Image moves after updating

I have a document containing some scanned linked images in indesign. However when I see some errors in in them, I crop them in Photoshop. When these images get updated, they either increase in their size ( if I have autofit enabled), or change their position if I have autofit disabled. Is there a way so that the image stays in place after I crop them in Photoshop? I’m using indesign cs6

Pixel dimensions is the size, in pixels, of the image. Resolution is how large you wish to print those pixels by specifying how may will fill a defined space, ie. 300 pixels in the space of an inch. Resolution has nothing to do with number of pixels that the image contains. When you crop the image in Photoshop you are cutting off pixels and throwing them away -- changing the pixel dimensions for the image.

That's what I mean (except that I also mean you can move the image around inside the frame rather than adjusting the frame itself). There is no functional difference in your output if you crop in ID, and there are plenty of advantages, like the ability to reposition or show more of the image, and the size of the image doesn't change if you edit.

Lost my movies after update 3.0...

After updating to 3.0, it deleted all my movies. I only had half backed up. How can I retrieve the rest of my movies??? If I can't, will Apple refund the movies I bought? I have all the receipts saved on my computer. I know its my fault for not backing up the rest but, ***? What kinda update erases your movies???
P.S. I upgraded to 3.1 post losing all my movies to see if they would appear… they didn't :'(

I have the same. All my content got erased. I didn't sync it, because my main computer is a macbook pro with a 256ssd, (and before an 160hdd) so didn't want my hard drive to be filled with movies. But now the appletv is empty, I installed 3.0.1 as per apples suggestion, but no content to be found. Will the issue the ability to re-download? If I take my car to the garage for new oil, and they mess up the seats, they're going to give me new seats. I wonder why the software business is allowed to make costly mistakes? I know this is a hobby for apple, but this is ridiculous.

Can't watch movie after updated to firmware 2.0.2

after updated to 2.0.2, when i try to watch some movies , the screen showed "the movie could not be played", however, such movies can be played with the firmware is 2.0 and download from itunes store.

This problem can be resolved by rebooting your iPod touch. Hold down the power button and wait for the upper red slider. Then slide it to shut down, and after a minute, click the power button for 5 seconds to boot it up.

Images offline after update??

Initially I had the error message about not being able to connect to the library after the update so I repaired the library ctr+opt then click repair. The images are back but are all showing as offline - is there a quick way to relocate them all??

If your images are stored by by reference and they loose their connection to the master, select all the files and right click on them then select "Locate Referenced" files, this will allow you to point to them.

Desktop image changes after update or startup

Any one know why after a shut down and restart or after a system update half of my destop images change back to the default starview.. I have 8 separate desktops and the same ones always get knocke back to the default image. Then I go through the same process of customizing the desktop image and it sticks as long as I don't do a complete shutdown or updatge the system. And lately there's been a few updates.
Any insight would be helpful. While not a critical issue it's an annoying one for sure...

Hi Mende. Tried deleting the .plist in the library and after a few shutdowns got the same prblem happening again...Guess my Mac doesn't like my desktop pics...any other ideas?

Problems importing movies after update

Anyone having issues importing movies into iTunes after the current update?

Aperture "no image found" after updating to 3.1.3.

This has been posted elsewhere with 60 some views with no responses and on here with almost 50 views with no responses. I will try rewording my question:
I have Aperture 3.1.3 (updated recently). I opened it and have a library displayed in the browser.
The library resides on an external drive along with 5 or 6 other ones (arranged by year).
I can look at my photos but can't edit or work with them because of the "no image found" message.
I am having no luck in reconnecting masters and also can't see the other libraries in the list of Aperture Libraries. I copied the 2011 library to my hard disk, but still can't reconnect masters.
Help please.

Failure mounting or repairing images (DMGs) after updating to 10.4.9

I used Disk Utility to create a compressed image of both my and a friend's "The Frozen Throne" (Warcraft 3 expansion, by Blizzard) cd. Although both CDs mount properly when inserted into my drive, the images created from them by Disk Utility (both before 10.4.9 and with 10.4.9) fail with:

I'm sure this has something to do with intentional fudging of the filesystem metadata by Blizzard for copy protection purposes. Regardless, I would like the system to be happy with the image. How do I repair it or create an image without fs errors?

Something went Horribly Wrong for a fair number of people who have USB drives and updated to 10.4.9--the drives just won't show up. For a few the Combo update worked, for others it looks like nothing is going to work except a fix from Apple, and we'll just have to wait for that.
Do you have an Airport base station? Several people have gotten their USB drives to work by plugging them into the base station. If you don't, and can't wait for a fix to appear, then you will have to do an archive and install, then update only as far as 10.4.8.

Clip masked image moves after save- little help please?

Hi, All. I've been working at a printing company for the last 3 years and have seen the issue I'm about to describe only a handful of times. I'd like to understand it more and know if there is a fix that can be utilized before saving the file for production.
So, here's my dilemma.... I've saved Illustrator EPS files that have multiple images that are placed and embedded into the document. All of the images are "cropped" using clipping masks. They have been every common type of image extension (jpg, tif, eps). The issue that I'm seeing is that one or two of the images "jump" from their original placement but we've only caught it during the rip or even after it has been printed (which makes for wasted material). The jump isn't by centimeters either. They always end up off the artboard entirely so the clipping mask shape is the only thing left in place.
So, what's the deal? I've seen this happen in CS3 and CS4. Does anyone have a solution or an inkling of any possible reasoning behind this? I'd appreciate any and all feedback!

The majority of the files we receive are from outside sources. We have in-house preflighting as a courtesy to our clients before we print since our displays range from the very small to the very large. I haven't seen it happen with PSD files but we're too big to convert all the images we receive to PSD files. Who knows if that would even be a fix.

QT Player X won't open QTVR or Wired Movies after Update?

Just did the auto update thing and when do went to work on my QTVR files - the default X player won't open them now - pushes it over to QT Player 7 - next I checked my wired movies (chaptering) and same things - wow bummer when updates make your life ****!

QuickTime X can't open lots of different formats and QTVR files are one of them.
It's been that way since Snow Leopard was released and is not the result of any recent update.

Unsupported Image Format after update

I support a fair number of Macs, and if someone tells me that one day the computer did something and then the next day would not and they didn't change a thing I would know they were wrong. Something changed but they don't know what changed.
I use Aperture 1.5.2. I installed the RAW updae for PPC. Great. Aperture opened the NEF files.
Next day it would not opwn NEF files, showing 'unsupported file format'. I swear So I reinstalled and the installer said it wasn't necessary.
I don't know where to even begin looking to resolve this. Any ideas?

I'd try and split the problem in half.
Will Preview.app open the NEF file in question? It uses the same RAW image support (as delivered in the update you applied) as Aperture.
If it won't, then there's something about the RAW update for PPC that has got broken/modified/disturbed.
If it will, then it's Aperture that is being awkward (is it the same NEF file? It has been said that sometimes an image needs to be reimported if support for it wasn't present at the time when it was previously added to Aperture's library.)

IPhone 4 will not sync movies after updating to ios7???

I have not been able to sync my movies and videos on to my iphone since i updated to ios7. Also been having problems syncing music, the process never starts adding the files....

This is almost embarassing. For some totally unexplainable reason all the songs in iTunes were unchecked. I was considering syncing the whole iTunes library to my iPnone, tut even with the 32 Gb version it would not hold it all. I restarted my MBP, and the message about the unchecked songs came up. It obviously is not enough to have songs checked for the iPhone. Thanks anyway.

Updating .dir movies after update to 11.5.9 on Lion OS

I am using a Mac with the Lion OS. I just completed purchasing/installing Director 11.5 and updating it to 11.5.9. I am trying to update Director movies created in Director MX to 11.5.9. It says it is having trouble saving the files. I'm not sure I have correctly chosen the code page it asks for pertaining to what the movies were created in. I have tried both the default Mac and default Win pages, but neither will work. I'm not sure what page to select, or if that is even the problem. Can someone give me a hand on getting these .dir files updated? My programs won't run on lion until I get this done, and people are waiting.

As I understand it, if you developed the DIR on a PC then you should choose the ANSI codepage, whereas if you developed the DIR on Mac then you should choose the MacOSRoman codepage (the default, I believe). This should then allow Director to properly convert the text encoding in the source file to UTF8.
I think Clangton hasn't had problems doing as he describes because he's only delivering to one platform (Windows) and this is also his development platform. If he tried to do the same with his DIRs and a Mac projector I expect he'd have problems.

SAFARI doesn't play QT movies after update

We did the 7 to 7.1.2 something update and now safari won't play the movies -- we just get a question mark! It kind of works in other browsers, just not safari. Anyone know how to fix it?

I am reading with interest the post about quick time.
I have been having terrible crash trouble due to shock wave plug in..
i posted to another forum about this...
however.. in my frustration, i moved a QT plug in, there were two in the drop down menu in safari, i did a search and found the plug and deleted it... and and now get an error message when i click on a web page..
The page.... "Apple-Quick time attempted to load an Internet plug in named Quick time plugin 7.1.1, but the plug-in failed to load successfully".
I tried to put it back from the trash, howver,, I think i put in in the wrong place. Does any one know the file sequence that the plug in should go into?
Also, I checked the unistaller for QT.

About this update
The QuickTime 6.5.2 reinstaller will remove QuickTime 7.0.1 from a Mac OS X 10.3.9 system and restore QuickTime 6.5.2.
Note: This reinstaller will only run on Mac OS X 10.3.9.
My QT version is 7.1.1.. meaning that I cannot do this uninstall and reinstall?

5800 XM: video image freezes, after firmware updat...

HI,
After updating to firmware version 40, I have a freezing video problem.
When I play video file (.mp4), it starts playing as always but after a while image freezes but sound continues playing. No way forwarding video, the freezed image is always there but sound plays normally.
I have Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, firmware version 40.2.005.263.04
Everything else is working correctly in the phone after update to 40 firmware.
Is it a problem that could be solved?

I downloaded this software but is unsigned. So using it means I must accept the possibility of damaging my files later... not an acceptable solution.
