Image pixelated when open in editor

I have several pictures that I shot in RAW.  I start in the organizer and right click to open them in the editor.  At first, since they are shot in RAW, they open in the RAW editor (I don't remember the correct name), I make my changes, and then open the image, there are parts of the image that are pixelated.  Anyone know what causes that and how to fix it?  It is very strange.  I've never had that happen before.  Thank you.
Heather

What adjustments are you making in camera raw? Make sure you are not over sharpening or pushing up the clarity slider too much.
Are you using raw files straight from your camera and not raw files created in iPhoto from an original?

  • Images pre-edited when opened in Editor

I have used PSE 11 for a few years and all of the sudden this week my images are being "auto edited" when opened.  When I open an image in Editor it has already been edited a bit… it looks different than the image in Organizer.  I want to edit the images myself.  Did I accidentally turn some "auto edit" on?  How can I turn this off?

I just figured out that after the image is opened in Editor, I can go Image-- Convert Color Profile-- Remove Color Profile.  That gives me the original image.  But, does anyone know how to turn this off for good?

  • Why fuzzy images when opened in Editor ?

When opening images in the editor the edges of the image are jagged and fuzzy.
They seem ok at 100% but at the lower magnifications, less than 50%, problem.
To me it is very noticeable and the image just looks wrong.
I have tried trial versions of Elements 8 and 9
I have the same problem on XP64 and Windows 7 64bit
    My comp specs as follows:
    Intel Quad
    ATI Radeon HD 3400 series
    Monitor ASUS VH222H
I suspect this is a software issue because the images look fine in Picasa
    and other programs.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Photo went black when opening in editor!

    Hi there,
I thought I'd try the editor in Photos. As soon as I opened my first image it showed up black in the editor. I didn't touch any controls, it happened immediately. I got out of the editor and the thumbnail had gone black. The image is now just black. Revert to Original is not available, show referenced file is not available.
It is an old (2010) PEF raw image from a Pentax camera. This image showed up fine before opening the editor.
I am terrified I may lose my photos permanently, just because I open the editor!!!
    Any help appreciated.

It's AMD that have been doing the tweaking/correcting. Catalyst 13.1 can be problematic for any version of Ps that uses OpenGL although you may not have exposed the problems until yesterday. Your example image shows the bug where a pixel with red component of zero is displayed as completely black.

  • Strange JPG bug. Lost image details when open it in PS. It looks sharper.

    Hello.
    Strange problem found.
This problem recur in Windows/Mac environment and in the CS4, CS3, CS2 and even 5.5 :-) (maybe others) versions of PS.
When open some JPG images in Photoshop, some details lost and image looks sharper/grainy then it is.
I've tested jpg's created by 3d editing program, downloaded from web etc on different PC's and still same problem, only in PS.
    Any ideas?
I think, it's not driver problem, because of problem iterations on different machines and in PS only.
CS4 11.0.1 installed, nvidia fx3700 latest drivers installed.
Original image in attachment, to open it ps and see the bug.

I didn't see any of that.
What I did see was that when opened and viewed in Paintshop pro X2 the picture was the same.
When opened and viewed in PS CS4 extended the red color was noticeabley washed out.
I must have something adjusted wrong in PS.

  • File and image distortion when opened in Photoshop CS6

I recently upgraded to a new computer and I am experienceing strange black bands blotches when opening many of my old photoshop files or even when opening common files types (jpg/png).  The problem doesnt occur with all file, some open just fine.  The distortion only appears within photoshop, when I try to save the file for display everything looks fine as long as I don’t open the saved file in photoshop. I feel like I’m missing something basic but I’ve used PS for years and never encountered this.
All of my profile settings are exactly the same as they were on the old computer (basically default) so I don’t think there is a mismatch.
Using Adobe Creative Cloud if that helps.

Drivers are fully updated. You did lead me to a solution though once I considered the video card might be the problem.  Apparently there is a bug between the current Catalyst driver and current version of Photoshop.
In case anyone else experiences the problem here is a workaround.
Go into Edit - Preferences - Performance, [Advanced Settings], and choose Drawing Mode: Basic.

  • Am changing from elements 13 trial to full version, but when opening the editor it keeps asking for me to sign in and input serial number

I have been trying to get elements 13 working for a couple of weeks, after many hours of chat with support and them using remote access, it has still not worked. However, having been on several websites I have made progress and it is now running as the trial version.
The organiser works fine but every time I open the editor, it asks me to sign in and requests the serial number followed by the message "verifying serial number" which disappears after a few seconds. The same thing happens every time I open it as if my serial number is not being accepted

  • Why are my images looking oversharp/pixelated when opened in CS from LR

When I open up my images in CS from LR they look oversharp when zoomed out to view the whole image.  You can see it in her hair in this image
When I zoom in closer it looks fine
Any idea how to fix this?
    TIA!
    Amanda

What is there to fix? When zoomed out that far, your monitor can not display all the pixels needed. If you could fix anything, it would be increasing your screen resolution assuming it is even possible. Most video cards have a hard coded limit just like the monitor has a limit. To go beyond those limits would require purchasing a new card and/or monitor.

  • Gray image frames when opening CS4 in CS3

    Hi,
When I export a CS4 inx file to open in CS3, without the images correctly linked there is no image preview, just gray boxes. Is there anyway for this not to happen?
For now, I have to give the editor this inx file for editing copy only on a different computer, then he gives it back to me. He obviously doesn't have CS4 yet and getting him all the images is out of the question.
    thanks.

When I export a CS4 inx file to open in CS3, without the images correctly linked there is no image preview, just gray boxes. Is there anyway for this not to happen?
Yes. Correctly link the images (or embed them). You won't see them unless they're there.
If the editor needs to see the images, consider giving him a low-res PDF. He can edit the text in the INX and check the pictures against the PDF.
BTW, expect less-than-perfect results round-tripping through INX through CS3 back to CS4. You'll see some text reflow opening his CS3 .indd file, but only after you've begun to edit the story. And of course, any CS4-only features will be lost or mangled.

  • Retina MacBook Pro + Cinema Display = Only 25% of images visible when opened

Every single time I open an image, I can only see 25% of it. I have to hit Cmd+, Cmd- to zoom in & out every single time. It's ridiculous. I think the problem might have something to do with the fact that the retina display has twice the pixel density. This is just a theory, but I'd bet money that it's the culprit. I just realized that the problem doesn't exist when I don't have my external monitor plugged in.
Here's what I see on the external 27" monitor:
Then after hitting Cmd+, Cmd-, this is what I see (this web form has scaled this image down, but you get the gist):
Can someone please tell me how to avoid this maddening annoyance? I've contacted Adobe Tech Support, and they can't help me with this problem. They have given up; they simply ignore my emails at this point.
I'm using the latest version of Photoshop CC on a fairly new 15" retina MacBook Pro with a 27" non-Thunderbolt Apple Cinema Display.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Ah, it's nice to have a friendly and knowledgeable person replying to my question for a change.
Here are my display settings from Mac systems prefs:
The problem exists regardless of the Application Frame setting or the zoom tool's Resize Windows to Fit setting. I'm using windows, not tabs. Here's another example of what I see when I open an image:
And here's what I see after hitting Cmd+ followed by Cmd-
It's really just an incredibly annoying inconvenience.
    Thanks for your help!

  • PSE7 when opening the editor only the upper half of the picture is displayed

When I open a picture in the editor only the upper half of the picture is displayed in the lower part of the screen. I tried adjusting the size of the canvas but that didn't work.

  • Pse trial v12 installed but when opening the editor it shuts down after 2 seconds, what can be the problem? I have windows 8.1 64 bit with the latest video drivers installed. Thanks

PSE trial 12 installed just fine but when i start the editor it opens and shuts down after about 2 seconds without an error, the only thing that appears is a message with 'continue trial'.
I have windows 8.1 64 bit and i already installed the latest video drivers, intel hd 4000 and nvidia geforce 710M.
I also installed premiere elements version 12 with the same problem.
What can be the problem here, please help?
    Thanks.
    Wim.

    Hi roberto-
Yes, its a shame. I have also contacted lenovo support hoping that they can sort out this problem. However, first response from them was 'contact your internet service provider since internet connectivity goes down'! :-/ I am hoping I have been able to get through to them now at least about where the problem lies. I wonder if anyone has tried using the laptop with the same broadcom wireless adapter with some other version of OS (linux, windows 7 etc.) and whether they still face the same problem. I haven't tried that yet. If this is just an OS / driver issue I hope someone somewhere is working on a fix! If not, I guess the only other solution would be to get an external USB wifi adapter but that is not something one would want to do when you buy a brand new Lenovo laptop. This was a big let down for me.

  • Tiny image size when opening files

When I open a file in CC2014 on my iMac it opens in a new window (I turned off opening in tabs) with an incredibly small file size. The image size is fine, but the view is 0.05% of the original. I'm sure I clicked on something to make this frustrating situation occur, but have no idea how to fix it. Any ideas?

Just figured it out - I had made the photoshop screen where the controls are located small to get it out of the way a little and when I opened the files it made them as small as possible to 'fit' in the window I shrunk. I opened it back to full size and the images open fine. I'm an idiot. Sorry to waste your time ssprengel

  • Elements 8 Organizer crashes when opening from Editor

    Hi,
on my new OS Win7, 64-bit Elements Orgenizer (EO) shuts down with an error message after the following actions:
    Open EO
Select a foto and open it in Elemtns Foto Editor for editing
Return to the Organizer before or after any modifications to the foto via the Organizer-Icon in the right corner of the menu bar of the Editor
After a few milliseconds the Organizer crashes and a big white box appears telling that Organizer was shut down because of an error and asking wether an error report should be sent to Adobe.
This situation newer showed up on my old Vista (32-bit) system, where I had the same version of Elemnts 8 installed. I already sent several error reports to Adobe - no response yet. Running the program in XP (Service Pack 2) or Vista (Service Pack 2) compatability mode didn't fix the problem. I think Elements 8 has a problem when running on a 64-bit system.
Are there any suggestions or hints on how to avoid this crash or how to proceed?
    Thank's in advance
    Helmut

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Organizer might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash:

  • PDF image changes when opening in photoshop

sometimes when we open PDF files in photoshop the image changes. sometimes text disappears and other times fading occurs. Here is how it can be duplicated:
    1. First try downloading the file here http://www.m3printing.com/files/wierd.pdf
    2. open the file with acrobat. take note of the red NYN in the upper left
    3. open the file with photoshop. you will notice the YN becomes faded
any clues as to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated
    ps. we use photoshop CS2

This doc is unnecessarily complex in its color structure.
It uses CMYK and seven spot colors. CMYK is DeviceCMYK,
which means, the space is not defined in the doc by an ICC
    profile.
A part of the red text vanishes if the doc is opened in Photo-
shop in CMYK mode. I don't know why. Perhaps a trans-
    parency flattening problem.
Analyzed by Acrobat > Tools > Print Production > Preflight.
My suggestion: convert each page into a well specified CMYK
space as recommended by the printer.
    The fastest solution:
Open in PhS in Lab mode with reasonably high resolution,
for instance 288ppi, convert into a specified CMYK space
    and save as TIFF.
    The correct solution:
Go back to the source program (InDesign) and replace all
Spots by process colors. Flatten and save by new name.
    Export as PDF.
Flattening in advance to Export guarantees the appearance.
Export with layers contains the risk that flattening at the
receiver turns out to be wrong.
