Image quality and editing in pages

when i insert an image into an a4 doc and I'm viewing at 100% image quality is poor but fine if i zoom in? Also image editing such as saturation etc seems to revert on its own?

Hi Matti. Thanks for your work and help you are giving to me and others. I have printed off your info and will try and get my poor old brain round it!. So many people are having the same problem with iMovie it's amazing that the mac software dept has no don anything to rectify this bug and or problem. I have downloaded the software you state "Photo to Movie" but it does not seem to have the same things as iMovie with all the fancy transitions of images and music in the background, I have tried 4 images in this software and thay come up on full screen as 100% perfect, I still have to work out how to get them onto DVD with some kind of presentation. I want to start in the field of wedding photography and need some high end presentation software for digital wedding albums or Imaging with transitin affects, what would you recomend?. I am in spain so we are on PAL here, I think!. I have people over here in the Spanish Mac forums asking about the same problems, is it OK with you to translate some of yours and pass over to them in Spanish?. best regards. Kevin

    When I add pictures into MUSE , do the pictures resize for web quality (And so the page loads fast enough) or do I have to do this using an external software like photoshop, etc. ?
    Also is there any way I can change the contact form email for all of my contact forms at once.
    I have over 100 contact forms and i want to make them reach the same email anyway I can do that without going one by one?

    If you have placed the image in Muse using File > Place and then scaled the image down in Muse while editing, then Muse publishes/exports the scaled down/optimized image in final output. When using as a Fill, the output size depends on the Fitting option you setup in the Fill options.
    As for the contact form email, you would need to specify the email address for each form individually. There is no workflow to edit the same for multiple forms at a time.

  • Firefox mage quality and resolution was superb when I used XP and Vista. Now that I have Windows 7, however (with the Firefox 3.6.3 version), the image quality and resolution is poor. Please help me!

    I am using the Firefox 3.6.3 version with my new Windows 7 operating system. When I used all the previous Firefox versions in my XP and Vista operating systems, image quality and resolution was excellent! However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.3, the image quality and resolution is poor (unacceptable for downloading purposes).
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I first activated my new computer and installed the Firefox 3.6.3.

    All my images are pixelated in firefox 3.6.3
    http://www.dcgdcreative.com
    Not only on my site but on most sites I view.
    The issue is not solved by resetting the zoom text view (ctrl+0)
    The issue is not resolved by starting in safemode with add-ons disabled
    The problem seems to only affect .jpeg files and only on Windows 7 on my desktop; as I have viewed several sites using windows XP with my laptop, no issues.
    I had the same issue with IE8 and was able to fix the problem with by setting up the compatibility view for all sites. Issue fixed no problems at all. But nothing similar for firefox?
    Whats the deal?

  • Loss of Image quality and shimmering in Imove

    Hi. This is a posting very similar to another forum user but I have the same problem!. I am downloading images from a Pentax K10D onto the Book pro and they are fine, as soon as you load them into iMovie they are terrible, poor image quality, edges of what ever is inside the photo move with a shimmering affect. I have been to the macintosh shop where I live and they don't know!. I have put this on Mac help pages in the USA and Spain still now help or comments, surely someone must have an idea as to why this is going on or is it through bad design of software!!??. regards to all. • Why am I getting poor image quality on PowerPoint notes pages?

    Hi,
    I am using Acrobat Pro version 9, pre-Lion.  I have upgraded to Lion, but have this problem before Lion.
    When printing slides from a PowerPoint presentation, and choosing the standard "Save as Adobe PDF" option, the image quality on the output is perfect.  If, however, I do the same thing but try to print the notes pages, the image gets pixelated.
    I searched the Microsoft site for help, and all I could find is a recommendation to use PNG images in my PowerPoint, which I am indeed using.
    Any ideas?  Thanks....

    Lion should not cause the blacks to print faded. The printer drivers used by Snow Leopard and Leopard are the same version as that used by Lion.
    For starters I suggest you check that you have the latest version installed. This Apple KB article shows the MG6100 series has v10.51.2.0 as the latest version.
    I also recommend you do a Nozzle test print. This can be executed from the MG6120 control panel or via the Printer Utilties window (via Print & Scan, select the printer and then open Options & Supplies and then select the Utilties tab).
    If the nozzle test print is okay but the blacks still look faded when printing photos (note the printer has two black ink tanks - one for photos and one for text) then try a reset of the printing system. This will remove the MG6120 from the Print & Scan pane but not the supporting drivers. So you will only have to add the printer again.

  • IMovie HD (6.0.3) - Export Quality and Editing Question

    Hi guys, i wanted to ask two questions. The first is that i wanted to export videos to upload onto YouTube and the best format for this seems to be the CD-ROM format that is available on the version i have, the only thing is my videos still appear low quality and pixellated even though i am editing good quality videos......i was wondering if i was doing anything wrong/or can do something better?
    Also, when i am editing, can i place logos or maybe pictures onto the video e.g. with TV channels they have a logo at the corner of the screen. I also wanted to black out text on screen but i don't seem to be able to do that.
    Thanks a lot.

    QuickTime has never supported anything more than "playback" of MPEG-1 formats and conversions to QuickTime formats will never include audio.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-1 a "format" created a long time ago.
    iMovie 7 can import and convert most MPEG-2 formats (DVD and HD media) and include audio. It also uses QuickTime for the work.
    MPEG Streamclip does allow "batch" conversions. Do them while you sleep.

  • InDesign Transparency Effects - Problems with Image Quality and File Size

    Hello,
    We are experiencing new problems exporting InDesign files to PDF.
    To summarize, though our largest workflow is to create files for offset printing, we also deliver our work to PDF for mounting on a website so our clients can download directly from the web. Our new problem is Transparency Effects, and creating a PDF that will both have a high quality (or resolution), and be a small file size.
    We are working with multiple page documents (24 to 48 pages), and would very much like to work with InDesign Transparency Effects. However, after spending much time testing a variety of PDF types, we are finding there is a radical difference between quality and file size. I was curious if anyone has had these problems, and if there is a simple answer. InDesign is an incredible program that allows us to design on the fly with Transparency Effects, but, if we are going to experience these problems, we will have to eliminate these wonderful tools.
    Can you help me or lead me to information online that will help.
    Thank you,
    Lain

    Please don't post in multiple forums. Your question has nothing to do with the PDF language and specifications, but rather PDF workflow or InDesign. I've responded to your other posting and am closing this thread.

  • Reduce image quality (and file size)

    Is there a simple way to reduce the quality of all backgroung
    images ? (there are all bitmap images, about 3 MB each of them)
    I imagine that by reducing the image quality, the file size
    will be less huge...
    But I wasn't able to find a way to do that...
    (the option about JPEG quality in project/preferences has no
    effect, because all background images are bitmap... )
    Any idea is welcome !
    Valérie

    Hi Valerie
    I have been doing some research on this -- the issue of file
    size (relating to both .cp and .swf) crops up a lot on this forum,
    so I wanted to find out which were the critical factors relating to
    images.
    My findings show that there are two critical factors:
    -- Slide Properties: Quality (High, Standard, JPEG,
    Optimized)
    -- Format of original image file (used for slide background
    or inserted image object)
    To summarize the results of my testing:
    Slide Quality
    Changing the slide quality from High
    to Standard or JPEG makes little or no difference to the size of
    the .cp file but can *significantly* reduce the size of the
    .swf
    This is an especially useful way of
    dealing with the very large .swf file sizes caused by importing PPT
    slides
    A .swf consisting entirely of
    imported PPT slides with complex backgrounds may be reduced to less
    than 10% of its original size by changing the quality setting for
    each of the slides to JPEG and using a JPEG image quality setting
    of 75%.
    Format of original image file
    For complex images such as photos,
    the best image file format to use is (oddly) .bmp -- although it
    results in a larger .cp file than other file formats (such as .jpg
    or .png), it generates the smallest .swf output.
    The benefit of using the .bmp format
    is less marked if you have set slide quality to Standard instead of
    High, but it can still cut the file size of the .swf output by up
    to 50%
    For slides using a quality setting of
    JPEG, there appears to be no difference in resulting .swf file size
    between .bmp or any other image file format
    A final comment: it is interesting to compare the size of the
    .cp and resulting .swf for different Captivate projects. There is
    typically an assumption that the .swf file will be smaller due to
    compression. However, this is not always the case. For example, I
    tested one project that used High slide quality and images that had
    been inserted from .jpg files -- the generated .swf file was over 4
    times larger than the .cp file. However, when I changed the quality
    setting for all slides to JPEG, the .swf file reduced to less than
    50% of the size of the .cp file.
    I hope this information is helpful -- please contact me if
    you'd like to see the detailed test data.

  • Image quality and report size

    Hello,
    I have a problem in the export to PDF document. I use CR 10.2 with Visual Studio 2005 in a web application.
    My problem is that I have a report of photographies, in wich I need an aceptable image quality. I don´t show the report in an report viewer, I create the report document and export it to PDF sending the memorystram in the http reponse.
    Firstly I see that the PDF document image quality was so bad. Then I checked the report property "Retain original color depth", and the image quality was good, but the PDF size was too big, two photographies of about 2MB(each one) generates a PDF file of about 20MB size.
    I need to send the pdf files to the clients via email, but the files are so big, and if the cllient inserts 10 photographies, the report size would be of about 100MB. Is there any wallkaround to this issue?. Is there this issue fixed in crystal reports XI?
    Best regards

    See [this|Crystal to PDF; thread. As unsatisfactory as the answer may be, it is what it is...
    I believe R&D is looking at this issue, but as an enhancement for a future release of CR.

    I thought of that too so I tested on another machine with retina display and the file i saved on my machine looked bad on my machine and on the other comparable machine/display. So I sent them the original vector ai file and watched while they saved it the exact same way on their machine and the file looked fine on both of our machines/displays.
    All of the settings they used appeared the same as what I used but with different results. I don't recall changing anything but does anyone know if there is some setting that could have been changed that is causing this issue?

  • Poor Image Quality when printing in Pages

    I created small (150 x 100 pixel at 72 dpi) images for printing on a one-page flyer in Pages. I dragged and dropped them into place, and things look great on the monitor. But when I print (using a Canon MX310) all-in-one, the images look bad - they are not looking crisp and sharp like they should. I have done everything on my printer settings I can - setting it to FINE quality, photo paper, etc. but they still look bad. Any ideas? I had tried this same thing in InDesign but there I got definitely jagged images on output. The images are TIFFs. I tried a different Canon ip3500 desktop printer, but to no avail.

    You need +at least+ 200dpi.
    300dpi is recommended to get fine detail.
    The size of the image has nothing to do with it, it is how many pixels you have per inch on the page.
    Obviously 72dpi has chunky pixels that you can see with your naked eye.
    The other thing is where did you get the images from? If they came from the Web then they are probably highly compressed and have compression artifacts which are painfully obvious when printing.
    Just changing formats is not going to do anything. What's that they say about a sow's ear…?

  • Batch Replace Smart Object With Different Image Quality and Sizes

    Hi there,
    I need help. I have this template that is in 1000x1000pixel and 300 dpi. I'm trying to replace the smart object inside with various JPEG that I have. These JPEG comes in large image sizes but lower than 300dpi. The issues is, when I run the script that I have, some of the pictures become really pixelated. Beforehand, I resized them to fit into the empty place in sizes that I find fit the best (8 cm x 6 cm). Some of them work okey, but then some of them just pretty bad. I'm wondering if you can help me fix the script that I have so I didn't have to resized the images before running the script, and for all of them to automatically fit into my template without altering the quality of the image that I put in.
    below is the script that I am using and the screenshot of my template:

    psdOpts.embedColorProfile = true;
    psdOpts.alphaChannels = true;
    psdOpts.layers = true;
    psdOpts.spotColors = true;
    // check if layer is smart object;
    if (theLayer.kind != "LayerKind.SMARTOBJECT") {alert ("selected layer is not a smart object")}
    else {
    // select files;
    if ($.os.search(/windows/i) != -1) {var theFiles = File.openDialog ("please select files", "*.psd;*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.tif", true)}

    executeAction( idplacedLayerReplaceContents, desc3, DialogModes.NO );
    return app.activeDocument.activeLayer

    Thank you for your answer.
    I was resizing it before from bigger image size to a smaller one (121 cm to 8 cm) which fit my template size. But the dpi remains in 72 which makes the picture pixelized.
    I am wondering if I can find a script that will keep the size of the first image that I put on the template for other images that I place, regardless the size they are imported to. Basically, how to make them all fit into the template regardless the size.
    Thank you for the info about the scripting forum. I will write there too.
    Sorry, I'm so new to this

  • Aperture 1.5.3 and iWeb - poor image quality and shuffled Media browser

    Hi, I have two questions:
    1. I used to use iPhoto 6 together with iWeb 1.1.2, but have since upgraded to Aperture. My Aperture library previews show up nicely in iWeb's media browser, but the quality of the thumbs on the photopage I create, and fullsize images in iWeb's slideshow look really bad and pixelated compared to when I used the exact same images from my iPhoto 6 Library. How can this be? I have set the preview size in Aperture to 1280 x 1280 and quality to 5. Does that have something to do with the poor quality?
    2. The Media browser in iWeb completely ignores the dates on the images from the Aperture library, resulting in the images being shuffled completely, making it hard to find the images I want to use. How can that be? Why doesn't it work like when I used iWeb with my iPhoto library?

  • Local image load and edit

    Hello,
    I already spend 2 days on this problem. I want to load local
    image into AIR application, edit and save as a new image. I know
    there are some security issues, which don't allow Loader class to
    access data on different domains than SWF file, but does it affect
    AIR too and local files editing? Well, sympthoms are the same.
    Here is the code:
    //pointing to an image
    var imageFile:File =
    File.documentsDirectory.resolvePath('someimage.png');
    //new file stream
    var fileStream: FileStream = new FileStream();
    fileStream.open(imageFile, FileMode.READ);
    //reading image into bytearray and closing stream
    var imgBytes: ByteArray = new ByteArray();
    fileStream.readBytes(imgBytes);
    fileStream.close();
    //tried to use LoaderContext and some workarounds available
    in the web - none is working
    //var loaderContext: LoaderContext = new LoaderContext();
    //loaderContext.checkPolicyFile=true;
    //loaderContext.allowLoadBytesCodeExecution = true;
    //creating loader and injecting image bytes into it
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    loader.loadBytes( imgBytes, loaderContext );
    //trace(loader.content); // will give you null
    //creating a sprite and adding image to it
    var somesprite:Sprite = new Sprite();
    somesprite.addChild(loader);
    //creating output file
    var myFile:File =
    File.documentsDirectory.resolvePath('newimage.png');
    var myFileStream:FileStream = new FileStream();
    myFileStream.openAsync(myFile, FileMode.WRITE);
    //Here is fun part: BitmapData capture everything in sprite
    except image
    var bd:BitmapData=new BitmapData(200,200);
    bd.draw(someSprite);
    var ba:ByteArray = PNGEncoder.encode(bd);
    myFileStream.writeBytes(ba);
    myFileStream.close();
    //However image will visible in the screen
    root.addChild(someSprite);
    Maybe somebody already noticed that issue and know the
    solution? It's not very sophisticated example - it won't let you do
    even a simple image editor. I'm sure there must be some way.
    Thanks in advance

    I think, then, that your problem is that you aren't waiting
    for the image to load before trying to encode and write it to disk.
    I tried your code snippet and could write the image once I put the
    encodeing and writing bit into an event handler that fired when the
    image finished loading.
