Image locked and can't be deleted

I just took over updating my company's website. On one page, there's an image that is locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it so I can delete it. Can someone help me?

Without seeing the file we can only guess.  With that in mind it sounds like you have a page based off of a template.  You can determine this by looking at the source code where you will see comments for editable regions.  The best thing you can do in this case is find the original template.  If you cannot find the original template your only option will be to detach the page from the template by clicking on Modify->Templates->Detach from Template.

    You can restore the phone.
    Turn the phone off.
    Once the phone is off, hold the home button and don't let go.
    Press the power button while still holding the home button.
    You should see 'Connect to Itunes' on the screen.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • When i open an mp3 file from a source other than apple, does itunes create it's own file and can I then delete the original mp3?
    when I open a music file from a source other than apple, does itunes create it's own file and can I then delete the original mp3?
    If you use iTunes' default settings then when you add a file to iTunes it places a copy of the file in the iTunes media folder and it leaves the original in place.  The exception is when you drag it to the Automatically Add To iTunes folder.
    It does not convert the file.  You can delete the original if you wish.
    I have a 3g iphone I can not open it to locked and can help me thanks
    I presume you mean that you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten. If that is correct, you will need to restore the iPhone from the computer to which the iPhone is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPhone into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:
    If you're not referring to the screen lock, please post back and clarify.
  • TS3159 I have content on my iPhone that skips and can't be deleted
    - but it is content that was purchased from iTunes store! I can't delete it using iTunes - it is forever there greyed out!
    iTunes displays these phantom items with a little sync symbol next to each one suggesting that there is a sync issue. Ok - But they can't be deleted! or re-synced!
    Ok ok I think I might be all my fault... I may have pulled the sync cord out without ejecting - it was taking ages and I had to leave. Am I eternally damned now?
    What can I do?
    I have tried checking and unchecking all the silly iTunes syncing options but it's impossible to get rid of them.
    I tried Sync Music
    I tried not Sync Music
    I tried Sync Music Selected Playlists painstakingly choosing items from the four scrollable list boxes.
    Obviously, I don't want to erase my whole phone.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
  • Ipad locked and can't connect to itune?
    i just bought my ipad2 (used and just received it. i didn't have time to sync it with any other computer), and i put a password on  it, but 5 min later i couldn't remember it. i tried several  passwords but they were wrong. now the ipad is locked. so i read online  that i need to connect it to a computer to reset it. so i tried to  connect it, but now it says that itune cannot connect to the ipad  because it is locked with a code, and that i need to put the code before  the ipad can be used with itune.
    so anybody have any suggestion on how i can reset or unlock it?
    also, i also just bought a apps (navigon for 40$), will i lose this app if i restore it without back up?
    (i know that a lot of people already asked this kind of question, but i couldn't find answer where the ipad was locked and at the same time couldn't connect to itune).
    tks for any suggestion
  • Event place wrong and can not be deleted
    iPhoto has assigned the WRONG place to many of my photos even though they have correct geo-tags. In the past I've found that the wrong place comes from the event and that deleting the event's place stopped masking the photo's correct place. Now I have several events from which I can not delete the place. I can delete it from individual photos to reveal the correct place but I can no longer delete it from the event.
    There seems to be several bugs here:
    1. iPhoto persistently assigns the WRONG place to events. The event place then masks all photo places. Most of my photos are automatically assigned the wrong place, even though each is correctly geo-taged.
    2. The event place assignment is, um, well, I can't remove the thing. When I view the event info I see the wrong place on the map but it is not in the "Place" text box and clicking the "x" does not remove what was not there to begin with.
    The only solution I have found is to open the event, select all photos, Get Info, then remove the "place". This seems to un-mask the actual geo-tagged place. I'm a little reluctant to do this on-mass to the whole photo library as it may remove correct geo-tagged places.
    Why is the wrong place being assigned to most of my photos? How do I prevent this in the future? How do I remove it from all photos in the library with out removing the correct place assigned to individual photos?
    Thanks for the suggestion. I deleted preference and found that I had to go back and remove the wrong place again. But that was not the fault of deleting preferences. Seems that EVERYTIME I open iPhoto is associates the wrong place.
    it is not that iPhoto is assigning an unexpected name - it is assigning altogether the wrong location. The photo may be geo-tagged in Utah and iPhoto will "place" it in Washington. And it is not just any wrong place. It is always the same wrong place. Here's a more specific explanation.
    Years ago I went skiing in the Cascades at a place called "Yellow Aster Butte". iPhoto naturally does not have this place so I created a place with this name and assigned it to photos of that ski trip. I've been back several times and assigned the place of those photos to "Yellow Aster Butte"
    Well, it is that location which iPhoto typically assigns to new photos. Now days most of my photos have a correct geo-tag. Since each photo has a geo-tag I expect iPhoto to recognize the location. Instead it assigns "Yellow Aster Butte" to every photo. If I go and remove this assignment the correct geo-tag will appear.
    Well, it is not actually iPhoto assigning the wrong location on import. If I clear "Yellow Aster Butte" from photos, quit, re-lauch, I find that "Yellow Aster Butte" has been re-assigned to the photos.
    "Rescan for Location" does not fix the problem. I have to remove the wrong location.
    This is not coming from incorrect preferences as I just deleted them. Is there something messed up about my library? I'm beginning to look at Picasa with envy. Geo-tags are going to become more important. I've been hoping that Apple would get this worked out in iPhoto. This sure looks like a bug and it has persisted for a year or two.
  • Time machine restored files are locked and can't unlock them
    After upgrading to an SSD, i was having problems with restoring files from Timemachine. i fiexed that by naming my ssd drive the same as the drive that was backedup using time machine. now, i can't seem to edite any of the files restored in Documents from the backup. not can i edit or add content inside the folders withing documents. i dont know whats going on. they appear lock and there is no way to unlock them. it says i will need to duplicate the items!
    i'll run a permissions verify once. in the mainwhile, if u guys know about this please let me know. thanks.
    Neerav
    Stay calm!
    Ok- saying 'locked' besides their name when you open it is Lion-speak for the fact that it hasn't been edited in a while. It should, once you try and edit it, pop up a dialogue offering you the chance to duplicate or unlock the file. In the instance that the second option isn't available, try some or all of the following:
    -As the poster above said, try doing a get-info (cmd i) on a file/folder and seeing if it's locked. Uncheck it if it is. If you find they are ALL locked, you can change it on multiple items at once by selecting them and pressing cmd alt i
    -If that didn't help, try looking at the permission at the bottom of the get-info pane. Does it say you have read-write access? If it doesn't, unlock these options with the little padlock at the bottom and change it so that you do.
    -You can also try going to a high-level folder (namely, one with a  lot of stuff in) and doing what I just described, then under the read-write permission hit the little cog-symbol and choose 'apply to enclosed items'. See if that helps.
    -My final suggestion would be to find a free application called ACL fix. This helps repair dodgy or messed--up permissions using a simple drag and drop interface. Download that, and drag the affected folders onto it as per the instructions. Hopefully it should fix everything up.
    Try all that, then let me know what's what
  • Mystery photo is locked and prevents me from deleting iMovie project
    I made a move with iMovie which included a photo that I didn't know was locked. Having transferred the iMovie to a DVD I moved the file to the main trash so as to free up space on my Mac. Before emptying main trash, I decided to delete a selection of the photos used in the iMovie in question. I managed to delete the photos no problem, or at least they are no longer in my trash so I presume they've been deleted. However, the iMovie cannot be deleted when I try and empty trash - I get a message telling me that a certain photo is locked and cannot be deleted, therefore the iMovie cannot be deleted. However, the photo in question is no longer in my iPhoto library so I have no way of finding the photo to unlock it and thus enable me to delete the photo/iMovie and empty my trash. My start up disk is nearly full so I really need to empty the trash to free up some space. Any ideas?
    Thanks for responding you guys. Further scowering for clues in other discussion threads provided the answer thanks to "windowsbegone": GENIUS!! My problem is now solved. I followed "windowsbegone"'s instructions from another thread in the hope that it would help and it did. HURRAH!! Here's what they said:
    "Find the movie file where the trash item that you want to recover are. Cntl-click the file. Choose "show package contents" Click on "Media". Find the clips that you want to recover."
    Doing this showed me icons of the locked photo and I simply went into the info and unlocked them. Emptied the trash and they're gone. At last!
    Thanks to everyone who took time to think about this - much appreciated.
