about the issue of "Image Capture" from midlet.
I tried my image capture application with SonyEricsson W550 it is working fine, and
I tried the same appliaction with[b] i-mate SP3(Windows CE mobile)and with Nokia 6020 ("Both are MIDp2.0 support "), the application not even loaded and the exception as javax.microedition.media.MediaException
one more thing the value of System.getProperty("video.snapshot.encodings"); become null.
Please tell me what are all the mobiles will support the ImageCapture from Midlet.
    some exact (supporting)mobile models please...
    Thankyou,

    Hi,
The sun article says 3650 will support the MMApi options even its MIDP 1.0, then what about MIDP 2.0 devices(6020).
Somebody said even some devices may MIDP2.0, but it may not be the complete implementation device.
What is mean that .... like either supporting only audio ???

  • Using Image Capture with Epson NX420 in 10.5.8

I have not gotten around to updating my computer to Snow Leopard. My computer usually have two users with fast user switch. Usually the other user tend to have Photoshop open, so I can't use Photoshop(stupid licensing issue even though it is on th SAME computer!) in my account when I need to scan something. So I use Image Capture. I just bought new printer, Epson NX420 using Wifi.
I can't seem to get Image Capture to use the scanner wirelessly unless I use Epson's own Scan softare. I am pretty partial to the Image Capture cuz it's alot faster.
Anyway, my point is is there a way that I can get Image Capture to work with the NX420 on 10.5.8 without spending more money?

I was having this same problem, too. My MacBook Pro w/ Lion could no longer communicate with my Epson Stylus NX420, which seemed to happen randomly as the printer was working fine before.
I finally searched for the solution and found it! After downloading and installing the latest drivers on my Mac, it is now able to communicate with the printer and prints just fine.
    Hope this helps.

  • Using Image Capture with HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g

The printer/scanner shows up twice under the device list in Image Capture.  Select either and I get an error message, "Scanner Session Fails to Open".  The Officejet Pro works ok as a printer.  It is connected to my Mac Desk Pro and to a MacBook Pro, both OS X 10.6.8, via an ethernet hub.  This problem developed recently, I had no problem using the scanner in the past.

    Hello srschoo,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue when it comes to scanning.
I also see that you have attempted to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
One other step that we can try is to go through the steps that are listed in the following document.  " A 'No Scan Options' or 'Scan settings are not set' Message Displays for HP All-in-One Printers When..."
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • Image capturing with ni1409 and Jai CV-A1

I am using NI IMAQ 2.5 version.
I have done the procedures for interfacing Jai A1 camera with IMAQ 1409.
    1. Download and install the camera control utility from the JAI Web site.
    2. Launch the JAI A1 control utility, and click Start>>Programs>>CV-A1 Control Tool>>CV-A1 Control Tool.
    3. Click the Shutter and Sync Signals button.
    4. Set the Pixel Clock Out radio button to On to output the pixel clock.
    Configuration Files
    1. Copy the JAI CV-A1(1409).icd file into the \Data folder. Go to ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/imaq/camera_support/
camera_files/analog/jai/ to download this camera configuration file.
    2. Launch Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
    3. Expand the Devices and Interfaces branch of the tree view.
    4. Expand the IMAQ PCI/PXI-1409 branch of the tree view.
    5. Right-click Channel 0: RS-170, and select Camera>>JAI>>JAI CV-A1.
    6. Click Save.
When we are using the software for JAI A1, Camera control Tool interface(downloaded from JAI web site), the About window and Camera control window shows red color bar at the bottom and Communication window shows status in red color i.e. offline. I have tried to connect the camera control tool with JAI camera using the Communication window by clicking “auto” button. It is showing “no camera found”.
I have tried with both types of wire viz. BNC and NI. But the results are same.
The picture error.jpg shows the different windows those I have opened.
The window “Acquisition Error” arises when I have tried to grab the frame using NI Measurement & automation software. Rests are for Camera Control Tool software for CV-A1.

  • Canon PIXMA 860 and 560 not recognized by Image Capture

I can scan from the printers to my MacBook. And I go to System Prefernces / Printers and Faxes and both are shown as printers and as scanners. I can open from their and scan but when I open image capture it doesn't find any scanners.
I down loaded and installed both the newest canon printer and scanner drivers as well as the newest ICA driver. Still they are not recognized.
    What am I missing?

    ATC7 wrote:
Just for testing purposes, I removed the canon printer, removed all canon software and updates from my system and then used the original CD that came with my 870 to reinstall the printer and lo and behold, Image Capture started working again for wireless scanning.
Hello and thanks for the feedback.
There are two scanner drivers available for many of the new models of Canon AIOs. There is the ICA driver and the Canon scanner driver.
During my tests on clean builds of 10.6.x I found that my Canon AIOs were able to print and scan via wireless by simply installing the Canon update provided by Apple. This update consisted of the then latest printer driver for many models of Canon AIO and inkjet and the ICA driver. Canon's scanner driver was not included as part of this download from Apple.
The ICA driver is installed in HD > Library > Image Capture > Devices and the package is called Canon IJScanner1. Later versions of the ICA driver also installed another package, Canon IJScanner2. These ICA drivers provide a minimal amount of scanning selections and only appear to work with Image Capture and Preview. Other applications like Canon's own MP Navigator and Adobe Acrobat Pro will not scan with just the ICA driver installed. The Canon scanner driver for the respective model is required.
From what you have said and from my own testing I propose that the original CD did not contain the ICA driver but the Canon scanner driver for the MX870. And with only this driver installed you were able to scan using Image Capture via the wireless. I don't recall ever testing a 10.6 build where only the Canon scanner driver was installed and not the ICA driver (it is present by default on 10.6 but only has older models of Canon AIO's - your MX870 is not there). Had I tested this I believe that I would have been able to scan via wireless using Image Capture.
I also propose that once you installed the Canon v2.4.1 update, which contains a version of the ICA driver package that is also available from Canon web sites, then Image Capture stopped using the Canon MX870 scanner driver and used the ICA driver instead, thus stopping you from wireless scanning.
Right now I am using a new build of 10.6.6 on my MBPro. So that I could print to my MP990 at home and an MG6150 at work I simply installed the v2.4.1 update and have printer and scanner queues in Print & Fax for both. I have not installed scanner drivers for either device and at home with my MP990 Image Capture does not show any device being available, while Preview does show the MP990 once I select 'Import from Scanner > Include Networked Devices'. Also, Acrobat Pro 9 does not show my MP990 being available.
And with regards to the v2.4.1 update, the drivers included are provided by Canon to Apple, just as the other vendor drivers are provided to Apple, to make life easier for us Mac users. The drivers are available individually and get downloaded and installed automatically when the respective model is connected to the Mac and no local driver is present. As for the package including all these individual vendor drivers, this would be created by Apple.

  • Image capture bug

I'm using Image Capture with a Canon S400. Image Capture was set to download all photos automatically and delete after.
I've never had much luck with this approach. Unfortunately I'm a slow learner and only now have vowed never to use the app again. Basically, it downloads the first couple photos okay and then speeds through the rest of the photos at light speed (clearly, something has went wrong.) Indeed, the rest of the photos cannot be read by any application- they are invalid JPEG files even though they are about the right size. And they've been removed from the card and are gone forever. I'm using the factory USB cable from the camera the the keyboard USB port. Hardware is either a MacBook or intel iMac. Both have the same problem.
What gives? One might be inclined to point to the camera or CF card but in fact both are fine. I can use a CF card reader fine with my iMac, and everything also works great with my Windows XP box.
At the absolute least, Image Capture should be updated to NOT delete photos from the camera unless the resulting JPEG passes some type of minimal validity check. OS X is instantly aware of the fact that the image files are corrupted (no thumbnail can be generated) so it shouldn't be that difficult.
Sigh. I'm really starting to long for the stability of my iBook. I defended Apple as long as I could but with the MacBook in for repairs right now and various stability issues running OS X on the Intel platform, I realize now that there really are some serious issues right now.

I'm having a similar bug on an eMac with the same camera (plus an Olympus E-300). Yes, dragging the jpegs off the card works, but you lose the thumbnails that Image Capture creates. I've researched previous questions here, and believe I've found all the preference files (that I have trashed several times over). No luck - I keep having this problem.
I really don't want to give up on Image Capture, since it retrieves camera information, too. But this is really an irritating bug!
    Any suggestions..?

  • Image Capture & ICC profiles

Is it possible to use Image Capture with my scanner and have it embed something other than the sRGB colour profile when scanning colour photographs? I'd like it to embed AdobeRGB instead. In most other respects I prefer it for scanning photos to Epson Scan and VueScan.

    Hi G-Man,
It's probably something in the Preferences folder; Users/herusername/Library/Preferences. Start by removing com.apple.ImageCaptureApp.plist and trying again. If that doesn't do it drag the entire Preference folder to the desktop, log out and back in. Launch it again and if it works you can either reset preferences for all System Preferences and apps or drag the preferences files a group at a time back to the new Preference folder in Library and test Image Capture each time. That way you can narrow it down to the one offending preference file.

  • Where are temporary files created for "image capture"?

    Hi all
I have been using image capture with no problem whatsoever, until recently. I was scanning a big file and while it was saving it or something I closed the lid of the computer and interrupted the scan. Now the scanner can do a preview but is no longer able to "scan" the file that i see perfectly through preview. I think that the problem is that there is a corrupt temporary file somewhere that needs to be manually deleted. If you know where such files are stored or if you have a better idea, please let me know.

You may be on to the correct solution. I've seen this problem with a big printing job that a user had to cancel and then had to "go in" and delete the print job before they could print again. On the Mac, there is something called CUPS (something Unix Printing System) and it has a role in printing and I believe faxing. It "might" play a role in scanning through Image Capture but I'm not sure. Anyway give it a look and see if there is an incomplete scan job in there that you can delete.
Note: this looks like a website URL but it leads to CUPS on your Mac.
    http://127.0.0.1:631/jobs/
This may not be applicable to scanners but it's worth a look.

  • Controlling Hamamatsu Camera with LabVIEW

I am using a Hamamatsu 1394 ORCA-ERA Camera in order to save microscope images on a PC. Im my lab, we are attempting to automate the process of saving an image from this microscope, and coordinate the time of the image capture with a function performed with LabVIEW.
As the 1394 name implies, this camera is connected to our PC using a firewire port. Is it possible to control the function of this camera with LabVIEW through a firewire port? What additional LabVIEW libraries would I need in order to perform this task, if any? Finally, is it possible to use LabVIEW to control a program called micro-manager that we currently use to save images? I know the Hamamatsu API supports both programs, but I am not sure if cross-communication between them is supported.
Thank you for reading, any response is greatly appreciated.

You say the API supports LabVIEW.  Does it have any example code for you to start with?  Typically driver sets include examples to make it easier to work with their API.
If it works with that API, I'd see if you can get that to work with taking the images without using the second program.  You can typically use something like system exec on a Windows machine to run programs.  I'm not sure of anything that works similarly for a Mac.  Does micro-manager have an API you can use to make calls to it?

  • Image Capture, twain sane interface, and Snow Leopard compatibility?

I have downloaded and installed Mattius Ellert's twain sane interface in order to be able to use an old scanner. In order to use it with Image Capture, Ellert's FAQ page describes a procedure for selecting the twain sane interface GUI over the native GUI. However this procedure fails in Snow Leopard; I seem to have no choice but to run the native GUI, with extremely limited functionality. The twain sane interface GUI is still there and still works; it is what comes up if I scan from Microsoft Word or Graphic Convertor. But I would like it to work with Image Capture and related Apple software (preview and the print/fax control panel). Does anyone know of a procedure to do so?
Also does anyone know where this GUI actually lives on the computer? I examined the installed file locations specified in twain-sane interface's bom file, and just found a bunch of .strings and plist files in Image Capture/TWAIN Data Source/Sane.ds/Contents/Resources, plus one file under ....Sne.ds/Contents/MacOS called SANE.

    Ronald,
The reason you are not seeing this device in Image Capture after installing the TWAIN/SANE stuff is because Apple removed the TWAIN interfaces from Image Capture in Snow Leopard. TWAIN is being deprecated on the Mac. What someone needs to do is develop an ICA/SANE bridge and then Image Capture would work again.
    Just trying to help.

  • How do i get mavericks image capture to see a networked scanner?

we have a networked scanner, an imac & a mac mini. prior to upgrading the imac to mavericks from snow leopard [mini is still on snow leopard], neither had any issues using image capture with the scanner. since upgrading the imac to maverics, when i start up image capture, it does not see the scanner as a shared device, even though it is seen in the system pref/printer-scanner app. i have to reboot the imac to get the image capture to see the scanner. i am in the middle of scanning hundreds, if not a thousand, of old photos & this is a PITA.

Assuming the iTunes and AppleTV are set for Home Sharing, navigate to the iTunes library listing under Computers on AppleTV - there should be a new Rentals row along with Music, TV Shows etc.
The movie must download fully to iTunes before becoming available.  Also check it's still in iTunes and hasn't expired due to playing it inadvertently too soon.
