Image Option window when saving edited photos!

Image Option window show up every time I save an image after editing. Is there a way to set image quality at High and this window not to show up each time?

Sorry to say but there is not such setting in PSE that can let you control this. This dialog will always appear whenever you save to a .jpeg

After I edit photos in Photo Stream I try to save them to my Camera Roll and my ipad freezes up.   Any ideas on how to fix this?

I don't think you can save a photo from Photo stream to Camera roll. So add a new album, then try adding the Photo Stream photo to the new album and it should also appear in Camera Roll.

  • Saving edited photos in jpeg

I use Element 9. I am not alowed the option on the drop down list to select jpeg when saving edited photos. Please help!

Make sure the image is not 16 bits/channel and not bitmap or indexed color.
    Image>Mode
Usually RGB Color and 8 bits/channel is the norm for saving as a jpeg.
Also if your document has layers (jpeg doesn't support layers) you would need to flatten the photo before being able to save as a jpeg.
If you want to keep the layers use a format such as psd or tif.

While using a drop-down menu i.e. File, edit, image, or even when saving as and choosing the file type; the list appears and I am able to highlight what i want but cannot click on anything. This is becoming incredibly frustrating. It happens at random time and a restart of the computer is all that helps, then with out any notice it starts to do this again.  Mac Book Pro i7 2.2 16 GB 1333 Ram, (2) 450GB SSD both internal to machine. At this point I am losing file because I am unable to save in the file type I need. Does anyone out there know how to solve this issue?
    Thanks

I haven't been unify photoshop much in the past month, but I did try your suggestion and it seemed to work for a while. Today when i went to save a document the same thing happened: click on file>save at this point I can not click on save even though it is highlighted. Tryed to use command s that brings up the save dialogue box, but when I try to change file type I again cannot select it from the drop down menu.

  • Keeping images full size when uploading from "Photos" after editing

Is there any way that I can edit photos in the ”Photos” app and keep what I have edited and also keep them full size when I upload them Flickr?

Highlight the images you wish to export.
Ctrl-Shift-E to open the export dialog.
Change the top drop-down list to Hard Drive.
Choose a location for the files in the Export Location section.
    Adjust file naming if necessary.
In the File Settings section make sure you have the correct output format selected and choose a quality (85 is fine for most things and keeps file size manageable).
Make file size changes as appropriate in the Image Sizing section.
If you are downsizing a lot then consider adding some output sharpening.
    Click Export.
    Hopefully that covers most things.

  • Saving tags when renaming edited photos

When I send a tagged photo from the organizer to the editor, edit it, give it a more descriptive name when saving it, and close the file, the tag is missing from the renamed version in the organizer. How can I make the edited and renamed file keep the original tag? It's a pain to have to retag each edited file.

    Arnold,
This is a known bug in PSE 6 and 7:
John Rolfe Ellis, "PSE 6 Problems Fixed in PSE 7" #2, 5 Oct 2008 10:32 am
] When you save an edited photo as a new file but not in a version set, the edited version picks up the date/time and caption of the original but not the keyword tags, star rating, or notes.
A workaround, as suggested by Paige, is to save the new version in a version set. If you dont want the new version in a version set, in the Organizer, right-click the version set and select Version Set > Convert Version Set To Individual Items.

  • Saving Edited Photos Reverts Settings to Reset Mode

    hey everybody,
I have some great pictures i took at a concert I went to early this month. I've been playing with the 'sharpness' and the 'highlights' on some of the photos. When I go to the next photo, it says "Saving Changes" on the box that appears in my window. The altered photo appears in the thumbnail, and is A-Ok when i enlarge it, but it is reseting all of the edit options back to their original settings. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong would be appreciated.
Also, do the raw images uploaded from the camera get saved anywhere even if they files are edited?
    Thanks in advance,

How are you seeing this - if you export the photo or grab it via the media viewer it should be A-ok
Also, do the raw images uploaded from the camera get saved anywhere even if they files are edited?
The RAW is saved in the originals folder as the digital negative - the edited photo is saved as a JPEG in the modified folder - but do not go into the iPhoto library to get tehm - use iPhoto or the media viewer for all access to the photos in the library

  • Saving edited photos in Iphoto

I´ve tried the "save" option after changing the settings for PS but Iphoto still wont show me the edited photos. They are there- but in som different place- and the edited photos wont show in Iphoto events. Where are the photos? And why wont they show in Iphoto? I have made sure they are jpg and all and made PS the choice for my Mac when I want to edit a photo. Still, when I return to Iphoto after saving- the original photo is still there and the edited one ( with a new name though... - mayby thats why?) is stuck in another place. What am I doing wrong here?

    Maybe this will help:
    Photoshop in iPhoto
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • Saving edited photo

I use an external USB drive to store my original photos and preserve edited versions. I have unchecked the "Copy items to photo library" in the advaned preferences since I do not want my photos to get copied in the libray.
When I perform an edit on a photo how can I tell iPhoto to save this file on my external drive? From what I understand all you can do is click on the DONE button when finished editing. However I want to make sure I have a version of that jpg saved on my external drive and not in the library. Is this possible? If not then I assume I have to used a different editor that will let me save the edited version.
    Not very practical.
    Thanks for your feedback

    Hi Larry,
    Thanks for your response.
My decision to keep my photos external to iPhoto is based on the followings:
1-I want to keep the ability to have my photos available to other OS (Windows) and applications. I do sometime use a diffrerent system (windows) to view my photos. I cannot afford to have only a proprietary format such as iPhotLibrary to manage my photos.
2-I have been using iPhoto for 6 months now and it recently has lost one of my 400 photo slideshow (long story). So I cannot trust iPhoto at this stage to manage everything I need to do with my photos. My iPhoto Library appeared corrupted so I had to created my iPhotoLibrary from scratch.
    Regarding your stateent:
+You have instructed iPhoto not to touch your originals and it is doing just what you requested - iPhoto will not to anything to any photo that is not in the iPhoto library.+
note that this is true for both cases (check or unchecked). iPhotoLibray will not modify your originals either if they sit within iPhotoLIbrary or not. Any edits will generate a new copy in the Modified folder (regardles of option checked/unchecked). The original is either kept inside iPhotoLibrary (option checked) or externally (option unchecked).

  • Saving edited photo separate from original

How do I save a photo that I have cropped and modified in other ways as a separate photo from the original? If I choose "return to original version" I lose the changes.
One other question if anyone can help me has to do with my iPhoto Library. I have a lot of photos, but none of them appear when I use Finder on iPhoto Library.
    Thanks in advance.

How do I save a photo that I have cropped and modified in other ways as a separate photo from the original? If I choose "return to original version" I lose the changes.
Duplicate the pic first, and make your edits on the duplicate. If you want multiple versions from a single master you'll need to use another app - Aperture, for instance.
One other question if anyone can help me has to do with my iPhoto Library. I have a lot of photos, but none of them appear when I use Finder on iPhoto Library.
Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Want to look inside the Library? Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Standard Warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • "Text Import Options" window when opening .ai file, and then blank document

    Hi everyone,
My computer went into blue screen crash in the midst of a file save and after restarting, when I tired to reopen the file that I was working it, it just kept showing the "Text Import Options" window, and then blank. I was already working on the file prior, and have saved it successfully many times and opened it without fail. The file is also about 27mb, which leads me to believe (hope) that the content is still there and not entirely gone! ><
Searching google and this forum, I've tried the following on two laptops
    1) EnableRecovery and the ctsl+shift+alt method, nothing happened, and no _ file generated
    2) Placing the file in Illustrator -- got a blank image
    3) Placing the file in InDesign -- InDesign crashes
    4) Opening it in acrobat to save as .eps -- unable to open in acrobat and "it is not a valid file" .
Has anyone managed to successfully resolve this problem before? The threads that I have read so far do not seem to have any conclusive solutions or even reasons for this error to have occurred.
Please let me know if there's any way to salvage the file! I will greatly appreciate not having to redo 16hours of work and redesigning about 40+ artboard )~~:
    Thank you very much!

    Do you have a backup?
Is Time Machine or another backup software running?
    How's the file size?

  • Problem saving edited photos in iPhoto

    HI
When editing in iphoto the changes I have done are not saved correctly. If I select a photo then choose 'edit -> enhance -> done' everything is saved as expected even when losing edit-view BUT if I try to edit in another way for example 'edit-> adjust' and then changes the 'shadows' settings manually and press 'done' the changes are not saved. When selecting the edited photo to to watch it in full-size or even as the icon size (i.e. how every photo appears in each Event before being clicked on) the photo shows up unedited. I have to chose the edit-view to see the changes I have done.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the contents of the User/LIbrary/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder, launch iPhoto and try again. If still no go create a new test library, import a couple of photos and try your editing there.
If the new library works as it should then the problem lies in your original library. If it doesn't work then more tests are indicated.
Log into another user account on your Mac and try the editing there. If it doesn't work there then a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to first delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder, reinstall iPhoto from the disk it came on and reapply the latest updaters.
It the editing works in the other account then the problem lies in your user account. It could be a preference file other than iPhoto's. Here's how to determine if that's the case:
Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard/Snow Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
4 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button.
5 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.
