Image filters for LabVIEW

Hi,
I'm looking for image filters in LabVIEW similar to PhotoShop or Paint Shop
Pro filters.
Do you know something about that?
Miguel.

Miguel,
The IMAQ Vision toolkit has some simple filters available. Most of them are also available in Vision Builder. However, any "high-tech" filters like the ones in PhotoShop would have to be developed from scratch.
I have some experience designing image filters. I would be glad to discuss any specific filters you are trying to achieve. I can be contacted at [email protected]

  • Image Filters for InDeasin CS

I have been running InDesign CS 3.0 for years and suddenly it asks for Image Filters and Avast blocks these siting malicious files. Does anyone have a solution?
InDesign still runs on a computer that never sees the Internet.

You cannot attach to the forums, you need to come back to the web page and use the camera icon to embed the images in a  post, like this:
I find it more likely thatyour unconnected machine is not suffering from Avast finding a false positive, either because it isn't running, or becasue it hasn't received the same defective update. ID would not be looking for new versions of image filters on startup. If there were any, they would only be installed as part of a program update, and there hasn't been one of those for CS3 for years. ID does load existing plugins into memory, though as it starts up, and it sounds like Avast has taken a dislike tothe image filter plugins.
In case you haven't caught the undercurrent of what I'm saying, the problem is most likely Avast, not anything to do with ID.

  • Capcha image validation for registration.

can anyone help me regarding : Capcha image validation for registration in struts application using validators.

You could create a Java filter that would invalidate check-in (throw an exception). This filter could be bound to validateCheckinDate filter event.
Alternatively, you could also customize the front-end to filter files for you - see this thread UCM : filtering file formats in "primary file" check-in field

  • Colour filters for RGB separation?

I want to colour-separate an image to create false-colour - start with a UV-only photo matched with an RGB photo, then separate the B & G of the RGB so I can map UV to B, B to G and G to R as insects see things. The images are film, not digital raw.
First, I have to find colour filters for Elements 9, and there don't seem to be any installed. Any sources that others have used without problems?
I assume that converting each separated image to B&W then to the desired colour, then superposing as 3 layers will work, but is there a better way?

Thanks for the info -- it inspired me to experiment with this.  I was amazed that I could separate the original colour image into 3 separate B&W layers and then recombine them into a full colour image.  One thing I found is that the colourized B&W layers need to be combined using the "Screen" mode, not "Multiply".
Just for the helluvit, I faked an insect's vision of a flower using the OP's layer replacements.  I don't have a UV image of the flower, so I used PSE's "Infrared effect" in the B&W conversion dialog.  That effect is certainly not the same as a UV image, but will have to do for this experiment.  When comparing my result with images on the Web that created a false colour image of insect vision, I saw that I needed to add a Brightness/Contrast layer at the top of the stack, with the Brightness set to -100 and the Contrast set to -50.  Here's what I ended up with:
    Original:
    False colour (insect vision):
I, too, am curious to see the OP's results.
    Thanks again for the inspiration!

  • Image Optimization for POD

Attempting to optimize a few images for a POD book, but consistency in image quality is the perrenial problem with POD. Received the first proof copy containing 24 black and white 7cm x 7cm images, all from the original publisher (we're doing a licensed translation) and seemingly of consistent qualitiy. 4 images turned out brilliant, and the rest, beyond mediocre, just inferior.
The photo files are EPS. All are showing as grayscale except for 2 which are color space RGB (Adobe RGB profile). Of those two, one is terrible like the majority (flat, washed out, looks almost solarized) and the other is brilliant. The other 3 images printing well, are in grayscale, so RGB doesn't seem to be conclusively part of the answer or problem.
All the rest are grayscale, and in ID the profiles show as NA.
Other than abandoning POD (impossible now, and past projects with similar images have turned out well), what can be done, what are the fundamentals of image optimization for this printing process?
    Thank you for the input.
    Luca

I assume that by POD you are referring to Print On Demand?
Quite frankly, the “problems” would seem to be more an issue of GIGO – Garbage In, Garbage Out – than anything to do directly with the file format of the images, especially if those images are monochrome.
I would strongly agree with Bob Levine in terms of EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) being an archaic file format. That having been said, a properly prepared photographic image with proper exposure, contrast, and resolution saved as EPS from Photoshop and placed in InDesign should render no differently than a TIFF, JPEG, or PDF (depending upon the compression used in the EPS) image without any ICC profiles placed into an InDesign document. I seriously doubt that simply converting your EPS files to TIFF would help in any way whatsoever, although in the process of simply opening the images in Photoshop, you might see what the real quality (or lack thereof) of the images is.
Many problems associated modern day monochrome images today is the fact that most such images were shot digitally as color images as opposed to being shot on black and white film. Unfortunately, there is no single conversion of color to monochrome that is optimal for all images. Much depends upon the exposure, light contrast, and especially the color contrasts within the original color image. In the days of analog film photography, professional photographers often used color filters with black and white film to deal with the issues of color contrast (for example, yellow and orange filters for outdoor scenic shots to provide for a darker sky with deeper contrast with the clouds, the “big sky” effect). Converting color digital images to monochrome by using the simplest Photoshop tools without regards to image content will definitely yield many suboptimal, washed-out looking images.
Also, after applying one or another of the Photoshop conversions to monochrome, the image usually is still RGB. One needs to then convert the image that looks grayscale to actual grayscale. Otherwise, you end up with an RGB image for which for every pixel R=G=B, a situation which could lead to some “interesting” and likely undesirable printed output, especially if printed on a color device.
Another issue to consider is one of color management. Whether one wants it or understands it, color management is really always on in Adobe applications. If you don't use profiles and the wrong assumption is made with regards to the color space of content, you can get suboptimal results, in grayscale such results being muddiness, poor contrast, etc. And to get back to the file format issue, EPS doesn't support ICC color management directly.

  • Check Focus Of An Image With Standard LABVIEW Functions

    Hi,
I would like to determine the best focus quality of a series of color images using standard LABVIEW functions, an example my images would be a 1mm x 2mm ROI of a copper coin or similar sample. I do not have the IMAQ vision toolkit so that will not be an option. Could somebody give me an example of this or point me in the direction I need to go. Is it better to check focus quality on the color image or a black and white image, or perhaps an intensity representation of the image? I have heard that checking the Standard Deviation of a line of pixels within the image would give a good indication of the focus quality by looking for the highest SD value of all the images?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Jimmy01,
I found this example which shows a couple ways to determine the best focus for your system: http://www.ni.com/example/28506/en/
I also found this example, although it uses the IMAQdx drivers.  So you'll have to modify it a bit to work with the IMAQ drivers, but it's doable: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-11090
It looks like these examples detect the best focus by measuring the sharpness of the edges.  A stronger edge means the camera is more in focus.  This is also what I was thinking before I found these.  I haven't been able to find anything about using the standard deviation of line pixels, as you mentioned.

  • DCT for Labview fpga

    Hi,
I have problems based on dct for labview fpga. I get the project example from this link https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-8202. I run the project in labview and its run succesfully. After that, I try to use a different vhdl code for the CLIP (in labview) that I get from open cores (http://opencores.org/project,dct_idct). I rewrite the fpga.vi by inserting a new vhdl code in the CLIP. When I run the project, there are no errors. However, the compressed image is not display. I check the output values from the Read from FPGA block at the host.vi and it shows zero values at all time. I try to debug, but still don't get the solution. Anyone expert please help me. Thanks in advance.

    Hey Troy,
Have a look at the attached front panel design that will be compatible in FPGA.
    Hopefully it helps!!

  • IMAGE STABILIZER for FCP

Does anyone know of a good Image Stabilizer (and image tracker) for FCP? I have tried the demo of CHVelectronis, and I couldn't figure it out. Avid has one that is extremely intuitive *but, obviously, it doesnt work with FCP).
Any of you worked with an easy to use one for FCP?
    Thanks,
    David

a stabilizer is built in ... the effect is called SmoothCam (Effects > Video Filters > Video > SmoothCam)
its best to export just the portion of the clip you want to stabilize as a standalone movie file before applying the effect to it as this will minimize the processing time
    http://audiovideoproducer.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=165367
for tracking you could use Lyric's Motion Tracking Kit
    http://www.lyric.com/fcp-plugins/tracking.htm
but I would use Motion's Match Move

  • Filters for FCP

Are there any sites that I could download filters for FCP such as grainy old film look, and a way to put a black halo around the video like you may see in the movie The Illusionist. The edges fade to a black and its in a oval shape around the video. Let me know.

A shaped soft edge vignette (as opposed to a simple
round darkening of the extremities) can be prepared
in Photoshop to the pixel count of your image.
I'm doing this in HDV a lot recently.
    In that frame size, I make a 1440 x 1080 pixel
rectangle and have PS adjust it for HDV aspect. There
are quite a few ways of shaping the frame. Paint,
    blur selection and invert, etc.
When you have a frame you like, import it into FCP as
a JPEG or as a PS layer with a Blending mode already
in place. Float that above your image or sequence and
make the Blending mode Multiply, for instance.
    Instant shaped frame.
A similar path can matte fancy titles, crawls and
    stuff.
Thanks Peter. I had an idea similar to that just was too lazy to do it. Thanks I will take your advice and make a vinette in photoshop. Do you have a link where I could preview your videos? You can see my videos at web.mac.com/sxeseis

  • POWER GLITCHES MAY HAVE CAUSED BAD IMAGE MESSAGE FOR NIMAXCFG.DLL... HOW CAN I FIX IT?

bad weather in the midwest caused power glitches.
computer running win 2000 with LabView 7.x now reports "Bad Image" message for NIDACQCFG.dll.
looking for suggestions on how to fix the problem...
i am trouble-shooting remotely in another state.

Your title says NIMAXCFG.dll, but your subject says NIDACQCFG.dll (though I think you meant NIDAQCFG.dll), so I'm not sure which one you're referring to, or whether you're referring to both. The second DLL would be from DAQ, though I'm not sure if it comes from Traditional DAQ or DAQmx. Which one do you have installed? You'd likely need to reinstall it.
