Image flickering on 2nd monitor

Ever since I installed ML on my MacBook Pro 13", the image on my external monitor (Gateway 20") has been flickering, making it impossible to work on — any idea what to do about it?

I am having a similar issue - I have a mid 2010 13 macbook pro with a 22 inch AOC monitor connected via minport to vga.  The external monitor filckering artifacts - almost like refresh atrifacts in random parts of the screen.  It happens constantly and did NOT happen in Lion. After some testing is seems to happen in the higher resolutions including 'best for display' setting of 1920x1080.  What chnaged in Mountain Lion display driver?

  • Lightroom 4.2 - Experiencing problems with images viewed on 2nd monitor

    Hi All,
This problem seems to have started with my updating from 4.1 to 4.2.  I have my second monitor set as Loupe - Normal and Fit.  As I crop an image on my main monitor, the 2nd monitor view does not always change to the cropped view.  If I switch to a different photo and then back to the one I just cropped, the 2nd monitor view will then show the cropped image, but it is almost always blurry.  Sometimes I can click the image in the 2nd monitor view to change to a 1:1 view and it will look sharp, and then click again back to Fit and then it too will be sharp.  Other times I get a message in the 2nd monitor view that says "no image selected" and bouncing back and forth between a different image will correct this.
This all started off with the majority, but not all cropped images showing as blurred and progressed to what I have described above.  I seriously though I had a focus problem with my camera!
Is anyone else experinecing this since updating?  Suggestions?
Below is the suggested information to provide...
    What version of Lightroom? 4.2
Have you installed the recent updates? Yes, 4.2
What operating system? Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
What kind(s) of image file(s)? All images are converted to .dng upon import
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? No error messages.
What were you doing when the problem occurred? I am in the develop module cropping images etc.
What other software are you running? Silver Efex Pro 2, but I have had that installed in many prior versions of Lightroom
Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed? 32 GB - Yes, I know - overkill...
How much free space is on your system (C:) drive? 119 GB of 223 GB of my solid state drive c:\
Has this ever worked before? Yes
If so, do you recall any changes you made to Lightroom, such as adding Plug-ins, presets, etc.? No other changes other than updating to 4.2
Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers, or installing/uninstalling any programs?  No, no other changes.
    Thanks!

  • Lightroom 4.3 - Focus problems with images viewed on 2nd monitor

I had this problen on 4.2 and heard there was a fix, but alas the problem has cropped up for me agian.  2nd monitor in Loupe Mode.  It doesn't seem to render the image, it's just soft, on the verge of pixalation. The quickest solution is to quit LR and re-satrt and it works for a while.

  • Strange behaviour of 2nd monitor full screen image

    Hi,
Since last night, my LR5 is starting to behave very strangely with my 2nd monitor image. My 2nd monitor has been set to "Show, Full Screen and Loupe-Normal", and I have always been using this two monitor set up to show my image in full screen mode (since LR4) without problems. But since last night, the 2nd monitor image starts to minimize itself randomly. If I click the 2nd monitor icon (on the bottom left of main screen) it comes back. Then when I moven to the next photo, it may disappear (minimize) again. It is very frustrating. I never changed any of my settings. Is there anything that I missed? What makes the 2nd monitor image go away? Anybody experienced the same phenomenom?
    Thanks in advance.

  • "Duplicate" Capability on "2nd Monitor"

I'd like to see a "Duplicate" view added to the current “Loupe /Grid / Compare / Survey” options that would send the same image to a "2nd monitor".
This would provide the ability to project the same image using a different monitor calibration profile that would be more consistent with image on your laptop/desktop.  This would be especially useful when teaching or lecturing using Lightroom.

Can you clarify Bob, I'm not following you exactly.  You just want the same photo on primary and secondary windows, or something further?

  • Open image on 2nd monitor

In CS4 can't figure out how to open an image on 2nd monitor. Have to go under my workspace on the pallet's monitor and drag it over.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I use my Apple Cinema Display as my primary monitor. I do use the application frame though do not HAVE to. But I then have used all the pallets that I can open and have dragged them onto my laptop. So I can then use the F key to go to full screen on my ACD and still use the tab key to see all the pallets but can keep them on the laptop screen and use anytime during editing. This is the only way I can figure out how to have a full screen image and the tools on the other scree, the laptop.
I then use the F key only to go to a toolbar that may have some options needed. Like changing sponge from saturate to desaturate.
This seems to work the best. I then saved this desktop arrangement as Dual Monitor and can go to Essential or anything else when needed.
    Hope that helps...

  • Menus flickering / not working on 2nd monitor

I'm using FireFox 7 and it's worked great until just a few days ago when on the 2nd monitor the drop down menus are really bugged. They flicker to start then become unusable. I use 3 monitors and it's only on the 2nd monitor that it does this. I can't think of any recent changes to the computer that would cause this to start happening =/. I run Win 7 64 bit. Intel Q9550 2.83ghz with 8 gig memory. Graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295.

    bump.

  • IMac does not detect correct resolution of 2nd monitor

I am attempting to use my 42" LG HDTV as a 2nd monitor for my iMac. The native resolution for the LG is 1920x1080 but the iMac only allows me to select up to 1600x1200. It seems to think that the LG is a smaller screen than the iMac as well and my images are stretched. The monitors are also disproportionate, for example, if I expand a window so that there is an inch of space on all 4 sides on my iMac it will overwhelm the screen of the larger monitor so that only about 2/3 of the window is visible. It's as if the iMac thinks that the LG is in 4:3 display mode.
I am using a mini-DVI to VGA adapter. How can I get full resolution from my 2nd monitor?

The (analog) VGA connection is limiting your resolution. Idealy a (digital) Mini-DVI to DVI adapter and a DVI cable should allow the full resolution in Extended Desktop Mode.

  • Can the 2nd monitor be an extended desktop?

i know its a silly and simple question but im new to hooking up a second monitor. So if i get the right connector from the apple store and hook up a second monitor can it be an extended desktop or will it only be a mirrored image?

Can the 2nd monitor be an extended desktop?
    Yes.

  • Keeping a 2nd monitor in Grid mode

    Hello,
I'm trying to keep a 2nd monitor locked into grid mode? For example when editing; monitor 1 is in Loupe mode, 2nd in Grid mode when I do a find the monitors will switch modes? So the 2nd goes from grid to loupe and the main monitor goes to grid mode.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Jeff

    I guess it's a bug.
(In case you wonder about my setup: my second monitor is smaller and I prefer to use it for tool panels etc. It would also be ideal to carry the Lightroom grid view by default for quick navigation, while working on the individual images on the first monitor. Not too far-fetched a setup, I guess.)
No it's by design. The grid on the second monitor is actually a vertically stretched version of the filmstrip. So, you can forget any ideas about being able to edit multiple images on the second monitor.

  • 2nd Monitor ICC profile in Acrobat 9

    Hi,
I have problem with iMac24" dual monitor setup and Acrobat 9 Pro. I can't get the second monitor ICC profile applied to the pdf document when dragged to the the second monitor. Had the same problem with PhotoShop CS4. I spent several day to figure out why the second monitor looks totally over saturated with PS CS4 (looked fine with PS CS3) and yes indeed the solution was to turn OFF OpenGL in PS preferences. Still have the same problem with Acrobat 9 Pro.  When the document is dragged to other monitor the ICC profile of that monitor is not applied. Any idea how to get that working as I can't find the OpenGL setting in Acrobat 9 . I have iMac24" and HP LP2475w as a secondary monitor which is wide gamut monitor which is far too over saturated without proper ICC. Any ideas?

    Jao...
Does the secondary monitor always assume it will open in the monitor which WinXP defines in settings as '2'?
The reason I ask, is that if I have the secondary monitor open as "full screen" it opens on the 2nd monitor.
However, I have a slightly different set up. I have my primary LR space stretched some into the 2nd monitor, so that the right hand panels are on the second screen. This gives me a larger space to view the images on the main screen. When I open the secondary LR space, it is not full screen, but sized to just fit in the rest of the available space on the second monitor....and I usually use this space for the 'grid' of thumbnails.
My concern is that if the secondary LR space is even slightly larger than the available space on the secondary monitor, it will pop up in the middle of the primary monitor. After much trial and error, I found the sizing solution and it works....
However, since it seems to open either in #1 or #2 screen, I still have this nagging question....and there is no way I know to query LR to know what ICC profile is being used.
    Thanks...JOHN

  • 2nd monitor ICC profile?

When using the dual monitor support in LR2, if it is opened in the 2nd monitor, is it aware of the different icc profile for this monitor or does it use the profile of the primary monitor?
Can you manually change the profile used?
Can you interrogate LR (main screen and/or dual screen) to see what profile is being used?
I am using WinXP, but the video card I use looks like two cards and windows has a different default profile for each. Many cards do not do that, which is where being able to manually enter an icc profile would be useful.

  • Develop Mode 2nd Monitor not showing edit adjustments

I am using Lightroom 4.1 RC2 on a Windows 7 64 bit system with dual monitors. When I am in the develop mode and make edit adjustments on any setting the 2nd monitor does not update. If I move to another image then come back the image is updated but it does not work in real time. I have never had this problem before and it worked fine in Lightroom V4.0

    It's a bug in LR4.1 RC2.
The workaround seems to be to increase the size of the Standard Preview setting (File Handling tab of the Catalog Settings)....go up at least one setting (e.g. if it's currently 1024 change it to 1440 or 1680). No need to recreate your previews, just increasing the setting seems to work in most cases.
You might also, without realising it, be suffering a fairly dramatic memory leak which is also stopped by changing the settings.

  • Clitching H264 Playback on 2nd monitor - 17" MacBook Pro/NVIDIA

I have used Keynote professionally for many years, and often use H264 compressed videos (that I have created in After Effects). This has always worked very well until the last few weeks when I noticed that every now and then there is a glitch in the playback of H264 movies when a 2nd monitor/video projector is attached.
Glitch description: A completely random flash/breakup of the image that lasts for single frame - similar to the old flash frame you used to get when playing back MPEG2 movies in PowerPoint. This does not cause the video to stop playing, but is annoying when using it in a profesional presentation. It is also completely random and occurs at least once a minute during playback. This only occurs on the new MacBook Pro's that have the NVIDIA graphics card. It does not occur when using the laptop's LCD display only - ie: no 2nd output used. It does occur on the laptop's LCD if a second display/projecter is plugged in. This does also not occur on my ATI equiped MacBook Pro 15" or my G5 or my iMac.
It appears to be a problem with the NVIDIA card.

    hi!
i got the same problem with the 15 inch 2.4 Macbook Pro and

  • Plugin opening on 2nd monitor

I have a 2nd monitor hooked up to my Macbook pro. I have the mixer on the 2nd monitor however whenever I open a plugin for the first time it always opens on the laptop screen, even though I open it from the mixer on the second monitor.
