Image lightens after resize
Hi FCP users,
I'm working on a diptych with hdv footage imported as prores 422 (1440x1080) on a sequence that matches my clips settings. Both images of the diptych have been scaled down to 47.3 percent in size. Each screen has several layers of video with relatively heavy effects applied (8 point garbage matte, color correction, de interlace and variable speeds).
Here is my problem... when I scale both video's down to 47.3 percent, the image lightens significantly. I tried exporting each video as a quicktime movie (so I don't have to work with layers and layers of video on my timeline) and got the same results.
Has anyone had this problem before?
I can always try to make the image darker by applying another filter, but would love to know why this is happening on my system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Patrick
Also keep in mind that by reducing the size more than 50% you are throwing away more than half the pixels-- could just be you're throwing out more dark pixels than light.
Yeah, I know that sounds bizarre.
Meg's right-- check the scopes and external monitor for any shifting. Run it through external scopes if you've got them.

Show image quality as like original image after resize in as3.
Hi Guys,
I am working on a Action Script3 project and i am showing images after resizing. I am using Bitmap and BitmapData manipulation for this but not getting image quality as like original image. Please guide and help me with code that how can i do this.
Thanks & regards
RangrajanHow are you resizing? Normally, you would draw the original bitmap data into the new bitmap data, using a matrix to resize. To smooth scale, you need to use the smoothing option of the draw method. Here's a little sample that takes a library image and scales it to 500x500, using smoothing:
var orig:BitmapData = new baseMap(); //library image
var res:BitmapData = new BitmapData(500,500);
var m:Matrix = new Matrix();
m.scale(res.width / orig.width, res.height / orig.height);
res.draw(orig, m, null, null, null, true);
var c:Bitmap = new Bitmap(res);
addChild(c);
toggle the true to false in the draw, to see the difference... -
Why do images become blurry after resizing in lightroom?
Please help.
I do not know why the images are becoming blurry after resizing them in lightroom and exporting them?
Any advice?
Thanks.What pixel dimensions are you resizing them down to and what quality setting and sharpening settings are you specifying in the Export panel?

What is image dpi after "Reduce Image File Size"
Does anyone know the resulting image dpi after using the "Reduce Image File Size" command in pages? My mother is trying to prepare some things for pre-press, and can't send her document to the printing press, because the pages docs are friggin huge! I'm trying to give her the easiest option for resizing all of the many images in the document, but don't know if this is a viable option if the end product needs to be printed. I need the output to be at least 300dpi.
As fruhulda wrote, asking Pages to apply changes to the pictures isn't the good path.
In fact, it's a perfect way to get a fat file.
My practice is :
Prepare the document in Pages to define the wanted size of every embedded pictures.
Edit the picture files in a tool dedicated to this task so that the resulting files will be 300 dpis ones for the wanted sizes.
Then, replace the original pictures by the definitive ones.
In most cases, the file will be lighter than the original one and you will have the 300 dpis resolution (except if you apply shadows but it's an other story).

Image Upload and Resize Trigger Order Question
Hello All,
I do enjoy and like using the ADDT, however I do have a problem with the Image Upload and Resize trigger.
I understand that this trigger is of the AFTER type, and as such, the insert record I have on the page is implemented first and the data is inserted into the table, then images uploaded provided they are smaller than 200 kB in size.
However, as I have a field that is unique in the database, if the upload fails I am unable to upload any files which are under the size and put that information into the database, as there is already a record with the unique value.
Is there an easy way to work around this by trying to capture the error before the data is inserted into the database?
An idea I have is to: check the unique field with the value to be inserted, if fails, change unique value -> nothing inserted yet, no files uploaded.
If the unique check passes, insert remaining data and trigger the upload and resize image trigger, once that is complete, have an update of the table to update with the unique value.
I can see the above working, (I think), but I just have to write the code to implement the idea.
I am not sure how to use the roll-back triggers either, if the Upload Image trigger fails, to remove the inserted record. But if I can manage the roll-back trigger to remove the record, that is an option to consider for what I want to achieve.
Thanks to any help people can provide.
Cheers,
Ian.Thank you for your reply.
I have a work-around, I have split the forms over two pages, rather than put everything on one page - which introduced another issue, to which I have made a work-around of sorts too.
The two forms, on different pages, is probably a better idea in terms of better management of data input. The work-around was a Header redirect based on a form variable, as, if I used a Custom Trigger to dynamically generate a new URL, it generated an escaped-encoded URL - to which I have not figured out how to fix.
So, in the meantime, it works, so I will settle for that at the moment.
Again, thanks for you reply.

Bridge default opens images in After Effects.
I am working in Bridge CS 5 (4.0.5.11) on a Mac Pro OS X 10.6.8. I am trying to open files (jpg, psd, bmps) in Photoshop CS 5 and the default is set to PS but Bridge is opening the images in After Effects. Where or how do I reset the default for files to open in Photoshop and not After Effects? When I right-click on the image the default is set to PS but still opening in AE.
Thanks for the help.I forgot to do so and had to recreate from scratch.
Downside from resetting prefs is indeed you loose some settings, I always recreate them from scratch and have done so often in the past that I almost can dream this. Plus side is in this way you will learn more about Bridge and its prefs and will become more used to it. Maybe even discovering things you never new of
I rely heavily on the folder panel and have only 4 main folders in the favorites that I also don't use very often. The folder panel gives you so much more overview and options, you should give it a try.
Anyway, glad it worked out for you :-0 -
Unsupported Image Format after opening a file in Photoshop.
As from today,I am getting an unsupported Image Format after opening a file in Photoshop. I have made nothing more than as crop on the image. Why?
Ernie, I misread your post indeed. I never saw a option to send RAW files to an external editor. All I can see is the option to chose what editor and then specify if PSD or TIFF is used. I always use PSD, usually 16bit and in one other installation in 8bit (due to RAM restrictions there).
So Aperture creates the PSD version and PS edits that very version and saves it back into aperture. This is where I sometimes () get that "unsupported image" problem.
I think this also is what Mike does: select a RAW master, use an external editor -> Aperture creates a PSD or TIFF. I haven't tried the TIFF option , though.
My main point was: it all worked for a very long time and with the latest updates it is broken.
have a good day.

Signature Scribble field not retaining image file after saving
I have 2 issues with my PDF dynamic file I sent out
1) The add/remove controls is adding a random amount of extra blank rows upon saving the PDF
2) The image files selected for the Signature Scribble field is not retaining the image file after saving. It also doesn't give an opportunity to actually draw in a signature.
I even tried to use the Subform Instance Controls Insert/Remove/Move in my table, but I keep receiving the error "You have reached the maximum number of items allowed"
I would appreciate any help you can give me! I have been farting around with this for too long.
Thanks!
RhondaThanks Pat. Tried each, restarted computer each time; tried the "Accept" routine several days ago - it worked briefly and then stopped. Uninstalled Reader and Flash as well. Strange thing with Flash, one of my online broker programs provides streaming of CNBC. When I clicked on the CNBC option to initiate CNBC, I got a message saying that I needed to load Flash. I did, and it loaded again with no mention of Flash having already been installed.
Using Internet Explorer works, as well as, clicking on the .pdf file within Windows Explorer (WE). Expanding the window in WE makes it large enough to read. I would still like to find a way to open the files as they are designed to open.
I have done all of the Adobe updates as they have been presented. Microsoft updates load automatically, and restart my computer in the process. I do not look to see what the updates have been. I figure if there was not a need, Microsoft would not make the updates.

Applet not draw anything after resizing
Hello.
We have applet, which show tree manualy in it.
And it works fine for JRE1.4.2_05.
But after swithing to JRE1.5.0_03 we have problem:
It is not draw anything(blank window) after resizing.
But if we move other window over it or hide/show browser with applet, then it show content normally.
Is it a bug of JRE1.5.0_03 ? And how we can solve this problem?Yeah I got similar problem with 1.5. The problem is Applet's Paint method is often called incorrectly after resizing. My case is that when I drag(resizing) the applet by its top border, it is first displayed with previous size(overlapping other frame). Folks here do not know how to resolve this.

IPhoto 9.5.1 will keep images even after deleted AND trash is emptied.
I have Repaired the database, Rebuilt the Database and the images I can see in the master and thumbnail folders inside the actual library do not show up so they can be deleted. They did at one time exist in the library, they were deleted and the trash emptied. I am trying to find a way to have iPhoto clean itself.
Here are suggestions I can say I reject right now. I will not extract all the images and import to a new library. That is stupid since faces, locations and all organization is lost. I take RAW and adjustments will be lost or the Raw lost. I am looking for a apple or a representative to acknowledge a serious shortcoming in the software. None of the tools that come in iPhoto can retrieve the images nor delete the images. I could manually do it but this is a continual issue and a real Hard disk hog when deletion does not delete the files
Anyone found a real solution to this?I am looking for a apple or a representative to acknowledge a serious shortcoming in the software. None of the tools that come in iPhoto can retrieve the images nor delete the images.
This is a User-to-User forum, so it is unlikely, that Apple representatives will post here to acknowledge shortcomings of the software.
But there is a well-known problem with iPhoto's trash.
If you put too many photos into the Trash at once, the Trash cannot be emptied.
If you put photos into the Trash and then merge the events the photos were in with other events, they will stay in the library, even after you emptied the trash.
If your iPhoto library is on an unsupported drive, it may not be possible to move the photos to the trash (a network volume or unsupported filesystem)
I think, your problem is (2). You said, that our build the library. Did you see a "recovered" items event after you rebuild the library? If yes, mot of the photos, that had not been deleted, should have been collected in that event, and you can delete them from that event.
Else try to rebuild the library with iPhotoLibrary Manager as described by Old Toad in this post:
Re: Copying saved iphoto library from external hard drive back to Macbook Pro
The important part is:
make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked. -
Before image and after image is not updating correctly with 2LIS_04_P_ARBPL
Hello BW gurus
I am facing problem with the posting date extraction from the extractor 2lis_04_p_arbpl. I am getting incorrect before image and after image. Please let me know how to solve this problem.
Thanks and regards
kiran.Hi,
It is difficult to check this in the Source System and there is no direct method. I can give you a workaround which we did analysed for some of delta datasources.
Steps to be followed sequentiall once the step is successful:
1. Create a Production order or something.. Note down the number.
2. Check the datasource whether you get the same Production Order as delta
3. Now do whatever confirmation etc . for the same Production Order
4. Check the datasource (RSA3) and see wat it extracts.. might be multiple records..
In that case just see the sequence of records.. and the changes each record has brought in.. hope this way we can simulate the delta datasource realtime..
And if you find the sequence or somthin is correct and in BW is not updating properly then it is our fault to dig and find out further.. If the issues is at the RSA3 itself, then u can raise an OSS Message as a Bug.
Hope it helps.

After resizing a photo and viewing in album picture offsets to one side and crashes ios7
After resizing a photo using the edit function , viewing the photo in camera roll
Offsets the picture to one side so its not in the middle , zoom into the pic and zoom back out
The black borders appear at the top and bottom and all looks in centre
But when i flick back and forward through my pics and get back to my
First pic i resized it offsets to one side and the camera roll crashes and freezesSince you can't drag a photo when viewing in the large mode you can try the following:
1 - make sure the Info drawer on the right side is displayed.
2 - click on a photo and hit the Space bar.
3 - click on the Full Screen button at the lower left.
Now you're in full screen mode with the Info drawer at the right.
4 - either set the rating of the photo to one that you can use to group in a smart album (Command-1 for 1 star, Command-2 for 2 starts, etc.) or add a keyword that can also be used to group the photos in a smart album.
5 - use the right or left arrow keys on the keyboard to move to the next or previous photos.
6 - when complete go to the smart album and drag the photos into a regular album. -
Fastest way to add multiple images, one after the other, in DW5.5
There has to be a faster way to add multiple images, one after the other, in a web page rather than just dragging each from the Files tab w/in DW 5.5
I was a little surprized I couldn't select multiple images and just drag a block and have DW just insert an img tag with empty alts and the source path but maybe there is some options I just haven't found?
I tried using Bridge to generate a quick html slideshow/gallery but it creates skads of divs and such... I just have to update an older site and was looking for an efficient way to add a bunch of images (random names ugh so just copying-pasting one and changing names is still more manual) that lie next to each other, no breaks inbetween....seems an ideal automated situation.
I'd settle for an external script or app or something because they come in blocks of 25 approx and I have all my actions in PS set up to size appropriately which is nice so I just wondered if there was something good for this low-level production task.
ThanksThanks. Yes, I started writing a script but I just wondered if there were hidden gems in DW....so many programs do more than they are intended to do nowadays, I had to ask people who use it more!
Actually, the fastest was to just dupe one line of code, paste x amount and then just use the pick-wip to point and drag. That at least cut the menu out of the equation.
I thought I remembered doing a batch insert years ago..maybe in GoLive or before Adobe had DW? DW and GoLive are the only GUI html editors I've ever used..but, may it was just something out of an ealier photoshop...they've taken good stuff out and put good stuff in so many times that I can only remember so much! -
