Image on Monitor is partially 'shifting'

... Actually, only part of the image is shifting, maybe every 5th line is shifting left or right, so that the image is still visible, but blurry. When this occurs, the machine freezes up for 2-3 seconds, then the monitor image 'shifts' back and I can continue working. I've moved the computer to the other side of my desk, and plugged into a different outlet (thought maybe there was some type of intereference, as kitchen renovations are in progress, directly over the left side of my desk...)
The effect of the shift reminds me of old PC monitors de-gaussing.
Suggestions, please!

Hello,
I have had the problem, that the grafic would shift after a time of 1-2 hours using the computer. I rec. that this would a temp. problem. Because dust inside the computer reduced the effect of cooling and the temp of the grafic card would be too high.
I tried to put some sticks under the computer to give the cooling around and spec from the bottom plate, more effect. This helps. But this should not be a result for the future, only for a moment. If this helps your comp. you have to clean him inside. This is better with assistance by an expert, because the i-mac is not so easy to clean like a tower.
Kind regards

  • CMYK images: strange monitor display & and printing

I tried the way Pages 2 handles CMYK images today and found out some strange things.
    My problem: monitor display
CMYK .jpg files are displayed inverted on screen like a negative - black is white and white is black. Layouting basicly rendered useless. Is there a work arround ?
    Solved: Printing
For printing there are at least two ways to get a decent result. Here my findings:
    - Any color printers
"Print - ColorSync - Color Conversion" set to "Standard" => CMYK images get converted to RGB
"Print - ColorSync - Color Conversion" set to "Printer specific" => CMYK images stay in CMYK if printer is able to print CMYK
    - use "Save to PDF" within printing dialog
Same as above, profiles tagged to images stay correct
    - Adobe Acrobat Distiller
Same as above, but PDF looses recognizeable profile information. PDF workflow software does not recognize "SWOP" or "ISOcoated" by name but has "Embedded Adobe Postscript CRD Profile" instead which will create problems in workflow processing.
    - Exporting "File - Export - PDF"
Profiles stay intact and are handled correctly.

Thanks Noel for the reply. Hopefully  this will help.
This is how the file should look like.
This is how the file usually displays.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • PE10 Pixelated images in monitor

I have just upgraded to PE10 and, after some initial start up problems I had, it seems to be running fine (so far - haven't tried any major edits yet) except that when I play the loaded video files (and stills for that matter) the images in the editor monitor pixelate (they seem ok in pause mode) making editing a little awkward as the images aren't clear (of course).
I created a still title and, whilst not so bad, the text blurs when in the monitor play mode.
I don't think it is a render issue as there have been no major edits merely cuts and shortening of clips. There is no red line in the timeline but I have 'hit' return anyway and the 'Render' information box doesn't materialise.
I am running Windows 7 - 64 bit and this is the version I dowloaded. Screen resolution for the PC monitor is set to 1920x1080.
The video files were shot on a Canon XM2 in 16:9 format and appear fine when run through the camera.
The PE project settings are for 16:9 PAL.
A burned disc plays ok on a televsion through a DVD player.
I took a screen dump of the video whilst playing  the video and, although the image is quite small (upload constraints), careful scrutiny will see the pixelation
How can I improve the play resolution of the editor monitor?
    Brian

Though the un-Rendered footage on the Timeline is seldom seen as "pixelated," it can be blurry.
There will likely be red lines above the Title, and possibly some of the Video and Still Images. If one Renders, by pressing Enter/Return, those should turn green, and then one will have the best possible playback. This ARTICLE goes into more detail.
Also, having chosen a correct Project Preset, at New Project, can be very, very important for best quality. The Project's Preset should match the Video Assets - the Source Video Files.
Also, if the Still Images are overly-large, Scaling in PS, or PSE, prior to Import, will likely be helpful for both quality and for the necessary processing overhead, required to internally Scale the Images. For Scaling Still Images, this ARTICLE goes into more depth.
What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of the Still Images?
    Good luck,

  • Resolution of image in monitor window

How can I get the image in the monitor window to be as sharp as the image in the preview window in Premier Elements 10?

    Marcel,
If a Project ONLY has Still Images (no Video), then the Project needs to be set to the desired output, say NTSC (or PAL, depending on where one lives) DV Widescreen 16:9 if going to DVD. This is a departure from a Project's Preset, where there IS Video. Then, the Video will dictate what the Project's Preset should be - a 100% match between it, and the Video. When one has both Video and Still Images, the direction for matching the Project to the Video holds.
With Still Images, it is always best to Scale those, in Photoshop/Photoshop Elements, prior to Import into Premiere. This will do two things: keep the processing overhead lower, and actually yield higher quality. See this article: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/450798?start=0&tstart=0. For an SD Project, we recommend Scaling to no more than 1000 x 750 pixels, unless one needs to do a Pan on a Zoomed Out Still. I Scale to exactly the Frame Size of the Project. For an HD Project, say at 1920 x 1080, we recommend Scaling to no larger than 2000 x 1500.
With Still Images, when one Imports those, and drags them to the Timeline, there WILL be a red line. Same as when one adds an overlay, say a Title, or Picture in Picture, or adds an Effect, or even a Transition - the red line will appear, and for smoothest playback, Rendering of the Timeline, or that portion of the Timeline, will be required.
Good luck, and hope that helps.

  • Images in monitor are messed up

Help!  I am new to encore.  When I create a slideshow in encore the pictures in the monitor view are all messed up.  You cant even tell what the picture is.  Is this a common proble or is it an issue with my system.  Possibly a video driver issue?  Any help would really be great

When you say that the images are "messed up," I can imagine all sorts of things. Could you do a screen-cap of the Monitor, and attach it. It might be easy for someone to spot and identify the problem.
Also, tell us more about your Assets: size, Color Mode, anything that you can think of, regarding the images. Might be something obvious in the Assets' specs. Also, is the visual result the same for both the JPG's and the TIFF's?
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[Edit] Along with the Monitor's display of a messed up image, please post the corresponding image for comparison.

  • Over saturated images when monitor resumes from sleep

Lately I started to get this weird beheviour from LR 2.7. each time my monitor resumes from sleep all image colors become extremely over saturated. All other apps and computer desktop are just the same so it's only LR.
I use a wide gamut LCD (HP LP2475w) which is calibrated using iOne Display 2.
If I restart LR the problem goes away. This only started a few days ago just after I started uploading new photos taken by a new lens (Sigma 30mm).
    Any ideas?
    Micha

    Hi
I can sympathise with how annoying this must be - and although I haven't looked into it myself, I do recall several other posts over the last 18months or so, with the same issue.
I can't dig out the exact posts now, but maybe the following might lead somewhere?
    http://webkit.org/blog/73/color-spaces/
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302827

sorry I can't locate the threads I remember- I found one or two, but they were un-answered.

  • Audio square image on monitor, unable to remove

Since a few weeks there is appearing a large square transparent audio volume image on my monitor, that cannot be removed. It appears above every document or image I'm working in, in the middle of the screen. I tried everything to get it removed in system preferences, removing caches, restarting, using anti virus software and everything else I could think of. Without result.
I work already more than 30 years with Macs, I know all the ins and outs and the software too. Never had this before, so I think maybe its a Trojan horse but I cannot find it.
Please, if anybody knows a solution, HELP!

    Hi Ramon,
thanks for your fast answer, this is the image
But.... maybe I 'solved' it for the moment, at least I hope so. At this moment it disappeared, but last week it disappeared also for 2 days ant then it re-appeared. So, I have to wait and see.
I disconnected all audio and headphone now from the apple and then it disappeared. But that means I can only listen to build-in audio and that's not the best quality. So once, I have to connect that again.
What is strange also, when this square appears, it's not possible to change the sound volume.
So last week I had to work with constant sound I didn't want to hear from my Mac. When it disappeared, I moved sound volume to  'off'. When it re-appeared again, It wasn't possible anymore to put the sound on 'On'.
Each time when I wanted to change it, it automatically ran back to start position.
It has also influence to my other programs. It's not possible to work with more than 1 program at the same time. So I have to quit before I can work with another program. Closing a file isn't enough.
Nor can I select with my mouse more than 1 file at the same time, for example in Mail to throw away.
This never happened before, so I still think there is a trojan horse or the updates from mac software have something to do with it, because that's the only thing that has changed.

  • Moving Still Images in Monitor (Pro 7)

I recently re-purchad Premiere Pro 7, and am making a slide show for a friend of the family. I seem to recall being able to grab the still image in the "Monitor" and move/resize the image with the cursor. Now when I try, I don't seem to have any reactivity? Is there a feature or option I need to enable to be able to adjust the image?

Click the Motion effect in the Effects Control window first.

  • CS4 shows faded image in monitor compared to what LR & Bridge shows.

I processed Canon RAW files using LR 2.3, generate jpeg files and view these Jpeg files in Bridge CS4.  Both LR and Bridge shows brilliant colors, but when I open the same files in Photoshop CS4. the images looks faded.  Of course, I view the images on the same monitor and even put them side by side.  This is the first time I have encountered such situation.  I printed some images and they are very close to what LR and Bridge shows.  Both LR and PS have Adobe 1998 as color space. I have attached a screen shot of the same file side by side. First in LR, then Bridge and last PS.  Although the files prints with very good colors as seen in LR or Bridge, it is unsettling to see  faded images in PS, especially when the images will be part of a composite or layout.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Additional info: Canon 40D, LR 2.3, CS4 V11.01, 24 inch iMac.

My guess is that PS color managememnt is set up incorrectly. For example, it may be set to ignore profiles embedded into images or the "desaturate monitor color got checked by accident". Look at the screenshot attached and tell us how is it different from your set up (except for the RGB working space).
Also, make sure Soft Proofing is not turned on in PS.

  • Image on monitor window does not match red playhead as it moves

While editing a movie, imported slides do not match the monitor view. As the red playhead moves along to the right, when a slide changes the image on the monitor remains on the previous slide. After about 15 secs the next slide appears, but briefly then it's on to the next slide.
This is annoying. I have tried everything I can think of to overcome this (eg rebooted, pulled the plists, varied length of slides, started new movie etc). Fortunately, it does not happen with imported movies from the video camera. I can overcome the problem by placing transitions between all the slides, eg use a one-frame cross-disolve, but I'd rather not have to trick it this way. Does anyone have any ideas on this please? Thanks,
    Keith

I also had the same problem. I have discovered that it is due to the upgrade of Quicktime. To reinstall an older version of Quicktime is quite tricky but I have solved the problem. There is no need to uninstall Quicktime 7.6.6. as this will be done later during the installation of the earlier software. Try this: Download a copy of Pacifist. From www.mac.oldapps.com download a copy of Quicktime 7.6.4. Open Pacifist, drag the installer box icon of QT 7.6.4 onto the Pacifist window. Click open package. When asked click "Replace" check the "all" box. This will over-ride QT 7.6.6 replacing it with 7.6.4 and your problem should be solved. Good luck! Let me know how you get on, please.

  • Negative Image on Monitor

I have a Dual 1.8 G5 with a Mitsubishi Diamond PRO monitor. After having left my two year old for about 15 seconds, I came back in the room to find him "working on the puter", randomly puching keys. Just as I asked him to stop, the image on the minotor changed to a negative image, like a film negative. I repaired permissions, checked the color profile, even scrolled through all of the profiles, restarted. Nothing works. When I restart, the desktop appears normal for about a half a secone, then switches back to negative. Has anyone ever experienced this? What do I do to fix it? HELP!

Let me just start by saying you are the MAN!!! If you were in Columbus MS right now, I would buy you the biggest coldest beer available. I have e-mailed about 5 seasoned MAC users, all of which replied "Uh, I've never heard of that." It worked. Thanks a million, look me up if you ever get down this way! THANKS a MILLION!!

  • Fix an imac monitor getting partially grey

I have a 27" iMAC.  The monitor is darkening (turning grey) on one corner of the screen.  The backlights seem to be going out.  Sometimes it is OK and most of the time now it stays grey.  Does this mean I need to replace the monitor or is there a repair for this?

Ah. I'm not able to run the hardware test because it only works on the main screen. There's no obvious way to switch to an external monitor when AHT is running, which is ridiculous if the hardware fault concerns the screen! The problem isn't with the backlight - there is no dimmed image on the screen, it is just off.
I'll just have to use it with an external monitor, I guess - which defeats the purpose of buying an iMac!
    Thanks for your help, though.

  • Reversed image on monitor. How can I set it right?

My monitor went to reversed image. My two-year old son "worked" at it while I was away. Can not repair it. I didn't find the answer in manuals. Can you me give a piece of advice? Thanks in advance.

I am sorry, I found the answer myself. Thanks to CaptKevMan
May be it will be useful for someone else: [command]-[opt]-[ctrl]-[8] is the hot key combo to switch between black on white and white on black.
    Thank you once more

  • The image or attachment says partial down load and never downloads the rest to my email view.  How do I fix

Mail message does not download all of the image.  It says download partial
    and downloading but never completes

yes it could well do if your bank thinks there is something going on that is not from you they will block it. I have had this problem before, I would of thought they would of phoned me but they don't do that.
If I was you I would go to my bank make sure they are not doing anything like that. If they say it's all fine then i would phone up apple them self or go into my local apple store, as they should be able to look at what there servers are saying why it's not working.

  • What is the best program or way to check an image on monitor screen (contrast/color etc)

    Hi,
In ACR I adjust the image so that it looks OK for me.
But there are a little differences in ACR and PS viewing the image (color, contrast etc).
In programs like windows foto-viewer there is an other difference (relative to ACR and PS) >> images have more contrast and darker  than viewing in PS.
An other program Irfanview shows the image with less color (saturisation).
I have made a test print (in a photo centre), that image results in something between Irfanview and PS.
    Question:
What is the best program or way to adjust the color / contrast etc so that I get an photo-image (on paper) that is the same as what I see on mij monitor screen.

THANKS! STATION_TWO for the "over-correct-answer" you give................
If I'm honest, the answer of Richard was for me enough to realize where I made a "wrong inference" in understanding color management.
He is for me the best teacher in this case, I've learned something from him because he's talking on my level.
By the way: the english language is not my native language... so my questions should have to be read with understanding of grammatical expressions from other languages >> ("The color management is know by me…").
Again: Richard, in this case, read my question properly and has helped me on my way.
