Image not on site files

I have been workng on a web page all summer. I have worked
with a template file for my link pages. All summer I have had an
image in the upper corner of the page. It has show up on all the
files I have created from the template, until today. It shows up in
the template but it is not showing up on the pages I have created
from it. I did make a small change on the template page and told it
to update all pages. It went through them all. I have the .jpg
saved in the templates directory. Do you know how I can correct
this problem???
Thanks for your help in advance.

There should never be any files in the Templates folder other
than the
template files themselves. If this image is in there, move it
out, and let
DW adjust your links.

  • Can not open .sit files any more

I get a warning that it is not a compressed file. I downloaded a new copy of Stuffit 11 and it dosen't work either. The files show as an icon of a little brown suitcase ant the suffix is .sit. If you look under get info it says that it is a stuffit archive. I have been having this problem for several months. I remember that used to work automaticly in earlyer revisions of SO 10.4.

    Hi Robert
Start Stuffit and open the Preferences
scroll down the list and click on the Stuffit format
the panel on the right gives the extn (sit)
it should be Assigned to Expander
click on the Assign to Expander button anyway
    close prefs and try again

  • Stuffit Will Not "Expand" .sit Files

Please help. Every time I double-click a ".sit" file (or, select Stuffit from the "open with" menu item), a small windows opens for less than a second, then closes. Nothing else happens. I can't tell what the window is because it only flashes on the desktop.
I am experiencing no other problems on my PM. I have deleted all the Stuffit files I could find using Spotlight; Repaired Disk Permissions and Repaired Disk (no problems found in either); re-booted, and re-downloaded and re-installed Stuffit Expander -- but, I get the exact same results.
It must be something simple that I am overlooking, as I am fairly new to the Mac world. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

maclover - thanks again for the response. What does "you could have a trawl here" mean?
I went to the support link you provided and followed the instructions (even though it appears the problem described in this link is for when Stuffit crashes upon opening - Stuffit opens fine for me, but crashes upon attempting to expand a file). Anyway, I turned off "version checking" in Stuffit (I was able to do that without going through all the steps...all my other settings were as described), but the results are still the same: Stuffit crashes the moment it tries to expand a ".sit" file. More suggestions?

  • Obsolete images making my upload file huge?

I just added the same picture to the browser background of all my site's pages (11 in all). Now when I use iWeb to save my site to a folder for uploading to my non .mac hosting site, it has more than doubled in size from 9.8 MB to 21.5 MB. I looked at the Domain.sites2 file that iWeb created when I published it to .mac and it's roughly the same size.
When I looked in the folder where the files get dumped for uploading to an external host, I do indeed find one copy of the image file in the folder for each of my 11 pages. The image size is 1.1 MB. So that times 11 plus the original 9.8 MB size makes sense for the larger file size now.
Is there any way to get around this? I'm guessing the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I assumed it would be smart enough to house one copy of the image for all pages it's used in, but I was obviously wrong there. I'm not concerned about space on the host server since I've got way more than I'll ever need, but the upload time is getting very time consuming. Thanks.

What kind of image is it? A JPEG?
You could try running your images through an image optimizer that can reduce the size of your image files before you drag them into iWeb. Chances are you can reduce the image by a few hundred kilobytes which could help speed up the upload.
There are a few ways you can do this. If you have photoshop, you can use some of the built in tools to export your images for the web which will reduce the image size for you.
We have also released a beta version of a new tool we are working on that optimizes your image and web site files. You can use it for free while in beta mode. Instructions on obtaining it can be found at http://www.ragesw.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1031 and on the WebCrusher website optimizer info page.

  • Making a folder for site files

In Windows 8, I created a folder on my desktop so it looks like C:\SJA Website and all my site files are there.
When I go to the Dreamweaver Manage Sites and browse to that location by selecting it from the folder icon, the only thing I see are files that have to do with Windows itself and not my site files.
    Why is this happening?
Is there a better place to create a folder to put my site files in?
Because what's happening is when I upload (FTP) the files to the server its also putting Windows files on the server too and the hosting company has notified me of this to remove them and not upload them again.

I don't keep site files on my Desktop.  I typically put my site folders on C: drive or in my Local Testing Server.

    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I updated to one of the firefox versions (Not sure which one it was)

Thanks Alex, but sadly I already tried that. Neither .docx or .xlsx files show up in the content list. They both show as a Chrome HTML document so changing how Firefox addresses those doesn't help since it thinks its the same type of file. I don't think I can manually add files into the "Content Type" left side nav.

  • HELP! Images not loading and Firefox taskbar icon is a white file.

I went through all the suggestions in the image not loading help page and same with the add ins and nothing helping. The images load fine on Google Chrome so I know it's not the site. It might just be Adobe Flash images, but that's as far as I know how to pinpoint.
As far as the task bar goes, it's just a while file icon instead of the Firefox one. It doesn't bother me, but I just thought it might be related.
I'd appreciate any help! Anybody! Thanks,

What do you see if you right-click the area where such a missing image should be?
Is that a context menu for images with "View Image Info"?
Are there any icons on the location bar that plugins are used or mixed content is blocked?
If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains.
*Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden Menu bar.
Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
*Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
*If an image in the list is grayed and "<i>Block Images from...</i>" has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.
Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the <b>permissions.default.image</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page should be 1.
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

There are extensions like Adblock Plus (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images and other content.

  • Set image link to a file which not yet exists

    Hi to all,
I'm working with InDesignCS2 on Mac and Windows.
Is it possible to set an image link to a file which does not exists yet.
I have document with some JPG files in low resolution.
Later, if the document layout is finished, I want to
change the image links of the document to corresponding PSD files.
    E.g.
The document is layouted with the imges image1.jpg, image2.jpg, image3.jpg.
Now a want to change the links to corresponding PSD files image1.psd, image2.psd, image3.psd.
BUT: the PSD file do no exist on the current working place.
The images image1.psd, image2.psd, image3.psd exist on a destination working place.
The document with the missing PSD links will be copied to the destination working place,
in the some folder where the PSD file are placed.
If I open the document on the destination working place the links set on the first
working place should be satisfied now.
Now it should be possible to print the document with the hires PSD images.
    My question:
How can I set a link to an image which does not exist yet?
The name, the path and the format are known.
Please let me know, if you have an idea how to do that.
    Thanks.

I might be proven wrong but I don't think you can link to a picture file that's missing.
That would be an interesting feature actually - but probably too smart.
What you could do instead is to use a dummy picture file to be replaced later in your production workflow.
Something I did a long time ago was to create a text frame with the full path written in there.
Then I was making a snapshot of this text frame.
Then I was replacing the text frame by a picture frame - same size, position, etc.
Then I was placing the snapshot within this picture frame...
At the end I had a link to a temporary picture file that was displaying its full path to the layout artist - providing a valid link to a real picture, to be switched to the real one later in my customer production workflow.
This is a classical case actually - and I'm sure there is dozens of solutions implemented out there . . .

It sounds like your file associations are messed up and Reader is trying to open your .jpg files. Is this correct?
If so, you just need to change the associations to choose what application opens them. Here's how: Change File Associations in Mac OS X

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • FTP publishing on iWeb to replace existing site - files not appearing.

On iWeb, I used FTP publishing to replace my existing site files, then deleted the original files but not only has the new site files not appeared in my public html folder but I get the message:The requested URL /www.geofflevitus.com was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Founderror was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

but I get the message:The requested URL /www.geofflevitus.com was not found on this server.
That's an indication that the index.html file that is created alongside the site folder by iWeb is missing.
Try publishing your site to a folder on your hard driive and use a 3rd part ftp client like the free  Cyberduck to upload the site folder and the index.html file.
Cyberduck or Transmit will let you view your server folder in a Finder like window where you can see which files are missing.

    Hi,
it is indeed bug in SVG Converter from Production Suite. The correct behavior is to add the referenced image into fxz archive, so that the file is self contained and does not depend on other files somewhere on a file system. I filed [http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-8794|http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-8794]
As a workaround you may insert the file IMG_2921_t.jpg manually into the fxz archive and change the url in the content.fxd entry so that is will look like this: image: Image { url: "IMG_2921_t.jpg" } . The fxz files are normal zip files, just with different extension.
Sorry for inconvenience and thanks for finding this issue.
    Regards,
    Pavel
