Image looks great in PS- when I go to print, it looks grainy in printer preview dialog box and prints blurry. Why is this happening?
PS CC, Yosemite, Epson 3880 (called espson to make sure it wasn't something with that), saved as a tiff/psdjpg- all files behave the same way. When I open the raw file- and only crop the image- it behaves this way now- with grain and blur when printing. No other files do this in the same shoot. I worked on this image- could something have gotten corrupted along the way such that now even opening the raw file creates this problem. SInce upgrading my computer - a window pops up when I open PS that says I need to update my graphics card?? for 3D- I'm not using 3D- so I don't know if that means anything. I have to leave for about an hour- but greatly appreciate any feedback. I will be in touch. Thank you.

I am using Numbers app for the ipad and it has been working absolutely fine but now, when I want to email a spreadsheet as a PDF via the 'share and print' option, the file now doesn't appear as an attachment to the recipient. Any ideas please?
Hi mafiose15,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
You can find the instructions in this article:

Photo's sharpened in LR4 look great but terrible when exported.
What am I doing wrong?
I start with a great photo, it doesn't need much sharpening, just a bit to make it pop. It looks great in LR (photo is RAW) but then when I export it as a full sized Jpeg and put it into Blurb (because I'm making a photo album) it looks terrible. Strands of hair kind of look like dotted lines rather than smooth strands of hair and the edges of things look all pixilated. It didn't in LR even when magnified.
I've tried chaning my output sharpening to low.
I went back into LR and removed all sharpening (which makes the photo now look a little 'soft') and re-imported it and it looks much better but it no longer has that real beautiful sharp look like it did in LR.
How can I keep that sharp look?
Thanks.345Alive wrote:
How would I get one of the pages into a file to print locally? I thought the Blurb pages were kind of stuck within their software so that even when I export the person printing would have to have Blurb software or something?
Hope that makes sense. I'd like to be able to do this just not sure how to go about it.
Thanks.
This whole discussion has been on the basis that you are usinf Blurb's Booksmart, yes?
If so, Booksmart>File>Print is the Blurb recommended way of locally proofing your book. By default it will print the whole book on whatever printer you have set up, but the print dialogue gives you the option under 'Print Range' to select select 'Pages' and one or more page numbers to limit the trial print to just one page.
Being curious, and having a wet morning to spare, I did a bit of playing around, and I think I have established to my complete satisfaction that these artifacts are purely a result of Booksmart scaling the image whilst in edit mode. I exported a jpeg at various sizes and with a variety of output sharpening options, and none of these displayed any visible artifacts when displayed in a variety of Windows viewing programs. I then imported these into Booksmart and placed them onto pages with a number of different sized image containers. Some of these showed jpeg artifacts, and some didn't but there was no apparent correlation to the original sizes or sharpening.
I then zoomed the Booksmart page using the slider at the bottom of the screen, and the artifacts increased / decreased / vanished as I did so, on all of the different pages, demonstrating that they were a function of Booksmart's scaling. I then printed one of the pages that was showing quite bad artifacts (using the technique above) and it was perfect!
The two images below show the same page at different zoom levels, with and without artifacts. (I don't know if this is going to work, because when I insert them into this message, they are re-scaled and both display artifacts - let's see wehat they look like when posted?).
Anyway - I'm confident that the case is proven! -
I have read that you should resize the frame to 640 by 640 or 1000 x 1000, and have tried both. I shot the footage on canon 70d using 720p60fps, and edited the footage with iMovie. Its been frustrating to see the finished product look great on iPhone, iPad, or mac but once i post the video- the quality gets blurry when you focus on the faces that are in focus. My footage is basketball action shots from a high school game. Any advice would be huge, I been looking for an answer to this for a month.
Simple export a ProRes 422 file, upload that by itself. Facebook, Vimeo, YoutTube, etc, all compress the video themselves. So don't compress it first, just upload it and let them do their own compression.

Why can't I get my print program to show anything but a photo 4x6 image (and print that) even when I am in "everyday printing" and even when I manually enter a 8.5x11 paper size?
Changes to Printer Properties settings need to be done through Firefox, not the global printer settings.
1. This happens at least once a day, and sometimes multiple times. Today it's happened twice, thus far. My home page is FoxNews.com and if I leave it up overnight or for longer periods during the day firefox doesn't allow the refresh of the home page it just goes to yahoo 404--error can't find the webpage. Then when I enter FoxNews.com it adds a /error to the url and doesn't allow me to go to MY homepage. So I close firefox and then if I try to reopen it and then I get the dialog box saying firefox is open and to close it or restart my computer. Very aggravating. 2. Also the Adobe flash drive update always fails. 3. Webpages get in loops and fail to load to the point I have to stop and refresh or close out and reopen.
One situation in which Command+w or Ctrl+w might not work is if the "focus" is in a plugin such as the Flash player used on Youtube after you interact with the player controls. Firefox will continue to send the keyboard input to the plugin until you move the focus back to the page. Does that account for any of the problem?

I can print an entire e-mail when I log into Hotmail using Firefox, but if I select part of the e-mail and tell the printer to print the selected part, all I get is a blank page coming from the printer.
I can print the selected text if I use Internet Exlporer as a browser to log into Hotmail.Hi,
My dad told me he had this 'no selection' problem when he wanted to print out a selection in Hotmail, so I had a hunt around, but didn't find a definitive solution.
So, I have done some playing around, and have come up with this solution which works if you want to print out a selection in Hotmail (using firefox), but it is now greyed out.
It seems to be connected with the way that Hotmail handles frames.
(Thought I would post it as posts like this have helped me a ton in the past :0))
'''To print a selection in hotmail you need to do this.'''
1/ On the email you want to print click the small Printer icon in the hotmail menu.
There is no need to highlight a selection at this stage because the email is in a frame, so it will do no good anyway.
2/ A new page will open up and the printer dialog box will open up.
Close the printer dialog box.
3/ Highlight the text selection that you want to print on that page.
4/ Press Ctrl-P on the keyboard.
5/ The printer dialog box will now pop up again and you will be able to choose 'Selection'
Your selection will now print. -
Using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6.
Have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up yesterday. First thing printed was a
document from MS Word (a letter) 8.5 X 11 plain paper - this came out OK. Next I fire up
Photoshop and open a 4 X 6 inch image to do a test print. I set it up in the print dialog as
4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop
manages the color. I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print. Now, when
it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and starts printing
on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out. It does this in Photoshop (any image it doesn't
matter), and it does it printing from Capture NX. I have been able to get it to print on the paper
correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good. I was on
the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting
I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either.
I want to be able to print from Photoshop. Any one every heard of this or experienced the same
problem? Thanks JamesD!Hello again. I recognize that a print is good if you like it and bad if you don't, despite what others might say, but I will at least share my experiences. They might help you or others who are following this thread.
My monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3. Gamma 2.2, 6500K, 83 cd/m^2. Contrast at 50%; brightness about 52%. My monitor lets me choose blackness level - it defaults to 50%.
When I print the test image I linked to above, using Lightroom, with no adjustments, my technical output is as follows:
Middle step wedge shows twelve disticnt steps. Whitest step is color of unprinted paper.
It varies from paper to paper, but I can discerne at least the 252 step and on some papers 253 - telling me I have good highlight detail.
On the black side I discerne 8 or 10, nothing lower. (That sounds like what you are reporting).
Artistically I am very happy how my print looks - nice red strawberries, good flesh tones, etc.
One my monitor, the on-screen image is almost identical to the print. I am surprised that you can see the 2 wedge step on screen at a very similar brightness.
I also checked out this B&W test image:
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw-test-image-2.html
You are probably aware of this since you are printing with Print Studio Pro, but others may not be.
You can print a series of test images:
find the one that best suits your taste, enter the calibration values in PSP, and save them as a custom setting. Then, each time you want to print recall the setting.
You can do a similar thing in Lightroom using the printer driver and User Templates.
There would be some one-time trial and error to that approach.

I have a similar problem with the the same printer. Excel works fine until you ask to print preview, this takes about a minute to appear, and about another minute if you ask it to print too. Once you've printed and are back in Excel anything you try to do now has a delay. I've tried then changing the printer i want to use to a networked one which makes Excel return to it's normal self.
I've also tried sharing this printer to make sure it wasn't the PC but it is the same on any I've tried. -

If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then try to disable Virtualization.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder.

Photoshop cc print dialog box image dark
I'm on a MacBook Pro running Mt. Lion with PS CC, an Eizo monitor, printing with an Epson 3880, calibrated and profiled with a ColorMunki. When I preview an image to print, the image is darker in preview, and the color is much different than the actual image. When I print with the proper paper profile, (photoshop manages color and the space is Adobe 1998) it prints looking like the preview image rather tha the one on the monitor. I also run Snow Leopard on a partition with CS6, and the above does not happen, everything works fine. A photog friend of mine with a similar setup is experiencing the same problem since upgrading to Mt. Loin. Another graphic designer friend is running Mavericks and is has the same problem. I have another photog friend in Nashville who is having THE SAME PROBLEM!! Does anyone know what the heck is going on? I'm the only one who kept Snow Leopard so I can still print, which I do on almost a daily basis. What broke what? Is it a bug with PS CC, or did something in MT. Lion break? This is very frustrating for all of us and I find it totally unacceptable.
If anyone has a clue and can help, we would be eternally greatfull.
Thanks,
Greg NikasThanks for the tip on inserting photos. I'm new here, won't post a link in the future.
I'll try to simplify my issue;
1. In CS6 in Snow Leopard, the original/source image looks just like the image in the print dialog box and prints beautifuly. See images below.
Original image.
Print dialog box image.
2. In PS CC and CS6 in Mt. Lion, the original/source image is redder and more saturated than the image in the print dialog box, but the print looks like the the image in the print dialog box. The image in the print dialog box looks like the original/source image in CS6 in Snow Leopard! See images below.
Original image.
Print dialog box image.
3. The issue seems to be with how the original/source image in PS CC and CS6 renders in Mt. Lion. As I said in my intial post, I have three friends who are having the same problem and none of us can figure it out, and I'm the only one who kept Snow Leopard.
4. I'm on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and Mt. Lion on a partitioned disk.
5. I have an Eizo CG222W monitor, which is calibrated with an x-rite ColorMunki. Each OS has it's own calibration profile.
6. I print on an Epson 3880 using the latest driver, and all papers have thier own profile and look the same when printed from either OS.
7. All settings in PS CC, CS6 and Bridge are identical in both OS's.
I hope this is stated more clearly.
