Image field on acrobat professional x.
I'm trying to create an image field in a form that i've already done. Javascript action isn't working at all.
Any suggestions? How can i do that? Or i really MUST HAVE acrobat livecycle designer, a windows software, from more than 4 years ago because a type of button is missing in professional X for mac?
If it has to work with Reader, an image field created in Acrobat won't work. If you want the user to be able to select an image file from a dialog, then an XFA form created in LiveCycle Designer is the only option. Reader users are able to paste images from the clipboard if the document has usage rights that allows it, but the user has to somehow copy the image to the clipboard.

Image field in Acrobat 8 Professional

So all they had to do was click and find the image and it would place it. Well I am finding many problems, first problem I encountered was when I placed the image field and clicked on "fit image proportionally," in one and then in another one I chose "fit image to box," and they both did the same thing, it fit it to the box, it didn't fit proportionally. Is there a way to fix that? Another thing is that I worked around that for now and found a way to get the images on the form but when I did they were blury and pixelated, but they are 300 dpi, how can I fix that? If anyone can help me ASAP I would be greatful. Thanks
Acrobat uses a non-destructive crop. When you import the pdf into an intelligent program, it will only show you the part of the pdf within the crop box. I have used Acrobat and FrameMaker for years and it only shows you the proper part of the pdf. InDesign CS 5 seems to import the entire pdf unless you play with the import options.

Image Editing in Acrobat Professional 8.1.2
I am running Acrobat 8.1.2 under XP Professional Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600.
I am trying to edit images in a file I downloaded from the web to reduce the file size. The images are ones that thumbnails on an earlier page access to show a larger sized image.
The images are slightly too long to fit on one page, so most of the image appears on page 1 and then the bottom portion on the top of page 2. There are text boxes separating the images.
Is there a simple way to edit these images to make them small enough to fit on a single page in Acrobat?
I managed to select each one and drag the corners to make them ~the same size and small enough for one page, but I cannot seem to move the bottom part so that I can merge it with the major part.
It is not clear to me if this is an artefact of the downloading process or not. Perhaps I could adjust some parameter so that the images all fit properly when downloaded?
I'll be glad to create a small, 2 page Acrobat file illustrating the problem. I don't see a way to post it here, though?

I see I should have said a bit more.
In Acrobat Professional 8, I used the menu path File>Create PDF>From Web Page. I specified that I wanted to drill down 2 levels.
That accomplished what I wanted. I captured the images and the linked images. I captured a whole lot more, but that was easy to delete in the Thumbnail View. I then deleted all the superfluous bookmarks and any unwanted text from the homepage. Now I have a PDF which is just under 10K and might pass muster for an email attachment. Clearly if I could condense the linked full size images to single pages, the file should become significantly smaller.
Perhaps it makes a difference, but my browser of choice is Mozilla SeaMonkey 1.1.9.
Acrobat 'does everything for you transparently' so it is not evident if it uses Mozilla, or if it uses its own software to open a web page and capture it. Does anyone reading this know more about the process?

I had a similar problem and found help for it. Go to the "Advanced" menu and select Extend features in Adobe Reader. That will enable rights which may resolve your problem. If that doesn't work, there is a really helpful guy in here, Robert Levine. You may want to ask him directly.

Using Javascript in Acrobat to emulate LiveCycle Image Field

I have a complex pdf form with numerous validation & calculation javascript calls that really could use the image field functionality of LiveCycle: that is, to have a user with Reader insert their own image into a fillable form. The images do not need to be submitted or extracted in any way.
Is there any work around for this feature in Acrobat 9 Pro (which I have) or X (which I might be able to get) with JS that might create or approximate the image field functionality? Given the complexity and volume of JS calls, I can't see it being worth converting the form to LC and recreating is not an option at this point. Any advice would be welcome. I made a fillable form using indesign and then acrobat professional but need to have radio buttons trigger different fields showing in the form below them - is that possible and if so how do I do it??
What version of Reader are they using, exactly? And are you sure they're
using Reader itself and not opening the file inside a browser window, for
example?

Form designing for compatibility between Acrobat Reader 7 and Acrobat Professional
I have designed a Form using LiveCycle Designer 7.0. It contains a few subforms and lot of javascripting. One of the javascript logic I am using is to display a subform when a user clicks a radio button and hide it when the user clicks another radio button. The subform contains Text field, Numeric field, Rectangle, Line, Button. This worked well with Acrobat Reader 7.
After I installed Acrobat Professional 7, my form breaks. I did a quick test to see where it breaks and came out with the following conclusion.
1. If the subForm contains an Image, Line, Rectangle or Circle control, the subForm rendering throws error (Adobe Acrobat 7.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close) when I click on the radio button to display the subform.
2. If the subForm contains Text control, it is displayed even if subform is invisible.
3. If the subForm contains Checkbox, Radio, Dropdown list, List Box, Button, Submit By Email, Submit, Print Form, Reset Form; these controls are never displayed even if subform is visible.

I need some clarification. When you say 7.0.5 version, are you expecting 7.0.5 version of Reader or Professional?
Here's the steps I followed:
I originally had Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 and Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 and everything worked great.
Now I have uninstalled Designer and Reader and installed
Acrobat Professional Tryout. This installs Acrobat Professional version 7.0.0 and Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 (which is the same as above). Now the same forms which were working earlier are not working as expected.
Please note that I have NOT installed Acrobat Reader 7.0.5. How do I find out what version of Reader does Designer user for PDF preview?
If I separately download Acrobat Reader 7.0.5, how do I tell Designer to use that version for PDF preview?

Image Field overwrite existing click event
Using LiveCycle 8, I am creating a form which has an image which will change when the user clicks the image object.
I downloaded the trial of Acrobat Professional 8.0. In this version, instead of creating a form in Acrobat, it uses LiveCycle 8. In LiveCycle, there is no Image Button and the Static Image object cannot be scripted. It seems the choice for a dynamic image object is the Image Field. But this object has a default click event which is not required in my form.
Is there a way to replace the default click event on the Image Field object? I would like to overwrite it's click event with my own Javascript script. So far, I can add my own script in the click event, but then both my script and the browse for image file occurs.
Thanks!You can't override an event but you could put a button over top of the image, make it the same color as the background, remove the caption and then when you click the image you are really clicking the button. You can put your code on the click event of the button. make sure the button is in the foreground and the image field is in the background.

Editing Form Fields inside Acrobat? (after using LiveCycle Designer)

Say I downloaded a new PDF from the interwebs.
I want to add some forms fields so I go to Forms ==> Add or Edit Fields... (inside Acrobat)
Now Acrobat will detect possible places where to add the form fields. I make changes etc. Then I am satisfied with my form fields.
Now say I want to remove a particular object from the PDF, lets take an image as an example.
So I fire up LiveCycle Designer; File ==> New ==> Import a PDF document ==> Create an Interactive Form with a Flowable Layout.
I remove that pesky little object.
In LiveCycle Designer, I save the file as PDF.
I open up Acrobat. I realize I need to make some more changes to some of the Form Fields.
But now instead of "Add or Edit Fields..." option I get "Edit Form in Designer..."
I hate the GUI of LiveCycle Designer --- I had rather edit the form fields from inside Acrobat, as it is easy and fast to change multiple form fields in a few clicks.Thank you Niall for the above response; Your response gave me an idea which allowed me to remove that line by zooming in to 200%
You know Acrobat detects Form Fields for you.
But many times it makes mistakes, for example in the screenshot below it made the boxes that came with the PDF as text fields instead of check boxes.
The thing is rather than me delete the (form) fields it detected, and start over by making new check boxes, I will not be able to place my new check box in exact locations as Acrobat has done.
When I imported the fields that Acrobat made into LC (by saving the PDF in Acrobat and then opening it with LC) I get option to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box when I right click the object.
Is there a similar way to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box inside Acrobat? Any suggestions?

I would really like to do it inside Acrobat because then if I have to make some minor changes to some field properties, all my hard work which I did by filling the fields gets deleted, as I am forced to use LC. The text I add to the fields don't get deleted when I edit the field properties inside Acrobat. I don't know why LC decides to delete all the text which is filled out in the form fields even though the PDF is saved in Acrobat before being imported into LC?

System Events not working correctly with Acrobat Professional
Hey Guys, I have a script that I have written that automatically enables security settings on a PDF through Acrobat Professional. Because of Acrobats poor scriptability I am forced into doing much though System Events.
This is not a major problem... however when activating some settings in the security settings, often warning Alert dialog boxes appear when you tell System Events to enable particular settings. These Alerts do not have a title... The only way I have been able to get the script to deal with them is with the following code:

I guess this is an ok solution... bit hard to identify windows when they don't have titles...
BUT this is not my main problem. The main problem is that the script gets to one of these alert dialog boxes and just sits there... It sits there for like 10 seconds and then it performs the "click button "OK"" command.
This is a problem as there are like 3 of these instances and it really adds up. Can anybody help me... I am using Acrobat Professional 8.2.0 and the entire code is:

I'm using version 8 and have enabled my form in acrobat so that users can enter text in my fields. I also have an image field on my form. My question is how do I make the image field read-only so that a user can not click on it an prompt them for a file?

I found the problem while I install acrobat professional 7.0 on Windows 7( 64 bit version), Adobe PDF port & printer was not created. Yes! Thank you. I played around with it some and found that is the case, that I can PDF through the printer as well as bring the application up. I suppose it's just not install-able in full because it just cannot link up with Windows 7 in any capacity.

Thanks.Acrobat 8's HTML->PDF engine is quite old and doesn't work well with modern web pages. I'd recommend trying the same page using Acrobat X (trial available) where the engine has been replaced and modernized.

Could not get exact contents from pdf using adobe acrobat professional

I am using acrobat professional to extract contents from a pdf into HTML. During extraction of pdf into HTML some contents are getting rendered as images. But with pdf to xml extraction i can get the exact contents. But i need HTML file from pdf. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.You might want to see if you can select the background with the object touchup tool. If so, can you then just delete the selected object. May take a while to go through the document, but if it solves the problem you are ahead. You may be able to select it with JavaScript and repeat the process. My point of using the object touchup tool is that it may not be a background set by Acrobat, but something that is simply labeled as an image from the Acrobat viewpoint.

I think that I am missing something really obvious here. I edited an old JPEG in ACR (Bridge version) & saved it. I then opened the image in PSE8. However, none of the edits that I did in ACR were transferred to PSE8. In other words, the image tha
