Image File Location

I haven't used iPhoto much in the past except for the Calender feature; I order once a year. I just got a new machine and do not want the actual image files stored on the boot drive, but instead on an external. How do I set this up?
Thanks

How do I get thumbs to show up?
Content needs to be added to the library before it will display anything.
If I go Import doesn't that actually copy them to my internal HDD?
Not if you've created the library on the external drive. Every component of the library is stored in the location where you created it unless you set iPhoto not to copy items to the library when imported from the Advanced section of its preferences, in which case they're stored where they were placed prior to being imported.

  • Where are the image files located?

hey guys, my book is 75 mb and I can only guess that it's because my images are Too big. I don't know how to get the file sizes down because I replaced them but they must still be retained in the image folder because when I look at the size its 75mb. Does anyone know where the images are located?

Finding out where the images are held doesn't really help – here's why:
iBA a files aren't really document files – they're more like zipped folders. iBA does a whole heap of background stuff to make the book work. When you drag an or import an image into iBA, it gets filed into a certain place within that folder structure, and presumably 'logs' that location in some xml-type wizardry somewhere else in that folder structure.
Because of this, it's not a great idea to muck around with any of that stuff - it often makes things worse, not better.
As for image size - as Vinny said - all you can do is make the images 2048 x 1536 if you want view them full screen. That looks best on a Retina display, as almost all iPads being sold now are.
I don't know what your intentions are with the project, but in my experience, 75Mb pretty small. Is 75Mb the iBA file or an exported .ibooks file? Once a book gets exported to .ibooks format, the file size comes down. The iBA files I have worked on are much larger – the smallest being about 975Mb, going up to about 3.25Gb.

  • Where is the user image file located?

So, I know this has been discussed before, but I can't find a sollution that works in Mountain Lion.
I'd like to be able to locate the image file which I'm using for my user account icon. It also appears in iMessage and Contacts, but I can't drag it to the the desktop. Because I don't know the file name, I can't search for it.
Does anyone know where it is stored? Or how I can extract it?

    Hi,
Previously in iChat the "Recent Pics" were stored and shown in the Drop down in the Buddy list.
    The place was ~/Library/Images
In Mountain Lion it appears that the Drop Down shows "Recent Pics" but is pulling them from several sources.
    The Messages Drop down
The Recent Picture Folder has these:-
    Some Match and some don't.
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook holds the Zebra and copies of my Sig and thre Union Flag.
At present I cannot find the ones the System Preferences > User and Groups > your account has as Pic are stored.
Some of the pics are the Apple Default ones.  (Hardrive Name/Library/User Pictures)
You can also take a Snap Shot on Macs with cameras  and I guess it is this that you are after ?

  • Image file location, deletion without iPhoto

I moved my iPhoto library to an external hard drive for space.  After verifying that the external libraray was ok, i deleted the mac hd iphoto library.  However, I failed to delete all the images first.  However, I realized that after I deleted the library, the photos were all still on Mac HD.  How do i find those image files and delete them, without iPhoto?

Which is it, Managed or Referenced?
Also what version of iPhoto and system are you running?

  • Irritating Tool Tip on image file location

My complied web help (RoboHelp Word) shows an irritating tool
tip on the location and file name of the images when the mouse is
placed over the images. How do I disable this?

Hi jothi21 and welcome to our community
Personally, I try like heck to avoid mixing Word and
RoboHelp, but it does appear here that you actually LIKE this
    combination.
If this were RoboHelp HTML. I'd tell you to double-click the
offending image and look in the
Screen tip field. I'm hopeful here that Word might offer the
same thing if you double click your image there. If not, try right
clicking the image and see what options you have. The goal is to
see if RoboHelp will offer some option to insert the same thing in
    the RoboHelp for Word version.

  • Lightroom workflow - HD setup and file locations

Has anyone waxed poetic about catalog and image file locations or workflow? How do you go about conceptualizing a drive and file storage strategy for a Lightroom workflow? Of course this will vary depending on the equipment you have, but I'd appreciate and links to stories that run through various configuration setups and the possible workflows and locations for catalog, master files and backup locations. Here's my setup:
    - Mac Pro (3GHz 8 Core) with two 750GB internal drives (one for OS X) the other for Apps and content storage); two empty drive bays for now.
    - PowerBook G4 1.2GHz w/160GB internal drive that I use on location, or as an in-lab Flash card reader if the Addonics external, Firewire card reader attached to the Mac Pro fails to see a camera card (as it sometimes does). This second in-lab scenario adds some complexity to the workflow, although the machines are linked with Cat 6, gigabit Ethernet.
    - OWC Mercury Elite Pro with two 750GB drives configured as a mirrored, software RAID on Firewire 800 for backups.
Should I set up the Lightroom catalog on the internal "content" drive and store all the actual image files there, reserving the RAID drive strictly for backups? This would mean that the RAID would only be used a redundant backup system (which is fine and what I originally planned) since it's probably slower than the single, internal drive. The problem is this: remembering to back up the files from the main content drive to the software RAID drive.
Or should I be using the slower, mirrored RAID for main content (master image file and catalog) storage.

    John, Andrew and others:
Thanks for your thoughts. Do you also use Lightroom to manage all "working" versions of Photoshop files (multiple version - edits - of files in progress)?
During my first couple of projects, I ended up creating a "Working" folder for each project outside the Nikon folder-oriented hierarchy of the original image files. I did this only out of habit rather than workflow planning, but ended up with a second workflow outside of Lightroom.
Does anyone think it's better to simply save these files (with or without the "working" folders) into the same folder hierarchy with all the Nikon originals? I'm just trying to figure out how to organize the workflow for the in-progress files.
Again, before Lightroom, I managed these files in separate folders on the hard drive, and usually moved them to a new location for final storage. Clearly, that won't work for Lightroom, but what does? I'm getting into a bit of trouble trying to manage file (and working folder) locations as I try to transition to a new, database-driven workflow.

  • Image file not visible in style library where it is situated but still visible in site

    Hi all,
I'm a bit stumped by this one - there are a set of images that are part of my masterpage in my site, and they are "in" (according to the link/url) the "/style library\branding2010/images/..." folder, however when you GO to this folder,
these images are nowhere to be found... how is this possible?
Has this item been deployed incorrectly?
What is the correct way to (a) fix, (b) do this in future?
There is a "branding2010.wsp" file ON the server, there is also the "*.master page that refers to these "phantom" images appear fine even in SharePoint Designer, and while you CAN see them in the "Browse" for picture window
IN SharePoint Designer, you can't add edit or delete these things...
I don't know much about branding (or sharepoint really) but I'm "in charge" - I'm site collection admin, but I can't seem to "see it" using Sharepoint designer, Sharepoint "proper", or "View/Manage All Site Content".
Any help or guidance would be great!
UPDATE: Hmmm... in "All Files" (Sharepoint Designer) you CAN get to and manage these files... is this the recommended workflow?

    Hi,
As you said that you can view the image files inside All Files in SharePoint Designer, so what is the image files’ location? Are they still inside the style library?
I suppose that the images may not be stored in the Style Library.
Please right click the file in SharePoint Designer and select Preview in Browser to check the URL of the images.
Per my knowledge, if the images are stored in the style library and you have permission to view or edit
the files, you can view or edit the files in the browser.
And you can also choose to edit the files in SharePoint Designer, both the two methods are supported.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • Download/Display the image files stored at KM location: J2EE application

    Hi All
Please let me know how to download/Display the image files stored at KM location on portal using J2EE application. Thanks.
    Best Regards

You can use a servlet to deliver the image data to the <img tag, which allows you to get the data from something other than a file on the server (e.g. store the image data as a session attribute with a generated attribute key, the key being given in the serlvet's query string).

See Usage Notes in Help documentation for READ_IMAGE_FILE:
    * Oracle Forms searches for the image file along the same default path as it searches for an .FMX file.
    * READ_IMAGE_FILE Built-in reads images from the file system of the Application Server, not the client browser.

  • How to locate the correct image file before reading/saving it

    Hi,
I would like to find out how to copy/save/read image files from certain website in Java, particularly to locate the right one from various relative URL links on the same website. Below is an example to look at:
    On the main web page
By selecting (http://www.abc.com/Public/Details.aspx?adid=2007103609) on a tiny camera icon that consist of source code (<td class="even"><a target="_blank" href="http://www.abc.com/Public/Details.aspx?adid=2007135110"><img src="/images/camera.gif" width="19" ...></a></td>) directed me to another page with the actual photo.
The source code of this secondary page where the photo is located are as follows:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"><!--

    Many thanks,

    Hi All,
Could someone give me a hand with suggesting on how to locate the correct links (from multiple web pages) of the image file? I still could not proceed further on this issue.
There is no problem with saving/reading the file once it is accurately identified.
Please move it to the Java Technology & XML forum if it is not already in it.
    Many thanks,

  • An error occurred saving the images to the chosen file location

I am trying to save the scans from my HP Officejet 6500.  I receive the following error message:
An error occurred saving the images to the chosen file location.
    I have Win 7.
I can scan and save if I choose to use the picture option but I can't use the feeder with the picture option.  It is only good if I have 1 page.

I received this exact same message:
an error occurred saving the images to the chosen file location.
    8,[(8,106,0)]
I have not had the time to verify this, but I suspect the security settings on any other location you specify are not the same as those of the default.  i.e. C:\Users\%Username%\Documents\My Scans
When I used the default location and base name the software provided, it worked.
My guess is Microsoft and/or HP may have changed the security permissions for something in the path folders and the Scanning Software is therefore not permitted to write into the location you entered.

  • Can I re-locate my image files?

I imported about 80GB of pictures into iPhoto, leaving the images themselves on my NAS (I couldn't afford to lose 80GB of space on my Macbook Air!).
Some time later, I was forced to move the image folders to another NAS.  iPhoto now (quite reasonably!) complains that it cannot find the image files.  Is there some way I can persuade it to to reconnect with the images in their new location?  Or will I have to start again from scratch?

iPhoto does not have a built-in option to relocate and reconnect original image files. If you want routinely to work with referenced original images and be able to relocate original files freely, I'd upgrade to Aperture.
To fix your immediate problem I'd put the referenced original files back to where you removed them from and use iPhoto Library manager to create a reconnected copy of your iPhoto Library on your new NAS.

Can anyone help me with this ?
    thanks for the help

Yes, google, or our wiki.  Don't be a help vampire.  The forums are here to help, but you should first try to search.  And either a google or wiki search with anything related to logind would get you just what you are looking for.  (edit: this is not to say your original question wasn't a good one.  It did tell you the file name and line number, you should use those to check the file yourself, but it was a fair question.  I'm referring here only to the logind followup)
However, if being in the audio group doesn't help, neither will having a valid logind session.  Do you have a /dev/mixer?  When a program says it can't find a file, check to see if that file exists.
I have no /dev/mixer.  But I did do a google (actually duck duck go) search with site:archlinux.org for this and the first entries were to threads on this forum with the exact same volume plugin issue you're having for fbpanel - and those threads have the solution.
