Image incomplete

Hi,
Thanks in advance for any help. This is the first time I have any problems with iDVD burning discs.
I have an 86 minute, 2.6 gb iDVD movie made in iMovie, all 06 versions.
It ejects disc and says "current operation", "image incomplete", after normal burn time. I have burned 100's of discs and have never had this problem. I tried cleaning up permissions, restart, log out and back in, clean cashe, I also freed up some hard drive memory. I have tried both internal and external DVD burners. I forgot about the old and tried method of deleting preferences and did this too, and I am trying a new burn. I did not change anything before this problem happened.

Hi
Did You select an encoding version that can handle > 60 min eg Best (High) Quality.
Do You have minimum 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ?
Has to. iDVD can't use any other as scrap-disk neither can Mac OS.
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem* - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
• Program miss-match: iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match: iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
iDVD pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named: com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.

  • Image Incomplete Nightmare

Recently I've been working on a project and when I try to burn the disc, I get an error message that says, "image incomplete". When I try to save the image I get two error messages. The first says something about, "dual-layer disc image compatibly". I'm not too worried about that one. The next error says,"Errors in project". In the drop down menu of this error is says,
"The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:
    - There appears to be a broken asset in your project. Correct this problem before burning this project.
    - There seems to be too much motion menu content in your project. Correct this problem before you continue burning this project."
I checked the "Map" and no errors are shown. The movie is about an one hour and 25 minutes. I have about 59 gigs left on my hard drive. I have tried just about everything to make this work... Any suggestion would be appreciated.

  • Image Incomplete Message during burning process

    HI All,
I have had this problem pop up a few times as of recent. I get an image incomplete during the burn process when running IDVD 6. It has happened on 2 different projects on 2 seperate occassions. I was eventually able to get it to work but am I missing something or doing something wrong?? Thanks for look

You may need to force quit iDVD (appleoptionesc).
If you do force quit, make sure to run apple's Disk Utility afterwards to repair permissions on your main HD. In fact, I would do it regardless ...might help resolve some issues here.

  • Image incomplete error message

I produce a 2 hour DVD every week for stock car racing at Charlotte County Motorsports Park in Florida. I use iMovie & iDVD. This week's DVD is #38. Last year I did 29 2 hour DVDs. No problems in 67 DVDs at all, till now. In the Creating your DVD pane, during the burn process, after it burns the menus, it tells me "image incomplete". No warnings in the Map window, or any problems I can locate in iMovie. It will not read or play in a set-top DVD player, but will play in the Mac. I see all the chapter menus with audio, but, it will not play the chapters or the whole movie.
Please help! I need this DVD for sale Fri night, 11/9/07.
    Thanx

Have you recently switched medias by any chance?
If it's the very same media that's always worked perfectly in the past, then please drag and drop the plist for iDvd to the trash and Restart your mac.
    com.apple.iDvd.plist
    Remember to Repair Permission thereafter.
Also please include as much info on your mac as possible including available HD space on the startup volume (assuming you have not added any ext. devices recently and if so please disconnect them while troubleshooting). Btw use Verbatim / Maxell DVD-R while we troubleshoot this issue. Thereafter you can use whatever you please.
Are you able to make a disc image to the desktop (from the file menu in iDvd)? if so, use apple's DVD Player app to test for proper playback. This will help narrow down the issue to either the media or your mac.
    Good luck.

  • What is "Image Incomplete"

I have been trying to burn a DVD i made in the newest versions of iMovie and created all I needed in iDVD and it does the asset encoding and audio then it pops out the DVD and says "image incomplete".
what causes this? i have iDVD set up for best performance and the movie is under 2 hours.
I have burned thru 3 DVD discs and it does the same thing. it loads the menus and plays the movie until about 30 min left of it and it freezes.
somebody help ASAP. i am trying to make this for my moms birthday!
    thanks

    jensabelle,
Here's some info on making and using a disk image, in case you need it. Also, Verbatim DVD-R are very reliable recordable DVDs.
    File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Burn Failure - Image Incomplete

I'm having trouble burning a DVD. Done this lots of times before with other projects but this is the first DVD made of up entirely photo slideshows rather than movie and slideshow.
The burning proceeds fine until the 'cleaning up' stage, which fails. The disc spews out, an error message telling me that the image is incomplete appears and then nothing happens. I have to force quit.
The DVD works fine, except that the last of three sections doesn't work properly. The menu motion works. The buttons are all there, but they don't do anything. The photos files of these slideshows are on the DVD, but saved with their original titles rather than the changed titles that I have given them (and they still have) in iPhoto.
I've checked the log. Burning finished. I've repaired permissions. I've deleted the iDVD plist and restarted,
    Any ideas?

Save as Disk Image worked and revealed the problem with the other method. I can't burn the finished disk image to DVD because it is 8.5GB. Why then does the iDVD status window say that its 3.8GB and attempt to burn it?
I will obviously have to trim the DVD - slit it on to two discs maybe. I have multiple slide shows and have added all the files to the DVD, which obviously causes the problem. All the original photos are included as well, even though I have not selected this option. In addition, all the photo titles have reverted back to the original imported names rather than those I have given the photos in iPhoto, which makes having the files on the DVD less useful as an archive anyway.
Thanks for your help. The saving as a disk image at the burning stage was a new thing to me.

  • .psd images incomplete

When I import images I've worked on in Photoshop Elements 3 into iPhoto, they usually go OK, whether jpegs or .psd. But sometimes a portion of the image turns out black, as if masked. For example if I've desaturated a background, that part imports looking black. I hope I'm explaining this properly.
    Thank you for suggestions!
    Sarah

Tried to desaturate an image, with text as another layer, and did not get what you're experiencing. However, if you change the mode of the picture from color to grayscale iPhoto will display it like a negative.
Are you aware you can edit a photo with PSE from within iPhoto? Just select PSE as the application to open when you double-click on an photo. Use iPhoto's preferences to do that. The only caveat is you must not change the name or the extension of the file. if you create a layered image from a jpg file requiring a change to the .psd extension you must save it to the desktop and then import from there. Other than that it's seamless.

  • 7373 screen image incomplete - please help repair ...

I bought the 7373 recentl and recently the image only covers one smallportion of the screen on the left hand side.
    Anybody have any suggestions?

    Thanks for trying.
The only address for repair was in Sussex, England.
Regarding "full screen" options - yes, the phone was working well with a full screen, but then something must have happened because only the right 1/2 centimeter of the screen works. I can see the same images are there, but can't see anything to the right of that area. it's only white.
I realized, on contacting Nokia USA that this phone is not released in the US yet. It is a very nice phone, IF I can get it working again.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Disk image incomplete import

Hi!I created a Disk image (.dmg file) of a personal DVD. I did it in Disk Utilities. The fact is that, following the instructions in these cases, I double click the .dmg file having iMovie open and the Import Window automatically opens. There I can see the complete clip of 64min. I start the import and, when it finishes it says something like "Import complete. 1 clip 64 min". But when I watch the event....it's only 57 min 03 sec long!!!!!!!!! I don't know why I've lost 7 min!!
    What can I do??
    Thanks a lot!

Here is a link to my tip for importing from a personal DVD. This way, you could import those final 7 minutes if they are there.

  • IDVD problem with "Show title and comments"

I am making a DVD for a neighbor. He has given me CDs with scanned old slides. He has over 1000 photos.
I've got the DVD made in iDVD and everything is fine except in one of the slideshows.
In iPhoto I have 22 albums of photos. When I'm in iDVD I go to "media" and I drag an album into the theme. After it is there I drag another album into that album I just drug. So what I'm doing is combining 2 albums into one slideshow thus having 11 slideshows in my theme. I then go into each slideshow while in iDVD and add music and go to "settings" and unclick "Show title and comments".
After I have completed this for all slideshows I watch each slideshow before burning and everything looks fine. After the DVD burns (which takes 5 hours) I again watch the DVD on my television. In the first slideshow, and only the first slideshow, the first half is fine and then when it comes to the pictures that were in the second iPhoto album that I drug in the titles of each photo are coming up on the screen. All of the other 10 slideshows that I combined are just fine.
I pitched the first DVD and tried to fix this by going into iPhoto and making a separate album that had all the pictures of thos first two initial albums. I then went into iDVD, deleted that problem slideshow and then added the slideshow that I had combined all the photos into that one album. I again make adjustment adding music and going into "settings" and unclick "Show title and comments". I watch the slideshow while in iDVD and everything looks fine.
I burn another DVD and when I watch it on my television again that first slideshow has the first half of the pictures just fine and then the second half are showing the titles of each photo on the screen.
Everything else in the DVD looks fine.
The only other thing that might be of importance is when the DVD is ejected from the burner the screen says:
    "Current Operation"
    "Image Incomplete"
I click Cancel and then it says:
    "Cleaning Up"
    "Image Incomplete"
    I again click Cancel.
At this point iDVD freezes and I have to go up under the Apple symbol and do a Force Quit.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I know I should try to make 2 DVDs out of all these photos instead of 1 but my neighbor was really hoping he could have all of them on 1.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Just drag them from the iPhoto Trash bin onto the Library icon just above it.

  • Never finishes

I'm trying to make a DVD of my daugther (which i've done successfully in the past with iDVD 4 & 5 but never with 6 - on an older mac I no longer have). Everything seems fine until the end when the disc is kicked out but it never finished the burn and never asks if I want more copies made. I have to force quit iDVD and the DVD won't play on anything, including the mac. I'm using a MacBook Pro and have a buge stack of failed attempts of various projects. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

I have also had this problem ever since I upgraded in Panther. I upgraded to Tiger 10.6 hoping it would have been resolved still having problem.
I have burned many many DVD's successfully ( slideshows of scanned .tiff files)
Suddenly after panther upgrade to date, it says "Image Incomplete" Cleaning up.
It will stay there forever. I do a force quit and open IDVD project and hit burn to begin again. This adds hours to the projects as it has to encode everything again!
One gentleman said to have under Project: the item Best Performance clicked on and not "Best Quaility" and it should work. I did this, it did work one time and then it went back to the same problem.
I am running Tiger 10.6 On PowerMac G4 and same problem on G4 Tower Quicksilver. Both have same problem.
I am burning onto DVD-R Maxell 8X Disks. By the way, the projects are complete and the DVD's have been burned successfully and playback on all DVD's - it's just the encoding and reburning that is messed up.
I think this is a bug, there are a lot of people complaining about this.

  • Building a Dual Layered DVD

We need to create a DVD that will ultimately be formatted for a Dual Layered DVD. Our department dosen't have a Dual Layered Burner, but we have to create 2 DVDs that will go to another house so THEY can build the Dual Layered DVD.
The book says that when we format it will prompt us to put in another disc for the opposite layer, BUT when we go to format it, it tells us that the "disc size is too big and it is going to make the image to the maximum allowed size and leave the image incomplete".
HOW do we get it to format to 2 discs correctly???????
    Thanks.

Are you going to eventually want a DVD+R DL disc or a 2 DLT's.
Do you have your project set to a 2 layer project (DVD9)?
When you set your Destination in the Format window, what are your setting it to? Your burner? or Harddrive?
Set it to harrdrive and ddp 2.0.
Then you can have a file that you can use Toast to burn with.
After your build the files to your harddrive with ddp2.0, then open toast and select Data, then DVD-ROM (UDF).
Then burn each layer to a DVD-R.
Then a replicator can use these DVD-R's for each layer.
Sorry if that wasn't what you wanted done, but try and write back to let us know how it goes.

  • Project problem - HELP!

    Hi everyone,
I am doing a wedding DVD for someone and got everything done. I've burned the project to DVD only to find out that it doesn't play in DVD players or doesn't play right.
When the disc was burned, it had this message: "Image incomplete" ,or something like that, after it spits out the disc. And the cancel button is active, but it takes forever to "clean up".
Anyone haave a solution to burn a DVD? iDVD 4 & 5 was so much easier.

How did you import the footage into iDVD 6? Did you edit in iMovie 6 first? Make a magic iDVD? One Step DVD?
That may hold the key to your problems. Here's a couple of things you can try:
First, instead of letting iDVD do the burning, just create a disk image of your DVD instead of clicking the burn button (File>Create Disc Image). Then you can use Disk Utility to burn the disc image to you DVD.
Personally, I've found that the most stable way to use iDVD is to import your footage into iMovie 6 first, even if you're not going to edit. Then, export the footage using the QuickTime full quality setting. This will create a "dv" file. Then just drag the dv file into your iDVD project. Then, I create a disk image of the project and test it using the computer's DVD player before I burn it.

  • Dual Layer Burning Message. What does it mean?

I have set a Break point in DVD SP, Put a Dual Layer DVD in my machine, I press burn and this box comes up
*You have chosen a dual-layer configuration disc and the output destination is set to DVD recordable media. Continuing will write the image to the media. Also, if too big, the image will be written to the maximum size that the recordable media will allow, leaving the image incomplete.*
What is this telling me? How can I burn a Dual Layer DVD? I do have a Dual Layer burner
