Image quality less on the websie than photoshop output

Hello,
I have been working hard to make the properties we rent out to look as appealing as possible, but all the pictures I upload to our database look very dull compared to what I exported from photoshop. I use the RAW filter to edit the pictures and then save them as full size jpg (20MP). I then batch them to the correct size (641x450px) for our website, with all the quality settings as high as possible. The resulting output looks good after doing this. But when I upload the property photos to our website they come up very dull and flat looking. Is there anything I can do about this so these pictures remain as vivid and good looking as when I exported them?
Here's some examples:
On the website top and below original:

Thanks for that tip, I never knew that.
As it didn't do much for the above picture in particular, it does make a big difference on the subject below. I must note that I get the result from "convert to profile" in preview mode, but it doesn't stick if I actually apply it. A good article on color spaces can be found here. The "save for web" function automatically converts to srgb by the way. Setting the color space in the camera to srgb does actually give a result that does something like in the pictures below. The red spectrum is affected the most, followed by blue. Green doesn't seem to suffer as much. Either way, I'll keep it in mind for future references.

    Yes, and much more.
Why not try the 30 days trial version which has all the features of Elements ?

  • JS CS3 image rotation value not the same in Photoshop

I might be missing something but when I test the following line:
    app.activeDocument.links[1].parent.rotationAngle;
The console returns -20. So if I try and apply this value to a Photoshop script.
    app.activeDocument.rotateCanvas (-20);
The result is the image has rotated the wrong way.
    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks Jongware,
To check what I'm rotating I used the following:
    app.activeDocument.links[1].parent.constructor.name
this returned Image and to be sure I tried:
    app.activeDocument.links[1].parent.parent.constructor.name
    This returned Rectangle.
So is the top line rotating the image or the frame? Or do you mean that ID only workers with frames and is not an image editing package so even though it returns Image it's still just the frame holding the image?
    Cheers, John.

  • How do l preserve image quality when reducing the size of my brochure for use as a pdf?

l've designed a brochure full of my work, and reduced the size so l can email the final pdf...but my test recipients are saying the images are not sharp...they are too soft.
Can anyone help me preserve image sharpness?

Don't use the resize feature as the images will be changed to 72 dpi. Resize the images BEFORE adding them to Pages. Make them about 200 dpi if they are to be printed. You can have less resolution if the pdf is only for the screen.

  • How do I get thumbprint images to appear in the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 13?

After installing 13, I get hourglass symbols for all the pictures in the catalog, and when I click on them, I can see the picture image, but obviously can't search the catalog visually. Any ideas?

You can get the screen size by using Dimension java.awt.Toolkit.getScreenSize().
Once you get the Dimension, Before using API setVisible(true), You have to do the calculations to put your dialog in the center.

  • Image Quality Checking in Java

    Hi All,
I want to develope a software in Java for conducting Image Quality testing. The idea I had in mind is to analyse the image pixel by pixel and doing the test. But then it is taking a lot of time to finish the test for a 200 by 200 DPI Tiff image.
Can you suggest any other idea to conduct quality tests on Tiff Image(such as Too dark/too light, streaks or bars, folded corners etc) in Java? I searched a lot in net and posted in many forums , but nothing come up.
Many third party softwares are there offering the solution which are very fast for the same image which I tested, taking only less than 1 sec for 2 images. So they have some other idea to test the image rather than going for pixel by pixel.
    Regards,
    Cochu.

  • Final Image Quality in Film, Avid vs. FCP

    Hello all,
I'm heading up post-production and editorial for an independent feature film in pre-production. There are some potential producers that are interested in the film, but they're saying that (from their experience) the films they've cut on Avid have turned out to be visually superior than those cut on Final Cut Pro.
Now, I have no specifics as to the exact post-production workflow for either of the films, but I feel as though this statement is incorrect, as it is my assumption that give the same post-production workflows, the image quality would be the exact same.
I, for one (as the editor attached to the project), am for using a Final Cut Pro workflow, specifically because I already have a system set up:
    Mac Pro 2.66 GHz Quad
    5.0 GBs RAM
    Final Cut Pro 5.1.4
    Kona LHe
Cal Digit HD444 6 TB RAID
    Toshiba 26" HD Client Monitor
    1402 Mackie Mixer
DSR-1500 DVCAM Deck via SDI and 422 machine control
Personally, I have no issue with editing on either system, as I am well versed in both Avid and Final Cut Pro. However, this is an independent feature, and saving money is key. So why cut on Avid and have to rent a bay when we could cut on mine for free?
As far as finishing is concerned, we're planning on cutting back to the original negative (using Cinema Tools as our aide).
Can anyone give me a possible reason for why cutting a feature-length on film in Final Cut Pro would not look as good if it were cut on Avid, assuming the post workflow is the EXACT same?
    Thanks!
    Mac Pro Quad 2.66 GHz / 5.0 Gigs RAM / GeForce 7300 GT / 2.0 TBs internal SATA   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Specifically, the producer in question noted that in
the past, when using FCP to cut a feature, they had
    issues in the sound mix.
In my experience, I've never encountered a sound
mixer that's had a problem with an OMF export from a
FCP sequence when they create their ProTools
    session.
Additionally, they pointed out that only Avid offline
projects would translate to a Da Vinci DI suite, and
FCP wouldn't work as well. Is there any truth to
this? I find this hard to believe...
It sounds as if your Producers don't truly understand the details of a post-production workflow for a professional film. They either only know the brands that they paid for, or they tried to unrealistically accomplish too much with too little resources and facilities on prior films, and hung their hats on the lesser of two evils. If the sound was edited, mixed, and somehow mastered on AVID or Final Cut only...without going into sound design/final mix/mastering in their respective stages and facilities...either one has an equal chance of sounding crappy...and that's a good chance. As long as the editor knows what he/she is doing and how to prepare their work for the next steps, a final mix/design can be just as good coming from a film edited on FCP as from AVID.
FCP offlines can translate just fine for AVID online/correction and what have you as long as this is planned for, researched, and understood from the outset. Basic things like knowing not to repeat frames if you're going back to film negative unless someone's willing to pay for the interpositives/dupes and such...apply if you're preparing for onlining. Same goes for sound and knowing that the final mix is where things will really take shape. the post supervisor needs to make sure that the editor and online/color correction facility (if different) are in perfect communication with eachother, and that the editor will know how to prepare and export their project to be compatable with the Davinci or whatever. The people who perform this work should generally be very open to your questions and attention, because it makes their job easier and more accurate when they're getting things well-prepared, rather than having to redo things that should be in place already. I've prepared simple EDL's which have worked fine for onlining and correction...but I made sure, step by step, that I was delivering what they needed, rather than just making it and shipping it out, and I was there with them for the whole process in case something was missing or confusing. Went without a hitch.
For sound design, I only do a basic edit during picture edit for sync work and music selection/editing/matching, or a rought mix that will approximate the final results, but I won't use that for the actual design except for perhaps a scratch reference. The rest...EFX, ambiences, foley, etc. is done in Pro Tools, and I can simply bring the project in to a mix house and open it on their system.
I guess you could hypothesize that there's a smaller, younger, and less-experienced pool of talent using primarily FCP than those using AVID, since AVID's been around longer and is still the "standard''. And a well-established, fully AVID-based in-the-can to on-the-screen facility will be more capable than a single FCP suite. But that's not FCP's fault. As long as we know the steps that have to be taken, FCP is fully capable of performing perfectly in its step on the ladder, and moving the project to the next.
So again, it seems like the producers are inaccurately attributing their disappointments to machines, instead of workflow and compatability that can and should be controlled by people who understand it. It's ususally the Post Supervisor's job to make sure of that. Of course, not every production will have the right budget for this, but the producers need to understand where the money for post goes and what things (along with the people, of course) need to be paid for in order to get the quality deserving of a professional feature film. That's the producer's job...at least one them.

  • Bad image quality of slideshows

I am a new Mac user. I am having difficulty making slideshows from the iLife version 6 software with the features that I want and decent image quality.
I've been trying with iPhoto, iMovieHD and iDVD. I want to be able to put captions or title screens in my slideshows, so I must use either iDVD or iMovieHD. If I do not want my photos to pan and zoom, I can use iDVD. I've done this and burned the result to a DVD. When I play the DVD on my 65" wide screen high definition television, the image quality of the slideshow is not satisfactory. Diagonal lines have visible stepping. Just before a photo transitions to the next photo, there is a noticeable increase in the number of digital artifacts for about one second.
For some slideshows, I wanted to have the pan and zoom effects, and title screens, so I used iMovieHD. When I started the project, I chose the format 1080i because that is what my high definition television can do. I realize, however, that my DVD player cannot do that resolution, so I am not sure that was the correct format to choose. I "shared" the completed slideshow movie to iDVD. When I play that slideshow, I see many digital artifacts in the images as the zoom happens. The images are not as good as looking at the original digital photos on the computer.
Is there a way to make a slideshow on a DVD that has an image quality that matches the original digital photograph? Is it possible to use the pan and zoom effect when I wish to play a DVD slideshow on a television?
    Any help is appreciated.
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   2MB memory, 15"

I realize that I did not ask exactly the right question.
I've made slideshows using U-lead software on my windows XP desktop machine. The image quality of those slideshows on a standard TV is better than what I can do with iDVD and iMovie. So I'm wondering is there something I need to do in iDVD that might be automatically happening in the U-lead software. Obviously, I do not expect people here to know anything about that software, but you might know of something in the iDVD software that will prevent the digital artifacts that I see when I use iDVD to make a slideshow. So far, the slideshows I've made are bordering on not watchable.

  • Satellite S70-A-11H web camera image quality is not good

    Hi,
Running windows 8.1 which came with the laptop.
    New out of the box.
    As per title.
I find the image quality of the camera image to be very grainy, poor color etc.
When I start the web camera using the search bar on the right, it starts using the Microsoft application, when you scroll down to settings all that is available under settings/options is Photo aspect ratio, Grid lines, Location info.
I have been in touch with Toshiba Tech support who advised to do a Laptop refresh, which I did.
    This made no difference.
After which they asked me to find the Toshiba web camera application on the laptop, this should have been in the Program Files folder in the Toshiba folder.
This application does not exist on my laptop.
The tech checked the same model laptop that he had available, which I was told when he selected the web camera, it opened using the Toshiba Web camera application, not Microsoft.
I have looked at other Toshiba laptops with web cameras, and found the image quality to be better. Unable to get to settings as these laptops were on display and in demo mode, hence locked down to some extent.
I can't believe that a web camera in this day and age for this value of laptop to have such poor image quality. My digital camera from 10year ago has better image quality.
I have checked through the laptop, and I do not have this application installed.
I have checked for updated drivers and software for my laptop, and cannot find this application to be applicable for my laptop. Drivers etc appear to be up to date.
I would like to know, do other users of this S series have any issue of camera image quality.
When the camera is selected what application is being used, Toshiba or Microsoft.
Is Toshiba web camera application applicable to Windows 8.1, as I cannot see it listed for 8.1
Does this sound like a hardware fault or a application/software issue.
Any direction or help on this matter would be appreciated, as I am getting to the point of returning this laptop for a refund.
    Thanks in advance.
    D.
Yes, I have tried using the FORCE!

    > The tech checked the same model laptop that he had available, which I was told when he selected the web camera, it opened using the Toshiba Web camera application, not Microsoft.
The Toshiba webcam application is available for Win 7 system but the Win 8 and Windows 8.1 system use the own Microsoft webcam application.
    > I have looked at other Toshiba laptops with web cameras, and found the image quality to be better.
Different Toshiba notebooks are equipped with different webcams.
Satellite S70-A-11H was equipped with a *0.92 mega pixel webcam*
A Satellite A660 for example was equipped with an _1.3M mega pixel webcam_
So there is a difference in webcam resolution

  • Export panel bridge cs5 - image quality only to 10

    Hi
Is anyone else having problems with the image quality settings in the image options.  It cannot seem to save the max setting of 12 it only save jpegs at 10.
    Any suggestions,  Thanks Andy

I had the exact same issue - except mine is limiting it to a maximum of 8
The workaround I found is to build the export profile exactly as you would like it - and let it pick whatever number it wants (8 or 10) - ignore the words of Low/High/Maximum - those just correlate to the 8 or 10 (or 12)
12 is the true maximum for the JPG export and once you run it - there is a noticeable file size increase and the images are a higher quality.
Once you have the profile built, go into the folder "Export Presets"
    Macintosh HD > Users > YourUsername > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Bridge CS5 > Export Presets
Open up the file that matches the same name as what you created inside bridge
The file will likely open as an .xml file inside dreamweaver (or another XML editor)
    find the line:
           <imageQuality>8</imageQuality>
and set what the system set as an 8 (or a 10) to a 12
           <imageQuality>12</imageQuality>
save the file and run the export again.
You will have what were 2-4MB JPG files becoming 8-12MB files with a quality of 12/Maximum
    Hope that helps

  • Image quality degrades in published swf

I've built a Flash site for a freind who is a photographer.
There are over 100 images on the site that are imported jpegs. Most
of them look fine but two of them look very washed out when I
publish my swf even though in the Flash project file they have very
sharp contrast. These particular images are monochromatic. Is there
anyway to preserve the variation of tones in the published swf?
I've tried using them at maximum image quality, but had the
    same result.
Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

I tried saving as a png, but I got the same result. It's like
my black becomes a dark grey and my midtones go light/

It would be necessary that you have to use "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool". (see Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 )
The order varies depending on your individual needs:
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
    2. Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"? Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)

  • Why is the render quality less than the source files

I am setting render quality at Best, Full 1920 x 1080.   The movie quality in either a quick time or windows media player file is terrible.  These same files export at good quality at school with the same settings.  Why am I getting poor image quality on my PC at home?

The first image is a screen shot of the original footage taken in AE.  The second image is the exported qucktime.  The quick time is at half size and the AE is 50%.  The source files are a qucktime output of a frame by frame animation I created in AE.  I have tried rendering both interlaced and progressive.  My instructor had me drop the source files onto the "Create a new composition" icon  at the bottom of the project window so AE would interpret the sourcefiles correctly to be exported back to Final Cut Pro. The format options are set to no compression.  I don't know how to tell what codec I am rendering to.
My instructor isn't any help since I am working on a PC.  He only knows Mac.
