Image duration

Hi, New member here.
I have 3002 individual images in a time line. I would like to change the duration of these images all at once.
Is there a select all feature I am missing? I have tried to fit the images to the visible time line so the all show up
on screen, and then select them all by dragging the coursor box around them so I could right click and select time stretch to change the duration, but they do not select.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Paul,
Ultimately, you should be rendering the correct number of frames right from the 3D program. In other words, if you want the video to play smoothly as 30fps, then render 30 frames for each second. A 10-second clip should consist of 300 frames then, and with duration in Premiere set to 1 frame, and a sequence at 30fps, then it ought to be nice and smooth. As soon as you start stretching the time one way of the other, some frames need to be duplicated or skipped and that is always going to effect the playback smoothness. The math just doesn't come out to support smooth playback otherwise.

  • Trouble with short still image durations

I know this is probably stupid and something simple I'm missing ...
I have a series of digital stills that I can import to the timeline etc etc
    but
I cannot find anyway to make the duration of each less than one second. Even if I enter less, it defaults back to one second. I need these to fire one after another really quickly.
    TIA

The still image duration is set by whatever you entered in FCP's preferences. Change the preference setting to whatever duration you need, then import the images into your project and drop them on the Timeline.

  • Image duration problem

Hi, I have a problem with image duration in Motion 5. I want change duration to 0.50, but it doesn't works! Knows anyone someway how can I edit? I need it for my stop-motion animation. I've about 400 photos...

You import them as an image sequence - name them sequentially, e.g. picture001, picture002, etc. and they will show up in the File Browser as a single file, and they will come in as a movie with one image per frame. This is completely separate from setting a still image duration.

  • Transition and image duration times issue

I'm trying to put together an image slide show w/music, etc. I have iM08 and can't set my transition time to 2 seconds and the image time to 4 seconds to save my life. The adjustments seem to have a mind of their own. Is this a solvable problem in '09? My preference would be to have a 4 second transition and a 5 second image duration.
In iMovie preferences I have checked the box regarding time codes.
If this can't work for me, I will not buy the upgrade but rather find a 3rd party slide show program that will do what I want it to do.
    Frustrating!
    Thanks for any help.

Can't get that to set in Project Properties - have tried to set 4 seconds and 9 seconds repeatedly. I still have varying lengths of transitions and photo durations showing up. Any clues how to get this to behave?
I set the photo duration at 10 seconds, the transition duration at 3.15, and what I end up with is this:
Transition durations of 3:09 - 3:12 and photo durations at 3:11, give or take. That's the best I'm able to do from my limited perspective.
Can I get the audio to loop or do I just drop it into the slideshow again?
    Any further thought?
    Thanks!

  • Adjusting still image duration length in iMovie 5.0.2

Hi is it possible to adjust still image duration in 5.0.2 by dragging from the end of the image 'clip'? I am sure I could do in iMovie4 and I can do it in iMovie HD 6 but a version of 5 that is on a project laptop just refuses to do it. Is this a version issue?
    Thanks

    Hi Karl,
YES! Thank you. That was it! I think I had stumbled on that previously but I couldn't remember it. Anyway thankyou. I'll be able to pass that on to all of the Digital Storytelling project participants.

  • Change image duration from 1 frame to 2 seconds

I have imported some images from an iMovie project to the timeline of FCP. They imported at 1 frame duration. I have tried every suggestion from other threads as to changing the duration of the images, to no avail. They seem to be locked. Nothing works. What am I missing? I need to change them to 2 seconds. I tried control/click and changing the duration to 2 seconds - no go. I have reset the preferences to 2 seconds, and imported another image as a test - still imports at 1 frame only. I have changed the duration in the Browser - doesn't change anything. I have tried the Viewer and can't make it budge. Help!
I imported directly from iMovie to the timeline so I could keep the images in order. If I import from the browser, it imports at the preference setting, but that means I would need to wade through the browser to put them in order again (very time consuming to do it with 300 images)
    gary

Would making a freeze frame of the image work? Could be pretty fast. Load in viewer, shift-n. drag to browser. Do you want to email me one of the images and I'll see if there's anything obvious? My email address is in my profile.
Also, what format did you export them from in IMovie. You might be able to use a graphic utility or photoshop to do a batch conversion

  • Slideshow: Setting Image Default Image Duration

    Howdy All!
I am again attempting to create a slideshow on FCE and it has been almost a year since I last used FCE. I have forgotten if there is a way to set the default duration of still images either as I import them into FCE or as I move them to the timeline.
I will also need to set a default duration for my transitions.
Does anyone know if there is a simple way to calculate how much inserting a transition will affect the duration of images. I know from past experience that if I calculate the duration of my still images so that a section of slide show is a specific length and then add in transitions, they will actually shorten the total duration of that section.
    Thanks
    HPL

It will only change new images as we said.
Regarding all the transitions, there is a way to streamline the process:-
    1. Put all slides in Timeline.
    2. Make your transition a Favorite.
    3. Click on the first "join" and add the transition.
    4. Press the Down Arrow and the playhead will jump to the next "join".
    5. Drag the Favorite from the Browser and drop it over the "join".
Keep repeating steps 4 and 5. It is extremely quick taking less than 5 seconds each and getting quicker with practice. You should be able to do the whole lot in well under half an hour.

  • Image Duration trouble

For some reason when I change the duration settings for Images it doesnt seem to apply - it always
stays at 2 seconds and also the default transition doesnt come up on the timeline even though
its ticked to do so - could someone shed some light on this plssss.

Over the versions, many have struggled with the Duration change. I guess that the Feature Requests were finally at critical mass, and Adobe addressed this workflow in CS5. PrElements users still struggle, as the feature has not been added, as of PrE 9 - maybe in PrE 10?
Good luck, and glad that Ann got you pointed to the exact workflow needed in pre-CS5 versions.

  • Only One Still Image Duration

    Hello Folks,
I have shortened the clip before a still image and need the image to fill the gap. Right click and change duration is not working. If I change it on the clips motion tab, that changes the speed but does not give me a handle. Other posts have given methods that change all stills on the timeline which is not what I want. I want to change ONE only.
    What am I forgetting?
    Thanks,
    Robert A. Ober

Yes, In the motion tab but as I said that changes the speed and does not give me handles. Ist there another place when it is in the viewer?
Yes. In the Duration field of the Viewer window (Video tab, upper left-hand corner). David S. didn't suggest changing the speed of the image ... he DID suggest changing it's duration.
Or right-click on the image in the Timeline and select DURATION from the contextual menu and make the change there.

  • Change images duration in one step

I have some images of various duration in the timeline , and I'd like to change their duration in one step, so to make them lasting all the same. Is it possible?

I have i.e. the first image of 10 seconds and the 2nd image of 5. If I select both and right-click POINTING on 5 sec image, setting duration to 2 sec I get the first becoming 7 sec and the second 2 sec. If I POINT to first image I can't set a lower duration than 5 sec (because the second is 5 sec long)...
What I want to say, is that here the images are changed proportionally. I can't impose them to last both, say, 3 seconds in one step
    Can you?

  • Quick Time Pro Still images duration

I am using Quick Time Pro version 7.7.5 to edit video clips.  I am adding a still image to the beginning of each clip for illustrative purposes but need to lengthen the amound of time the still image is displayed after it is attached to the video, preferably for about 5 seconds.  How would I go about doing that?

This is where "add scaled" comes into play. A still image doesn't have any "time" but if you add it scaled to an audio track you can give it a duration.
Open any audio track in QuickTime Player Pro and make a five second selection. Paste that selection in a new player window and close the source file.
Make sure all of your image files match the dimensions used in your video before starting.
Open the first of your image files, select all (control-a) and copy (control-c).
Switch to the 5 second audio track, select all and "Add to Selection & Scale" from the Edit menu.
Open the Movie Properties window (Window menu) and "Extract" the video track. This is now your 5 second image file. Name and save the file and close the image audio mix file without saving.
    Repeat for your other images.

  • Setting Still Image Durations in Premiere Elements 8

I've been using Premiere Elements 4 for awhile and never did find a solution to a simple problem.   Now I can't see any improvements worth anything in version 8 either.
I have, say, 100 jpgs.  I want to create a slide show with, to start with, a constant duration of 10 seconds each.
If I just add them all I get a duration of 5 seconds each.  There then seems to be no way to pick them in groups and change them to any other duration (a feature of a number of other DVD making programs).
I deleted all the jpgs from the sceneline.  In preferences I set the duration to 350 frames (should be just over 11 seconds  -- but way not allow me to pick seconds - which is after all the result I want).  I readded all the jpgs from the project list and they didn't have 11 seconds duration (still 5).  Do I have to wipe the whole project.   Set the duration and reget all the media?
I've googled away for awhile but am too dumb to find an answer to what should be a very simple question.
I'm not clear I'm asking in the right place but I'm trying anyway.
Thanks for any help that anyone can be.
    Paul

    Paul,
The stills Duration setting has been Feature Request for some many versions now, and, as mentioned, just made it into PrPro with CS5. I would suggest filing that Feature Request for PrE, so that maybe it will be incorporated into PrE 9, due out in several months, if the normal life-cycle holds true.
I am with you on seeing little, to no need to upgrade from PrE 4 to PrE 8, but have to admit that I felt the same way about PrPro, which I use much more often. However, the changes in the CS5 suite (especially PrPro and AE), has me working to get a new workstation and then the full upgrade. There are enough enhancements to sway me completely, even at the expense of new hardware.
I do recommend Steve's articles on authoring in PrE, especially regarding the Menus. I've done a couple of articles in Tips & Tricks on modifying the Menu Sets, but Steve covers ALL topics, related to authoring. As I seldom do authoring in PrE, I have to go to his articles to "brush up," so I appreciate them greatly.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Change duration of multiple images

    Hi there,
I'm trying to change the duration of all the images I have in my movie to 1.5 seconds. However, I can change the seconds but the miliseconds seems to be stuck on Fr which only goes up to .22 then jumps to 2 seconds.
Is there a way to change this to 1.5 seconds rather than 1 Sec 22 Fr or 2 Sec 0 Fr?
    Thanks,
    Nick

1.5 Seconds would equal 1 second and 15 frames or 75 frames
Try setting it to 1 second 15 frames.
    Also try:
Final Cut Pro Menu > Preferences > Window pops up. Select the EDITING Tab > You can set your STILL IMAGE DURATION. You can set it to 1.5 in this window.
Then, by default all the clips you select in the Browser will be selected in that range. However, it will not affect your still clips already in your Timeline Project.

  • Need Help Pasting Key Frames from one still image to others, and Changing the duration of multiple still images.

I'm working on a stop motion project, and I have at least a thousand still images to work with.
I have adjusted several Key Frame settings on the 1st still image in my project, such as
    Brightness
    Cropping
    Scale
    Position
I now want to apply these exact settings to hundreds of still images at a time that make up one scene in the project (but not all still images in the entire project).. Is there a way to paste or easily transfer them?
Also, there are scenes I'm working on in which I want to change the image duration of hundreds of photos at once, but not change to duration of all images in the project, is this possible?
I've looked at several different web-links, but none of them have what I'm looking for. If you can please help me, I'd be willing to send you $10 through paypal. Knowledge is power; the solution to these problems would save me hours of time. If you don't fully understand my questions I can send you a pictures or a video, pointing out my needs.

    Stan,
    Thanks again for your input.
When the project is created, I don't recall seeing the preference settings until after the project opens the first time.  In that case if certain media was imported into the project panel but not in the sequence, after the duration was changed, it would be necessary to remove the media from the project panel then re-import again.  If there is a workaround to this please let me know.  It also doesn't appear that creating a new sequence would prevent the re-importing.  Could you confirm?
Thanks for the link on automating to sequence--I remember that from CS4.
The application of identical effects to media on the timeline in a sequence was something I had learned back in CS3 or maybe earlier CS4 where the effected, in this case a transition between images was applied then copied then using the paste or (Control V) command, applied to all other stills.  That worked fine but with lots of images, it ends up being a lot of "point and clicks" since the CTI must be moved to each transition insertion point before the paste is applied.
I actually thought that I had seen someone select the remainder of the images in the sequence then apply the paste command but I was never able to make that work.  Have you heard of such a short-cut?
    Much thanks again!!
