Image in MAIL

I know that some time ago I put a picture (of myself) to be used in outgoing Mail. In the meantime, I lost/misplaced my "how-to" reference. I'd like to change again it, but can't find any instructions Tried this "Support," Google without any luck how to go about it. Would someone out there in Macland please help me?

Thomas,
First up, that image is not sent with the mail. It's used only on your machine. You'll find it in the address book with whichever contact is associated with that email address.

Captfred

    How can you add an image in Mail without being an attachment?
    In otherwords I'd like to put my logo in the email not as an attachment but as an image.
    Is there a simpel solution to this problem?

    You don't.
    It's not possible. The e-mail protocol is designed for text; anything else has to go as an attachment.
    Different mail clients (such as Mail.app, the mail client bundled with Mac OS X) may have different ways of handling such attachments, but they are still attachments. Each mail client has its own rules and methods, so one may display a picture as if it were in the body of the message, but another client may do something completely different.
    A way of faking it is to format your message in HTML (which is a kind of text). The image is hosted on a remote server, not added to the message; instead, you include a link to it in the body of the message, as you would when building a web page. (This is also what the two tips helpfully provided by X423424X do, except that the link to the image is added in the signature, rather than the body of the message.) What exactly happens to it is, again, at the discretion of the mail client. In my case, for instance, displaying images in HTML messages is turned off, and will stay resolutely off.

  • No longer able to attach .jpg images in Mail...

    I'm having problems attaching .jpg images in Mail. This problem started two or three days ago. I can attach .zip files, but I'm unable to attach .pdf or .jpg files. I have not tried other formats, as these are the two most common formats used.
    Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Cheers. -m

    There was a discussion posted on this a while back:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1545970&start=0&tstart=0
    I get this problem on my PPC, but not my Intel machine. Instead of using Server Admin, best to set this value (maxAttachmentSize) in the /etc/wikid/wikid.conf file. The value in Server Admin will still show '0', but I was still able to attach files up to the size I specified in the wikid.conf file.

  • Sending image in mail

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to send image in mail.
    I got a code from a post which is as following :
    import javax.mail.* ;
    import javax.mail.internet.* ;
    import java.util.Properties;
    class SimpleMail1 {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception{
            System.out.println("Sending mail...");
            Properties props = new Properties();
            props.setProperty("mail.transport.protocol", "smtp");
            props.setProperty("mail.host", "smtp.mymailserver.com");
            props.setProperty("mail.user", "myuser");
            props.setProperty("mail.password", "mypwd");
    Session mailSession = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);
            mailSession.setDebug(true);
            Transport transport = mailSession.getTransport();
    MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(mailSession);
            message.setSubject("HTML  mail with images");
    // write sender's and recpient's email address
       message.setContent
              (" img src=image_path" + "html/text");;
            transport.connect();
            transport.sendMessage(message,
                message.getRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO));
            transport.close();
    Here, the image is being taken from an internet link whereas I am working on Linux server.
    If I place a file on some location on the server, how to get the file from this location in this code?
    Regards,
    Nikhil

    Cary,
    I got your email overnight.
    The 5 attachments are full size JPEG files, and the overall size of the message is 4.5 MB. Three of them have been compressed more than the other two, which you can see looking at the file sizes shown in the attached screenshot I sent back to you, but all of them decompress into full size photos of good size.
    You may have muddied the water slightly, by Forwarding rather than sending a new message as you did originally. That can easily be checked if you open the message as originally sent, click on Message in the menubar and choose Send Again -- then change the To address to mine.
    However, I think there is another issue causing the message to be sent in Rich Text Format, which causes some conversion of text to HTML, which then is problematic to some email clients some recipients use on Windows computers, notably Outlook and Outlook Express. Specifically, the file name of each photo appearing beneath and between each attachment can cause this, as could multiple fonts (but you did have that). To stop the file name printing, which is coming from iPhoto's preparation of the message, change the selection in the Email dialogue in iPhoto to deselect Include Title and Include Comments.
    Then be sure to send all such messages in Plain Text, and be sure to use Windows Friendly if not already.

  • Images in mail are not shown after ios8 update

    After update iOS8 the images attached in mails are not shown constantly, I configured my iPhone and iPad to show the images in mails but it is not working all time.
    The issue is with photos sent from my ip cameras, these are showing for one mail and for other not.
    Thanks in advance.

    Actually yes!
    I'm not familiar with fuse, but I found the action in line one of your third frame (on the main timeline) dubious, and a quick search lead me to try "portfolio._brightness = 0;" as first line (and I commented out the original line) that worked.
    My quess is that whatever template or original file you've been modifing/adjusting used some kind of color-fade in at that point, and you somehow broke it.
    To me it looks ok without it, but you let me know if you need further guesswork from me.
    cheers

  • Cannot view images in Mail

    Hi All
    Strange one, but ever since moving to Snow Leopard on the MacBook Pro, images will not load in the viewing screen of Mail. I have fiddled with the 'Display Remote Messages in HTML' preference, and for a second when I tick/un-tick that box I can see the image in Mail, before it disappears again.
    I have never had this issue before...and the only new thing is moving to the MacBook Pro (via Time Machine) with Snow Leopard.
    Any help on this would be great, as with my business I am unable to view stats in vital emails.
    Tar

    I've been having this issue since Tiger and cannot fix it (unless I reformat my mac and start from scratch). There has to be a corrupt preference file somewhere. Basically, no matter what option I choose in mail (either display remote images or no), the images NEVER display. It's something within my mail files as when I installed 10.6, I went with a fresh install, but manually copied over my mail and prefs.
    It's been an issue for 2+ years. I have an old thread on these boards that never got to the bottom of it then, either. Argh.

  • Missing "load all images" in Mail iOS6

    Hello,
    I missing the option "load all images" in Mail of iOS 6. I use iPod Touch 32 GB 4. generation.
    This feature is on my iPhone and my iPad, but not on iPod touch. Why not?
    Greetings, Bernd

    It sounds as if your LR is using an old catalog(ue).  It's unlikely that you've lost your images, you are just seing the old images previews that are part of an old catalog(ue).  Can you not find the later catalog(ue) and open that or, if not, restore from a LR backup.

  • Resize Images in Mails

    Is there any possibility to adjust the size of of the preview of an image attachment?
    I've read that if you insert a image in a mail, you can do so in the bottom right corner but I have nothing there.
    Would be very glad for any help!
    Thanks!

    An image from the web is not definitive, and not what the button is designed for. Typically an image from the web is not an attachment, unless you first download and see that it has an extension of .jpg or other photo format type.
    The "optical size", if I understand your meaning is not needed in Mail with a true photo file attachment -- Mail will fit the image in the window you have for the message.
    The image size button is normally needed to downsize a photo file to what will allow it to send -- for example from 15 MB to say maybe 800 KB. With either size image file, Mail would display it within the limits of the current window.
    It sounds to me that you are talking about images in HTML and wanting to resize those within the text, and not an attachment such as a photo taken with a digital camera.

  • Downloading images in Mail messages

    What can I do to see images is mail that are shown only by the box with the Question mark in it? I find it frustrating as some of the images are important to the particular message. Thanks for any advice.

    Greetings,
    You've posted in the Leopard forum, even though you're running Snow Leopard. You need to pay closer attention to be sure you're posting in the correct forum for the OS you're running. I will have the moderators move it.
    What can do to get the images to move again in [M]ail.
    You can't. The ability to see moving .gif images in Mail was removed in Leopard, without any notice by Apple. You can send them to others, but you won't see them move if they are sent to you.

  • Images in Mail messages NOT moving

    I used to have messages with .gif images show the movement in the message window. Now when I check my email and it has an image which is supposed to wave, or walk, etc. there is no movement unless I drag it to the desktop and open it in preview, but then it only shows a set of images which will move if you click through them fast enough.
    What can do to get the images to move again in mail.

  • OS X LION Issues with Full-Screen; iPhoto, Image Capture & Mail

    Hello,
    I'm experiencing un-Apple-like issues (bugs) with Lion in Full-Screen mode.
    For example - iPhoto doesn't seem to like Full-Screen mode. If iPhoto is open and I connect a camera, for which I prefer Image Capture to retrieve my pics... Image Capture opens 'behind' the full-screen iPhoto, but I can't get to it. Image Capture shows as open on the menu bar in iPhoto's full-screen mode. If I go to the desktop (where it should be opening) Image Capture isn't 'on top' and clicking it takes me back to iPhoto full-screen
    Similarly, if I get mail and return to the desktop (the only way to see the dock) and I click on the 'Mail' app icon - I am catapulted into Image Capture... or iPhoto. Returning to the Desktop to click the Mail icon from the dock... takes me to Image Capture... or iPhoto. The 3rd try takes me to the Mail.app which is usually always open and in full-screen mode.
    While I'm complaining about bugs, I'd like to mention that I am fully dismayed by the loss of control in full-screen mode when using apps such as Mail or iPhoto. The Mail app opens an email to edit (such as a reply) but you can't access any other mail docs to 'cut and paste' info from. I can only click SEND or CANCEL.
    What if I don't want to CANCEL? I just want to go to another email and cut a piece to paste.. I have to exit full-screen mode which allows me to open two email documents at once, then cut and paste. Essentially Mail in Full-Screen is only a reader... not a work area. I can only access the document I have open, since it greys out the Message Viewer. You can't click on the message viewer nor access any of the features of Mail.app. You can only write your email and either Cancel or Send. Where is the 'hold on a second while I go cut and paste'? I don't want to cancel.
    Can't seem to use Safari since I'm constantly three-finger swiping it away. My cursor hovers over a text field and suddenly it's zooming in and locks text input. I have to iPhone-like swipe to expand to exit this inadvertent partial (very slight) zoom. Sometimes the zoom is so partial that I can't figure out what's going on until I just exit full-screen mode, close the window and start over.
    Seems like I'm starting over and over and over... just to do simple things. Inadvertent zooming, inadvertent 3-finger returning to Desktop, inadvertent changing apps... ugh.
    I'm willing to let go of the old and embrace the new future but so far it's been pretty uncomfortable for me to constantly monitor my overly sensitive trackpad gesturing combined with constant bugs and glitches. I'll save complaining about iPhoto's over-simplification (apparently for dummies) like the new Edit menu, Export menu, etc.. since it's more iLife than Lion related. Rate Lion: 2 out of 5 stars for ease of use & features complicated by unrefined software issues.

    I've tried follwoing these instructions but I have an issue with
    # Create snort user. The intention is to let user snort have access only to the snort database.
    $ sudo createuser -U _postgres -P snort
    Password:
    Enter password for new role:
    Enter it again:
    Shall the new role be a superuser? (y/n) n
    Shall the new role be allowed to create databases? (y/n) n
    Shall the new role be allowed to create more new roles? (y/n) n
    It keeps telling me "could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory"
    I'm running OSX Mountain Lion, and have verified using serveradmin status postgres that it is up and running.

  • Display images in mail selectively

    We all know downloading images verifies addresses to spammers. So, I turn off the load images setting. On page 128 of the iPad Users Guide it says I carload images after opening. It does not say how and I cannot find a way. If I want to avoid opening I must now manually filter mail and then turn on image loading and remember to turn it off when done.
    Is there in fact a way to load images after opening? Or, is there a way to not open mail until directed to open - like a double tap from the list?

    Babu,
    Do search the forum before putting the issues. This issue has been discussed many times.

  • Pasting images into Mail results in a hypertext link, not the image itslef?

    Hello
    I'm posting on behalf of a friend. He tells me that when he copies an image (e.g., from within Safari) and pastes into the body of a Mail message, this results in a link not the image.
    However, when I receive the message, I see the image in the body.
    The question is, is there a way to have the image appear in the email message he's composing vs. a hyperlink?
    N.B. when copying the image he is choosing "Copy Image" not "Copy Link"
    Thanks

    He could just drag-and-drop the image from Safari to his desktop, then drag-and-drop it to the email (or use Add Attachment).  Or maybe he could just drag-and-drop it straight from Safari into a new email, without copy-and-pasting at all?

  • How to enable images in Mail?

    I wanted to be able to view images in my email, but it seemed that I couldn't
    I have searched the forum - no answer to be found
    Apple Mail v 5.3 (1283) What I have is an oblong box containing a blue square with a question mark in it.
    I have gone thru every possible setting I can think of (including checking allow remote html images).
    The box in the message is not clickable, I don't know if the image is embedded in the message or remote html - I have no way of telling.
    Now I will answer - just in case what I found helps anyone else!

    You say you have the box checked
    You can always try the plug-in "Attachment Tamer" for more control. Free Trial.
