Image glitch when printing to Panther Pro RIP

I'm having random issues when printing separations to a PantherPro 46 imagesetter from Indesign CS4 (processes through the PantherPro RIP on an OS9 computer ... super old, I know).  An image will randomly shift in the box.  (see example of what was imaged to film).
This is what I have collected: It happens only on images within a pdf.  Happens on either 4-color separations or Composite Gray.   When we find the glitch, we cannot replicate the issue when printing a second time to the same imagesetter.
The printer manufacturer only suggested that we print a postscript file to the imagesetter instead of the native file.  Thoughts/suggestions?

  • Xerox 8560DN pauses when printing from MacBook Pro (Maverick update)

Xerox 8560DN pauses when printing from MacBook Pro using the printer connected to a Windows XP machine. The printer is fully shared, however when I print, it goes to PAUSE. It displays...Ready to print > Printing > and it pauses.
The Maverick update has changed lots of unecessary setups. What was perfectly working before, not it causes problems.
    Any solution?

    Carolyn Samit,
I did it several times without any success. I think that the Maverick update damaged something.
I also deleted, added and change all settings... Not working. Xerox does not have a Maverick driver available, but today apple released a Xerox printer software update (Version 2.3). After the installation, nothing changed.

  • Poor Image Quality when Printing PDF from Office 07 using Acrobat 9 Pro Ext

    Hi there,
Hoping to figure out why my images (jpegs, gifs, pngs, etc) seem to print in very poor quality when printing from Powerpoint and Word 2007?
When I actually print out the pdf onto paper, the images seem fine. The image quality is also good in Word and Excel
I did not have this problem using Office 2003 products.
Is this a common problem? I realize that the problem maybe Office related but any help or information appreciated.
    Thanks

If the images' file format is PNG or TIFF you could play with the compression settings available in Acrobat's Preferences.
Edit > Preferences > select the Category "Convert to PDF".
In the"Converting To PDF" pane, select PNG or TIFF.
Then, click on the Edit Settings" button.
For either image format you could try one of the Lossless compression routines.
    Be well...

When printing to my Laserjet pro 200 color MFP M276nw, the pages are all blank.  I have tried turning the printer off and tried unplugging and replugging.  That didn't help.  Pages are still blank.  Any suggestions?

  • Poor Image Quality when printing in Pages

I created small (150 x 100 pixel at 72 dpi) images for printing on a one-page flyer in Pages. I dragged and dropped them into place, and things look great on the monitor. But when I print (using a Canon MX310) all-in-one, the images look bad - they are not looking crisp and sharp like they should. I have done everything on my printer settings I can - setting it to FINE quality, photo paper, etc. but they still look bad. Any ideas? I had tried this same thing in InDesign but there I got definitely jagged images on output. The images are TIFFs. I tried a different Canon ip3500 desktop printer, but to no avail.

    You need +at least+ 200dpi.
300dpi is recommended to get fine detail.
The size of the image has nothing to do with it, it is how many pixels you have per inch on the page.
Obviously 72dpi has chunky pixels that you can see with your naked eye.
The other thing is where did you get the images from? If they came from the Web then they are probably highly compressed and have compression artifacts which are painfully obvious when printing.
Just changing formats is not going to do anything. What's that they say about a sow's ear…?

  • Lightroom 2.5 Image Size When Printing

I have searched and tried several approaches, but cannot get LR to adjust an image size correctly when printing.
For example, I have a Lab Test Page tif image that has a document size of 23" W x 29" H and a resolution of 180 ppi.
I can use CSR 4 Image/Image Size to change this to 8" W x 10.5" H and a resolution of 320 ppi using resampling. The reduced image prints correctly in CSR 4 on 8.5" x 11" paper and results in .25" margins top and bottom. The same thing happens in LR 2.5 with the size reduced image.
However, if I try to print the original image using LR 2.5 to automatically resize the image it does not work correctly. I have tried all sorts of combinations of settings to get it to reduce the image (as is done in CSR 4) and print with .25" top/bottom margins without success. The image fails to resize correctly.
Is this a bug, a feature??, or operator error? Can anyone tell how to make LR 2.5 automatically resize so it prints correctly? I have tested this on other computers with the same results.
    Thanks

    Go to print module.
    Select Print to jpg.
Set the resolution at 180 ppi.
Other output settings, sharpening, paper profile as required.
Set the margin sizes as required.
Set the cell size to the size of the image
Set the Custom File Dimensions to the size of the paper...29" x 23" in this case.
You can drag the Cell size and the various borders around until you get exactly the lay out on paper you require. Then when finished hit print to file, name the file and the job is done.
If you want to print a a different size, with a different resolution, on different sized paper, with different borders all this can be done in the print module and it is WYSIWYG so no guess work (or calculations) involved. Using LR rather than PS for this also has the advantage of using much better algorithms for upsizing images than PS and applying output sharpening for the specific media type you intend to print to, all using the RAW data

  • Issues with image centering when printing from CS5

I contacted EPSON tech support about this issue, they are putting the blame on the application used - in my case Photoshop CS5 printing with an EPSON R2880.
I am trying to figure out exact print tray margins to take into account when printing horizontal 13x19 images on EPSON's Hot Press 13x19 paper on the R2880 (via manual roll single feeder).
These are not borderless full frame images, 13x19 image files set on white with exact white frames around the image, so the shift in centering becomes quite obvious on the print.
Here are the two print settings I have tried, both do not center the image correctly:
Selected Scale to Fit Media & Center Image Top:0 Left 0.105
Selected Center Image: Top: -10,152 Left -0.118
(margin values are entered in the print window automatically)

u are probably not getting much help on this unless you post screenshot of your process (starting with File> Print window)
remember, Photoshop can print a document correct regardless of how it looks on the monitor (and vice versa: Photoshop can display a document correct regardless of how it prints)
i recommend getting a known target like the WhackedRGB.jpg and see where the problem is occuring (in Photoshop color management settings, on the monitor, on the printer or both)...

  • Images cropped when printing

In Photoshop Elements 10, when I attempt to print 5X7 images on an 8.5X11 sheet in landscape mode, it reduces the image size to 3.5X4 and crops the image. The image appears correct in the print preview, but reduces and crops when printed. I have printed on both my Epson and my HP with the same results. If I open the image in Photoshop 7, it prints fine. Can anyone help?

Can you post a screen shot of your Print dialog from Photoshop Elements, it sounds like a setting might be off.

  • Reducing an image dimensions when printing?

The image I created is much larger than the final size needs to be.  Nominally letter to Bisiness card. How can I reduce the dimensions of the image so it prints at the correct size?

Normally, one would create at final size.
What tool did you use to create the file? - that would be the first choice for editting.

  • Image issue when printing

I use Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. In my job I am responsible for training materials. I often convert pptx or docx into pdfs and never had a problem with images but now I do. PDFs show as being successful and everything looks good on the screen but once I print some images look really bad (pixel). Others don't.
When I pdf a pptx in slides view or handout view everything looks good when I print it. When I pdf the same document in notes page view it looks horrible.
I called the vendor who created the training material and they confirmed having heard of such a problem before but they are not having the issue with the particular material now.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,

  • Strange colors when printing (lightroom & epson pro 3800)

After buying a new computer I'm having printing problems in lightroom.
Printing with other software (photoshop for example) works flawless.
I've used new and old drivers for my printer: didn't change a thing
I've looked at different printing profiles, custom or letting the printer handle it: hardly any improvement
The problems appairs with lightroom 2.4 64bit installed on a windows vista 64bit version.
The printer I'm using is a epson pro 3800. Normally i would say it's a driver problem.. (on my old computer (xp 32bit) it's works fine) but the problem only appairs in lightroom. And i used a few drivers. I must be missing a setting or something.
    Does anybody have an idea?
You can look at the attachment to see the problem i'm having.
    Thanks in advance

I am also suffering with the light room print module.
My Eizo monitor is calibrated with a Gretag Macbeth i1Pro.
My printer profiles are paper and ink specific.
In CS3 my working color space is Adobe RGB(1998) and my prints are a perfect match to the monitor appearance on both an Epson Photo 2200 as well as an HP Pro B9180.
I understand that there is no soft proofing option in LR 2, but is there any work around to change the working color space in LR to Adobe RGB(1998) and get a decent print without kicking the image over to CS3 first? Since both products are from Adobe, I don't understand why they should be working at cross purposes.
I went to Photo Expo in NYC today, but unfortunately Adobe did not take their usual booth at the Javits Center so that I might address the question to an Adobe specialist.
    Thanks

  • Image moves when printed from SAP queue versus Adobe Reader.

I've got a form with a image embedded into it that serves as a background watermark.
This document is usually printed from Adobe Reader, however some users have requested the ability to print directly to a SAP printer without using Adobe Reader to print using windows drivers.
When the form is sent to a SAP printer the image watermark is for some reason moved about 3mm to the right which causes the watermark not to align with the Text Fields that also print on the form.  The text fields do not move, they print in exactly the same spot with either print method.  Only the image seems to be affected.
Has anyone run into this?  The image is an embeded .png file that is set to Scale Image Poportionally in the sizing options.
    Thanks for any input!

    Thank you for your replies.
I looked at the notes you suggested and it does seem related to the extra margin added to documents printed to PCL-5.
If I use LiveCycle to set an image field .5mm from the left edge of the page, and then print it from SAP directly and then from Adobe Reader I see two different things.
Adobe Reader (with page scaling option turned off) will simply omit anything that falls outside the printable range.
SAP  will move the omitted content into the printable area.  This is what is causing my image watermark not to align properly with the text in front of it.  The image field was too close to the left margin and so in the process of printing, SAP has moved it over to fit in the printable area.
It seems I can fix this issue for my particular requirement by creating a new image field that has the extra white space removed so that I can keep the image field farther away from the left edge of the page.
Not sure if there is some way to change the way the drivers for device type HPLJ4 are handling these margins, but it will likely just be easier to change the images to move them further from the edge which seems to fix it.

  • Image Distortion When Printing

Had an ad supplied for a book that was printed digitally. Entire book printed fine except for page with this ad. I got an image drop shadow, but it was way out of position and distorted. Printed claimed it was a bad PDF. All's I did was place a customer-supplied PDF on the page in InDesign, then exported entire book to print-ready PDF. It was fine throughout all proof stages, but when book delivered, I got the strange image distortion. ???
    Thanks.

    Hi peterpica,
You might try printing this image with a different printer and then check.
What version of Acrobat are you using?
There might be some problem of low resolution from the printer.
So, please check and let me know.

  • Still image size when importing to Premiere Pro CS3

I was wondering if someone could help me.  I do a lot of Still Image Slide shows with music and all that jazz and I used to use Premiere 6.5.  When I would import the still images I could just lock the aspect ratio and it would automatically size the picture to fit the screen.  I recently upgraded to CS3 and when I try to import a photo it imports it at actual image size so if the pic to too big it just looks zoomed in.  I'm wonder if there is a setting in I can adjust so it autosizes the pic like it did in version 6.5?  It may sound lazy but I do these with a lot of picture and I don't have time to adjust the size of each photo in Photoshop prior to import.
I have figured out a temporary workaround where I import the files into 6.5 and then open the existing project in CS3 but my new computer runs Vista and it's not allowing me to install 6.5 on it.  I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

I copied this from the help.
    Scale assets automatically
1 Choose Edit > Preferences > General (Windows) or Premiere Pro > Preferences > General
2 Select Default Scale To Frame Size.(Mac OS).
    3 Click OK.

  • FCP/AJA IoLA audio glitches when printing 4 channel audio to Digibeta

Hi...trying to troubleshoot my wife's machine at here office.
    G5 DP2.7GHz
    8GB RAM
    FCP Studio
    AJA IoLA
Sony DVW A500 Digital Betacam Deck
    DVCPro 50 footage (SDX900)
DVCPro 50 sequence for editing the show
10bit NTSC sequence for graphics & printing to tape
Have updated all drivers & firmware. This is the 2nd different DigiBeta deck we've tried, as well.
Sending TV show episodes to tape, network requires 4-channel: 2 stereo, 2 discreet.
When the sound on the music channel drops completely away, we can see and hear pops hitting on the audio meter. It seems to be little glitches from other channels popping in and out of channel 4. Sometimes it's a voice. Sometimes it's nat sound.
Probably happening all the time, but it's only visible/audible when it's isolated. It doesn't seem to do it on any other channel.
These audio files are mastered in ProTools and brought into the timeline as one long file for each segment, so there are no parts of the sequence that have nothing there.
The pops do not show up on the Final Cut mixer.
The pops only show up when either viewing on external monitor or printing to tape.
    Audio is 48K.
All we can do to get rid of them is keyframe the mixer to pull all sound out of that track once the music fades down. Sure, no big process, but our sound mixer is already doing that in ProTools. It's doing the same thing twice. There's nothing there, so why should we have to bring it down on every show?

    Tried this today.
Contacted AJA tech support yesterday and he had me revert from driver v2.1 back to 2.0. Wouldn't print at all, then, so we moved back to 2.1.
We can print now, but still having the pop issue.
