Image Dust Removal Mask

Is it possible to create a mask with the ability to remove all the spots without worring about where the clone comes from?
This would be a great addition to LR.

Isn't this really a request to add spotting to the Develop presets?

  • What's the process to replace an image inside a mask?

    Hi There,
The new replace image function is a massive time saver but it doesn't seem to work with masked images.
These images are masked because they're part of an animation so I really need to replace them - not re-import and re-create the animation from scratch.
If this isn't possible, how do I remove the mask? That way I could just delete the mask, replace the image, then re-mask.
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

The image replace works perfectly with a masked image intact,  only if the two images dimensions are the same.
However, doing the following gets you 95% of the way with just a final tweak of the mask:
select the image on the slide
    Format > Copy Animation
    then replace image
    Format > Paste Animation
Format > Image > Edit Mask

  • Looking to have my 2 y o macbook pro cleaned (dust removal and such). I live in Loughborough(Leicester), where should I take it?

I tend to ramble when it comes to asking questions so I'll just sum it up briefly before I add any further details:
I am looking to have my macbook pro (I believe late 2011 version-out of warranty) cleaned inside out: dust removed, keyboard cleaned all that stuff-not by me. I would like to know where should I take it for this job in either of these locations: Loughborough, London or Maidenhead, and also (if anybody knows from their experience) how much would this cost? Lastly, in Apple Stores do you get a warranty for the service they provide?
Now for my blather...I mean extended version:
I had my macbook pro for 2 years now and I must admit I didn't take good care of it, as I maybe should have. By this I mean I never dropped it or spilled anything on it, but I'm pretty sure it got clogged up inside with a lot of dust by now and maybe some crumbs underneath my keyboard as well, so I'm looking to have it cleaned inside out- by a professional.
I never took it to a service before, so I really have no idea where's the best place to take it. I am not familiar with terms such as "genius bars" and after googling apple authorised services in the UK, I didn't end up with anything "certain"
Location-wise, I am studying in Loughborough (Leicestershire), but my dad works in Maidenhead and I'll be visiting him next week. I will also be for a day in London (although it'll be a Sunday- December 21st), so any service around these locations will work for me.
I would also like to point out one thing: I know some might suggest to clean it myself, but when it comes to anything IT-ish (especially a £900 macbook pro, I would rather leave it in the hands of a professional); even if let's say I cleaned the keyboard, I would still want to have the dust removed from the inside- and I am certainly not doing that. I'm a 19 year old university student with 0 experience and my time doesn't allow me to become an "apple genius" overnight.
Thank you for taking the time to go through my question!

Your MBP should be able to support 8GB (unless yours is an early 08 then you're stuck at 6GB).  I upgraded my old late 08 MB to 8GB.
SSD are a plus if you like speed.  Having 8GB and an SSD will improve the performance of your MBP.
I like OCZ SSD products but have heard some issues with older MBP.
Sandisk, Crucial and Kingston SSD tends to be more reliable and less compaibility issues with older MBP.
    Hope that helps..

  • Lenovo Energy Management - Where is my Dust Removal button?

Hello. After installation my Windows 8.1 which i downloaded from Microsoft DreamSpark i installed all drivers from a CD which came with my laptop in a box.
I installed Lenovo Energy Management and I had button to remove dust. After updating my system via WindowsUpdate this button dissapeared. It's gone.
My laptop is Lenovo G500s (without touchable screen).
Anyone had same problem like me?
I want to emphasize that after fresh installation of Win 8.1 without any uptates (Windows 8.1 Pro - Build 9600) i had that "remove dust" button.
Sorry for my bad english spelling but I'm from europe. Hope you forgive me.

  • Seamless repeating pattern - using embedded images with clipping masks

    Hi forum,
We struggle a bit creating a seemless repeating pattern that includes embedded images with clipping masks applied.
Our pattern is a 550x550mm black square with various embedded inserted on top. All of these images have Clipping Masks applied to hide unwanted areas.
These images are placed so they create a seamless repeating pattern and this includes areas that overlap the square.
Once we create a swatch from this pattern the repeatable area becomes too big as it includes the unwanted areas hidden by the clipping masks.
Because the repeatable area is now too big it's actually not repeatable.
We tried various things in order to solve this issue. Pathfinder/crop to delete the unwanted areas in the images etc.
None of them worked good enough.
We though of just livetracing the images, but due to the complexity this is not an option.
Do we really have to do our "cutting" in Photoshop or do you know any fancy tricks for issues like this?
    Appreaciate your insight
    Kenneth

    Kenneth,
You may try the destructive deed, with the Clipping Mask selected:
    1) In the Transparency palette/panel dropdown list select anything but Normal (Multiply is fine),
    2) Object>Flatten Transparency, just keep the defaults including 100% Vector,
    3) Shudder.
This should reduce the size to the Bounding Box of the Clipping Path.

  • Viewing image and layer mask?

Hi, thanks for stopping by and reading.
I've a layer with a group of people on it over a layer with a background on it.
The layer with the people has a layer mask which I've worked on to cut the people out...
Now I want to work round the cut out edge (layer mask) subtly refining it.
The image is going to be printed large so I need to pay attention to the detail... like strands of hair.
Intuitively (to me) I cut more hair off as opposed to left more hair on - if you follow. Perhaps unconciously thinking it was the way to minimse work because if it looks ok then job done.
Now of course I'm effectively working blind as I seek to refine the mask by adding-in soft blurred hair. (Hope you follow) So...
Q: Is there a way to view the entire original image with the mask overlaid?
I've come up with a working fix... I'm duplicating the layer with the mask, deleting the mask and adjusting the opacity so I can work through this new layer onto the layer mask below.... should I have approached this differently... more elegantly? Hind sight is a marvelous thing.
How do sensible people approach this exercise..?
Hope you'll share, thank you and keep well.

    Hi MTSTUNER & J Maloney
I really appreciate the interest you've both taken in the question.
Yes, J Maloney you would be correct. I was wanting to see the whole of the image, the masked bits and the not masked bits... as well as the mask too all simultaneously.
I'm currently kicking myself that I've not explored the Masks panel. Don't know when it was introduced, I have kind of skipped a version of PhotoShop or two on my own machine - lame excuse, I know gov. The density idea is far more elegant than my solution. However, I did find that by creating the duplicate I've been able to colourise it so as to make the results of what I was doing really obvious visually. I like the invert idea too, so simple - and it might prove the best of the options... but I'll try it on another image as I've pretty much done this one - lots of hats, not much hair.
No offence on the "last paragraph". My reaction was "it's not unasked" though I wasn't clear: "How do sensible people approach this exercise?"
Thank you too MSTUNER, I appreciate the time spent.
"Quick Mask?" occurred randomly to me. Something I've never bothered with, tending to go straight to Layer Mask work. I'll own up that Quick Mask has never managed to make itself part of my workflow, I've no idea why because I'm sure it should if I gave it time. However, a quick experiment hasn't produced a Eureka moment. I was hoping I could easily subtract or add a Quick Mask from/to an existing Layer Mask... nope, doesn't seem to want to - though it was a 'quick' experiment.
Thank you again for taking the time and enjoy the rest of your day. Regards.

  • How do I recover a file of images I removed from LR 4.3 that is not found in my desktop recycle bin?

How do I recover a file of images I removed from LR 4.3 that is not found in my desktop recycle bin?

I would try the following, in order
Have your operating system search your entire hard disk(s)
If that doesn't find the files, restore from backup
If you don't have backups then perhaps you should consider making backups of both your catalog file and your photos from now on
Locate, download and install and run an "undelete utility" (freeware versions are available) -- if you are going to do this, do it immediately, do not perform other tasks on your comptuer

  • Import image as a mask or How to use an alpha mask for transparency mask

    Hello,
Basically I need to know how to import 1 image into another image as a mask.
    What I'm trying to do:
I have a bunch of large images that put together make 1 very large image (ortho land images). I also have corresponding images, lets refer to them as mask images, that would mask out parts of the large ortho image I want to import it too. These mask images basically look like a PS mask. They are feathered black to white images. I need to be able to import them as a mask.
Is there away, if so how?
    Thanks!!!!

If the masked out areas of your image are to be black, see if this approach fits your needs and forget about creating a mask. Instead bring your "mask image" into your ortho land image using your favorite technique. Now change the blend mode of this mask image to mutiply. You should now see land wherever your mask is white, black where the mask is black and transition regions where the mask has a gray value.
Alternatively, you can make an alpha channel if you want by turning off all layers except your "mask image", switching to the channel palette, Ctrl clicking on the rgb channel (to create a selection) and then clicking on the Save Selection as Channel icon at the bottom of the palette. You can then create a luminance mask by going back to the layer palette, selecting the layer you want to mask and click the Add LAyer Mask icon at the bottom of the palette.

  • PE 5.0 Batch Processing for dust removal add on

I have PE Elements 5 and have scanned about 6000 slides (whew!) into my system. I have been using a dust removal add in provided by the scanner manufacturer (Konica Minolta DiMage Scan Dual IV) which has a slightly better capability than the caned one provided by Adobe. I would like to be able to batch process the slides for dust removal. Is this possible?

    1. Is above possible at all?
    Simple answer, No.
    2. Does anyone know how to perform either of the 'Remove an Add-On' and/or 'Downgrade an Add-On'?
As far as I know is not possible... you'll have to restore from backup.

  • Dust Removal missing in Lenovo G400

Hey, I have the G400 with windows 8 first(At the power management it has A dust removal). But, after a few day, My laptop is bluescreen. Every I restart , it is always bluescreen, so I decide go to the computer service. It is installed with windows 7 32 bit, and I upgraded to windows 7 64 bit(upgraded bios too). After several months, suddenly, the dust removal option is not avaible . Why This is happening? Are this is caused by upgrading BIOS? or other?
    (Sorry for my bad languange)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi FadhFirasi,
Thank you for the reply, updating BIOS will not affect the other options but instead it will resolve the issue if present. But, I would suggest you to reset the BIOS to its defaults once and then re-install LEM and let me know if the issue persists. Below are the steps to reset the BIOS to its defaults:
To access BIOS menu turn OFF the Laptop and press the NOVO button located beside power button.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on “F9” Key and select YES.
Now click on “F10” Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer will automatically restart.
Do post us back if the issue persists.
    Best Regards

  • Can MSI's Dust Removal Tech disabled?

    Hi
I am new to the forum and new to the MSI family, well almost. I am getting 2X MSI GTX 670 Power Editions (OC) for SLI setup. I am soooo excited. Feel like a kiddy again!
I am fully aware of MSI's Dust Removal Tech and how it works, though could someone kindly advise if this can be disabled or not? When I say "disabled" I mean that the cards start normally without spinning at high RPM and/or in reverse?
    Thanks for the info.

  • Dust Removal Technology - how to disable?

    Hi,
    I'm owning MSI N670 PE 2GD5/OC.
I'm happy with it, but after every restart the fans speed up to 100% and it's very annoying.
I know it's caused by Dust Removal Technology.
Aren't exist or does MSI planning to release BIOS without Dust Removal Technology fans speed up?
Maybe the best solution would be release some utility or integrate it to some utility to manually activate this feature.
It's great future, but I think it's activated very often...

I obtained a BIOS from German MSI site you've mentioned which reduce backward fan speed only to 30% in DOS.
The BIOS is dated on June 2012.
But newer BIOS was realesed from November 2012 when is stated:
"This bios is used to solve motherboard compatible issue. If your card is Hybrid bios and face this issue, please update your BIOS."
I have ASUS P8Z77-V LE PLUS motherboard.
Do you think I will not have any issues with my motherboard or in the future with Windows 8 and beyond with this German BIOS from June?
I'm not owning the card yet, so this is very important for me.
    Thanks.

  • Dust Removal option is not existing !!!

hii have lenovo y 50 and energy manager 1.5.0.16and i have win 8,1 there is no fan dust removal option!please help me whats a problem?thanks alot

Well, I can tell you why there is no such option anymore or to be precise why they removed this option. I am a self taught computer technician and in my years of experience I have seen countless cases where the poor ventilation system and design (very small in size and very few in number air inlet grills), were the main reasons that caused a critical hardware failure. In most cases it's the graphics card (GPU) that will suffer the damage. And as we all know, laptops and notebooks in most cases have onboard - integrated graphics cards/chips, soldered on the motherboard. So, when you go to a repair shop they will tell you that you either have to replace the mainboard (with a cost almost as much as to buy a new laptop), or to buy a new laptop. What would you choose? They will not bother to repair it because it's a difficult repair that requires skills and equipment that most of them don't have. Interestingly, it always happens shortly after the warranty has expired. I'm pretty sure it's not a coincidence and I'm telling this because I have seen laptops where all the other components were soldered with lead free solder while the gpu was soldered with common, lead based solder that has a lower melting point. I can't believe that they are capable of producing such marvelous technological things as the today's processors (CPUs) with one hundred billion transistors in a space no larger than a fingernail or ultra-small SMT (Surface Mount Technology) chip capacitors and tactile switches while on the other hand, they are not able to make a fan spin faster or to find an effective way to attach the GPU chip to the motherboard. Come on guys... Please note that the Lenovo laptop that I'm currently working on has a four-wire fan which means that the fan speed can be controlled with an appropriate driver or BIOS update. Until Lenovo and other big companies change their way of thinking and their policy, my advice to my clients would be...stay away from these products and brands.
