Image Doubling in both Canvas and Viewer

Hey Guys, don't know why this is happening as I didn't change any settings, but when I reopened my edit I'm getting this weird Doubling of the image effect in both the canvas and viewer... Need to finish this and this doubling is killing me, already tried trashing prefs, no mirror filters on the clips, happens for entire sequence....Happening in multiple projects. Any ideas?

Okay so I figured it out, but I'm not sure what it is... if you look in the top right hand corner of my screen, where the volume bar (not in the screen grab cause I had quit the app) there is a rounded corner blue box. When I clicked it a drop down menu shows and it was on Free View, I switched it to 2D and problem solved. Now, new problem, I have no idea what this is or why its on my menu bar. Any one know? Something to do with my Dual Displays?

FCP Canvas and Viewer

My FCP canvas and viewer appears to be showing my 16:9 footage in a letterbox format - not the same as usual - normally when I make the canvas full screen the footage will fill the screen - but now it is letter boxed, if you see what I mean!?
I am using FCP 5.0.4

Widescreen mode can mean either letterboxed or anamorphic. Select a clip in the browser (or in the timeline for that matter) and hit command-9. Is the anamorphic check box, checked? If not, your original material is letterboxed and you've either got to live with it, or enlarge your images which will lose an enormous amount of quality. If your clips are anamoprhic, you've got to check the anamorphic check box in your sequence settings, then select all your clips, control click and choose remove attributes:basic motion. Should do the trick.
This can be avoided by making sure your sequence settings match your clip settings BEFORE you start editing.

Canvas and viewer won't display video correctly

I have just reinstalled and then reinstalled 5.1.4. Picture plays on external video monitor but will not play in either canvas or viewer. RGB is set. Mirror on playback is set. Audio will play. Viewer will play on external monitor. Usually a still will be on viewer of canvas screen or just a jumbled mess. Sometimes with parts of display frame included in mess. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for posting helpful info re my problem. Issue finally resolved. FYI in case you should encounter a similar problem. I failed to mention in my post I was running two video displays. The video card I was running on when I developed the problem had been my auxilary display and was too underpowered to run the canvas and viewer. I inadvertaintly switched final cut pro to that card and monitor when my previous main monitor quit. I simultaneously had a drive boot problem. All is well that ends well, I suppose. Only took 4 days to sort it out and could find no info in tech manual that would have led me to this.

Canvas and View have gone green

The canvas and viewer windows in our FCP 5.4.1 are green and will not display video. We've restarted computer, and then re-installed FCP. FCP has been working well on this computer for over a year. Any ideas? Thanks.

sounds like something corrupt in your preference files
FCP uses these files to configure your set up ... when things go screwy its often a good place to start
note: reinstalling FCP doesn't help in this instance, because the preference files are not part of the install.
trashing your prefernce files can be done mnaually
but even easier is to use a nice bit of freeware caled FCP Rescue which is designed to perform this task ... it also lets you make a backup of your settings when they are good, which you can restore later if things go screwy again

FCP 7/ Sync issue in the canvas and viewer-not in timeline.

I am using FCP 7 on a Mac Pro. I am seeing an audio/ video sync issue in the canvas and viewer if I display at anything less than 50%. at 50% the video is choppy, but will play in sync. If I adjust between 50% and 25% or less, I can actually see the frame change without moving the play head. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

Thank you for the advice MtD. This content was encoded using H264 compression, but I have the option within my media encoder application to create only i frames-no B or P frames. This gives me a high quality file that is supposed to be much more "edit friendly" than standard H264.
I'm in an environment where re-rendering to Apple ProRes is not always an option. I have imported H264 content before and found no issue when trying to playback in the canvas. One odd thing I did encounter with my "problematic" file is that though I capture this at 23.976fps, Quicktime Player identifies the frame rate as 23.97fps and Final Cut then interprets this as 59.94fps. I thought this might be the culprit, but even after adjusting my frame rate to 23.98fps, and FCP7 importing as 23.98fps-the odd sync issue still appears in the canvas when displaying at less than 50%.
I will take your advise and re-render to Apple ProRes when that is a possibility.

Clips invisible in timeline as canvas and viewer playback become erratic.

cutting a feature on the fcp... has anyone else had the problem where, at some point, the clips and thumbnails cut into the timeline start failing to appear (although they are, indeed, present). simulaneous with this issue, the canvas and viewer become erratic. for instance, i can't drag across the timeline and have it appear in the canvas unless i hit the spacebar first... same with the viewer.
i had this problem earlier and thought it was corrected when i increased ram and disk space allocated to thumbnails and lessened the amount of memory allocated to fcp. this helped for a while but now, as the feature edit grows longer, the above problems have reappeared.
any thoughts? thanks.

Canvas and Viewer issues

All of a sudden, can't see vid footage on the viewer or canvas. Hear audio. Clips are in the timeline. 4 hours trying to fix it. Never happened before. People with similar issues have apparently gotten cryptic answers so far. Pleasse! someone who ACTUALLY knows a resolution respond. I am standing by.

Make sure the canvas or viewer are selected then go to VIEW>CHANNELS and set it to RGB. It might be set to ALPHA.
OR...
Click on the drop down menu above the Viewer or Canvas and make sure that you are on IMAGE or IMAGE + WIREFRAME.

Images stored in both iPhoto and PE11?

I have many of the same pictures stored in both iPhoto and PE11. I would like to drop iP. When I delete pictures in iP, will that affect the same pictures stored in PE11 Organizer (stupid having a large number of identical images stored twice on the computer..?).

Thanks all of you! There seems to be no full agreemenet here, however. The mess I feel I'm in is partly due to my ineptness, partly to the absurd complexity of the matter and partly to the crash I had with my new iMac. I got my reconstructed data on a mobile HD and started loading iPhoto with images. When I had my (newly aquired) PE11 reinstalled, I started to import images from iP. The arrived in event-folder, which means that I have to go through every picture to relocate it in an appropriate folder and album. Then I continued loading images from a memory stick (having tapped the mobile HD...).
Barbara - I'd love to believe your assertion. It sounds logical: I can delete the images in iP, and it will not affect the images I have loaded into PE11 Organizer...

ADF BC: both ID and view link object as getter/setter in row impl

I notice something when generating the row implementation of VO that have links to other VO. I can't seem to find the logic behind it...
Following model:
users( id, address_id,name,firstname,...)
address(id, street,number,...)
their is an assosiation between the UsersEO and the addressEO. Their is also a view link between the UsersVO and the AddressVO based upon the assosiation of the EO's.
When we create the row implementation of the UsersVO we find a getter and setter for both the address_id as well as the address row object.
Why is this?
We have this issue because i added the UsersVO and the addressVO to the app module but i haven't added the link to the appModule but when i create the SDO from the appModule, the Users has both the address_id as the address row object.
THis does not seem to make sense. How do you use it correctly? Do you just need to set the address_id and can leave the row object null or do they both need to have the same? What if you set the address_id to 1 but the id in the address row object is set to 5...
How do the databindings handle these things?
To me it seems more logical that the VO only has a getter and setter for the address object and handles the address_id in the background according to the values in the address object.
Can someone explain me why this is implemented this way and how to handle it correctly?

As mentioned above, once you add the addressVO to AM using the VL, the framework will take care setting the value of the row objects accordingly.

Link image properties to both thumbnail and hero image in slideshow?

Would it be possible to have it that when you change the properties of the thumbnail in a slideshow, it automatically populates the hero image, and vice-versa? This would be a huge time-saver!

When you style a background-image to an element in a Spry Menu, here is what happens:
If you style the a element, as in ul.MenuBarHorizontal a, you are styling ALL the a elements in the menu. Remember the cascade.
If you want to UN-style submenu a elements, you need to reiterate the styling thus: ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul a, which basically says "any a element in a submenu should take on this new styling."

The order of these rules is important. If you were to reverse the order of the two rules I show, you would begin by turning off the background on the submenus and turning it back on (and leaving it turned on) on all a elements.
The trick in the MenuBar css stylesheet is to find the appropriate rules to style. You will have to ADD the second rule that turns off the submenu styling. Read the comments and the style selectors in the css stylesheet carefully. It is not difficult, once you get used to reading the code.

I want to load the images from xml file to listcontrol and show that images as a icon in the listview,then i want to drag that image to panel that time it should show it original size of the Image.then it allows user to resize ,crop,rotate the image.then i want to save the resize image,when i save the resize image it should replace the original image in the xmllist.

You need to use a space separated list of features in the featureOff property.
For ex, in your case, you would use something like <af:panelCollection id="pc1" featuresOff="viewMenu detach">

Lost Canvas and Timeline windows and can't get them back

I'm new to Apple after many years with Windows. So I'm feeling my way around a bit.
Anyway, I just started using my new FCE, imported my first 60 minutes of home videos, and was getting ready to edit them when I lost 2 of the 4 editing windows - Canvas and Timeline. So I went to the Window command drop down and noticed both Canvas and Timeline were "greyed out". Browser and Viewer were not greyed out and both are working properly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is most frustrating. (I thought only Windows applications had frustrations!)

As Da Nam suggested... double-click on the sequence icon in the browser to open it... this will open the timeline and canvas windows.
If it's another problem.. try pressing control+U to restore to default window lay-out.

Printing 2 images on 36" wide canvas

I have an Epson Stylus Pro 9800, using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 with Windows XP Professional. I am trying to print 2 12 x 15 prints on the 36" wide canvas. This is what I'm doing. Open file - New. Want the new window or canvas to be 34" wide by 15" high - click on transparent. I then open the print that I want to print on this new canvas. I use the moving tool (top row on the right) and move the image to the new canvas and put it where it needs to go and then do it again so that both images are going across the canvas horizontally. Print with preview. When the preview comes up the portion of the canvas the I opened (34" wide by 15" high) is a light blue color. It stays blue when it is printed. What am I not doing correctly? I've tried flattening the image, saving as then closing and then re opening the file, tried all this with a white background also. When you stretch the canvas on stretcher strips, the light blue doesn't show, but it is wasting ink and it isn't cheap. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Was the background color light blue when you extended the canvas size? By default you get the current bg color. Just set the bg color to white before enlarging.
